The Billinge Arms in St. Helens

Ended up with the mega kebab box. Originally ordered the combo kebab, but it didn’t state it had cheese on the website, however the gentleman said they’re going to update it, and he generously gave me a mega kebab box instead. But no harm done, as I live around the corner. It was delicious. More than enough to share between 2 or more people (I ate half and saving rest for lunch and am still full). Recommended if you don’t fancy a curry and want something different. Two samosas, two chicken (pakoras?) two bahjis, Donna in masala sauce with chips and a giant nann at the bottom. Nice with chilli sauce

Probably the worst Indian takeaway I've ever had. Wasn't much cop when it was hamadam either. Save yourself the hassle and disappointment ,go to Indian palace in haydock or ba ba elephant up the road. Wouldn't recommend this place to anybody !

Very tasty, fresh and great value for money. I like their cooking as they don't seem to be using much artificial colourings like other indian restaurants do. Also some curries have quite a lot of whole chunky veggies in them. Naans are also great

Such nice e staff I ordere the wrong thing on the uber app and they fixed it for me and did not charge me for it even when I asked to pay they insisted that I did not need pay more. They also messaged me via Facebook asking if the food was 👍. I have had both of there box meals now and both where more than filling and the food was just perfect

Waited an hour after calling to pick up then 45 minutes when got to the shop. No organisation at all, chaos, and wrong orders given out.

Don't know if they were having an off night but it was not up to the standard of previous meals I've had. Ordered by phone and was told 20 minutes, It was a little longer than the 20 minutes when I got there and I was waiting another 10 before I got my order. When I got home to Garswood (5 mins) and opened the order the food was barely warm and needed a few minutes in the microwave to heat it up.

Absolutely will not be going here again an I suggest who ever is reading this to listen an take it on board as I’ve got severe food poisoning been up all night can’t keep anything down ruined my weekend billinge spice never again am this was my first time trying just stick to what u know

Asked Billinge Spice to copy a favourite meal from the description of another restaurant; they delivered and it was extremely close and very tasty. Many thanks.

Twice in the space of two weeks, I have ordered and it’s been cancelled on Uber eats. If you’re not open, switch your availability off. Gimps.

My new favourite take away, definitely recommend the paneer! Pleasant staff and amazing food, plenty for your money. Currently undergoing a renovation but still serving take out, the male your own set menu is absolutely great value. Keep up the good work!

Monday night last minute tea idea. We where not disappointed. Every dish was spot on. Well worth £17.85 for the set meal for two. I would highly recommend.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY! Order took 2 hours 20 mins. Wrong drink. Poppadoms horrible and food very bland. Really unsatisfying. Gutted I've wasted my money and the wait was so long to not be worth it atall.

Lovely fast delivery from uber . The food was hot and the curry was tasty , however we did not like the lamb as it was tough and old meat but I enjoyed the curry and vegetable rice and the spicy garlic naan was lovely . I prefer Adjanta in pemberton for their lamb dishes , as they use fresh tender lamb . I do recommend Billinge spice as the other things was nice

Food was good and staff were very friendly.

They couldn’t care less about allergy sufferers. Rang up for a takeaway and told the lad I had a severe peanut allergy. Asked if the korma contained peanuts and he said no just almonds and coconuts. I couldn’t have made it any more clear he needed to tell the chefs. But his blasé attitude on the phone had me guessing. Having tasted a tiny amount of korma, that’s when I knew something wasn’t right as my peanut allergy started to flare up. The wife rang up and demanded the lad on the phone ask the chef how he made the meal. He replied “oh I threw a few ground peanuts in, you can come and collect another meal if you wish”. At least they admitted it. Absolute joke of an establishment, they could have killed someone. Stay away if you have any kind of food intolerance!

Our first visit to Billinge Spice. We ordered the create your own set meal which was excellent value for money. Generous portions for starters. Mains were tasty and obviously made fresh. Only downside was the time we had to wait, but that's because they were busy. Worth the wait.

We ordered the set menu for 2 for 21.90. It came with lots and lots of delicious food. We couldn’t manage it all! Very happy with the order, it was great value, and will be heating the leftovers up tomorrow!

Awesome food with fantastic friendly staff

Poor food, asked for a chicken tikka balti, it was nothing like it !!! The chicken was plain chicken and not tikka, the sauce was just a generic curry sauce with a Chilli thrown in 👎nothing like a balti sauce and why too spicy, baltis aren't overly hot. Won't bother going again.

Chicken tika naan, starting to become an addiction 🤣 I've been around the world and honestly that chicken and naanif I ever move away I would fly back just to taste that heaven again. Heavily recommend, can't wait for the restaurant to open 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Birthday meal since we're in lockdown haven't been since name change and possibly new owners food is terrible chicken korma no sauce just chicken and coconut thick baby food consistency. Missing nan bread, my partner food same sagwalla just spinach and chicken inside the chicken gooey. STAY AWAY should have gone bar bar elephant just fancy something closer

Went here for lunch on wednesday 30th september.been a few times over the last couple of months.the food is gorgeous. I had the chicken supreme this time delicious. King prawn linguine is also a favourite.and the sweet potato fries are the best ive tasted.dionne is a great manager and the place just keeps getting better.was raining outside and we sat at a table in front of the fire.so cosy it was hard to leave.wine delicious and reasonable.we will definiteley be back and highly recommend people to visit.

The Billinge Arms has such a great atmosphere. The new manager, Dionne, & all of the staff are really polite, friendly & professional; they can’t do enough for you. We were served by Ruth & Sophie. The food was absolutely gorgeous. I had a chicken Sunday dinner, my friend had the beef Sunday dinner, & my daughter had some cheesy garlic bread & onion rings. We all finished with desserts, home made chocolate brownies and ice cream made by chef Adam. I highly recommend if you want some high quality home made food & a great atmosphere. We will be back again!

Have been visiting the arms over the last 6 weeks and have been very impressed with food. Staff. Social distancing. Keeping to guide lines taking names, hand sanitizer etc it was extremely busy when the eat out scheme was on but they managed extremely well due to Dionne and her staff. I hope people who took advantage of scheme still support them. Looking forward to my next visit next week

Fantastic fresh and tasty food! Definitely recommend. We had a treat night every Thursday during lockdown and the food was consistently great quality. Also ordered a large amount for my brother and son’s joint birthday celebration and even with the increased quantity the quality of food was excellent!

Just had a fantastic takeaway from the newly managed Hamadan. This was the first one but not the last.

Called in for Sunday dinner and when it came out one plate would feed 2 people and well worth the money fresh veg and lots of meet staff very friendly girl who was serving food was run off her legs she never stopped and kept coming over to us apologising about the wait but when it came it was well worth the wait and it was a nice time in-between courses so worked out good for us to let are food go down.

My fiancé’s birthday celebrations started on Thursday tea time with a family meal at The Eagle & Child. Gorgeous food, great attentive service and 12 of us ate for an unbelievable £131 (ex Drinks). On Saturday evening, we continued celebrating with a meal for just the two of us at The Billinge Arms’ Bellini’s restaurant. We’d looked forward to an evening out at the returning Italian restaurant. The pianist and singer were simply outstanding, unfortunately that’s the only positive part of our evening. After a 30 minute wait from our starters being hurriedly cleared, I asked when our mains would be served, to be told the kitchen thought they had completed all orders. Fair play, as we’d been forgotten about, the manager said she wouldn't charge us for our food. However, my request for a complimentary drink to accompany our food was met with gesticulations of disbelief from the manager (behind my back). I'm a glass half full person, but after over an hour wait, our glasses were empty! Our drinks request was agreed to, very slowly, by the time the drinks arrived, we simply wanted to leave. We paid for the bottle of wine and left frustrated and disappointed. I worry for their business when when such basic mistakes are made. We asked the waitress if they stocked a Sauvignon or a Pino and we were not offered a wine list, we were just given a very nice, but rather expensive bottle of Sauvignon. My better half has many years of experience in the food and pub industry and was baffled as to how our meal could have been missed, knowing from experience that if she had seen a table without mains for so long, she would have chased it up. There were at least three waiting on staff that walked passed us several times in the night, as well as the manager and how nobody noticed is beyond us. The idea of going out for a meal is to feel looked after and attended to - we did not get that. I hope this is a learning curve for the restaurant to improve their basic customer services for other future customers. Unfortunately, we won’t be among them.

First time ordered as it’s 10 min trip but started lovely then the main asked for chicken tikka madras and got chicken tikka masala gutted looked forward to it all week won’t be going back

Just had a lovely half chicken roast dinner.....came out promptly and was delicious.....just what was needed. Staff where friendly and lovely..... will be returning for more sunday dinners!!

Nicely decorated but over priced drinks and food is very basic, lived in billinge all my life and only been a few times would rather go eagle and child

We've just had a fabulous meal for Mother's Day .The menu was really good value and mums meal was free .The food was home cooked and lots of it .We all had different dishes and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal .We will definitely be back for more .You just need a bit more practice making cocktails.

We visited The Billinge Arms/Huntsman Restaurant on Saturday for a Queen tribute night and had previously paid for tickets. We booked our meal in the adjacent restaurant at 6pm in plenty of time for the 8pm start time for the act. There was only two other people in the restaurant when we arrived. We ordered tapas and waiting 1hr 40 mins for our food, we had informed the waitresss twice that we are booked in next door for the act. The food finally arrived and was really nice but we had to rush it. All the people from the bar side had been moved into the restaurant with their bar food and they had taken priority over the restaurant food orders. We went next door for the tribute act and thought we may miss the start, as it was gone 8pm. The act only came on at 9.45pm and was absolutely shocking, the worst singer I've ever heard, he was on for about 40 mins then karaoke resumed. A total embarrassment for any business. I have reviewed on the Billinge Arms Facebook page which was blocked and deleted. I feel they need to manage these tribute nights better. A total farce from start to finish.

Good variety of beers and lagers at a reasonable price. Plenty of spirits , gins and wines served by friendly staff

My sister and I went to the restaurant attached to the Billinge Arms pub for an evening meal. The whole experience was exceptionally good - the atmosphere, the food, the service. I hope it's as good the next time we go

We have used Hamadan many times but the standard varies every time. The staff are great and always friendly but the food is sometimes very disappointing. We had 3 meals last night and they just tasted of fast food. No real flavour and lacking in the rich taste of spices you’d expect from Indian food. The cost was £25 but we ended up throwing half the food away. We won’t be going back for quite a while.

Absolutely rude service will never use again. I nicely enquired y I had a service charge on my bill for only ordering £7 worth of food and I was ignored then spoken two very rude! At one point even thought chance of getting assaulted? Two lads in front of me said there experience was as bad? NEVER AGAIN

Absolutely filthy and disgusting, goodness knows how they have a hygiene rating of 5. Dusty counter when I went in, always a bad sign. Ordered tray of donner kebab meat and heard the microwave door slam shut and ping several minutes later. One of the toughest tasteless and greasy things I've ever had the displeasure of consuming (most of it went straight into the bin). It would have been easier to chew my way through a thousand used condoms, and would have probably tasted better too.
