Passion Food Restaurant in Barnsley

I absolutely love everything about Passion. The restaurant is small and cosy. We visited for Sunday lunch and had 9 adults and 2 children one of whom is a very fussy eater, nothing was too much effort for the staff they are exceptional! The food menu is small but perfectly formed and everything is delicious. The price for the meal was totally worth every penny if not more. I have been here for date night as well and the experience was just as great as it always it. Highly recommend a visit if you are in Barnsley as it's unique and fantastic. I advise you book in advance as it's only a small place.

I’ve been told this was a top class place to eat many times but never managed to get here until today. Nobody has done it justice, what a treat. Wonderful food, service and environment. Faultless.

Great place, great food and reasonably priced. Felt a bit like being left with the chef and a waitress to run the place late on in the night, we booked a table for 7.30pm and it felt a little strange without a host. Our waitress was awesome very attentive and basically had it not been for her would have felt a little awkward. It was nice just to engage with someone. Having said that ambience is great if you just want to chat with you’re partner, no stresses or rushing around. Menu varied and good selection and presented very nice

We decided a trip to the cinema & wanted to est before going. We booked last minute & was no problem getting us fitted in. The food was excellent, staff are lovely & seemed to work vert well together. There was a really nice relaxed atmosphere. We will definitely be back , hopefully to try a Sunday lunch.

Such a hidden gem in Barnsley. There were 14 of us so they let us privately book the entirety. We are often bored with restaurant standard offerings but the menu at Passion is pretty unique. It was our Second visit & the menu was completely different to the first visit. The pavlova dessert was incredible (pic) Would totally recommend Passion food. Already booked again for a few weeks time.

Food was absolutely delicious, especially the Napoleonka. Staff are so so friendly and helpful. Will definitely be returning for more delicious food. They change the menu every so often aswell so you can expect different things if you revisit.

This restaurant is cosy, bright and beautiful. Food was incredible - I am a very picky eater and everything was perfect. We tried the tapas menu, followed by desserts which were just as amazing. The owner was extremely friendly and chatty. I can't fault this restaurant at all and will be recommending to everyone. Looking forward to coming back!

First time visit to this not well advertised place that's sort of hidden away, and we can both say it is a lovely little place, very clean and tidy , lovely traditional predominantly Polish food, all cooked and served to a very good standard, prices are reasonable , only tiny flaws we could find would be the place lacks an atmosphere ( no idea how you would sort that out ) and the what I presume is the owner needs to interact with the customers a little more and maybe make a few more £'s by maybe pushing the sale of Polish beers etc instead of standing at the counter on Facebook or whatever it didn't look good tbh. My verdict overall is one of, pleased we went and yes enjoyed it but not enough to make me want to go back, however this is just our opinion so please go try for yourself and be open to trying new things.

Went for a quiet birthday meal, early sitting, chose a very unusual sounding main dish but enjoyed it immensely.

My wife and I visited this restaurant tonight with friends and it was amazing. I can't believe that we have not been here before but we will definitely be back. We visit here weekly for mid-week lunch. Last night we treated our grandson and partner to the finest dining with the most efficient and friendly service in town. Just to tempt your taste buds, here’s what I ate: pre- starter of herb bread with cream cheese followed by curried parsnip and pear soup followed by daube beef cheek with port sauce, sultana stuffed apple and celeriac mousse. Just managed to find room for a slice of WZ traditional Polish chocolate cake with a strawberry shot. If you like the finest of fine dining, don’t wait for a special occasion get to Eastgate. There’s a max seating of 16, you’ll need to book. A good wine list and lager on draught too.

Love this place!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️It was recommended by a few friends. My husband and l visited April 2019 and really loved it and couldn’t understand why we hadn’t been before. I visited here today with my boyfriend and without a doubt it is the best meal I’ve ever had in Barnsley! The owner is so lovely we both asked questions about the food and she was more than happy to answer our questions. Very attentive and clearly loves what she does. The food - I had the polish dumplings and my boyfriend the fish cake to start and it was mouth watering, literally left us dying to try more and already said that we were definitely coming back. And for mains we had the pork cheeks and the duck, and of course it was amazing! We ordered a side of mash each too and the taste of everything was just phenomenal. We finished off with the lemon tart to share and again amazing. The price is so good too, we had a 3 course meal with coffees and other drinks and it still came in at under £50. We will definitely be back!! Absolutely loved it.

Lunched from the new menu, and found a new favourite starter - Pierogi (Polish dumplings). Very tasty. For mains I had an old favourite - duck leg with its plum sauce and beetroot. Dessert was a Lemon tart, enjoyable, but I do prefer Alexandra’s pavlova. Dorothy had a change from her regular soup, and found the fish cakes much to her liking. She also enjoyed her buttered chicken breast. She doesn’t bother with pudding, just shares mine. An atmospheric place with a warm welcome, a word for everyone from Jacek, and service with a smile. I recommend trying the evening dining on Friday or Saturday. You will not be disappointed.

This was my first visit to Passion Food, after having it recommended to me many, many times by family and friends. I’m delighted to say that it didn’t disappoint. The food was absolutely delicious, well presented and very tasty. The service was excellent and the staff very friendly and pleasant. They also have a fantastic vegetarian/vegan menu!I will definitely be returning and can happily highly recommend a visit.

We ate here on Saturday as a party of four and it was superb yet again. Black Polish sausage was so rich and well cooked, the pork tenderloin was brilliant and both the duck and the chicken fell off the bone. The pork fillet was delicious too. Great atmosphere with friendly service. Worth every penny and well worth a visit.

There was pulled pork wrap, egg sandwich, pastrami sandwich, mushroom pate on toast, pumpkin cake, banana panna cotta, meringue with cream plus berries and mini brownies. Tea was in plentiful supply. This is our 2nd visit and I am pleased to say it was just as good as our first. I had fishcake starter followed by confit duck leg. OMG it was so tasty. My mum had black pudding sausage for starters followed by the pork cheeks. She's never been so quiet. Cooked to perfection and the service excellent. My favourite lunch place to eat. Surprised that it wasn't packed to the rafters but then perhaps I should keep it my little secret. Can not recommend this place enough! Amazing.

Went today for lunch and again the food was top notch. After a warm welcome we were given time to look at the menu then came and took our order for food and drinks. We had the two polish sausages and roast potatoes with sour cucumber and a mustard sauce which was really tasty and filling. For pudding we had the caramelised banana and the fruits of the forest crumble and ice cream...again top notch quality and tasted amazing. Top marks for the whole experience.

He have eat the most tasty lunch in the area. As a starter we've eat mushroom soup and it worth the choice, it was very creamy. I trully recomend the food, but also the restaurant for the privacy(nice and quiet). We can't wait to come back.

Myself and two others had lunch here last weekend. The food is simply incredible and great value. Service is spot on and the venue is so welcoming and fresh. I had the chicken dish and every aspect of it was cooked to perfection. I genuinely haven't had such a great dish where each aspect is amazing on its own but also pulls everything else together in aspect long long time. The owners should be very very proud of this gem of a restaurant.

Having read the 5 star reviews on tripadvisor we decided to give this place a try. We were not disappointed. The food was amazing and such good value. The service was also exceptional. We will be going again soon. Highly recommended.

1st time at Passion, stunning meal , everything explained by the lovely waiter , fine dining at its best , lovely fresh ingredients and a great take on Polish food at its finest. If you want something different then this is a must .Small intimate dinning venue , lovely

A small, intimate place with delicious Polish food served with warmth and efficiency. I recommend anything and everything from the menu. Our favourites are starters of the kaszanka balls and the creamy mushroom soup. Mains of, difficult to choose, but i’ll plump for the braised pork cheek with Silesian dumplings. Les goes for the confit duck leg. He’s also partial to the 2 types of Polish sausage. I don’t usually eat dessert. Can’t keep Les away from The Pavlova. All in all a super place with Jacek and Aleksandria making it a real pleasure to visit.

The Mrs was wanting to try passion food resteraunt for some months now, we finally got the opportunity so gave them a whirl... The dining experience can be described in a single word.... WOW.... What a stunning place, love the food, service is excellent and the ambience is very soothing... Definitely a place to let your hair down and relax whilst enjoying a fantastic dining experience.. Would recommend passion food resteraunt very highly... You'll have to travel many miles to find better....

After a visit with friends to an exhibition at the Cooper Gallery, we left by the back exit an found this little gem virtually outside the back door of the gallery. We were too late to look around town to find anywhere that served lunches after 3pm, but we decided to try to get something here. We were so glad we did. We received a very warm welcome to this small but cosy little Polish restaurant. My friend's husband is gluten free and the young man who served us was only too happy to give him all the information he required. There were 4 of us and we each had something different from the other and all of us commented on how good it was. I had the grilled Polish sausage, my husband had the chicken, my friend had the burger and her human had the duck. The service was excellent. We shall definitely be going again when we go to Barnsley.

After seeing other good reviews for this restaurant we decided to book for lunch to celebrate a birthday. Wow, we were not disappointed. You can buy a two course meal for just £11 during lunchtime service and the quality is that of fine dining. Every member of our party said their meal was delicious and the presentation was excellent too. What;s more, this quaint, off the beaten track restaurant has beautiful decor without being pretentious and has a lovely intimate feel about it. The service was outstanding by the couple who own it, they were very accommodating and great to talk too. I have no hesitation in recommending this place and will certainly be returning to sample their evening menu.

Four of us dropped in for an impromptu late lunch after a visit to the Cooper Gallery, practically next door. So glad we did, as this place is fabulous. Small but cosy with a fresh modern feel.The lovely lad serving was welcoming and friendly as soon as we walked in. Very accommodating of my husbands gluten free requirements, went through everything available.Food was great, the polish sausages in particular were so tasty and everything was freshly cooked and well presented. The quality of the food is even more amazing for the price, £41 for four mains, two sparkling waters a coffee and a Corona. Called around 1.30 for lunch, we knew to expect a wait as everything is cooked fresh to order, we were the only ones in and yes it took quite a while but so well worth waiting for. The food is always first class, it’s a shame we can’t get in to Barnsley more often, but my waistline is thankful. I had the soup and then Chicken with an amazing mushroom sauce, I resisted a desert! We chose Passion Food cafe and restaurant based on the reviews and the menu we saw on the website. We were not disappointed. The cafe is small, but has a friendly atmosphere and the service is very good. The food was excellent and we will definitely go again. We visited Passion Food restaurant as a group of 12 for a private dining experience for a birthday celebration. Jack the owner was incredibly attentive, he couldn’t do enough for you and the food really was exquisite with a variety of flavours and good portion sizes. I highly recommend.

To Yorkshire for Christmas to catch up with the family, Mother booked Passion Cafe.In short, I was very pleasantly surprised. The Cafe is small but tastefully dressed, it feels very welcoming. FOOD:Wild mushroom soup with gorgonzola was a treat, as was the pork tenderloin with a red pepper sauce. The traditional roast turkey, roast potatoes etc again a real treat. This was the most moist and tender Turkey I've every eaten, sorry Mother. Christmas pudding was rather so so, but the Petit fours, mini mince pies and coffee were a nice way to finish the meal.WINE:The wine list was, lets say, rather compact but the quality against price was amazing.The silent star of the whole lunch was the highly professional, yet invisible waiter(proprietor I suspect), someone who clearly knew what he was doing.....SUMMARY:Michelin star dining it is not, but Very Good it is. This little Cafe is clearly 2 country miles better than any of the other local eateries which I've had the misfortune to endure. We went here for a family birthday and though I didn’t eat a lot I really enjoyed it and would love to go back to try some of their other meals.It’s quite small with only a couple of tables inside, there were around 12 of us that came so there wasn’t a lot of room but the service was great.I just had the soup and I though it was lovely with lots of flavour. Everyone else raved about all their food. I don’t think anyone had a bad meal. The staff were really lovely and I’d love to go back to try some new things on the menu!

Went for intimate anniversary meal mid week. It was very quiet in fact we were the only couple in the restaurant. In fact I would say it’s more of a little cafe actually. It is very small indeed, smaller than I had imagined. The service was average, nothing special. The wine options are limited. They don’t have champagne, which is nice for an occasion Or celebration.The food was very nice, although not a huge choice. All in all a pleasant dining experience but maybe could be improved.

On a recommendation, we visited the restaurant yesterday at 1200. We left at 1330 having received a bowl of soup, two chicken salads, a coffee and a slice of bread. We left the ordered fruit crumble in the kitchen waiting for it to be prepared.The staff seemed to have no concept of time, and gave us promises they did not keep. Even the slice of bread needed a reminder and still took 20 minutes to arrive. In the 90 minutes we were there, the restaurant dealt with five other people, so was not overworked. After two reminders we decided to leave.However, the food was delightful, full of flavour and well prepared, and we had no complaints about it. Maybe we arrived on an off day. If it gets it timing right, this is a restaurant worth visiting.

Visited Barnsley after 20 years and found this excellent restaurant with superb food. Everything is freshly prepared and delightfully different and flavoursome. I had the pork cheeks and dumplings, my husband had chicken with an amazing mushroom sauce. We’d definitely go again!
