We live in country where we don’t carry ID. Yet you asking for ID at 8pm just to have a drink. We don’t drive. So no driving licence either. Very rood female and male security at the door.

I was with my friends. We were asked for ID at 8 pm on a Saturday evening. We just wanted a drink. One of my friends is 75. He was very disturbed to be told that he couldn’t come in because he wasn’t carrying his passport. What is happening to this country?

Drinks were quite pricey but a nice venue. They also needed an extra pair of hands on the bar as it got busier

Food was unacceptable, out of 9 of us 7 didn't eat. Service slow and drinks not filled quickly enough. Most of the people there also complained. Would not recommend. Not worth £42.50 each, and complaints on the night not taken seriously. They wouldn't refund and have not replied to any of my emails

Not really my pint pot of beer, but is nicely decorated and has a large selection of drinks. Can't comment on the music but the speakers looked good quality!

Less space than before , quite crowded with bar at the very back ,meaning it is difficult to get to order the drinks .Good music .

I just had a great night with my friends here. We had the bottomless Fridays deal, and enjoyed tasty food and bottomless drinks in a friendly and relaxing atmosphere. The dj played some great tunes, which just seemed to get better as the night went on! We wanted to thank Diane who looked after us all night, topping up our drinks which kept flowing! Nothing was too much trouble for her, and she was so helpful and friendly. Thank you, We will be back!

Me my mum and sister came here for brunch. We had the best time. The food was so good, the service was amazing drinks constantly flowing and so friendly. Atmosphere was great and loved the dancers. We will definitely be back. Couldn't fault this place at all x

Charged £5 for entry into an empty venue. Slow service at the bar. Very disappointing overall. Don't understand why the basement wasn’t open? Charged £21 two double vodka lemonades - quite some distance outside of London?

We had our wedding at Water Lane and Gosh it was the best decision we could've made! The entire staff were some of the most professional and friendly people we've ever dealt with. The venue manager Mike was absolutely outstanding, he answered any questions we had and helped with every single request we had, no matter how small or big it was. The food and drinks were a premium quality. We received so many compliments from our guests regarding the service and how delicious everything was. We didn't have to worry about anything and had the best day of our lives. I can't express how thankful we are to Mike and Water Lane for everything. We would highly recommend this stunning venue to anybody and Water Lane would always have a very special place in our hearts. ❤️

Really good atmosphere music was great , came for bottomless brunch , food was ok .. only concern is the amount of drink the staff where handing out , understand it’s bottomless drink but you could visibly see really intoxicated people that where being handed more drink , didn’t really feel safe was a concern for other people , shouldn’t be handing that amount of drink over to people that already already that drunk becomes dangerous

Louise and Harrison were fantastic for service. Shame about the manager visibly so miserable the entire service. Credit to L&H for working so hard to save the service from his efforts to wreck the day.

if you want a quality nightout, very respectful doorman, great Djs and people are just out for good friend vibes.. waterlane lounge is the place to be... i would of given it a 5/5 if it stayed open later then it does lol

Came here to celebrate wifes birthday. Stayed for best mini burgers I have tried in last couple years in Bishop's. Real flame grill taste. Service professional and nice. Excellent music and atmosphere. Really love it here. Recommend this white Italian wine. Will come again, recommend 10/10

We came for the drag brunch which was amazing and definitely made it worth the money. Drinks and service were so good also, the only thing that let it down was the amount of food for the money. We still had such a good night though thanks to the entertainment!

Lovely place, great for drinks and food, loved it!

It was a really lovely venue. The only points were that we had reserved the upstairs mezzanine for a celebration and a staff member said they would send staff up to take drink orders - that didn't happen once all night. Other than that, it was great. Drinks menu is good, cocktails were good and the music was ok for the most part.

They don't accept legal tender in the form of cash. Awful and illegal

I went to this place for bottomless brunch. The food was absolutely amazing good value for money and would highly recommend 5 stars from me.

You have to walk what feels like a mile to get to the bar and then hope to god you don't faint from the prices of the drinks, the staff there were the most unhappiest I've ever seen (I understand being around drunk people while sober is annoying but still) plus there's not much space to move

Hi everyone, I don’t know if anyone read this, The reason way I put one star, as is the main Barman is being very disrespectful for a colleague I don’t know her name, He sprayed her breast with water and start laughing about it, and I can see in her eyes she didn’t feel comfortable. He done it on the front of all people.

I went since they reopened. It was really fantastic. You can tell they’ve taken real care to make it a great experience. They’ve hired very experienced bartenders and the cocktails are very well made. There is no where similar to this or to the same high standard in Bishops Stortford so I am sure they will do really well.

Took a very very long time to get served, there was no order to who got served when and new people walked up and got served before me. Drink was good when I eventually got it and talented band playing.

2 levels, 2 bars, one for chill with live music, downstairs for party with dj. Fun, party or both

Every time I get to the door the security is nice and funny guy that makes the good start! First time the was downstairs celebrate and have a night out but after I had a chance to see the top floor... Is an amazing space with great live music and the decoration is spot on! Bartenders are passionate by their job and that made us have an interesting night in this very cozy environment! Enjoined many nights over there and hopefully many more to come!

A Friday evening. Upstairs bar with hourly changing live music nicely spaced out candle lit tables and attentive barman service. Downstairs for a more full on upbeat dj evening dancing and cocktails in the charming cellar area. Good doorman security.

Great atmosphere with cocktail bar downstairs with good happy hour offers from 5 - 10 for £5. Food was good quality with a performing pianist adding to the experience.

Service was incredibly slow, started to go up to bar to order drinks as waiter no where to be seen. Food was mostly good apart from the cod curry dish which was disappointing.

As steak is my husband's favourite and it was his birthday and someone told me this place had the best steak in Stortford, I attempted to book via email one month in advance. I asked if they had availability on the day I required and if they accepted children in the evening. A week before the birthday, no one had responded at all, so I rang in. Thankfully I was still able to book and booked at 4pm as I was told they didn't accept children after 6pm (important to note). I also asked for a child's high chair at the time. Upon arrival, I was asked two different times if I needed a high chair (slightly irritating as I'd already asked for it in advance at booking). Service was quick but food was less than inspiring - my husband ordered medium well and it came out charred well done. I asked him to send it back but he said he didn't want the trouble. Needless to say, this made me feel bad as I so wanted him to have a wonderful experience on his birthday. :( We also had to wait an extremely long time for our mains. I don't understand why this was because aside from one other table that only looked like they were having drinks, we were the only party in the restaurant. With two children under five with us, I'm sure I don't have to go into how the longer the wait, the more unfortunate it became. Positives: the appetizer platter that came with the prawns, hummus, chicken wings and camembert was extremely delicious and the ambiance was also very warm and uniquely inviting.

What an absolute wonderful venue , I usually hate NYE due to overcrowding but waterlane and it's wonderful staff have changed that . No ridiculous queues , enough room to enjoy the night , fantastic D.Js upstairs and down , a cross mix of people , some really dressed up others in jeans , constant food offered from yummy home made burgers to smoked salmon , complimentary prosecco, and balloon drop at midnight . This is now my new favourite spot in town .

Drinks far too expensive and the crowd are very pretentious

None of the several steaks we ordered were cooked to our liking, they had to take them back. It was also a very cheap dry meat. The service was excellent though, the servers were always available.

A quiet Thursday even though a DJ was on

We enjoyed our evening on Sat, the band were fab. The food was nice but the menu seems to have shrunk considerably. I was really surprised that it seemed to be more light bites than dinner. We did enjoy what we had though and the staff were nice. It was quite quiet for a Sat evening and I wondered if the change to the menu is the cause. It was a bit busier by the time we left

Well thought out menu of really tasty food. Excellent service and the best Bloody Mary I have had in a long time
