Ocean Fish Bar in Walsall

My wife and I are not regulars of the Ocean Fish Bar, but following a pleasant experience on an autumnal Saturday evening we might now be. I was undecided regarding what I wanted and had to phone my wife to check her specific preferences from the impressive menu selection too! On this visit I was served by Alice who was extremely patient and very helpful in assisting me with my culinary choices. Thank you Alice.

It's a very nice little place, I've only given it 4 stars as I have a favorite chippy.

Fish and chips were very hot very good

Popped into here as staying in the area for an easy dinner. Food was not good and unfortunatley left us feeling unwell.

Lunchtime call in at 13.30 and as soon as I walked in I got told there's not much left I presumed this is due to It closing at 14.00. Tbf the counter looked still quite full so why my greeting like that? And if I wanted a ie.. battered sausage I could wait 5 mins. That put me off straight away so had a cone of chips (£2.70). They were really dry and luke warm. I also asked for a small amount of salt too but I got half a salt mine. The lady Staff member should smile more and greet people better. Plus this place is cash only. Wonder why? I just wish the little chippy across the road was open as food and staff much better. Maybe better on an evening but I'm not going back to try sorry as first impressions are best

This place is the best I go there every weekend or something in the week they are such nice people but the other fish and chips shop is not that good because I had hairs in my chips and there scallops are so bad but this place is so Amazing incredible chips there service is so good the food is divine I recommend to try the scallops THE PRICES ARE REALLY GOOD !!! If you ask for lots of salt and vinegar or whatever you get lots of it I’m one of there daily customers I would recommend going there .

Good choice of food, all cooked nicely. I would have preferred more salt and vinegar but that's personal taste

please consider shelfield chippy in spring lane. £5.50 for mini fish and battered chips and fantastic quality, portion size and choices. Brilliant customer service from small business husband and wife team. Cannot praise enough.

Horrid food kebab Meats rank & batter basically crumbles off , not the best

Batter is not crispy half of it comes off on paper . Superior potato needed for chips

Food was very poor quality! Looked and tasted like it had been sat there for hours on end! Staff also speak to each other in a rude manner, will definitely not be returning.

Fish was good, scampi was good, chips were hard dry and inedible. We wonder whether they were left over from lunch time. Have been using this chippie for 8 years and it has slowly but surely, been going down hill. Not quite sure what the bad reviews are about. The business has sold the freshest fish and chips for years AND even sell battered chips now. The shop is clean and management are always happy to help. Chippy weekend will always be a favourite in our household! Highly recommend the Ocean Fish Bar pelsall !!!! 🐟😍😍

Wow a chippy who doesn't do battered chips after 7pm on a Saturday....feekking poor that! Stick to Little chippy opposite where it busier! Says it all! And £5 for mini fish which has been flatted to look bigger? Avoid!

Very poor , the food was luke warm at best and very greasy. Thank goodness for gaviscon . The portion sizes are a joke. It's really gone down hill. Don't get me started about the staff, a young girl with huge false eyelashes and the personality of a pebble.

Chips are always red hot, and the batter on the fish is good. Quick service as well. Best chippy in pelsall I think.

The batter was so greasy and no fish the fish inside look like some one had ironed it flat very poor, chips were bery nice ,but when your paying £7.00 You expect an nice piece of chunky cod ,not an flat peice of fish

It's just ok nothing to get excited about. It's fish and chips It's not the best by a long shot and it's not the worst by a long shot. Very average for the area. Plus points it looked clean and wait time was minimal. Slightly pricier than other chippies however the fish portion size was better.

Poor portions of chips £3,50 like you getting a cone of chips spring was cooked like it was out thr freezer. The kebab bread fell a part put it in the bin

I bought lovely batterd chips from the little chippy over the road and ordered nice piece of Cod from here. They were puzzled and shocked not very amused when I walked in with other chipshop chips and ordered just there fish. I was waiting for my fish being cooked and I'm eating battered chips I bought from across the road cause they don't do em. Ha ha

I ordered some of their battered chips. They said we don't do them on a Saturday. That was OK They have started to do battered choc bars so I brought one from the coop next door as usual chipshops ask you to take your own and they said you have to pay for their own choc. I asked if there was anyway they could batter the ones we bought and pay full price as if we were buying their own and they said no in a very rude manner and weren't wearing masks when serving me. In the end I ordered scallops roe and chips. They didn't put my chips in the bag. I didn't go back because we live far away and just came to try the chips as we always have them from our usual from the chipshop by us The scallop was uncooked and the roe was mushy. Very poor shop and quality. RUDE STAFF and TERRIBLE SERVICE. never returning

Only fish and chip shop we use, always good size portions, and delicious.

We always have a good meal from here. The fish is usually extra large and beautifully flaky. The batter is very nice too. The pies and kebab meat are very good too. The peas are a bit hit and miss, sometimes a little watery. The staff are friendly and efficient.

Best chippy in the Midlands....always use it even though I have to drive to get there..well worth a visit

Usually lovely fish. Not sure what has changed but most definitely the worst fish and chips I have ever had. Chips were raw and I couldn't cut the fish with a knife and fork the batter was so hard and dried up. Barely any fish inside and what was there was grey, dried up and tasteless. Won't be going back.

I come from the other side of bloxwich for this chippy, the shop is always clean and cracking food every time. I have tried other shops in the area but you get what you pay for here. Keep doing what your doing guys and I will keep coming!!!

Best chip shop in the village. Good quality fish, nice chips and very friendly staff. In fact, been coming here for 20+ years and most of the staff are still the same.

Food was of poor quality and unpleasant tasting chips The last time I was here the staff were rude and treated me like some kind of idiot.

I find the food was better on a Wednesday then on a Friday/Saturday night and the staff are better too

Went into fish bar at 6.05 waiting for 25 minutes and still no one served me . Total ignored me not one of the four staff looked at me or spoke to me . even if they were bizzy . they could have least spoke it was my first visit and my last they don't disserve the business

Only 19 chip bits in a cone Soggy batter on fish . Go over the road much better

The mini fish special might cost a little more than u expect but the quality is superb, yet to find a Chippy as good as this and I use quite a few, excellent, clean food is fresh
