I planned a visit with my family to celebrate my granddaughters 6th birthday. My grandson was going with us too. He has severe allergies to all dairy products, peas, nuts and sesame. My wife and myself were there a week before the planned occasion so we took the opportunity to discuss it with the maitre d. We had a long conversation about his allergies and were assured that all steps would be taken to assure his safety. When we all were seated at the table the following week i had a discussion with the serving waitress again regarding his allergies. She wrote down a list of all his allergies and presented them to the chef. She came bavk to us and told us that the only way the chef could guarantee his safety was if he took a roast dinner. This was fine with us. We asked for chips instead of mash, which was also fine with the chef. When the plate of food arrived and placed in front of my grandson, he immediately noticed it was covered with PEAS! He's only 7 by the way. I called the waitress and showed this to her. She was so embarrassed and angry that she stormed into the kitchen where we thought we could hear a blazing row. She came back and apologised saying she would rectify the situation. At this stage i had lost all confidence in the chef so the poor lad ended up with a plate of chips and a sachet of tomato sauce. Then they sent a kid of about 18 to our table to apologise on behalf of the kitchen staff. No visit from the chef or the manager. Then they kind of tried to make themselves invisible for the rest of our visit. Dont get me wrong, the beechlawns food is lovely and the staff are friendly but why arent these people properly trained regarding the dangers of allergies? They seem to think that you're just being a fuss pot. THESE ALLERGIES KILL!

I booked a table for six people today at 2 PM, we arrived on time and were seated, this was a lunch celebration for my 96 year old mother birthday. We had to go and ask for our order to taken, after our order was placed - it was 2.55 before our meals were served - we had to ask where they were, after half an hour waiting, and were told that the kitchen was only just preparing them - we had to ask - then two servings turned up while everyone else waited. NOT at all happy with this level of service, we also had to ask for our drinks order to be taken and then when desserts we ordered they just simply didn't turn up with no explanation - but were placed on the bill - removed after we pointed this out. The restaurant was not busy, we were not given any explanation as to why it took so long to be served or indeed an apology when the bill was wrong. It was a total letdown on what should have been a family celebration for our mothers birthday.

I like the food at the Beechlawn and eat there a lot, however today I felt very unsafe. We were served by 4 different waiters/waitresses throughout the meal, two of whom did not wear masks at all. I was with a friend who is high risk, I do not think it is worth the risk going back again. The tables are well spaced, hand sanitiser everywhere, but with table staff without masks standing at the table place us all risk

Went here for my brother's birthday lunch and it was a complete disaster. There were 7 of us. One person had a starter which took about half an hour to come. Then another long wait for our main course. I had to send mine back as the lettuce was soggy and out of date. After another 20 mins my lunch hadn't come back from the kitchen and everyone else at the table was finished their meals so I had to go to the waitress and cancel it. Apparently they forgot about me and I was offered a complimentary dessert. The desserts took at least another 20 mins to come also. Basically I left hungry and was so disappointed as many groups came in after us and were long gone before us.

We have been customers here for about 30 years and have always enjoyed eating here..... until recently. Although the food remains great the service has become terrible. There seems to have been a change in management procedures in restaurant and it is messy. Two weeks running we have witnessed the same problem on a Friday evening. We had 3 or 4 different waiters/waitresses take parts of our order and no one seems to know what order is for which table. Added to that the waiting times have become ridiculous. We waited ages to get our orders taken, two of them were wrong, and it took over 35 mins for our main courses to arrive. I ended up asking for my desert in a takeaway box as we had been there over 2 hours and only had main courses. Terrible. Will have to give it a miss for a while which is a shame as the place is looking great with all the renovations.

Me and my partner was looking for something to eat while we were in Dunmurry. So we decided to call in and see if we could get a seat. Waitress as host was nice and told us about special and went through menu, we ordered 2 stufed Turkey dinner and jug of water. All was going good till other waiters brought water to table and while she put down she was very unpleasant. Dinner was tasty and nice I wouldn't rush to come back as are mamy better places and restaurants to eat out. So General experience was just average.

Compared to my poor hotel review, and the fact that the restaurant is in the middle of the reception area and not actually in the room marked "Restaurant" I thought the food part of my stay was the best part of the whole thing. The first night I had a Chicken tower burger, which comes with three huge onion rings, the onion rings were pretty gross so I didn't eat them but the rest of it tasted lovely. I also had the loaded wedges which were top notch also. The 2nd and third nights I had the chicken goujons, chips and pepper sauce, this was beautiful and definitely the favourite so far. For starts I had the brie bites and baby back ribs respectively. Service was quick, the staff polite, the only thing that annoyed me is that after they take the plates away they don't come back to you, we had to hunt round how to get the bill for the meal on the first night, I can imagine a lot of people can get away with eating and not paying here. So they need to be more attentive in that area. Otherwise, this was the highlight of what has been a dreadful stay.

A group of us went for lunch but ended up disappointed. It was semi busy and I thought this a good sign. Menu choice seemed ok, much of the usual, nothing signature or outstanding. Service from the front of house staff was good in the beginning and ended up just acceptable. Food was the main issue. It was very very slow to arrive. After a heavy glare from one of our party, it was explained that there was a problem with the sandwich machine. Strange as we hadn't ordered any toasted sandwiches. Some of us ordered cooked food and that was hit and miss. Costs were alright, about £13 a head after some soft drinks.

Awful, terrible, rubbish, inadequate staff, hopeless chef, overpriced crap on a plate, oh when it eventually arrives! 15 of us there today for dinner, arrived 5pm, pre booked, at 5.30pm someone eventually took our order for drinks, drinks arrived 20 mins later. At 5.50pm another useless staff member (or was it just some random guy off the street) took our food order, wAited 30 mins for this to arrive, I ordered carbonara which was described as in a creamy white sauce - really? Well no sauce on my plate, just a heap of oil, it was vile and such a small portion, it was more like a child's dish. It would take me all day to tell you the crap that my family got on their plates but suffice to say it was pathetic, did the chef ring in sick? Anyway, the staff done their best to ignore us and avoid doing any work, they were too busy texting on phones and chatting together. Unfortunately we decided to order sweets and coffees, what a disaster that was. By this stage it was 7.10pm and another lengthy wait followed, we had to go and ask a waitress to take our dirty dishes away and bring the sweet menu, the special cheesecake at £5.95 was honeycomb so a few of us ordered that, what arrived was chocolate cheesecake, no honeycomb at all, and my portion was cut into a small square (everyone else has triangular slices) and you will never believe this but I did not have any biscuit base, yip just the top of the cheesecake was on my plate!!!! I was so annoyed, my husband brought the plate to reception and complained, about 20mins later this guy arrived and asked if I wanted another slice of cheesecake and I refused as I would robablybe waiting for it until next Easter. It appears the staff are not trained, not interested and really couldn't care less, as for the chef, he must be fully trained in the use of microwaves, manager? Hello is there one? If there are s then you are not doing your job. Please do not waste your time and money on this dump, stay at home and make a slice of toast because I can assure you it will be like a Michelin star meal compadres to this place.

I've never left a review on trip advisor before, however felt compelled to do so on this occasion.Arrived for dinner at 7.20pm with my family including 2 young children. We Were left standing for about 5 minutes after the waitress took our name (we had previously booked) and then wandered off. We were eventually shown to our table. After a lengthy period of time a waiter returned to take our drinks order. Again, our drinks took at least 10 minutes to come. A waitress then came up to take our order,or so we thought..she advised us she didn't have a pen and then wandered off and didn't return for another 5 minutes. She then took our order. After at least 45 minutes our main courses had yet to arrive. I then complained to whom I thought was the manager, who advised me that I had only ordered 15 minutes ago, which of course was nonsense. When our main course did arrive the kid's tomato pasta was literally some boiled pasta with a dish of tomato sauce (the heinz ketchup kind)by its side. This was quickly returned to the kitchen and a more appropriate tomato pasta eventually came out. When ordering dessert the same waitress again returned without a pen and again wandered off. This was literally basil fawlty esque.Suffice to say I would not recommend this place to anyone and i certainly won't be back

Was at a family do - about 15 of us. Since I always have trouble finding room when eating out and since I'm conscious of not eating enough veg, decided to go for a meat starter and veggie main course.Starter: duck confit - very nice.Main: vegetable enchalada - not bad but definitely nothing to write home about.Decided I had room for a dessert, so ordered a knickerbocker glory. Still can't believe what they served up. A knickerbocker glory is an ice cream sundae. An ice cream sundae is mostly ice cream - the clue is in the name. What I was served was mostly cheap jelly with some diced fruit on top, capped with one small scoop of ice cream and a dollop of fresh cream and two chocolate flakes. For which they had the gall to charge a fiver. And it was only after a minute or two had passed that the waitress came with the correct spoon for the thin glass - I had been trying to make do with the normal dessert spoon that was sitting at my place. Being typical NI I don't like making a fuss but I decided that I was going to give them the chance to redeeming themselves, so I stopped after having only eaten no more than a quarter.I was waiting for when the waitress came to clear up to see whether she would ask me if there was a problem. She didn't - she just lifted my hardly touched dessert without saying a word. And now that I think about it, at no point do I recall her asking us at any phase of our meal whether it was ok. Normally I don't like this question - it's like a challenge to our ingrained politeness. It would be much better rephrased along the lines of "how could we improve your meal?", but at least it shows that they care enough to pay lip service to the concept of customer care. It's not a good sign when they don't bother to even go that far though.Anyone from the Beechlawn who is reading this (if they have anyone who cares enough to read their negative reviews) may think that I'm being unfair because I didn't tell them at the time that I was dissatisfied. Well I'm sorry but if you choose to enter the entertainment industry in a society whose culture is to not complain, you'd better be damned sure that you get it right first time. You had two opportunities to get this right - you could have employed a chef who knows what an ice cream sundae is in the first place, but having failed that your staff should have been properly trained in customer service. If you can't be bothered to train your staff then get a decent maître d' to keep them on their toes - a good maître d' would spot a customer who was not happy.

My friends and I decided to go into the restaurant yesterday as we were in the area, As soon as we sat down the wait started not one person came near us for a good 20minutes never mind that our table had not even been wiped. I was trying to wave over who I take it was the manager standing on his phone and stated that we had no menus and the table had not been wiped he then proceeded to wipe the crumbs off the table with his hands then said he'd send someone over to give us menus. we then sat another 10minutes before someone finally came although she was a pleasant girl I asked to complain to the manager and she brought back the fella who wiped our table with his hand I then proceeded to try to complain which he just rolled his eyes at me then said 'put it in an email' I was shocked and disgusted at this then suggested to my friends that we went somewhere else thank god no one had actually took our order for drinks because I defiantly would not been paying for them. all my party have agreed we will defiantly not be back to this place.

We were at a special occasion in the Beeches restaurant yesterday. The restaurant itself is very small and quite dated. The food itself could not be faulted. I had the chicken causal salad to start, and very nice it was too. It could've been doing it a little more dressing, but that is most likely just my own personal taste. For my main I had roast rib of beef with pepper sauce, which was delicious. The tastiest pepper sauce I've ever had. The beef was very tender and tasty. Ore pepper sauce was provided as a side in case we needed any more, which I did. The dessert menu was quite varied with trio of ice creams, apple crumble with custard (which sets to died out now in restaurants here, in favour of ice or whipped cream, caramel crunch pie etc. I had the knickerbocker glory which unfortunately didn't live up to its name. A tiny portion of ice cream, and even less of whipped cream, atop a strawberry jelly with pieces of chopped melon through it. It was tasty enough but just didn't leave me sated. My wife had profiteroles and said they were great. So far, so good, okay? Well not really as we had to wait ages for a waitress to, first, take our drinks order then we waited quite some time or this to be delivered. But it was the meal service that really disappointed us. At least half an hour passed between each course. Tea and coffee were served without any milk or sugar and by the time the waitress appeared again (she'd gone for a ciggie, apparently) both were cold. When she brought out fresh beverages along with fresh cups, two of the cups still had coffee foam round the edge and another was cracked. When my cousin, who had organised and was paying for the meal, complained, it was met with a "so what?" attitude. If the restaurant or adjoining bar had been very busy we could've understood some delay but we were the only people in the place. All in all it was a dreadful experience and we will be giving it a wide berth in future.

My husband and I have been regular customers of the Beechlawn House Hotel for over 10 years, our wedding reception was also held at the hotel in 2009.Today, my husband and I were extremely annoyed and embarrassed when we visited for dinner at 4.15 pm. After seating ourselves in the bar with our three young children for a meal we were asked to leave as our 13 year old son had a Manchester United football top on. There was only 1 other couple in the bar at the time.On many previous visits my husband and children have worn football tops and we have never been asked to leave. My husband and myself have even been in the hotel bar on numerous occasions watching football games when the bar has been packed with others watching a football game (also wearing football tops) and we have never witnessed anyone being asked to leave. We where approached by a waitress who asked us to leave as football tops were not permitted in the hotel. I asked her was this something new and I was informed that it was not. Upon leaving I asked another waiter was there a customer notice anywhere displaying information about wearing football tops and I was informed that there was one outside, however my husband took a look around and found no such notice. So, I went back into reception and asked the lady on reception where the notice was and she informed me that there was no notice and that it was just hotel policy. When I asked to speak to the manager I spoke with a gentleman who said he was the duty manager, who said he had only been working in the Beecklawns for 6 months, and that renovations had been done to the front of the building and that maybe the sign had been taken down. I find this to be totally unacceptable as if customers or guests are not allowed to wear football tops there should be a clear notice displayed outside stating this before entering into the hotel. In addition ever before the hotel front was renovated I do not ever remember seeing any such sign on the outside of the hotel.Furthermore, this still does not explain how we have been in the hotel on many occasions wearing football tops along with others and never been asked to leave. We may have even been a little more understanding if there had of been a controversial football game on such as Rangers and Celtic but this was absolutely uncalled for and unacceptable as there was only 1 other couple in the bar at the time.We are both very disappointing with the outcome of today and feel embarrassed having been asked to leave, not to mention badly let down as regular customers of the Beechlawn House Hotel.

5 of us visited here for dinner on Easter Sunday. Food was nice apart from my melon and sorbet starter that was served on a warm plate! The biggest let down was the fact that they really crammed as many people in as possible. The decor was in desperate need of updating as it looked as though an old peoples home had shut down and the hotel took their furniture! The tables were cheap and shabby and the chairs literally looked like the ones the old people sit in in their homes. Price was reasonable but Id much rather gone elsewhere due to decor as food couldnt have made up for it.

Even when you request a different one ( we were wiiling to pay) their is no other option and have only to put up with this rubbish. It appears that this rubbish is either bought in bulk or made up to feed the whole of dunmuury. The management should urgently and seriously review the hotel's menu otherwise there is no doubt customers will let them know by boycotting the place, certainly for food.
