Worst experience in 20 years - 45 minute wait for food brought by unsupervised youths and food very ordinary if not downright poor.

Hard to fault this place. Excellent, totally excellent, pizzas. Gluten free options abound and are really good too. Staff lovely and super efficient I'd visit again for sure

Great place for special occasions

Always been an essential malmesbury institution, however the prices seem to be creeping up at an alarming rate. The last straw was paying £18 for a pizza that gave me food poisoning, sad to say that I won't be going back

Having tried two different types of pizza here l can't say that the pizzas are the nicest! I found my tomato and cheese pizza very dry and not much topping no melting cheese and missing flavour. The staff were very nice and cheerful. Disappointing really.

Delicious food and plenty of it for the price the stromboli was double portion bigger than anywhere I have been in the World! Recommend them to everyone 👍 👌 👏 😀

Quite an eclectic interior. Good service but slightly overpriced for the type of food on offer. Just a personal opinion.

Pretty restaurant but food and service mediocre. Food over complicated and odd. Arrabiatta pasta with cold red onion and other bits on top like a bruschetta topping. No chilli at all from what i could tell. Poor service, had eaten half of it before reminded the waitress to bring some parmesan. For the high prices it was disappointing

This is my absolute favourite restaurant in Malmesbury, my partner and I have been several times as we had our first date here. The selection of pizzas is huge and they never disappoint. The decor is just lovely and the atmosphere is always enjoyable. We actually just got engaged here so I'm sure we will be back again and again. The pulled pork starter is our fav to share 👌👌👌

Stopped here last year on our trip to Wales and had to go again due to the amazing food! Will stop again and might even make a trip out've Windsor as it was so good 👍

Oh my gosh!!! 👏 🙀 amazing memorable night for my belated birthday gift. Wish we came here the weekend. Mouth watering meatball starter. Oozing cheese and flavoursome tomato sauce The pizza was well, speechless. Full of rich flavour, freshness, great mixture of ingredients coming together Lovely service and great ambience. Lovely walk in a pretty high street. Definitely coming again. We loved it so much.

End of term meet up for late lunch with friends. Staff were really patient with us and the children despite being busy with multiple birthday celebrations. Pizza was outstanding as always!

Funky decor Neutral service Pizza was not bad but very bland and lacking flavors. The crust reminded me a bit of frozen pizza. And with GBP 13 for a margerita and GBP 17 for a standard, it seemed to prizy for the quality.

This was a great find whilst wondering through Malmesbury. They have a service hatch for takeaway pizzas which opens on to the street with a lovely aroma of freshly cooked pizzas which attracted our attention and caused us to return another evening. We phoned to reserve a table which was a good choice as the restaurant filled up whilst we were there. Lovely friendly atmosphere, background music just right to batch the ambience. We had the sharing starter platter followed by pizzas which were all delicious. The service was very friendly, very timely and the right level of attentiveness. If you're in Malmesbury would recommend stopping off and trying the restaurant.

Went in on Friday lunchtime. The lady manager and young gentlemen who served me were a delight. They recommended the Harper's Lane which was delicious. I shall be going back! 😊😊😊

Stopped for a quick lunch and enjoyed a lovely shared pizza with great wine & coffee. The waitress was delightful and really friendly. A superb place to eat for lunch & dinner as well decorated with cosy romantic booths on the lower floor.

I’ve ordered here a few times now and I must say I’m always disappointed. The spicy vegetarian pizza and the vegetarian one with pesto and rocket are both covered in oil, to the point that it soaks through to the base and ruins the pizza. The level of topping varies depending on the visit. service is exceptional.

We didn't want a big meal and just decided to share a starter and then share the Christmas Dinner pizza. Both were superb and the atmosphere and friendliness of the staff were top notch

The atmosphere and the staff are great in this place. The food is okay, it just needs a bit of tweaking to make the whole experience fantastic. Such as using meatballs which aren’t super processed tasting or swapping out raw onions in a salad to something like avocado or mozzarella. I really like how each menu item is named after a local place or thing to do with Malmesbury.

Lovely little restaurant situated in the middle of the town, friendly staff and great food, the only slight negative was the service time, seemed to sit around and wait quite a bit fir the food to turn up, good job it wasn't busy. Would definitely go back again.

We took our teenage Son here who happens to be autistic. They were very clued up on autism and even offered to turn the music down. They allowed him to bring his little dog in with him and even gave his support dog some water. The food and service could not be faulted and the owner/manager even showed me around and told me some of the history of the building. I could not fault them. The best service and food at reasonable prices.

Came here for a colleagues leaving lunch and I loved the place. Food was great. Service was just right between attentive and not overbearing, and the place feels like a little hub of meeting place and conversation.

There are so many pizza places around these days that it must be hard to stand out, but The Birdcage have absolutely got it right. From the rustic Italian style decor to the friendly and efficient staff, you feel welcome as soon as you walk in. The pizzas - of which there is a large selection - are excellent, with something for everyone, vegans, vegetarians and people who want gluten free, included. They have everything from the usual pepperoni through to more unusual combinations of falafel and everything in between. They have other items on the menu, including pasta and very nice Stromboli pizza rolls. They also sell cocktails, mixed drinks and the very nice local "Flying Monk" beers, all in an informal atmosphere (with great music). It's not the first time I've been there and I will be back - recommended.

I love their pizzas and desserts, they're definitely the best in town & this is a great place to come to eat - with consistently clean, well cooked food, ideal for families, couples and singles. Long may it last!

Recently visited with my Mum for a coffee. First time visiting and my goodness what a lovely place to sit, relax and enjoy the atmosphere. Coffee was great tasting and they accommodated with oat milk. Thank you for making us feel welcome. Next time I’m coming back for pizza! They looked lush.

Great service with friendly staff. I am not a fan of pizza from chain restaurants, so avoid them. This lovely restaurant serves excellent pizza on a proper thin based and cooked very well. They offer a 9 inch or 12 inch, which is good if you don't want a huge pizza. I can recommend the sundae desert, which is very naughty but a nice treat. The big thing for us is they allowed our dog into the restaurant. We also witnessed the staff being very helpful to other tourists. Overall, a lovely place to eat.

Love it here, great pizzas (and food in general). I'm slowly working my way through all of them and not found one I dont like yet. Lovely relaxed atmosphere inside and great service. Good local beers, and love that the pizzas are named after places around Malmesbury. 10/10

Have had some amazing food and service here over the years. Service was okay. The soft pizza was disappointing and lacking in flavour.

A very pleasant pizza restaurant. Very different from the big chains, having a more homely atmosphere. An interesting menu with the pizzas being named after local people and places (such as The King Athelstan). Prices are reasonable, but there is a lunchtime deal in which any 9" pizza is the same price (£9 at time of writing, but don't count on that if you're reading this much later). The bases are clearly hand made, and to order, so at busy times there may be a bit of a wait, but the wait is definitely worth it. One of the most delicious pizzas I've ever had.

I was really looking forward in going to The Birdcage for my birthday treat and maybe the expectation played a part in my disappointment. We arrived and were shown to our table and waited and waited and waited. None of the staff came to ask us what we wanted a drink. I've never experienced this before in any other restaurant. We did try to attract the attention of the waiting staff as they served other tables but they seemed oblivious to our presence. After twenty minutes or so I had to go and ask for someone to come take our drinks order. The service did improve but the shine had been taken off the evening. It is a shame really because we've eating at The Birdcage a number of times so had high expectations. The food was nice, which made up for the initial disappointment.

Lovely and cosy atmosphere with great food and amazing staff

First time we've been here. We all had pizza. All the pizzas were on a very thin base, 2 or 3mm thick and very greasy. This made them very sloppy and you had to eat them with a knife and fork. Not great. Good service and atmosphere tho.

Just disappointed in the food. I got the stromboli that came with a sweet chilli dip. Not sure sweet chilli goes with tomato and cheese flavours resulting in the combination a bit of a mess.

Personal and still professional and very popular, so make sure you pre book, as we witnessed several customer's being turned away as they had not booked. Plenty of choice with a strong Italian theme menu, and reasonable prices for great wine. Pretty decor which has been prepped for valentines dates with numerous tea lights. Finally the toilets squeaky very clean. Would definitely recommend.

Amazing pizza, with an amazing array of interesting topic combos. We had the pulled pork one and the bechamel-prosciutto one, both incredible. Good atmosphere and service. Would definitely come again, especially to try different toppings!

We have eaten in and had takeaway from here. They are amazing as they offer gluten-free and lactose-free alternatives for people with dietary requirements.

We absolutely loved our experience at the Bird Cage! The staff were amazing; Joe and Lilen were incredibly friendly and helpful. And the food was PERFECTION! Each member of our group (4 adults total) rated our meal 5 stars. Definitely go if you’re in the area! (And if you aren't sure what to choose, get what Joe recommends. We loved everything suggested!)
