The Bell Inn in Mid Suffolk

Excellent food and very friendly service - we shall certainly visit again in the near future. The whole atmosphere was cosy and comfortable.

Went to the bell for a breakfast with my wife not for the first time .I moved to botesdale 6 years ago and first went to the bell for Sunday lunch it was superb. Then the chef left and the food quality dropped significantly and I didn't go again for a while .I then heard a new chef was appointed and we went to try again and what a difference and keep going back .the staff are so friendly and helpful. I would like to thank bonnie and Joe for their service on Saturday. Recommend to every try the bell at rickinghall.

Highly recommend!! Feel so lucky to have moved to Rickinghall & on moving day waiting for my keys myself & my dogs were made to feel more than welcome by not just the staff but other regular customers. We also got to enjoy a better than expected breakfast & treats for my girls so much so that we’ve only been here for a few weeks but made more visits to enjoy more breakfasts, dinners, Sunday lunch & a few drinks. Not only is The Bell a beautiful pub, they offer excellent food, excellent drinks, welcome dogs with open arms & always make you feel extremely welcome. Thank you to everyone at The Bell we look forward to enjoying many more visits😍

Enjoyed nice meal, fair value, not cheapest but ok. Chips with meal were lovely but I felt a bit short changed. Thick cut potatoes, triple dipped tasted lovely but artfully presented handful, maybe 8-9 bigger chips only. I did ask for more and this was fine, I wasn’t charged more. I took my mum for a Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea. We were welcomed by the friendly staff and served a delightful selection of sandwiches, homemade scones, sausage rolls, cakes and a large pot of tea. We were given a potted plant as a Mother’s Day gift such a kind gesture. A cosy and relaxing atmosphere. Thanks to Jordan and her great team 🌟

We had an excellent Sunday roast, with fresh, tasty, seasonal vegetables. The beef was tender and tasty, likewise the pork. Fish and chips was fresh and beautifully cooked. The optional extra of cauliflower cheese was deliciously cheesy. We followed up with very fine ice creams, as sadly we couldn’t fit in one of the very tempting puds. We will return.

Everyone was so lovely and accommodating! We arrived just before the kitchen closed and they made sure we got our order in on time. It’s dog friendly which is always amazing and they gave us a small handful of treats for our pup when we arrived which was a lovely touch. Everything was clean and the food was so good!! I have reviewed the food here previously as we regularly eat here, but wanted to acknowledge the lovely service on a busy NYE when our table of six was moved from one area to another at our request, despite this meaning the staff had to re-jig tables for some later diners. It was so appreciated, lovely service. The food was fab too, all six of us really happy with the food and service. Thanks for being so accommodating 🙂

Just stayed for two nights at this beautiful well kept modern country pub my room was very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful from my arrival to my departure, breakfast was top quality and prepared / cooked with pride. I would definitely recommend the bell inn 10/10 excellent

The Sunday roast was fantastic. I especially liked the red cabbage. Our party had 2 adults and 2 children and everyone finished the meals. The service was very prompt and friendly. The atmosphere was charming as it’s definitely a well liked village pub. Will definitely come again.

We eat here quite frequently and it’s consistently lovely! Had the ham hock terrine and partner had the pie of the day (venison) and both were delicious… always busy on. Saturday lunchtime but service is great thanks Freddie! Highly recommended

Perfect overnight stay in comfortable bed, cosy room, great bar and THE most delicious dinner and breakfast. Very friendly and efficient. Second time we’ve stayed and fully recommend. The locals must agree as breakfast is served on Saturdays and Sundays and was really popular!

Phoned on the off chance of a table for Sunday lunch and managed to get one for a two hour window which was great. We opted for olives which are marinated so very tasty, not just served in brine! We both had the roast beef which was really nice and I thought the wines were very reasonably priced too. Friendly staff, thanks for fitting us in!

Lovely pub with a good atmosphere. The food was delicious, but one member of our group felt that the smoked trout starter was a very small portion. The ham hock terrine was excellent. The steak was delicious and good value if you like a flat iron type, which is more firm than a rump or sirloin. Sea bream was also very good Service was excellent with a very knowledgeable waitress.

We are a mixed bunch of mates who drink in our local village pub, which is great. We like to occasionally go out for Sunday lunch as a group, to celebrate as in this case a bunch of Scorpio birthdays. Individually we have eaten here on various occasions, mainly lunch times, but never a Sunday roast. Well we put it right today. Wow what a lunch , 9 of us had beef , 2 had pork. The beef was stunning, I am in love with your butcher, chef cooked it beautifully, nice bit of pinky , tender, melt in the mouth de bloody licious, I gather the pork was pretty stunning too. Roast potatoes,cracking, cauli cheese, yummy, beetroot, vastly underated as a veg, red cabbage to die for, roasted carrots sweet as honey, Yorkshire puddings yummy yummmy,. Plenty of everything cooked beautifully. Deserts all lovely, I was expecting the sticky ginger pudding to be hot, and slightly disappointed there was no custard, good laugh with Jordan over that, but you've gotta try. Service was second to none, we were superbly looked after on our arrival at the bar by a very warm welcome, unfortunately I didn't get the name of the young lady who served us. Jordan,Bonnie, and I think Benu, writing on the card was difficult to read, waited on us hand and foot at the table, and nothing , but nothing was too much trouble for them. We have eaten in lots of establishments over the years and Rickinghall Bell is very high on the quality list, we will be visiting you again, I have no problem in highly recommending you to everyone looking for a grand place to get together and enjoy a real proper Sunday lunch.
