Visited the big fish for dinner and had the best haddock and chips for a long time worth the wait. Can highly recommend.

Me and my husband travel 45 mins+ to go to this chippy best chips ever! Never had a bad meal here fish is cooked fresh to order the gravy is spot on, if you ask for batter scraps they will give you these free

I ordered Scampi, chips, curry sauce and steak pudding. All three were delicious. The lady that served us was friendly and helpful. Accessible with plenty of parking, will be coming back.

Twice ive been in recently and asked for, large fish and chips and have come home with a small portion despite having paid the premium. Either this is as a result of incompetent staff or a deliberate attempt to get away with this. Not impressed.

After moving house me and my husband decided to treat our selves to a chippy. A lovely girl served us, even though they were busy she made us feel welcomed even asked about our day, she has only been there a couple of weeks she told us. We got home and the fish and chips was perfect even our fussy teen asked for some and loved them. Shall be returning very soon!!

Very pleased with the food we order online and we earn points worth claiming. We have used this place for so many years. Every order is packed well and freshly cooked. The order is ready for collection at the designated time. Have no need to queue outside in the cold and rain. Parking is easy too. Servers are very friendly, one of the girls even know my name so when she sees me, she calls me straight away to collect my order, always service with a smile.

Lovely fish and chips but shame about the poor customer service. Firstly, they don't clearly advertise how much fish and chips actually costs and when I asked them the staff said they'd have to put it through the till to find out. Secondly, I felt awkward waiting for my order as all I could hear was the owner/manager telling off the employee (a young lady who seemed on the verge of tears) for practically every thing she was doing. Finally, after a 10 minute wait for our order, another lady just gave me the order without so much as a smile or 'enjoy your meal' which is the least you'd accept when you're spending that much on fish and chips!

Lovely welcome, staff so polite (all customer service should be like this!) and most importantly delicious fish & chips - proper chips, flaky fish and crunchy batter. Highly recommended without doubt!

Having used the big fish for many years whilst Alex was the manager we have continued to use it now it’s being run by different staff. Unfortunately I doubt very much if we’ll go again. Last night my adult son had a chip barm, he said chips were awful and he said it was a one star meal. Today I bought mini fish and chips which I shared with my husband. There was GRIT on the chips which we both bit into, seriously not impressed.

With national fish and chip day on the 4th of June our office decided they wanted to treat the staff to fish and chips the day before. The staff at Big Fish and Adele in particular couldn't have been more helpful if they wanted to be. They facilitated an order for 45 members of staff with everything turning up piping hot and exactly what we ordered. There was no sacrifice of quality with such a big order and it was genuinely one of the best fish and chips I have ever had. Would recommend to anyone after my experience.

Ordered 2 portions of fish & chips only to arrive home and find a fish missing from the order. Made 75 phone calls and not able to get an answer (staff answering phone whilst I was there ?) Chips had a horrible taste so not even able to eat what we had received. No response to email sent asking for a refund for the expensive missing fish. Should have gone to Church Road Chippy, Northenden, a much better fish & chip shop and you get what you have ordered.

I've always wanted to try The Big Fish because of it's good reputation. We arrived around 5:30PM on Friday and after a short wait were able to place our order. You then join a separate queue whilst your food is being prepared. In total the wait took around 30 minutes! Food - good portion sizes, lovely crispy batter on the cod, fresh homemade chips and tasty mushy peas. The fish & chips were reasonably priced and staff adhered to all covid safety regulations whilst maintaining good customer service.Was it worth the wait? Yes, it was!

Oh a joy to behold!! Absolutely gorgeous authentic fish and chips!!! We have googled and googled to try and find a decent fish and chip shop near to us in Manchester!! At last I need try no more I have found it!! Fish light crispy fresh batter!!! On my fish just how it should be and as for the chips!! Well only one word perfect!!

Took my dad as a treat and totally loved it. Fish was fresh and tasty with chips to match. They’ve done a great job of screening the counter and a practical pick up system. Really pleased to see people support local business who go the extra mile for their customers. Well done Big Fish!

Had fish and chips last night from our favourite fish and chip shop but got to say it was not up to its usual standard.Lots of fatty batter on a thin piece of fish and two thirds of the chips were end bits, the rest of the chips were tasteless.Will be a while before I go back. Don’t know what’s happened but definitely not up to usual quality.

Waited out side Went in as no one inside. Got told to go back out side. Ad I waited another customer went in with out the GO AHEAD. served straight away. Waited to be called in. Asked if I want salt n vinegar. I replied yes lots of Please. Got the order... oh my. Tasteless chips. Not a sprinkle of salt was evident. My opinion. Wont be going again.

Just reopened due to lockdown. All safety measures in place, step inside (if empty) place order, wait back outside and they call you in to collect and pay. Staff very friendly and helpful. Fish, chips and curry sauce delicious.

Having all been out for the day,we decided to have a takeaway for tea.The service was quick, after a short wait, I took home the tea.The batter on the fish was so good, not at all greasy and soggy, but crisp and light. There was a good helping of chips which were very tasty.So if one night, or lunchtime you you feel like a visit to the Chippy,then I'd go to the Big Fish.

I’ve been here twice now and have really enjoyed both meals. The fish is super fresh and the menu is interesting including old favourites and something for those who don’t like fish. The staff are really friendly and knowledgeable. Great little wine list. I’ll definitely be back

I like The Big Fish. The staff are always pleasant. For take away, I prefer sausage and chips which are always good. I am less keen on fish as I find that the batter is well cooked but the inside is watery(it may well be cooked but I dislike the liquid). I like moist but not wet!

What a lovely Fish and Chip shop. The food here at The Big Fish was absolutely wonderful, from preparation to presentation, very pleasing. The staff are so warm, friendly and inviting. There was a group of eight and we all tried the different dishes this place does. We especially enjoyed the light battered fish amongst other dishes we tried. Each and every dish we all tried were delicious. Most of us have a local chippy within a short walk or drive of our house but, why not push the boat out and try one of the best in Wilmslow. The highest rated fish and chip shop! We were all on a weekend away trip from London and we cannot wait to visit again. Highly recommend.

Wow! We are very fussy fish and chip eaters, in-fact we've probably tried most in Cheshire and some further afield. Little did we know that only 15 minutes down the road was the best fish and chip shop in the North West. The Big Fish may be rather small in size, but it certainly has personality, with its lovely and friendly staff, some dinky tables if you fancy eating in and fast service, oh, and blooming incredible fish and chips. We had 2 regular chips and shared a fish, which was more than enough, and the fish was easily the best we've had since we went to the equally fabulous Walkers in East Ayton, Scarborough. Seriously, if you want some proper good fish and chips, with batter bits, gravy, curry sauce, mushy peas, whatever you want, The Big Fish is THE place to be. Would recommend to anyone and everyone. Thanks for a great meal, you guys, we'll be back.

Came in Monday night greeted with a big smile by a stunning young tan girl (my son wants her number by the way?) . Food was as expected the lovely British fish and chips. Will be returning excellent value for money!! Friendly staff and very welcoming!

I came in last Saturday and was greeted by two young friendly girls who service matched their quality of food! The two young girls were very welcoming alongside their mannerism which was very pleasant!! They made my service and I will deffo be returning because of them :)

This chippy had the best halibut I have had, served by this tall suited and booted mannequin looking guy called tarquin. He responded to my needs. Chips were so tasty .spicy curry excellent and served by s stylish guy. Great job.

Canadian couple, travelling through to Manchester airport. First ever fish and chip experience and it was made nicer mainly down to this waiter called Tarquin, he took our order dressed in a suit which in my home town is never likely, gleaming white teeth and would not have looked out of place in a movie.

We were recommended to try this by one of their long-term customers who eats there weekly. Excellent cheerful service. Freshly cooked, large fish. Spotlessly clean. They also have seating if you wish to eat in. Will now use this as our first choice even though we have to drive a couple of miles to get there and pass a number of their competitors on the way. We will now recommend them to all our friends. Suitable for a pesco-vegetarian, I think.

The Big Fish is a very good chip shop, the place is usually very busy which in my book is a good sign, the food is alway of a good standard and freshly cooked. The place is clean and has a small indoor eating area.

Lovely little place with great tasting food. Particularly loved our heart shaped halibut! They also have a good kids special which includes a drink and toy.

The fish was just mush and tasteless. It had been overcooked. Went on a busy Friday evening. Had great fish in August here on a Wednesday evening. Fish is not consistent. Shame as service is good. Won't be in a hurry to return...

A recent lunchtime visit was spoilt by just how unpleasant the staff were when serving me.In particular a young red headed man who didn't seem to want to be there and who's appearance and cleanliness was of concern.

Superb food, fish and chips cooked as they should be, fresh light and just glorious and tasty. Clean and well presented premises, inside and outside,what a great find this place is. Staff helpful and polite. . I HIGHLY recommend THE BIG FISH.

Visited the restaurant to treat my friend visiting from Norway. He eats fresh Norwegian fish daily. He totally loved this. Big haddock, perfectly cooked, with amazing chips and tasty peas. Love this place, it's consistently fresh, with great food. Well done. Good fish and chips is hard to find.

Used to be one of the best Chippies in the area but hoping down hill fast in the last year or so, I'm told due to the original owner not running it any more. You always have to wait way too long to get served then when you do the fish is now watery and bland !!! Avoid !!

Excellent fish, as white as can be, in a very crisp gluten free batter . Such an immaculately clean and well decorated cafe . We sat in and had very friendly and prompt service . It was very good value .Thank you .

The Big Fish provides what every is missing, a chance to sit and eat in. We live in Macclesfield but we travel to Wilmslow because the chippy is that good. Well worth trying whether you're taking away or taking the time to sit in.

Two friends and I arranged to meet at The Big Fish last week. We had such a lovely time. It is spotlessly clean and the the fish and chips were delicious. we ate in and ended up staying about two hours enjoying our meals and two pots of tea. the couple on the next table had taken wine with them. What a great idea. The young people who were working there were extremely polite and helpful to everyone who came in and made my friends and I feel very welcome. They are a credit to the establishment. Six of us are going this week as we enjoyed it so much.

Reliably good cod and chips from the takeaway here. I like the scampi too. Can't comment further....

Always go to a busy chippy, this is a case in point. Great chips, peas, curry. The fish is also great and unlike other chippys in the area, they cook the fish in advance! None of this cook to order rubbish you get at other places. The fish tastes great too, the servers are fast, and the staff friendly. Recommended.

Eaten here many times. Always busy so the food is fresh and crispy and the cod always snow white worth the wait on Fridays when they are busy. they now do gluten free Monday which is a bonus for my daughter

This place is a few minutes drive from where we live, and always my first choice for chips! It's nearly always busy with a queue out the door - which is testament to how good it is.

I have eaten Fish N Chips all over this country and I have to say this is the best I have ever had, the fish was so tasty. Its great to go back after a while and be instantly recognised. Two magnificent haddock with skin off and a standard portion of chips provided a feast for two.Brilliantly cooked with crisp batter and a slice of lemon. Consistently excellent.

This is our local chippy, and it never disappoints. Food is cooked fresh - meaning you sometimes have to wait - but it's worth it. The batter on the fish is light, crispy and non greasy, the fish itself soft and tasty. Chip portions are huge, we order 1 normal between 2 and there are often still some left over. Eating in option is available and you can even 'bring your own'. Well worth a try.

My first visit to the big fish today well worth the trip from Alderley edge, the fish was beautifully cooked and the chips were really fluffy and were not greasy in the slightest. surroundings were clean and service was excellent very warm and welcoming staff will be returning again very soon.

The quality is great, but not an extensive menu. Portions are generous, and you can sit in and dine. Summertime sees people sitting on the tables outside, dining 'al fresco'. Big ques at tea time, be warned.

this is our local chippy and we use it a lot and have done for years, as far as chippies go I would consider it at the top end of the price range, everything they sell is really nice and the chippy has won many awards over the years, alex the proprieter is a top fella. my only criticism is that the part of the range that hold the chips is too small, so there is nearly always a waiting time for chips, chips taste the best if they have had time to rest after frying, sometimes of there is a queue it feels like the chips have not had enough time to cook, however 9/10 times they are spot on.

Not the nineteenth century Latin master, Mr Chipping of Brookfields but Alex, Eren and Jake of Summerfields! Been regulars here for fifteen months, pretty much every week. I make that about 65 portions of haddock, chips and mushy peas scoffed to date. And we've enjoyed every last mouthful.Impossible to find fault with this local chippy. Complimentary MEN and Metro now offered which is an added bonus, especially as there's usually a queue.Keep it up guys!

Excellent service, excellent food, excellent value for money, the only place I will eat fish seriously the best fish in the north west. Would recommend this to everyone. Keep up the good work guys.
