The Black Horse in Liverpool

I booked table for 6 people on 17th February for the following Saturday the 22nd. I received an email confirming my booking and on the morning of 22nd I received a reminder email saying looking forward to seeing us at 7pm. When we arrived we were told there was no table available and the food was finished. I showed the bar staff my emails but have to say they really weren't interested. I was told they had staff issues hence food finished. I was also told I probably wouldn't find anywhere else close by (Masons and Wetherspoons) as boxing on so everywhere busy. Clearly online booking doesn't work. Why did I receive a reminder about my booking that day instead of letting me know

Mi hermano gemelo y yo estábamos explorando por esta parte de la ciudad cuando decidimos dejarnos caer en The Black Horse Pub , hemos estado aquí antes en muchas ocasiones, siempre lo pasamos bien y así lo demostró en nuestra última visita a aquí. Un gran pub de aspecto, establecido desde hace mucho tiempo, el interior es magnífico, muy tradicional, un bar de servicio de estilo isla domina la sala principal, el pub se divide en dos grandes habitaciones, decoración y mobiliario pubby, pantallas grandes para disfrutar del deporte y un montón de opciones de asientos repartidos por todo este pub, es solo un pub muy bueno para relajarse. Estábamos aquí en una tarde de febrero amargamente fría, pub estaba ocupado con un gran ambiente, pedimos cervezas de Carling Brewery, estas se sirvieron en excelentes condiciones siendo helado frío y espumoso, nos relajamos, calentamos y planeamos el día siguiente mientras bebíamos nuestras cervezas. Mi cerveza era muy buena, una cerveza crujiente, estilo lager dorada llena de sabor y muy fácil de beber, especialmente cuando se sirve frío helado como en este pub, era tan bueno estar en un pub tan encantador disfrutando de una cerveza deliciosa y se sentó con mi hermano gemelo, mejor compañero de cerveza del mundo. Realmente disfrutamos de nuestras cervezas aquí antes de seguir adelante y aunque nuestra visita fue solo fugaz como en cualquier otra visita a aquí nos lo pasamos muy bien. El Black Horse Pub es fácil de ubicar a lo largo de Prescot Road. El horario de apertura es; Lunes a jueves, mediodía hasta las 11 pm. Viernes y sábado, mediodía hasta medianoche. Domingo, mediodía hasta las 11 pm. Vale la pena comprobar si estás en Old Swan distrito de Liverpool.

The Black Horse es un pub Greene King en Prescot Road que ofrece una brillante gama de comida y bebida y este pub fue uno de los muchos pubs que fuimos en esta animada zona Liverpool. El Caballo Negro se encuentra en un brillante edificio del viejo mundo que se ve fantástico. Tiene un excelente interior con excelentes características y una bonita decoración y mobiliario y hay un montón de buenas zonas de estar y es un gran pub para ver deporte en vivo. Esta es nuestra primera visita a aquí en años y es tan bueno como cuando fuimos aquí por primera vez. Visitamos aquí temprano en la tarde y como era un viernes por la tarde era un poco ocupado aquí, pero no nos tomó mucho tiempo para ser servidos, ya que hay un montón de personal aquí. Cuando visitamos aquí tuvimos unas copas de cerveza Carling lagers que eran de primera clase y a un precio razonable. Es un pub brillante que ofrece una buena gama de comida y bebidas a buen precio y está en una excelente zona y bien merece una visita. (Esta es mi primera reseña del Caballo Negro). Came in on a rainy Sunday night, shared a bottle of wine with a good mate. Decent pub with pleasant service.

A couple I went with had cold food but didn't like to complain.My food was tasteless and I had to leave half of it. Tables took age to clear..⁰

Alway visit when I'm in old Swan the food is very good and plentiful.

Good price for food especially when there is deal, and the quality is not bad, but you need plenty of time to be eating here(suits for elderly to kill time I guess?) Have been 2 times here, standard things like fish and chips/Sunday roast takes about 45 minutes-1 hour, even when the place was less than half full. May consider upgrading kitchen/hiring more cooking staff, or concentrate on being a bar for drinks only.

Told not to order through app as barman said was too busy everytime I went to the bar they were just standing around waiting to serve lots of food out of stock app not updated and food overcooked very small portions compared to other green king pubs I've been to also told that children needed to be out by 8pm and the policy online states 9pm

We visited The Black Horse as a Christmas Choir event. Nic and her team were fabulous! Nothing was too much trouble, and they made it easy to cater for 25 people of differing needs and dietary and access needs. The communication about the booking was clear. The staff took into consideration all requests, which even allowed us to do our own karaoke session for our attendees. The pricing was competitive, and clear for their event, and we learned that some of our members also attend other events at the pub and rave about them too! Thank you so much, and we can't wait to come back!

Entertainment was good, which was a good thing, because otherwise the family of 10 of us were about to leave,food not so nice

Came with friends for a catch up and drinks for the Christmas period. There was a Christmas party meal taking place on the tables near where we were sitting. They looked like they were really enjoying it and the staff were absolutely brilliant with the party. I’m now in talks with friends to book for the Christmas meal

Ha estado llegando al Caballo Negro durante los últimos dos años y puede decir que ofrecen las mejores noches para toda la familia, desde fiestas de Halloween para niños y desayuno con Santa hasta noches de 80 s y días de homenaje para la generación mayor. El personal del bar está en el lugar, nada es nunca demasiado problema para ellos y siempre tendrá risas y una broma con después de servir algunas pintas increíbles de Guinness La comida siempre es imprescindible cuando entramos, desde los viernes de pescado y las hamburguesas los miércoles hasta los increíbles asados de domingo Siga Aplastándolo Y Gracias Por Todo Su Servicio Durante Los Años

No mentiría no esperaba mucho, pero la comida era absolutamente preciosa y el personal kieran especialmente fue muy servicial, especialmente con la dama que estábamos apoyando, ya que tiene necesidades dietéticas persiciosas, gracias chicos por darnos un gran comienzo a son día en Liverpool

Food and service was excellent, atmosphere okay. The only problem was a Liverpool game was on. Also I left my phone in the toilet, some nice honest scouser handed it in. So very grateful. Thanks.

Horrible personal abusivo, , grosero agresivo. forma de hablar con los clientes. . Oímos que el cuestionario era bueno, así que pensamos que lo probaríamos. . disfrutamos de esto y nos hicieron sentir bienvenidos por Ian y los otros cuestionarios. . Nos dijeron que "saliéramos ahora" literalmente inmediatamente después de comprar bebidas, como se llamaba a los últimos pedidos. El personal nos estaba quejando de que serían despedidos si no nos íbamos aparentemente esto vino del gerente... Lo que comenzó como una buena noche fue rápidamente arruinado por el horrible personal. Esta fue una vez una verdadera familia local que en los últimos años se ha deteriado y se ha convertido en casi el dinero a expensas del servicio al cliente y la hospitalidad. ALÉJATE...

Nice Staff but we waited ages for our food to come, It Wasn't busy when we arrived, Atmosphere was good.

Always amazing food at great prices here. Decided to have lunch here today (build your burger deal) and portions were so big couldn't even finish. Quickly and friendly service from the staff Louis and Nikki. Next time will try and Sunday roast! Will be back soon

A Good place for Families to enjoy a meal and a Drink, Very spacious with High Ceilings. Nice outdoor Area at the Rear with a Beautiful Bowling Green Also Nice to watch on a Sunny weekend if you like Bowls 👍🏻

Me and my friends were in old Swan looking for a nice pub for some food and drinks 🍺 we were going to go to the Whetherspoons but we thought we’d try the Blackhorse what a pleasant surprise we got the service was first class it was so friendly and welcoming we had food which was awesome the drinks were perfect The Staff were so nice my friends said how nice it is to go into a pub today and treated like VIPs the whole experience was amazing 🤩 we I’ll certainly be coming back as will my friends. 👍

Big lad behind the bar ,dusnt like ringing the bell for last orderdes cos he want to get off early ,, should he be in this job ? Loads off people got refused cos of his life style ??? Is this right , ?? We went for a friend's birthday we had the roast dinner and it was really lovely we all had a great day Dave the chef is a brilliant cook and a friend who's birthday is next week wanted to go to the stag and rainbow for her birthday but after having such a lovely dinner has changed her mind and now wants to go back to the blackhorse for another roast

Booked for a meal and arrived on time. Table was full of glasses so we cleared it ourselves. When we went to order our meal we were told that they were not taking food orders. When we explained that we had a booking we were told quite rudely that they were not taking food orders for at least two hours. I cannot believe that the good reviews we read before we booked are genuine. The bad attitude of the staff completely ruined our day. I would never go there again and would strongly advise against anyone else going either.

Always wait so long for food hardly anyone in but food is an hour wait & have to ask for cutlery! Some staff are rude & miserable

We were doing genealogy research in the Old Swan area. The Black Horse was owned by William Shaw years ago. His daughter Mary was wed to William Hodson. They eventually moved to Canada. Nice friendly pub.

Went at tea time for food to get told the chef was taking an hour break because he hadn’t been on one all day then got told food wouldn’t be back on after his break the kitchen was closed terrible

My wife collapsed outside after being dropped off. The staff and customers acted very quickly and really cared. They took her inside until she was mobile again.

Doors always open even in November , sorry staff its not all about you's being warm , it's blowing a gale and you are opening all the doors , need to give consideration to the customer sitting there freezing cold !!!!

I don't really do to puns now days due to the large volume of knob heads, but this pub is perfect for the quick quiet pint, the staff are friendly and so are the locals, I shall be going back at some point

We had a lovely time at the Black Horse. Food was great, came out quite quickly and all meals were really tasty. we had a build your own burger and children meals, really great for value. Staff were great. they were friendly and helpful and accommodating to the kids. we regularly go for food and a couple of cocktails when out on a night out and we will defienlty be back for dinner.

Love the food especially the burgers like they way u can customise it also love watching the horse racing and the kids claw machine really recommend this pub always friendly staff too! 🙏❤❤❤❤❤

Straight to the point. What a scruffy place this has turned into. Seating ripped with foam hanging out of it. Carpets minging. Mold on top of the radiator in the gents toilets just below the hand dryer it’s that black an thick you could grow mushrooms out of it. How this has gone to the scruffiest public house in the swan beats me. It used to be the best. Won’t be getting mine or my family’s custom any more until they rip it out an revamp it. Just looks like a tired old dump. 10/10 for the staff tho. No need for the management to reply with a scathing attack on my honest review simply pass it on to Greenkings. It’s not you fault. 👍

Popped in Tuesday afternoon to have a late lunch. Ordered drinks but when trying to order food was informed they did not have a chef for the next hour? They had very few customers but I guess not offering food was not helping? I went to the Wetherspoons just up the road. They had both a chef and customers.

Went last night with my son and daughter in-law. I haven't been for a while. Bar man very horrible only asked how tall he was because he was like a giant he needs some customer service manners shouldn't be working in that industry what a horrible person ARROGANT is putting it mildly

The burger meal we had was lovely and well worth the money staff were friendly and helpful it wasn't very busy would definitely go back there again

Love this greenking, where from ilkeston Derbyshire an visit family we always meet up every 2 months in here usually around 10 of us we eat here the food is served quickly and it's clean an a great atmosphere Well done staff

Disappointing Went on quiet night. Saw only 5 other people apart from us eating. Waited approx 35 mins for meals. I ordered a fish meal with tartar sauce and it arrived with chilli sauce. No condiments were on the table or offered when being served and by the time the sauce was changed and we had waited at bar for condiments the meals were virtually cold. Bar service fine plenty of screens for sport nice outdoor space but can’t really recommend for eating there.

Would give this place a wide berth if I was you. The Managment are so two faced it’s unreal. Went for tea there at 7pm. Was told abruptly that kids was not aloud in after 8pm which was fine as they r the rules. Ordered our food. Got the food wrong. Thought oh we’ll mistakes do happen. Order a drink on the app. Waiting 10 mins hasn’t arrived. Partner went to the bar to see where it was, was told that we wasn’t having our drink as we had kids with us and they close in 5 minutes for kids. But ordered drinks 10 minutes prior. But accepted the order and payment. So they waited untill 5 minutes before kids had to be there to tell us no we couldn’t have the beer we ordered. After that I said could I have a refund please. It was like “yer it’ll go back on ye bank card” in a really rude attitude. So finished our first drinks waiting to go. Sent my little ones toilet. Then I went to the toilet. As walking to the ladies. I see said woman who had a awful attitude talking to a set of other customers about what I said to her. I was shocked that she was so two faced and when I walked over to her to say erm excuse me r u talking about me. She then said no I wasn’t. But I stood there and listened to her gossip about me to them. One thing is if your unhappy with a customer then fair do’s but one thing is make sure ye don’t get caught slagging that said customer off to other people in the pub. Wouldn’t go near this place ever again. The woman in charge don’t know her name but she’s a very rude woman. Was told that the refund would go back on to my card in the next few days as they cancelled it and gave me a receipt. I’ve checked again today and the payment has gone through to them it didn’t bounce back at all. Just wanna say if they would of handled the situation better I wouldn’t of wrote this. But hearing the woman talk about me to other customers while I was there and her back was to me she didn’t know I was there was something awful. Then to say she didn’t after I heard her just wasn’t very nice. I spoke to her at the table as well when she walked past and said I found that really belittling what u did infront of other staff and customers and she just shrugged her shoulders turned around and walked away with out even saying sorry. Just disgusting customer service and attitude from them.

Great pub, staff are great, nothing too much trouble, food is great, plenty of screens on displaying different sports, plenty of seating available, people who frequent the place are normally very pleasant and cheerful, there's a bowling green in the back which is great to sit outside in the better weather, there's parking close by but be warned if you park in black horse lane next to the pub the traffic wardens can be a bit keen

Been twice with family both times turned away saying they have stopped taking food orders has the chef is having a break ... both times there are other people eating ... staff not in the slightest bit bothered ... won't be coming back a third time

Good pub. Very friendly helpful staff. Food is always fresh and hot. Hand pump beers are kept well, very important as we are camra members ! This is the best pub in the area.

I enjoy visiting the black horse on a Friday and Saturday for the d.js. Me and my friends have a ball. The D.M.F raspberry shots are amazing and 3 for £5 you can’t go wrong. Thank you to the staff for always being amazing and always going the extra mile

Absolutely useless, went to have food and there were "no plates ready" waited for 45 mins and still no food available as no plates were washed, we could have ate and been home by now if we had gone to Wetherspoons. That being said when the food was eventually available it was very good.

My opinion as one of the best pubs around the area just now, calm atmosphere, pleasant staff, selection of beers amazing. Management are doing their best to get people in, planning events are constantly posted around the premises.

Cracking place, we came up from Derbyshire to visit family, we popped in the place to asked if we could eat my granddaughters birthday cake on their premises, they were more than accommodating and put cake in the fridge until we were ready to present it to our granddaughter, a patron of the pub even let the candles, lovely staff, great food, we'll be back..

Friendly staff, plenty of tv for sports, spacious outside area which is lovely getting the last of the evening sun, amazing food, my only issue is they don’t sell WKD ☹️
