The Bell in Walsall

Been to bell many times always been great food . I ordered the gammon it was very fatty not the best chips were not great soggy The best thing on meal was the peas and fresh large slice of pineapple .my husband had the same and he said his gammon was very chewy. The price of drinks is very expensive .the atmosphere in pub is warm and friendly staff polite. We will visit again as this was the first time food was not enjoyable .

Love coming here, great team with always a welcome smile. Been coming here for over 15 years and still come back. Aiden is exceptional in his service, my pint is always ready when I walk in.

We were shown to our table immediately and the staff were really friendly. It was really busy but the staff coped well. The food was excellent as it always is. My friends and I visit the Bell regulary for the good food, which is brilliant value for money.

Went online to book a table at the Bell last week only upto 8pm available, wanted 8.30. Tried to phone a few times no answer. However online it states don't worry if the time slot you want is not available, we make availability for walk ins and having ate on plenty occasions much later than 8, did not think there would be an issue. I did book a table for 8, but knew I would arrive a little after that. Turned up at 8.20pm to be told no food after 8pm. "We always finish serving food early in January". Like we should have known that. Explained nothing online saying that, shrug of shoulders. Explained I had phoned venue, but no answer "The phone hasn't rang all day" making me out to be a liar. No apology of any sort. Staff could not have been more unsympathetic. We left. I followed this up with a complaint online. The reply, 'We will inform our IT department". If you are going to close the kitchen earlier than normal, please make it clear online. Amend your opening hours to show not only the times you close, but when you stop serving food. Remove misleading informationon stating walk ins are catered for if your required booking times are not available online. Don't assume your customers will just know that you close kitchens early at certain times of the year. Answer your phone and if it doesn't ring all day for a busy establishment I would hazard a guess you might have a problem with your phone line (or someone unplugs it so that don't have to answer it). Most of all, show a degree of sympathy towards your customer and hold your hand up and admit that maybe we didn't get it quite right on this occasion. Additional comment following reply ................ I am happy to give an honest review, I am unsure if your reply is in anyway an offer of compensation, you don't really make this clear?

I'm not over keen on pubs where you have to put your car registration in, easy to forget when trying to get served at the bar, honest opinion not enough staff on! ! Limited hand pulled beer, more coming soon labels on most handles. Long wait for our food, we were about 30 minutes but two other tables next to us at waited an hour and a quarter. We had two pies for our order, had to be sent back because the pies were cold in the middle. No more pies so we had lasagna, Morris was very good in dealing with us and one of the other tables, I'm not sure how the second table near us go on, I don't think they'd complained to the staff. It is a nice pub and I think the staff tried their best, there was a bit of a white at the bar, and that's where you are what table you are on, took a while to sort out as the laptop had gone walkabout. Are table, number 41 didn't have a number on it so with difficult to find, it also only had one chair for a booking of two.

I really enjoyed my first time at The Bell for a pre Christmas lunch. Although it was a busy afternoon, the food was lovely and service efficient. Clean and welcoming with friendly staff. I would recommend.

I had pre booked a table and we arrived on time and the table was readily available. After initially ordering drinks at the bar, we browsed the menu and the ordered the meals. As at that time it was not overly busy, the food arrived in a acceptable time. The food was prepared to order and was enjoyable.

Food awful and totally got drink order wrong. Sadly, the customer service at the bar was very disappointing. My partner found that staff were not very engaging and quite rude at times. It was almost like it was an effort to take our order for food... not interested and blazy towards him. Although it was busy last night, I know that good customer service is vital in this industry to get people to return time and time again. It's only a shame that this wasn't displayed last night. I used to enjoy coming here but alas we will not return has gone down hill rapidly.

We arrived at 8pm then sat down, ordered our meal then we waited about 45 minutes for starter then waited again for mains, this I think was due to promotion, however, they had ran out of most of the meat dishes especially the steak, so had to have something what we didn't really want, overall not bad , also internet is apauliing

New years eve and booked in for food . Gets there only to be told there isnt any food being served. What a mess about. So ,we're we supposed to get food now. What plonkers. Won't be going there again.

Rainbow Lasagna and Grilled Seabass Fillets. My friend and and I had these for a change and we both enjoyed our choices. Me meet up here fairly often for drink and a catch-up. Staff are friendly service good. Never had a bad meal. They did run out of Pink Gin! Over Christmas 🤦‍♀️

Excellent service as usual. Our server, Alex, was very pleasant and helpful. The food was fantastic and the atmosphere around the fire is always very homely.

Staff and food were great and definitely telling everyone how good the food, staff, service, surroundings are.

Poor service overall which was disappointing. Table booked for 5pm on arrival, left stood waiting, no one came over to seat us. In the end I asked someone at the bar who proceeded to point to our table. Left sat at the table, eventually realised we needed to order online went to order to discover all the Sunday dinners were completely sold out and no one had mentioned this, we would have left and gone elsewhere if we knew the menu was so limited. Drinks arrived quickly, but glasses and starter plates not cleared unless you happened to catch someone and ask. Glasses not very clean either. Fair wait on the mains as no one had told them we had finished our starters. Food was rather disappointing to be honest. Fries just about cooked, burger and fries literally just that. Mixed grill - very small not great quality. Low quality steak. Overall very poor experience.

Went to the Bell on 12th December with friends to celebrate our friends birthday hadn't been for over a year wasn't disappointed at all couldn't find fault with anything We ordered from the festive menu Food came in good time was well presented and piping hot . They allowed time between each course so didn't feel rushed and we were asked if each course was satisfactory. Staff were very attentive.

Main course was very good, piping hot and well cooked. Desert was a let down, Christmas pudding and brandy butter served stone cold, not pleasant. Staff didn't seem interested when it was mentioned.

I was very impressed with the refurbishment it looks a lot better only thing is the price of the drinks are a bit expensive now

I visited the bell pub on tuesday fpr a Christmas meal with friends. Absolutely fantastic service, the staff couldnt do enough for you. I had three courses and it was so tasty and well presented. Spoke to a young gentleman called Maurice such a lovely friendly person. He checked our food was ok . Overall a great experience.

Great pub with a lovely atmosphere. Food was good, 3 courses £11.99. There was quite a wait between courses. But it was Christmas between midday and 3pm and rather busy.

Had a lovely Christmas meal last evening with a large group of friends. The food was hot cooked well and portion sizes were spot on, all on the meals came out virtually together. The Bell has a Lovely warm atmosphere, staff are all friendly & polite. Thanks to you all making our evening special.

The Bell can be something of a pot luck venue. We've had great evenings with good ale and good food while other times it's been really disappointing. I'd like to give more stars particularly as it's our local, but if the staff could be more consistent they could get them.

The good bits Nice venue, pleasant atmosphere Mother’s posh fish n chips was nice as was her pudding sticky toffee. That’s where it ends Beware the deep fried mushrooms when you bite into them you get an unpleasant scalding hot oil spurt out at you. Roast beef whilst tender very little of. Lasagna reheated with a very basic salad. Fried onions rings drenched in old greasy oil disgusting. Been a fair few times over the years, however even though we were refunded one of the meals we will not be returning

What a great reception from Adam, George and the staff here at The Bell today... Me and the wife came for dinner with friends who live nearby as this place comes highly recommended. It's clear from the quality and presentation why this place has such a good reputation...😋😋 As we were the first ones in food came out really quickly as well. Photos show this fantastic venue is exceptionally clean and well presented. This pub is surely the benchmark of how a pub should be experienced. Very welcoming staff, great food, fantastic decor and warm comfortable surroundings. Ember inns should be very proud of the staff and management here... We had a great time and will surely be back again. Great job today guys... (D)😎

Car park sends you a £100 fine if you don't put your registration into a tablet inside the pub. Staff don't even mention it so if you don't see it you get a fine. Terrible service

Food was good, had to wait quite a while although the place was not very busy. Young man waiting on meals very polite, staff not enough of them all very busy not having time to make a customer feel valued. Friendliness has declined.

It was std pub grub, no soup??? But the two young male staff were helpful and polite, but the pub was empty and totally lacking in atmosphere

The food was good and the staff was friendly and is a nice place inside. But they send me a 60 pound for parking there. And I had to appeal it but you should not have to pay for parking to go out.

Great pub. Friendly bar staff, a good selection of ales and tasty food. My go-to place for a pint after work or for a meal when I don't feel like cooking.

Terrible, food took over an hour and came out cold. Not told a wait on food, others food came after ours and we ordered first. Will not return and wont be recommending.

Can I get a managers name and contact number please. My daughter came to the pub for the first time in June this year and has now received a £170 parking fine. This was the first time out in month after an illness, not a great experience.

Food was really nice. Staff were pleasant.

I had a mixed grill, i was not pleased. The meat was really cheap, chicken tasted synthetic my son loves chicken and he didnt eat much said it tastes weird, all i can say is my dog had a better feast then we did other then meat it was ok, we had christmas dinner here 4 years ago that was nice as i remember great place great staff nice desert really recommend a new food supplier or fresh meat to make the place great for food Service great. Wont eat here again though sorry.

Great food, good service, good atmosphere, good parking, toilets 🚻 are upstairs but there is a disabled ♿ toilet downstairs, could do with providing a written gluten free menu, overall good pub lunch

Worst drinks menu I've come across for a while. The red wines were not to my taste; the menu does not advise if any are vegan and the staff were none the wiser. The service was average, there was one half decent lager, spirits did not look inviting and the cocktail menu lacked anything that was not laden with fruit juices etc. The toilets were clean although the toilet roll was just that, not on/in any holder.

We had a lovely evening at The Bell tonight, we ordered calamari to start, ‘the posh fish and chips’ and the ‘cheese and bacon burger’ for our mains. The food was amazing and so was the service. Our server Jake was really attentive and helpful, he offered us additional sauces and asked if we needed more drinks, he made our night! Thank you! 😊

The Bell has a brilliant cheap and cheerful menu standards are above traditional pub chain food. Layout is really good, it doesn't feel like everyone is on top of you. We did have to wait an hour after our mains for dessert but we didn't mind, the wingman IPA was going down well. Thank you to the blonde bar lady from evening time yesterday, exceptionally helpful, and seemed to do everything with a bit of love and passion from what I noticed 🙂

A little noisy today but the fact they were busy didn't impact on the service. Food truly excellent.

The food was nice, they specifically made a lunch for my daughter. The service was OK. The music was far too loud for a Sunday lunch, and the tables were dirty. Besides those points it was a good experience. We particularly liked the carpark. The bell was dog friendly. However, on the negative side, the celling had a few stains throughout the pub. Overall a nice welcoming pub 4/5.

Was a wonderful morning to spend and have lovely meal on my birthday 🎂. Music in background was a treat. Has I haven't been able to go out for a meal like this for ages my health is limiting me at times.

Had a lasagne there a few days ago. Tasted fine bit the top part it was stone cold. The place is nice and the staff are friendly.

Visited 28.08.2024. Food was good as always. We visit quite often although it is a car journey away. Wish we had a pub like this as our local. Staff always helpful and pleasant.

I would give a 0 if i could, went in there for one drink lasting 20 minutes cost me £100 fine. I didn’t see you had to pay to park for a drink - and the staff didn’t say anything. What a joke! No wonder the place was dead

Aiden is fabulous. He always ensures that when we come his service is 10/10. He deserves a promotion!!!

Food and atmosphere was good. Service was poor. Double booked the table and we got moved after we had ordered food. Then tried to our food to people who were sat at our original. Charged us for both ours and other customers sat at the original table and served dessert without a spoon. No apology was given.

My dad visited from Australia, so we all booked here for lunch. It was really nice. The staff were lovely. We were all actually made to feel welcome. I would definitely book here again to see if the service given is standard... I'm not sure how much was spent as Dad settled the bill... but as usually he always likes to tip its standard for him,and I am not sure which member(s) of staff got a tipped but they must have impressed him. We all had varied food choices.

Today I thought I would treat myself and my dogs, so decided to walk to the 1 3/4 miles to the Longhorn when I got there I was told there was a 2 hour wait on food so decided to walk as fast as I could to walk back to the Bell Inn I a hope I would be there in time for some dinner. I got to the Bell to find I was in time. (phew) I was served by Adien and Rhi at the bar who were really friendly and professional. They also gave my 2 boys (dogs) a bowl of water. I ordered my meal at the same time. I sat down and a few minutes later my meal was brought out by Rosie who was really nice and friendly. My dinner was really nice, I had the Tandoori chicken skewers which was cooked to perfection by Max. Love that I can take my boys (doggies) Staff are fab Thanks for a nice evening 😊

Absolutely loved my vegan tomato and roasted pepper soup! Also the vegan iced latte with vanilla was quite yummy. I didn't quite like the vegan wellington but that was more of my own preference than anything on their end. Staff was friendly and attentive. Just thought their music was a little to loud for a lunch but I am autistic.

Waited 90mins for food, told several times food was on its way but it never came! Cancelled order in the end, other dinners cancelling had been waiting for over 2hours. It was utter chaos!!!
