Good pub, lovely inside with really friendly staff. Great selection of beers and lots of seating inside and out

It’s a lovely pub & nice beer,The only negative is they let dogs on the seats,Discussing when we’ve to sit on them so unhygienic

Typical Ossett pub. Beers decent enough. Decent sized seating area outside. Dog friendly. Tv screens in bar area.

Nice local pub in Rothwell. Friendly staff, decent range of Ossett cask. Would be nice to see more of their Salt beers on offer. Prices may out some people off.

Well I have to say I am deeply disappointed in the service we received tonight. It is with deep shame from your staff that a member of my party was accused of "being ill in her hands" which I can confirm did NOT happen and am waiting cctv to confirm this!! Christmas is a festive time and 'the girl in the blue" would never do such a thing!! I was entirely shocked when the men after, fell onto the floor and were still served. For here on, I will not return.

I used to enjoy having a drink here but I'm really disappointed with the on duty supervisor, Emily? who gave me such bad attitude for wanting to report that the toilets were disgusting and that the taps were constantly running! She didn't want to know and said she needed to get back behind the bar despite it being quiet and the fact that there was already other bar staff on duty! If we're going to have to deal with rude staff we'd rather go somewhere else!

Set up really well great atmosphere

Not been in this pub for about 6 years the toilets are a disgrace dirty not been cleaned and stink

Can’t fault this place … Decent lager, decent craft beer, decent gin (or so the Mrs informs me) and decent hand pulled beers too (or so my dad informs me). Friendly staff behind the bar, plenty of tv screens for the sport and loads of seating areas but still feels like a warm welcoming local country pub. There’s also an outdoor area both front and back for the warmer months and decent free parking at the rear. Haven’t tried the food here yet, but I’ve been down on the quiz night (which is also great) and the free buffet supper alongside the quiz is good. Been plenty times now since living in Rothwell and I’m sure I’ll be there plenty more.

Excellent pub staff are so friendly and helpful and dog friendly

Came last Saturday, got seated with 4 friends. Ordered our drinks straight away. There was one person sat at a distance to us when we first got in. We'd all finished our drinks when the other person not part of our group left. Went to the toilet, when I came back someone had seated another 5 young males literally 4 inch away from us. A female bar tender served them, stood socialising with them for about 10 minutes then walked away. Not one member of staff came to ask if we wanted another drink. They stood looking at us, having their own drinks while standing at the bar. Even walked past us a couple of times. Service was terrible. Come back Laura and her team !! Please

After 15 years been band from a social club nearby in Carlton Wakefield, I was asked to leave, I changed my name 12 years ago and have not visited this district in years, but as local service met a friend and had a pint in the Black bull, I found the staff pleasant, until drinking my beer, I was asked to finish my drink, I was happy to do so but the woman whine is apparently arently the land lady was very rood and seemed very unprofessional, I have jade a issue in this pub before, but now I’m 45 and the issue was in 2005 I don’t understand any issues as I’m only out with wife and kids

Got accused of doing drugs at 11:00 - 1200 in the afternoon. Even thought we got to the pub @ 16:00. Make sure you check your change when u leave.

Good local vibe, lots of outdoor seating and friendly staff. All covid measures adhered to.

Not a big pub but has extensive outside space. Staff are extremely covid aware so feels very safe.

Staying locally and dropped in for a beer. Great range and all well kept. Friendly bar staff.

Lovely staff and really the drinks are nice. Perfectly placed in the centre of rothwell with it's own parking that is free.

Good local pub with a good atmosphere

Absolutely terrible bar service even when not busy People standing/sitting at the bar whilst trying to get served making it very frustrating whilst waiting and then the closest person serving when its your turn walks straight passed you to serve someone thats just walked in prompts the obviuos annoyed response and then you get asked to leave for abusing the bar staff. Very overated pub and as a local of Rorhwell i very rarely frequent the place because its the same all the time.

This is a great friendly pub which is always full on a Friday tea time, great atmosphere,nice friendly staff. Usually they have some nibbles on the bar.

Lovely pub with decent car park. Smoking area. Decent selection of ale bar snacks and MUCKY FAT for free on the bar. Definitely a oldskool pub with abit of new school twist .

Proper little boozer there's always the sport on across the 3 screens locals are freindly and staff are attentive. Spacious outside sitting area and plenty of parking

Visited again recently (September 2018) as they held another 'Rat Infestation" i.e. had at least 9 Rat beers always on over that weekend. Excellent. It is always a very welcoming pub. One of the barmaids was especially helpful when one ale barrel "went" and she was pulling through another. She brought a small glass of the fresh beer to our table to try: PapaRatzi. Brilliant! Generally a good selection of Yorkshire real ales: Osset, Rat brewery + guest ales at quite reasonable prices. The bar staff really do know how to pour a pint of bitter properly. Sports on TVs especially Rugby League. A dog friendly pub that has also has outside seating. Can get quite busy on Friday and Saturday nights.

Lovely little pub with some of the most reasonable prices in the area. Always at least a good couple of pints on, not a huge fan of the Rat brewery but can always count on at least 1 good Ossett or a Tetley
