The Belgrave Beefeater in Torbay

Really nice location! You can see the sea from the restaurant, which is wonderful, and they have a large bar garden for when the weather is wonderful, so im sure in the summer it is very popular! We have been twice while on holiday down here, and both times we haven't had to book, but we went during the day. The restaurant itself is very clean, and the staff are lovely and friendly. They are attentive and helpful at every step, but not overbearing. The first time we went, we both had the chicken and ribs combo, which was very fresh and delicious. The ribs did have a slight spicy kick to them though, which I didn't know about! The second visit we had smothered chicken and beef lasagna. I wasn't overly thrilled by the chicken. It was cooked well enough, but the BBQ sauce was very vinegary, the lasagna was delicious though. The fish and chips looked amazing that a different table had! The toilets are a bit of a mission to get to where we were sat, but they were very clean and well signposted. I'd definitely go back here again, the food is nice and the staff make it wonderful!

Awful expensive just beefburger and chips 16.50p rubbish

Ordered two drinks, one being a cocktail. My drink arrived, to then be told by the waitress about 10 minutes later, the cocktail we ordered wasn't available. Ordered calamari for a starter, that was fine. Waitress collected the plate about 20-25 minutes after we had finished the starter, which is a long time. We then had to wait ages for our main meal, about 40 minutes. In the end I had to inquire about when we would be receiving it. My husband's starter was missing the coleslaw and for my meal, the calamari was so over cooked and tough it bounced off my plate onto the floor when I tried to put my fork into it lol! My prawns were also over cooked and rubbery. I'm so glad I had a 40% voucher as I would have felt cheated paying the full £22 for my awful meal. The waiter didn't apologise for the wait and offered no condiments. I had to get up and search other tables and get them myself. No one came over to give us our bill, so I had to get up again and walk toward the till area to pay. When I mentioned to the waitress (who was actually very nice) that one of the meals was missing the coleslaw, she just said 'I'm sorry about that' and that was it lol. Awful service, bad food. Staff need re-training. Was nice that they told us to have a nice evening when we left though.

We spend a lot of time in Premier inns and they are incredible value for money our experience at Torquay was amazing . Dinner was so lovely. which was made special by the two servers .,

Food was average but the waitress, Daisy, was excellent.

We ate here several times during our stay at the hotel and the staff were always lovely every time (even at 6.30am!) They were welcoming and accommodating. The food was really good, hot and quickly served. I'd be happy to return here again.

Fantastic place! I would highly recommend to anybody. My first time the other day and what a pleasant experience, me and the wife’s first anniversary. What can I say the staff are very welcoming and super helpful. The wife was struggling to find the best suited red wine to her meal and the waiter helped her out. End result the evening was perfect and the food is fabulous! Thank you

We had a celebratory meal at the Beefeater in Torquay. The food was lovely and the waitress Daisy-May was so accommodating. She was so patient with our son who was struggling with his food. We have neurodiverse children and meal times can often be stressful. Daisy-May made it much easier. If management see this.. Give her a pay rise!!! I'm sure we will be back!

Our waitress daisy may was very welcoming and pleasant and made our experience lovely on my birthday. The surf and turf was amazing and 10/10 for the sticky toffee pudding. Over all very happy :) thank you very much and well done to daisy for being such a lovely waitress x

Daisy was a lovely server very friendly and helpful and good with the children. Would come again especially with 25% off food bill. Nice family meal out.

No cask or bottled beer available. Didn't eat. Sat outside in the fresh air. Lots of seagulls on tables,but we was by the sea.

Very expensive food for what you get , steak and fries which were definitely chips . A double burger which had good flavour but brioche bun had been on the hot plate far too long and was hard and very bland coleslaw which I left , all in all not a great experience for nearly £40

Just to leave a review for one of the waiting staff member Daisy, I came down with my dad we didn't reserve we thought we try a walk table she kindly managed to squeeze us in as we were having a quick dinner, and serve us with a friendly manner thank you Daisy for squeezing us at a spure the moment for our meal

Nice meal but service this time was poor, very slow. We waited over 20 minutes after finishing our meal for the waiter, Daniel, to clear our plates. After requesting the dessert menu it took more than 5 minutes to arrive. Decided not to have a dessert as he didn't come back to take our order. After quite a while I saw Daniel at the till so I approached him to pay the bill. Even though I had my credit card in my hand and the card machine was beside him, he gave me the bill and said he would bring the card machine to the table. This again took quite a while but eventually he arrived, the bill was paid and we left.

Usual Beefeater offerings but portion size wise was disappointing. Less than a desert spoon of peas as a portion is unacceptable at the prices charged. That said the very accomplished waitress happily provided an additional portion at no extra charge so all good in the end. We wouldn’t rush to return.

Ok,just ok nothing more. Beefeater is one of those companies that sends you emails with money off vouchers but then when you try to use the vouchers miraculously the beefeater you're in doesn't take that particular voucher. Quick chat with the manager and a compromise was reached . I got my discount and he got the money his food and service deserved

Had the misfortune of dining here both for Breakfast and for Dinner. Breakfast mostly cold and when told,

Awful experience. Ordered the Salmon @ £18.75 this came and was tough, and the whole presentation was very underwhelming. I returned it and was given a refund but had to suggest that an apology would be welcome. I ordered veggie lasagne and was not charged for this. It took 20 mins to arrive and was barely warm in the middle. I took it back to the manager who had refunded me and placed the order for the lasagne. They apologised, took the plate, and said they were not sure what was going on in the kitchen?? In all this time my husband had to sit and eat his meal which was not great either. The original bill was £50 for 2 meals and 2 bottles of beers, not cheap. No one came back to check what I might want to do, and no one seemed to care. We won't be going to the Beefeater in Torquay again. Others beware of overpriced substandard food and service.

Food was alright I suppose and the person who served us behind the bar was friendly, but I'd never go there again... We Ordered the set menu, and we had to ask for the dipping sauce on our starters that was supposed to come with it, then after eating our mains several staff walked past our table after we'd finished and just sat there with empty plates for about 30 minutes. We had to ask them to clear our table and bring out the desserts we'd paid for, which they brought out before still clearing the table. The custard on the dessert had a skin as if it'd sat under a heat lamp for a while... But at least the ice cream was still cold (Supposed even they couldn't get that one wrong). Then to top the evening off the bar staff were still serving a couple who were clearly drunk and disruptive, to the point security had to kick them out just after being served. Definitely a place to avoid!

Food is nice but nothing amazing. I ordered my steak medium rare cost £19.49 so expected to see pink inside but instead it was more of a medium to well done. You think that a restaurant called “Beef” eater would know how to cook a beef steak properly to order

Food was okay. For the price Beefeater chargers, you expect better quality. A nice setting and do good to a late enough time which Torquay severely lacks. A simple little garden, enjoyable and service was good.

Great food. Great location and view. Last minute booking, table for 4. 3 adults and a teen. Greeted by friendly staff and service was perfect. Food was very good and plenty of it. Not particularly busy at 8:30pm but a nice atmosphere. The beefeater is adjoined to the Premier Inn. Plenty of parking available, 3hrs free for beefeater customers - sadly not available when I visited but a large long stay carpark is located just behind. Very happy, will return.

Definitely would not come here again. Portion size was small gammon was way to salty and way to fatty. Waited nearly 30 mins for desert. Massive plate for tiny desert

We stayed at the attached Premier Inn and had a drink in the Belgrave garden, a meal & breakfast. The garden although looks nice with the lights was messy with rubbish and the furniture neglected. Lots of seagulls which could be managed with some netting. The meal was hot but taste wasnt there. Breakfast was a big gripe of mine putting freshly cooked food on top of old food - food poisioning waiting to happen.

The food was lovely staff were nice but after we were seated left for about 15 minutes before anyone took our order not sure if they were short staffed.

Burgers are Standard everywhere. Steak ordered medium. Served well well done. Just ok are they had a proper rush on..

Went for a meal Wednesday 7th august. We had to ask for the table to be wiped clean as it was really sticky. Most of the tables around us were the same. A man and 2 children came in for food he asked for his table to be wiped. The man behind the bar handed him a cloth to do it himself. It wasn’t busy and there was 3 other staff just standing about

Bit shabby to be honest, called in for snack and drink -seating area inside and outside not tidy at all - not cleaned, bins flowing over with rubbish, unlike surrounding road and pavements areas all nice and tidy, Expected more of the Beefeater chain pub , stayed in many next to premier Inn other parts of the UK .

Great location but the worst hotel we have ever stayed in and we have stayed in some dismal hotels all over the world. The service is abysmal. The food is very expensive, as is the hotel. The food portions are a micky take and wouldn't even fill a child, we had tobtellbthem to take the food back and fill the plate with the right portions but even then it was tiny. Rooms are tiny, if you want a nearly normal sized room you have to pay extra...... GIVE THIS PLACE A MISS!!!

Food was okay, nothing particularly good or bad about it. Location is nice, lots of outdoor seating and they provide water for the dogs which is always appreciated.

We came in a very rainy day. Friendly staff good ordered quickly and was very tasty when it came. Advisable to book during school holiday time.

Excellent service by Jodean, friendly and attentive without being too much in your face. Three of us had food from the cheaper lunch menu which was really good. Under £40 for us all including drinks and coffees

Great atmosphere watching the football, we always love it here, the staff are friendly and views lovely across the bay when the sun shines!!

We booked for breakfast today and upon arrival were informed that the wheelchair user in our party was unable to help themselves to hot breakfast due to the counter being down 3 steps. This should be mentioned when booking once the option of booking a wheelchair accessible table has been taken. Staff at the time offered to help with obtaining hot food but it's a bit discriminatory when a redesign puts further restrictions on people with limited mobility.

We visited as a huge family group 20 of us in total for my grandsons 1st birthday. From the minute we walked in to the min we left we had excellent service from Matt, he really is a credit to the company. He was excellent with the kids and nothing was too much trouble. Food was really enjoyable and everything was served together. Thank you to Matt especially for a lovely meal

A great experience! A special shootout to the lovely Daniel who served us with great customer service and a smile. All other staff were so pleasant and helpful, too. Great quality food and a good price ... especially for kids and blue light discount. Would definitely recommend!

Beautiful view to enjoy a nice cheap meal

Stopped in for a bite to eat and a drink. Great location with lovely views out to sea across Torquay beach. Menu was great. Smaller meals available for lunchtime. Food was well cooked and tasty. Not too busy, it was a Thursday lunchtime, so not much atmosphere but that didn't detract from the overall experience. Highly recommended.

Group of 4 of us went for dinner. Food was good, very enjoyable, our server Daniel was extremely attentive and friendly, could not fault him.

Stood waiting at the door for a little while as you can’t really been seen from the restaurant. Food was great and service a little slow, waitresses standing around on phones. Everyone squeezed in to the same area even though half the restaurant was empty.

Top 5⭐ really good place to go with family, they have so much space so for a big family like us (12 people) was ideal and not noisy, the service was great always checking and the food was delicious and all served at the same time, they also have plenty of space for car park, I didn't took photos of the food but I can say it was delicious 😋

Myself and my husband have a fab night here and went back twice. Lush food and the staff are fabulous.

Hit and miss on food quality, we stopped in the Premier Inn for 2 nights , the 1st night / afternoon I ordered the surf and turf medium rare steak , the food arrived after around a 45min wait but tasted as if it had been microwaved, all I can imagine is that it was sat on a hotplate a while , the steak was overcooked and very chewy, chips were almost a stale taste and the shrimp were very chewy/ over cooked , the second afternoon was better but still not as good as previous meals in other beefeater restaurants. Both nights we were served drinks in chipped glasses aswell. Not what you would expect from such a well known food chain.

The staff were very busy. Food was delicious

It is not good when you are shown to your table then be forgotten about. Over half an hour until eventually having to go and find a member of staff just for a drink. I will not be dining here again. I don't really blame the waiters, which is why I scored a 2, not 1. In fact, I blame management for poor training.

Cold plates however the steaks were cooked nicely, all staff not looking very happy at all and some preferred there phone's to customers, elderly customers trying to use discount's and being told if they couldn't get them downloaded on to there phone they can't by pass the till system , WiFi signal very weak, I'm a former Whitbread licensee for many years and was always told Service, Standard's and Value doesn't seem to apply here

Regular for the lovely full continental breakfast! There are plenty of options, including drinks. Friendly and helpful staff. In nice weather, there's a choice of indoor or outdoor seating. Also visited for Dinner a few times with a various menu options to suit all, multi budget prices for all and again friendly and helpful staff.

mid and bartender was nice, put some lemonade in the wine for free, vibe was immaculate, there was a bloke in a hat literally throwing cutlery and drinks on the floor and nobody kicked him out. rogue children having wees in bushes outside isn’t great tho x

It's a lovely location, fantastic staff but the place needs a refurbishment, it has obviously suffered from covid and needs some tlc. There are quite a queues at the bar, so might need a bit more planning on the rota, as the staff try really hard

Come here quite often as I get regular emails with 33% discount so definitely worth it, on this visit the restaurant was quite busy but food came out in a reasonable time my vegetable lasagna wasn't quite hot enough but this was very quickly rectified and was very tasty, our waitress Emily was very pleasant and done very well also who must of been the restaurant manager was very professional despite having two different tables with quite rude customers on well done 🙏

Picked up a plate from the buffet area, was dirty so gave it to the cook, then noticed the pastries in the tubs on the shockingly dirty floor, just zoom in on the photo, was surprised I didn't see any rats/mice. Service was spot on and its been a few hours since eating and no food poisoning so that's a win. Imagine what the floor in the kitchen is like if that's what the breakfast bar floor is like, ouch.

Steaks we're extremely poor quality. However saving grace meals changed without comment. Replacements were much better. However - : 2 amazing. 1 dry no juice.
