The Birches Restaurant in Wirral

Wentvon Burns night. Great food and atmosphere. The young people will enhance the trade in the coming years. I hope they stay local as they will enhance The Wirral and be a credit to themselves.

A group of 12 ladies had lunch at The Birches last week. Because of another large booking that day we were offered a set menu rather than the usual multi choices but this wasn’t a problem. The restaurant surroundings had changed from our last visit and was very bright and airy and the tables were all nicely spaced out. We were given a long table enabling us all to sit together. We were well looked after by the attentive students and it is extremely good value. The bread rolls were warm and freshly baked that day, the cauliflower soup was delicious and served hot. Our main course was really nice and served on hot plates - a plus. The panna cotta was delicious, as were the homemade shortbread biscuits. We finished with coffee and the student chefs welcomed our constructive feedback at the end of the meal. All in all a really nice experience which benefits both the students and the diners. We would recommend you go along and have lunch one Friday.

We have eaten here many times and it just gets better and better! We visited last night for a Valentines meal. The food was exceptional and I highly recommend this college restaurant. The food is cooked by the students and served by the students all with the guidance of their excellent tutors. We had a shared platter to start which was really lovely, for mains I had pork pork fillet with an apple and calvados sauce on a bed of apple mash, my hubby had fillet of salmon in a lattice of puff pastry with a cheese and dill sauce, for afters it was a trio of chocolate desserts, it was fantastic! Just like eating at a top restaurant! There is also a bar so you can have a drink with your meal, I had a wonderful Valentines cocktail called A Sicilian Kiss! it was lovely! The students are a credit to this college and the tutors work so hard. We will definitely be going back again and again!

unbelievable that the food is cooked and prepared by teenagers! Beautiful Chinese meal which was presented so professionally with excellent table service. Could not fault a thing. Price exceptionally reasonable and would definitely book again. Lots of different themed meals planned on a mainly weekly basis. Lovely atmosphere and can’t wait for Bollywood theme next week!! My wife and I have visited The Birches many times and have never been disappointed. We visited last week for an Italian meal which could not be faulted. The students are a credit to the college. They were polite, attentive and well mannered. The quality of the food and tastes could not be faulted. Thank you and well done to all for your hard work.

Lunched at The Birches today in a group of 18. The decor has altered since our last visit and really looks classy. Tables were laid very nicely and we were seated at two long tables. We had ordered our meals in advance from their pre-Xmas menu. A very good selection with choices of 3 starters, mains and desserts. Service was very good and the food presentation of restaurant standard. As the restaurant is part of the Wirral Met College it is a learning curve for the students and not priced for profit. Needless to say we all enjoyed lunch and gave our compliments to the young chefs and waiters/waitresses. The tuition received certainly paid off and I do hope that these young people prosper.

This restaurant is run mainly by students. 3 courses for £9, such good value as the food is good and well presented. We had a group of first year students and they did a really good job. The soup was delicious with a touch of cream on top. Chicken well cooked with all the veg and a yoghurt sauce. The meringue roulade with raspberries and cream was really excellent. There was a good choice on the menu - would highly recommend.

Visited this restaurant to sample a three course meal prepared by catering students. The quality was amazing and as good as I have had in any first class restaurant each course well presented and delicious . The young pupils waiting on and cooking where a credit and did an amazing job. This restaurant is open to the public but you need to book in advance and is a place I will definitely be returning .

Enjoyed our 3 course meal, everything was cooked and presented perfectly. Our waiter was extremely plesant, Cost wise, I consider it very reasonable I certainly would recommend this restaurant and will happily go again.

Myself and friends have been dining at The Birches for a number of years, both evening and lunchtimes. We were saying the other evening that none of us has ever been disappointed with our meals or service. Both have always been top quality. So much so, that this is our regular venue for celebrating special occasions now.

I have been to this restaurant a couple of times and each time was the most enjoyable experience from the amazing food that was being produced to the waitstaff that were on hand at all times. The ambience of the restaurant always compliment the themed menu that is being served on that particular night. The most surprising part of this restaurant is that it is a college and all the staff are students..... but they definitely have top restaurant material and will go far in their careers. If you want to experience a top quality evening book here....

I have been to this restaurant many times and I have always enjoyed a fabulous meal. The quality of the food and service are first class!! The students show enthusiasm and have pride in what they do. Our second visit to the Birches restaurant in Wirral Met College and both times the meals have been very good. The restaurant is staffed by students studying catering and is presided over by members of the college. Food is well cooked and presented, and the service is very good. Well done to the students and keep up the hard work!

This was a truly worthwhile experience. The service, the food everything about the place was superb. What makes it even more remarkable this is student ran restaurant and they should all be congratulated for a very enjoyable night. All staff had a smile and finally at a price that you cant turn your nose up at. Once they qualify some restaurants are going to get good quality staff.

All staff were friendly and courteous right from the start, very professional, better than some 'proper' restaurants you go to, considering they're all students!Excellent food cooked and presented to a high standard. The chefs coming out at the end of the meal to ask if everything was ok and if there were any recommendations or improvements was a nice touch... All you high street restaurants should take note

Yet another lovely meal at The Birches. The food is to a very high standard, it's hard to believe the food is cooked by students. I had the chicken dish and my friend had the pear & goats cheese pie and both dishes were lovely. The presentation on the plate was amazing and so was the price. Well done to the student chefs, and also the front of house students. They worked really hard , and they made us feel really welcome. We was that impressed that we have booked another table for one of the themed evenings on a Thursday night ( Caribbean night ). I will definitely be recommending The Birches to my friends.

The quality of food and service at this student run restaurant is outstanding and never fails to disappoint at a price which is both extremely affordable and fantastic value for money. We enjoyed the Thai Banquet last night and it was truly worthy of any five star establishment.

Another very enjoyable evening. The food is to a very high standard, it's hard to believe the food is cooked by students and not experienced professionals. The customer service was also delivered to a high standard. We were very impressed with Paige. I would expect to pay twice the price for food and service of this high standard. We will be returning and recommending The Birches to friends

The hardworking college staff at this restaurant eagerly steer the wonderful young people to reach excellent standards, it is a pleasure to watch them blossom as they develop and gain experience. Well done to them all for tonight's efforts and for facing their public in such a confident and welcoming manner. Eagerly look forward to next time.

Can't say enough good things about The Birches. The food was to a very high standard as was the service. Love how the students visit the tables after your meal to talk about what they cooked and what they've learned. Have already recommended The Birches to friends and family. Well done guys.
