nice place to drink and eat but does not give you breakfast lunch deals like all the other costas ( at the moment as they say they are working on it)

We're visiting from America and stayed in the thatched cottage next to the White Lion. Cindy and Neil were the best neighbors we could hope for. They've been kind and hospitable. Every evening, they light a cozy fire in the fireplace and turn on some relaxing tunes. It seems as though the White Lion is an important gathering place for the village. The patrons seemed to all be like happy family members, but were also very welcoming to outside guests. We enjoyed their chili on rice, nachos and a classic smash burger. They had quite a few other options on the menu as well, ranging from fish & chips to a variety of pizzas. They also had a kid's menu. Of course, they had a broad selection of beers and ales (and soft drinks for tee-totalers like us). It was just a great place all round to spend a few hours and relax.

I have been a regular customer at this restaurant for a long time, but after my experience on Valentine’s Day, I will NEVER be coming back. I ordered a special meal for my wife and me, expecting the same quality I’ve always received. Instead, the sea bass was completely burnt—charred and inedible. It wasn’t just a little overcooked; it was BLACK. I called the restaurant to address the issue, thinking they would at least try to fix it. Instead, a rude young lady answered and basically told me there was nothing she could do. No apology, no offer to replace the meal—just complete indifference. When I told her that this level of service could lead to a bad review, she dismissively told me to “do what I want” and then hung up on me! The worst part? I’ve been a loyal customer here, and THIS is how they treat people. If this is how they handle complaints, I can only imagine how they treat other customers who have issues. Absolutely disgraceful service and ruined what was supposed to be a special evening. Avoid this place unless you want to be treated like your business doesn’t matter.
