Very disappointing Sunday Lunch. We were very surprised how quiet it was for a bank holiday weekend, that should have been a sign. I have eaten here previously a few years ago and it has gone downhill. The building is full of character but it's now very tired and grubby. The service was very quick and the staff were very friendly but the food was bland and tasteless. The mash was lumpy and for the price about £15 I expect better. It's a shame because it has such potential, great location and not many other options around.

What a hidden gem! For a first time visit we thoroughly enjoyed learning about the history of the place and sitting, on a lovely evening, at an outside table enjoying fish and chips. Exciting to hear about the future plans for the pub. Service excellent. Definitely going to go back....

Excellent pub/restaurant/brewery adjacent to a country park, the Hadrian's Wall trail, and river Tyne. Beers and food are both excellent, with friendly, helpful staff. Big outdoor drinking area too, which I have to say, needs cleaning up and refurbishment.

Stayed overnight in some low level annex. The evening meal, (nut roast) was superb. The vegan cooked breakfast in the morning was overcooked and quite frankly, disgusting. Limited choice of cereal, cardboard packed in cardboard boxes with Kellogg's on the packet. Waste of £12.

Have been to this place a few times when visiting friends, and family events, also stayed over in accommodation. My personal opinion is this place could be a little gold mine if the present owners were to spend some money in all area's, but they just seem to be running it into the ground, which is a shame.

Upon arrival, was greeted warmly and professionally and shown to a table. All further interactions with staff were very positive. Unfortunately, the food we ordered, (mince and dumplings and lasagne) were virtually inedible. Everything had been reheated, was dry and had little taste. We had an early morning flight just before Christmas, so we thought we would have a nice breakfast before the flight. I really don’t know how you can mess up a cooked breakfast!! We found a table, that had drink stains all over it I had to ask the lad to clean the table which he did with no urgency or elbow grease, I wanted to do it myself. The breakfast arrived the bacon was that cremated we had to pick it up to eat, I didn’t want to take someone’s eye out that brittle, the eggs were sunny side up and all runny round the yolk not cooked properly. The prices that you charge would have expected something a tad better. I was not impressed at all!! I have had a catering business for several years and I would never serve something I wouldn’t eat myself. If you would like me to come in and show how to cook for the great British public, just give me the nod and I would do it free of charge. The staff are very pleasant, the only good thing about the place

My son suggested this restaurant as we were out for his birthday so his choice. This is quite simply the best Indian restaurant that I've ever been to. The service was absolutely brilliant, the two lads working tonight were great and nothing was a bother they were so good with us. I had a chat with one about our watches and just complimenting each others watches as he was getting so ice for our table. I can't praise the two of them enough. My son and I shared a mixed kebab starter which was beautiful, we both enjoyed it. I had the lamb karie (I can't spell it) whilst my son and partner had the madras, we had keema pilou and two garlic and coriander Nanns. All of the meal was beautiful. My son and I finished the meal with Him having the chocolate cake with ice cream whilst I went for the sticky toffee pudding with ice cream, compliments to the chef for the whole meal and I couldn't fualt a single thing. The whole experience from start to finish was outstanding and I will definitely be back again. Big thank you to the two lads who served us tonight, I really can't praise yous enough. Well done and thank you for a brilliant night.
