Food v Limited. Service, here today, gone tomorrow.

Went there with a friend for the Sunday roast. The chicken and lamb both tasted well. There were only few customers at that time, but the service was fast and friendly. From the inside it seems more like a restaurant than a pub. From the outside it is just a beautiful location and very inviting pub.

I asked for Roast Beef on a Sunday We got cheap rubber steak with greens potatoes and a frozen Yorkshire pudding. The back house kitchen staff buying drugs from a boy on bicycle. The only pub in the UK that doesn’t except cash. The pandemic is over 3 years ago. Personally the owners need to up there game or give up. I am a chief from a small Somerset restaurant. Don’t get yourselves ripped off.

What a great find this was, late on a Saturday evening we managed to get great food, lovely drinks and the atmosphere was fantastic, best playlist I've heard for a long time as well. Will go again if I'm in the area

A gem of a restaurant that we found by simply walking the neighborhood where we booked a flat. With a warm and welcoming atmosphere, their starter plates are a meal unto itself and are absolutely delicious (although the lamb was a tough - I might skip this dish). The beef short rib and beef ragu were incredible. There is an extensive wine list and cocktails and their main meal menu appeals to everyone. The service was a bit of a miss on our first night but our second visit Melilla took amazing care of us. Highly recommend to anyone looking for an amazing meal in a cozy neighbourhood atmosphere. The few shortcomings we encountered does not take away from the 5 stars it deserves.

Our waitress was fantastic, the drinks were good. Personal option all the dishes we had were oiler than I would have liked. My New Yorker husband ( pizza fussy) ate his pizza but said it was pricey for what it is.

The food is in a weird place between pub and restaurant that doesn’t really work and ends up being expensive for what it is. When we were there u needed ~2.5main courses for a full meal. Each dish is basically pub food but in a tiny portion. They also do pizza but at a price of £18 its quite expensive and not that nice. Staff were nice nothing to complain about and the atmosphere was good too. Would not eat here again but happy to go for a drink.

Very popular with the locals. Hellingly expensive food for a boozer, but you may have a small wait at the bar for a table most nights. Staff are helpful and food is good if you like pizza.

5 stars across the board. The food and wine were delicious. Highly recommend the pizza. Loaded fries are to die for. Service was exceptional, all the staff are kind and welcoming. Shout out to Lyza/Aliza, such a friendly and warm soul. Atmosphere is great, good music, old timey feel. Has quickly become my favourite spot in the city

We went here for a Sunday night meal (mid December) after visiting Kew Christmas Lights. It was the perfect local hideaway bistro with a great buzzy Christmas vibe to complement the fun time we had had in Kew. We arrived late, having just about managed to keep our reservation time but the front of house manager was great and accommodating. All the food choices were excellent - we loved the format of the small plate options, as well as possibility to have pizzas (which looked excellent). I'd recommend this place to anyone who is staying in the vicinity of Brook Green / Olympia/Hammersmith/Fulham - the Bird in Hand turned out to be a wonderful choice for us!!

As my belly was a-rumbling, we arrived at this cosy restaurant, ready for some cheesy, doughy delicious to enter our mouths, but alas something was anew. The small plates menu was awash with new and varied dishes that immediately caught my eye. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable about the updated menu and delivered some top notch choices for us. The octopus was cooked to perfection with a mouthwatering sauce, the prawn gnocchi was a delight as the flavours were tingling on my tongue, and the sweet potato wellington was the most mouth-watering and flavourful vegetarian dish I’ve had in years. As for the drinks, the festive mint chocolate martini was a devine cocktail concoction. What made the place was the ambience and staff. The staff with exceptional information about the items they sell as well as their positive attitude added to the warm, cosy but cool vibe to this place. Safe to say, I came for a White Russian, but I stayed for the hot Bulgarian. 5/5 would recommend to all the friends

There I was minding my own business, walking the streets of west London when I stumbled on this magical restaurant from another world. The octopus was omnipotent, the wine was whimsical, the pizza was premium, the ragu was radical, the tiramisu left tears in my eyes, and the service was absolutely scrumptious. If you’re anywhere in the Greater Britain area I highly recommend you skip down to brook green and pop a squat at this diamond in the rough! Thank you, bye

Very busy Saturday lunch. Lots of children there. Card only and as I only had cash and no change cost me £10 for a pint. 5 minutes walk from Olympia.

Great little find, recommend by our AirBnB host. We enjoyed a lovely bottle of wine and split the Prosciutto pizza. It was amazing! Great attentive service without overshadowing us. The Thursday evening we were there they only opened at 5:00 pm.

Came for dinner on Friday evening. Cosy atmosphere - beautiful lighting. Pizza was probably one of the best we've ever had. To top it off the service and in particular Eliza, was top notch. Highly recommended.

We had a lovely evening at The Bird in Hand, delicious small bites followed by a tasty pizza. Our waitress Eliza was lovely, really attentive and helpful. When a third friend joined us towards the end of the evening she even suggested we move to a bigger more comfortable table. Excellent evening largely thanks to Eliza.

Took over an hour to receive the food. Had to wait 10 minutes to get a menu. Got two dry “beef sirloin’s”. The pizza was literally like cardboard the sauce and cheese were completely dry. Disappointing.

A table for two was booked for 7pm. The service was poor from the outset. A starter of mixed bread with an olive oil based dip apparently did not warrant side plates, so an involuntary mess was made on the table. There were two glasses on the table but tap water was not offered. Indeed, the pre-ordered drinks did not materialise for a good 10 minutes, so there was nothing to wash the starter down with. The draft beer, it must be said, was excellent (Tribute). When the main course eventually arrived, it was immediately apparent that my Margheurita was virtually cold. The base was very dry and the toppings of tomato and cheese were coagulated. When I indicated this to the manager he simply whisked my plate away, without proper apology. He returned a few minutes later informing me that the same pizza had been reheated! Unsurprisingly, it was still barely hot, and the crust had merely further hardened etc. No check was made to see if the meal was “fine”. When I indicated my dissatisfaction to the manager on exit, he shrugged his shoulders and made no offer of apology. On this basis I would strongly not recommend this establishment for anyone expecting decent food or service. The tables are bunched very close together and the atmosphere was very noisy. Avoid at all costs!

I was very disappointed today. Have been frequenting the place very often on weekends, food service and music always good… was always happy to be there… today the service was terrible, never got the olives but they were in the check (they did take them off after I explained I never got them)… managed to get one beer in one hour was never offered a second after having service walk by at least 5 times with an empty glass on the table. The pizza is always amazing but I was annoyed to the point I paid and walked out to get food elsewhere. I hope it was just a one off bad day…

DO I REALLY HAVE TO BOYCOTT THIS PLACE ??? I'm really worried about this cashless situation that has continued after Covid. The Havelock across the road doesn't either. Same at Italian and Serpentine cafes in Hyde Park. I'm really uncomfortable . Why can't i use my money ? SO disappointing . I think it's so important. I want to be able to use cash. There are many people who can't have a card for obvious reasons, as well as those we don't know about. What about that money kids might get in their birthday card . Or when you start to encourage then to go up to the counter to pay for the first time and then show them what the change is . Every place I go the staff say they agree but can't do anything because they are not the decision makers. EVERYWHERE ! Well I've spoken to the manager at The Bird in Hand where I get my guilty pleasure of the very best Pizza in town (and I'm not even a fan of Pizza) and he says he'll pass it on but I'm not feeling positive. I said I'll give them a month and if it doesn't change i won't be going back. I'll really miss my rare treat enormously but I'm not sure what else I can do to make my point . I don't think they will care, but I will. Not good to have bad feelings in the community.

Great atmosphere for mid week, food tasty and simple. Had to ask for pepper and water. Think water forgotten,so had to chase. All in all a nice experience.

Oh! My word! Such delicious food! We had Shin beef ragu, and the beef was so tender that it melted in the mouth, and the ragu flavours danced on you pallet. We ordered a side order of delicious dirty fries, which were almost as good as the Shin beef, but my goodness, we didn't need them. Wish we lived closer to come more often!! Fantastic staff who I meant to leave a tip for but forgot - sorry!!

Delicious food, fantastic service and a beautiful venue. An added bonus is that the staff are all very good looking.

This was the first time I ever ate all the side salad on my plate. It was THAT good. I ordered the seabass and my family had their pizza (they have a fantastic pizza section on the menu), the beef steak and ragu. Absolutely stunning!

It’s a beautiful location with nice food and drink. The staff are very inattentive and food is expensive. £19 for a chicken caesar salad, and then 15% gratuity automatically added even when I ordered at the bar.

BEST PIZZA IN LONDON! The Bird in Hand has quite literally the best pizza’s in the whole of london in my mind! My absolute favourite is the Zuccini and truffle oil pizza - it’s super tasty and full of flavour with the most delicious light and crunchy base. It’s the best!!

Slightly slow service but amazing food!

Would eat here once or twice a month. Had booked for dinner. Food was great . A lady seated next to us as part of a couplecwas vaping . Nothing was done so I had to mention to her that while I didn't object that I did have an issue with being seated next to them . The staff should have picked this up and we shouldn't have had to insert myself into policing the issue. My wife then noted that another person a few tables away was also vaping . Perhaps the staff should step up and deal with these issues. We like the Bird in the Hand and would recommend it as a neighbourhood style restaurant .

Food is fine but do bring your own smile. Quality vegetables, good food, large choice but a pity in terms of service.

After a day spent entirely around London, grinding 26 km on foot, we found refuge in this place. The pizza was good and crunchy. Finding a seat that did good food after 9pm was like receiving a miracle.

Amazing quaint place which has been done up really well. Great menu when you look at it on paper. Really deserves a chef to matches all of that as the food is average at best and pretty spenny considering it’s over glorified school food standards. Sorry chef, don’t mean to criticise, but I went three times and each time was left disappointed. Not coming back anytime soon.

Lovely pub with delicious treats!

This is literally the best espresso martini I’ve ever had in my life. Everything about the presentation and experience made this an unforgettable experience. Each sip was a new experience where I discovered a piece of myself. Malila had an impressive performance for her fourth shift behind the bar. She has potential but worth the right training from her manager, she’ll go far here. I highly recommend whether you’re visiting London for a honeymoon or to mourn the passing of the queen, your trip will be incomplete unless you come here for an espresso martini. Mark my words.

We had booked the private dining room at The Oak W12 for March 4th for 18 of us in total however there was a power out meaning we had to find a plan B. The team at the Oak were straight on the phone and moved our booking with absolute ease to one of their sister venues, The Bird in Hand, only 5/10 mins away. Despite the initial worry, they really put me at ease and were so helpful - these things happen!! When we arrived at the Bird in Hand, personalised menus were ready on the table, the room was BEAUTIFUL and our lovely waiter, Sebastian, introduced himself. You would never have known that he had not worked at this venue before and I cannot express enough how much he made our evening! Service was slick, nothing was too much trouble (we aren't a quiet bunch and wine was flowing so props to him for putting up with us too!!). He was so professional and helpful and really took the time to personally speak to my guests with dietary requirements too to make sure they were catered to. The food was delicious and so a huge shout out to the kitchen team for pulling together such an amazing menu with only a couple of hours notice! When it comes to splitting a bill between 18 people in their mid twenties, it's never plain sailing but Seb was brilliant, super on it and did all the maths for us (an absolute hero!) . I couldn't recommend The Oak W12 and The Bird in Hand more, we all had an amazing time!

More restaurant now but a beautiful old pub with a wonderful atmosphere. Cozy and romantic - lit with candles and fairy lights. Menu offers original fare above and beyond the regular pub staples. Anchovies on garlic toast with crispy dill was great. Salmon Risotto was also a massive success. Service was friendly and attentive too. Would recommend.

Sad disappointment. It has nice and cosy atmosphere. However, the service was far from good and the food was just ok. All dishes arrived separately (hard to believe) and nothing to highlight about them. They look good, but the taste was disappointing.

It’s the second time we have been here and every time there is a problem with the service. We wait one hour to have our dishes! We order starters, one arrives but not the other one, Then I have my main course but not my partner who has to wait 30 minutes more so mine is cold. They don’t apply basic service rules. And after that We ask the bill it never comes so we need to chase every waiters. Very disappointed because the venue is nice.

Loved the service and ambiance. Pizzas were delicious. But desserts were a let down. We got the salted caramel ice cream, which was too sweet for our liking and very small servings for the price.

Three pints of Guinness £20.00 & a pizza at £18.00. I would recommend Wetherspoons, for £20.00 you'd get ten pints of Doombar.

I'm reading weird reviews. Yes, it's expensive, but the ambiance and service are better than anything in the area. The pizza was really good. Thin crust, but definitely thoughtful. You know that restaurants are feeling the pinch too? Times are tight, food costs are up. This place has a nice buzz. Worth a good night out.

Arrived at 8pm for a table of 2. My girlfriend was running late so the waiter asked if i'd like a drink while i waited. He returned with it 10 minutes later and that was the last we saw of anyone. We sat there for 45 minutes trying to get the attention of any of the 4 wait staff with no luck. My girlfriend was not asked if she wanted a drink when she arrived and we weren't given any water. I could see 3 other tables also doing the same thing; the same unhappy look as conversation dies while they try to catch the wait-staff's attention. The staff didnt even look at us once, instead spending a large amount of time trying to work the POS terminal or dedicating half the team to clearing one table. Eventually it got to the point where we realised we'd have to get up and physically stop a waiter to get their attention. However my girlfriend had been a few weeks prior and the food had taken another 45 minutes to arrive. So being hungry and fed up by that point we decided to just leave and order Thai instead. I've never had to do that before and it was such a shame as the ambience was really nice and we'd had good recommendations from friends who had been last year.

Amazing Italian quizine and the greatest staff, always welcoming and helpful

This is precisely the sort of pub that needs to wake up to some current realities. Had pizza in the past but this time ordered pasta with some beef shin sauce and ended up getting a concealed lump with a tiny scrape of oil and sauce that was difficult to determine and was indigestible. When I complained and asked for a little more sauce the plate was taken away and returned precisely as it has been beforehand nor did anyone come back at any stage to see if it had been an improvement. It's an agreeable place with by London standards not such outrageous wine although that's not saying much but this was a quids worth of pasta presented for 22 quid and that's what you're getting and really not good enough at all so they need to wake up fast.

Really good restaurant and bar in the back street residential area behind Shepherds Bush. It's a little gem tucked away that you should visit. Their pizzas are very good. This last occasion we had the private room upstairs for a birthday party and the group food was also good.

Shared a delicious pizza and rocket salad. Good selection of wines. The place has a lovely atmosphere. The only thing I would suggest is that we could have been offered a drink more quickly when we arrived. Would definitely go again.

We have been coming here for years as it’s been a great local but recently service has declined and prices have increased significantly. It’s considerably understaffed and don’t be surprised to be waiting over an hour for a pizza. The staff turnover is high and while always friendly, they are overworked. Hopefully this will be rectified and the pricing structure improved as we were always big fans in the past.

Quite possibly the best pizza I have EVER had... and that is quite a compliment! Thin base, crispy crust.. Staggioni at its very best. The welcome was professional.. service efficient.. place was spotlessly clean.. beautiful decor.. but the food is just fabulous. I thought 9.50 for hummus was pricy.. but it's London...and the quality was so good... worth every penny. A real find and if I lived locally I'd definitely be a regular. On thing.. dear owner...please arrange a way that staff can get a tip via cashless. We never uses cash our entire 5 days in London...so didn't have actual cash with us. They deserved a tip ( and we found a solution) but we could do tips everywhere else on a card.. a minor quip in such a fantastic experience. Well done to all involved.

Came here for a birthday dinner with a large party last Saturday. The restaurant were very patient and accommodating to our changing needs - thank you for this. Meal was lovely - tasty pizzas and nice tapas with good service in a cosy, contemporary environment. Thank you to the team for bearing with our changes and looking after us so well. It's more of a restaurant than a pub, but nevertheless a solid local spot with a cozy and comfortable ambiance. The menu is a bit of a medley of cuisines, predominantly Italian — the pasta is very well put together and the pizza is a bit different (but it works). Don't miss it if you live in the neighbourhood.

Used to be one of the best pizzerias in town… not anymore. Prices have increased but the toppings are now sparse and not the same quality. My favourite pizza, the Parma, was just removed from the menu. My second favourite, the Picante, the name and ingredients were swapped with the Diavola, so when I order the picante I received a pizza that I didn’t want and don’t even like - quite disrespectful with frequent clients that know the menu by heart… quite a shame as the restaurant is beautifully decorated and has a great atmosphere, but if they don’t fix the quality vs price and keep making this changes on the menu out of nowhere, I believe that’s the end of a long term relationship…
