Last night I collected a cod, mini fish and large chips from The Big Fryer. As always the customer service was excellent and the fish was cooked to order. We live a 12 minute drive away, so popped the fish and chips in the oven on a tray, just for a couple of minutes when we got home. The fish and chips were absolutely delicious. The batter was light and crisp and the fish firm and flaky. The chips were also extremely good. All in all - 100%! Thank you!

The best fish shop around these parts by a country mile. It's a lovely, friendly family business too so I don't know why there has been a bad review. It really is a lovely fishy.

Was a good chippy but gone downhill in the last year. Portion sizes are ridiculously small for what are you paying for. The chips were cold and tasted stale. The fish was horrible won’t be returning any time soon.

Fish and chip shop has for years operated a card or cash policy. Now however it’s cash only. A backward step in my opinion. I was told this by a grumpy member of staff serving, who had a rather abrupt and defensive attitude. Probably passed off having to announce this policy to customers. Cancelled my order, went to Brixworth Chippy, paid by card and £5.00 cheaper. I will not be going back to long buckby.

Great service and good menu choice. The fish and chips are just fab. The Kebabs are also fabulous. Parking is OK also.

I live in Northamptonshire and visit The Big Fryer in Long Buckby to enjoy the best fish & chips in the county when my daughter visits from London - she loves fish & chips. I book and prepay my order online via The Big Fryer Facebook page confirming our requirements (including salt & vinegar etc) and a pick up time. The quality is excellent together with the service. Why would you look anywhere else?!

Had cod yesterday. Fish really dry and batter hard. It was inedible. Chips were just ok. Very disappointing!!! Won’t be returning.

Best fish and chips we’ve had for ages! My husband and I both had cod (mine a small and hubby’s a regular) and they were both cooked to perfection, with huge flaky chunks of fish. The chips were excellent too! Staff always pleasant & friendly. Great value for money. We’ll be back for more!

Visited this chip shop a few times beforehand. They sell the standard things any chip shop does but the quality and service has gone down hill. It took ages for my order to be ready and even then it wasn't right. When I asked about it I got a barage of abuse from the staff telling me to be patient. That was my last visit to the place.

Myself and my husband had heard good things about Big Fryer so we thought we'd give it a try. We went on a Thursday evening and were given a warm and friendly welcome from the staff on walking in. There was plenty to choose from and all at a reasonable price. When we got our food home it was all delicious. We were sad when it was finished! So 10/10 Big Fryer! We'll be back again for certain.

Popped in on Thursday this week for a spur of the moment meal. Met with a warm welcome, shown to a table with drinks and food arriving swiftly. The food was delicious. Really well presented and incredibly tasty. The belly pork was tender, with beautiful crackling and a sumptuous sauce. The clam tine and gingerbread upside down cake was unreal. Could have eaten it again! AND……very reasonably priced. For a freezing cold night, we left warm and happy. Will definitely be back.

In my opinion my booked room as just a step above a Premier Inn and as certainly no more than average. Breakfast service was absolute chaos and so badly managed as to be both annoying and totally pathetic. The buffet managed at one point to run out of everything, hot food such as all variations of eggs (fried, scrambled boiled etc), bacon...non available unless you wanted to wait in a queue while it was cooking, hash browns.....same story. In all fairness, they did manage to find a few slightly warm sausages and a dish of soggy, slimy mushrooms and a dish of tinned tomatoes. At one point I counted at least 25 people waiting in line for more food to be brought out. The toaster.....just one!! attracted a queue of people trying to at least get toast made. The coffee machine were another story completely with lots of bad tempered guests waiting for ages before finally giving up and being told there was another machine in a lounge we could use. To sum up......Never again!!!!! a dreadful experience that was a waste of time and money. Roy Miller.
