I don't very often feel compelled to leave a review but wanted to share with you this beautiful little restaurant which had been highly recommended by some friends. The food was cooked to perfection, the table service outstanding and front of house extremely welcoming. The portions are very generous and the lamb shank just melted in the mouth. Buttery mash a must! The treacle sponge and custard was just delightful. This is the only restaurant we have ever been to where you are presented with a complimentary cup and saucer containing home cooked soup - what a lovely little gesture. Whilst the restaurant may be slightly remote, it is definitely worth the visit as it is surrounded by beautiful countryside why not go for a ramble and finish with a beautiful meal 10 out of 10 - we'll definitely be back

First time visit. Excellent Sunday lunch after superb pate starters. May have to give starter a miss next time to leave room for pudding. Really warm welcome and all the staff were friendly. Can’t ask for more, even the location is beautiful. Almost forgot the little cup and saucer of tomato and basic soup which was also lovely.

This is a hidden gem ! Had a lovely lunch here today - everything we ate was really good .The food was hot and good quality at a reasonable price . We felt very safe here , all the staff were wearing masks , track and trace requirements in operation , tables well spaced and hand sanitiser to use on arrival .we will be back - hopefully soon to try more off the menu .

We chose to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary at the Bistro last evening and once more were not disappointed. Living 50 miles away the food has got to be good or we would not make the effort. The menu was varied and imaginative . I settled for the fillet Steak and my wife the Venison to follow out starter and both were excellent. We finished the evening with a delicious Sticky Toffee Pudding & the Cheese Board. Once more the food was great as was the service. Nice to eat in a full restaurant with a happy atmosphere. We booked on the strength trip advisor reviews and recommendations and were expecting good things. Ordered chicken Satay for starters and fillet steak for main. A little concerned there was no smell of food in the restaurant given we were sat in front of the kitchen. Both starters and main courses lacked any real taste and both steaks were overcooked. Although the restaurant was full of what appeared to be regular customers but personally can not see the attraction. Added to pretty slow service, definitely not value for money or somewhere we will be visiting again.

We tried Bistro in the Barn having heard good things from a couple of different people. I guess a sign of things to come was walking in and there being absolutely no lovely foody smells at all. We had two courses, neither had any flavour. If I had been blind fold I would have had absolutely no idea I was eating chicken satay. Three tasteless bits of chicken and a pot of nondescript sauce. Both fillet steaks were over cooked which would be ok if they tasted amazing. They didn’t. The pepper sauce was pepperless, flavourless. In their defence there were at least two tables of people who were regulars so obviously not everyone feels it’s poor. There was a good drinks menu and it was reasonably priced. The staff are very friendly if a little slow. The thing which grated a bit was the price. We paid half as much again as we had at The Oak House in Chapeltown the week before and the food at Bistro in the Barn isn’t a patch on that. Definitely wouldn’t return and sorry we wasted a Saturday night and some of our hard earned cash coming here.

Review slightly late as couple of weeks ago had arranged to meet up with friends at Bistro in the Barn for Sunday lunch but contemplated postponing due to horrendous travel conditions- flooded roads & gales. Am so pleased we carried on as food was fantastic. Sunday offer gives 2 courses for 15quid. I chose meatballs then salmon- both were excellent & very generous portions. Was our 3rd visit and even tho meals have always been brilliant,food just gets better & better!

We love going to the Barn the family who run it are very nice and the service and meals are special. The menu is not extensive but there is always a selection that you cannot make your mind up on what to have. Cannot recommend it more highly.

We went here for a birthday celebration on a Sunday afternoon. We had pre booked a table as there was 10 of us. We were seated straight away in a wonderful quirky room at an amazing wooden table which had plenty of space inbetween us all. The meals on offer ranged from traditional Sunday lunch to daily specials. We had a variety from both menus and were not disappointed. The service and staff were wonderful and nothing was too much trouble. Our meals were hot and fresh and tasted beautiful. We were given ample time between courses and weren't rushed at all. We all throughly enjoyed it and sent back empty plates. We will definitely be visiting again and will recommend the Bisto in the Barn to anyone.

Our daughter bought us dinner for two for Christmas so we were lucky to try the 8 course taster menu on the 28th of December. The menu was surprising in its variations and all was excellent. The staff very welcoming and friendly both front of and behind the scenes and the variety of Gins on offer was well worth us straying from our nrmal tipple.
