Abbey Lawn Hotel in Torbay

My partner and I have just returned from Abbey Lawns. Whilst clearly not a high end hotel we non the less had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Although there were some tired edges to the decor our overall experience was very nice indeed.. We would return..

Having just returned from abbey lawn hotel,Torquay, we would like to praise all aspects of our stay,good food and service, marvellous entertainment, loved the pool and coffee shop,well done too all concerned,bathroom a little small though, hotel in lovely position with bus stops nearby and easy reach to seafront and into Torquay town, have been once previously, will come again eith daish coach hols,

Nice clean hotel, staff very welcoming, food good. Had a great time there. Days out Totnes and Buckfast Abbey. Dawlish, and Brixham.

Unfortunately lift not working during Twixmas when we arrived, so many aged people had great difficulty climbing up and down 3 flights of stairs. Obviously hard to get anyone to fix it at that time which was understood but didn't help. Breakfasts were very nice, drinks very reasonable, and some nice touches with trays of mince pies and baskets of sweets to help yourself!

Will be better once the builders are off site.

Just come back from spending Twixmas here. Yes a little dated, but for the price we pay we expected that. The staff are really friendly and made us welcome, even our teenager. He has asked to go back for Twixmas next year. Food we had was nice. Can't fault the staff who cook or served us. We thought the staff and management who put the kid's golden ticket presents put thought into what age group they were for. Enjoyed our stay and we got our steps in, due to the lift breaking down. No fault to the management.

Went here for Christmas food was very good our room was a patio room it was spacious and clean . The service was good especially considering the amount of guests and meal that been prepared. The entertainment was very good . Considering the staff were quite new they made our Christmas a happy one

You are looked after very well. Just ask they will help or get help. My husband is Gluten free they were very good with him.

Lovely staff, service good. Location on hill, buses at end of road going up and down all the time.

My sister and I are currently staying at the Abbey Lawn Hotel . We are very impressed with everything! The staff are extremely helpful, the rooms are clean, warm and comfy. The food is delicious and there are several choices to be had .I can't believe the service we had for the price we paid ! Well done Daish's holidays we will definitely come again .

I brought 35 clients to the Abbey Lawn from 17th to 21st September. We couldn't fault it, the food was excellent and plenty of it with a varied menu. Rooms,spotless, pool perfect, entertainment was very good. Would definitely bring people again. Thank you so much Julie Weller

needs redecorating very old and tired for the money you pay . arrived at 4pm and our rooms wasn't ready knocked on our door at 8pm to move us just very unorganised

House keeping was at a bare minimum,only once in my 4 night stay Dining service was disorganised and slow compared to another Diash hotel is was at recently. Always seemed to short staffed I had a thick skin on my soup one night. No coffee or tea arrived after the meal One breakfast we were forgotten in the toast area. I had lipstick on my coffee cup A not very clean fork. Room was minimal Bed was comfy duvet etc all clean

We enjoyed our time here very much. We felt so sorry for the staff, we heard they were having such a problem in the kitchen and waiting staff but we always had our meals with a smile. We will definitely stay there again 👍

Had a very nice stay at Abbey lawn, torquay room was great, food was great,entertainment was OK except for Sunday night with Andy oakley, he was superb, if you can film him when he does the race of married life, i would be extremely grateful .didn't like Mondays entertainment, not suitable for family show, pity because she had a great voice. Had a fab day out on the trip, well worth the Money paid, all staff were very friendly and if they could they would help you,👏👏 well done 1 an all.

We’ve recently stayed at the Abbey Lawn Hotel and whilst the hotel needs some TLC we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The room we stayed in could do with a lick of paint but it was huge and comfortable. The food was lovely. The biggest plus about this hotel was the staff they were so helpful and couldn’t do enough for you, they were understaffed but they all worked tirelessly to serve 3 big coach parties and I cannot praise the staff high enough (one of the lady managers was there all the time during our 5 day stay until past midnight most nights, serving breakfast and dinner) the dedication is amazing and for that reason I would go back again

Their was not enough waiters For all the guests.

Good hotel Good food .nothing to much trouble for them .had a great time.

The staff are all doing their best, Firstly please don't moan at the staff. They are doing their best. If the food isn't cooked in the kitchen then the young staff can't bring it out.. The person in charge of the dining and kitchen staff need to train them to be organised. I table got served in our row, then the rest had to wait for a long time... The lift is BROKEN.. so abbey lawn be organised swap les able guest to lower floors. Or ring the guest up prior to visit, to warn them. I'm surprised none of the less mobile with heart problems didn't collapse.... Over all yes the hotel is very shappy, old in need of a complete update.. but as we all know that cost money... The hotel is in a good location with a bus stop around the corner.

Just spent a few days at the Abby Lawn. Value for money and not too bad a stay but has issues. Lift not working for most of out stay which caused obvious problems especially for those with mobility issues. Should have been a priority for repair. Hotel entrance area a let down. Could do with a good clean. Bucket by so called seat overflowing with cigarette ends. Staff pleasant and enjoyable entertainment. Needs upgrading but obviously this would increase cost of stay.

We had an enjoyable visit, all staff friendly & helpful. Unfortunately they had problems with the lift, heated pool.
