Nice traditional village local with friendly helpful staff and a real fire. Just what you need on a wet autumn day. I had a great roast pork dinner and it was great value at £11.95. Perfect crackling and also came with yummy apple sauce. Doesn’t come much better than this! Good choice of puddings. Nice to see Bakewell tart and bread and butter pudding alongside the more usual sticky toffee.

Lovely village pub selling some great home cooked food. I went for the steak and ale pie which was very tasty. There is a good choice of food on the menu and desserts too. Atmosphere was good and staff were friendly. I am returning again this weekend!

Lovely traditional cosy pub , great food, really good value! The service was exemplary considering just one young girl was doing everything! We are regulars at eating out and are so pleased to have had a great experience here as this will now be a favourite "local" to pop in for lunch or dinner. Menu is great, I really struggled to choose ! So many things I want to try ! Well done to all the staff and management at The Bell !

Only a five minute drive from where we were staying on holiday at Haveringland Hall. Considered ourselves very fortunate to have this gem of a pub restaurant nearby. The Bell is a typical old fashioned village pub and we ate here most nights during our week stay because the food is good and there is a large and varied menu. We tried the special board prawn curry, fish and chips, Cromer crab salad all were very tasty and generous portion size. The mega chocolate indulgence ice cream sundae was superb. All the staff were friendly and efficient. COVID regs were adhered to and we felt relaxed and safe. Well done THE BELL!!

We visited the Bel at Cawston on the 12th July 2021 for a Sunday lunch and as the title says it was the worst Sunday lunch meal we have EVER had. We arrived in good time for our booked table and the staff were great very friendly we chose a table in the garden, however the time it took to get our order in was quite long and when the Beef roasts arrived they were at best only just warm, my wife's meat was mostly fat and gristle the veg on both plates was raw and cold and the gravy was water thin barely brown. We have been in the hospitality trade and know how hard it is to produce good meals. We did not complain at the time but called in again to tell them about the meal, the outcome was not what we were expecting as we had been (before lock down ) regular customers eating there every Sunday evening for around 7 years. It is with a heavy hart that I am posting this on trip adviser it is not something that I would normally do.

We took our friends out for an evening meal to say thank for letting us stay at their house. They recommended the pub. We ordered and sat in the garden which looked like a walled garden with its brick walls on one side. We were advised there were large parties of people so there would be a wait for our food. We thanked the staff for letting know. The food arrived after what seemed an average wait hot and fresh, substantial size delivered by smiling staff. They were large portions with homemade salads and dressings accompanying.

Was staying locally to Cawston and was recommended this pub for its fresh food. Pubs as they used to be ....for families, company and good food and drink. The footy was on at the time and the villagers and incomers were together cheering England on. Food dispensed hot and tastily cooked not faffy and fiddled with. Lots of gravy and good company. Bravo to the couple that have taken this pub on!

We thought we’d try a bit inland from the Norfolk coast and were very pleased, the pub itself was a typical village pub, not over done up in gastro fashion. My friend always likes steak which was not on that evenings menu but whilst waiting to be served the chef came out the kitchen carrying a huge plate with steak and all the works ! my friend asked if steak was available and she said it was and did he want serloin or rump, the rest of us had cottage pie, beef suet pudding and chicken masala all very nice and large portions. The desserts we had were sundaes, cheesecake, all large portions and tasty. All in all a very nice evening the lady behind the bar and the chef were great and told us about the history of the pub.

If you are going to visit make sure they are open first, we went on Friday at 14:30 and they were closed, luckily the bus was passing so we got on it and went to Aylsham. Their website and TripAdvisor both have different times and both are wrong.

Lovely place. Staff obliging and bar loo-cals friendly enough. Good home-cooked food as a welcome change from the ubiquitous ‘gastro’ and expensive eating around here. Quiches were clearly home made and battered cod was fresh - not freezer food in other words. We had a bit of a food order ‘mix up’ but apologies were genuine so we left very happy. Fabulous beer garden with view of the church tower and swifts wheeling all around in the warm evening sky. As a local from Briston, meaning to call in for some time, it was a pleasant discovery. Will return for more of the well-kept East Anglian beers (Wherry superb) and that lovely garden before this long summer is out. With no hitches next time, it’ll be five stars. Thanks guys!

In a group of seven of us, we all enjoyed our meals along with desserts. You could tell the burgers were made of a quality mince (apparently from a local butcher), good gammon, filling giant yorkshire pud and even though the chips are oven cooked, they were still fairly tasty.

Always a great choice of home made food, traditional dishes, always roasts on the menu, one of my favourite is the quirky cheese and potato pie. Always fresh vegetables and the best salads in Norfolk. Lovely beer garden at rear, parking opposite pub. This is not a gastropub, but a good honest down to earth country pub full of character with an emphasis on friendliness and wholesome food.
