A really lovely place to grab a breakfast, thankfully the vegetarian option is unreal! It's one of the best vegetarian breakfasts I've ever had, definitely recommend eating here.

Ate there today - 21 Feb - 2024 Restaurant pleasant enough and clean. The staff came across as SLIGHTLY unfriendly. Perhaps they are more task oriented rather than people oriented? Prices reasonable - although greatly increased in the two years since the photo of its menu was uploaded to your website. Very pleased with the goat’s Chees and beetroot salad. Would definitely have this again.

Fantastic Coffee shop in Hillsborough. Plenty of seats so even when it gets busy they should be able to squeeze you in and are very accommodating. The selection of tray bakes is good. Popped in for lunch. The menu is orientated to breakfast/brunch so we found it a bit limited for lunch. I had the smashed avocado/bacon/sourdough bread which was delicious. My wife had two side dishes - beetroot salad and sweet potato fries. The portion size of the side dishes was large and were a more than adequate lunch. Service was like a production line which was understandable as the place was very busy, but good. If you just want a meal, it's excellent.

Busy, spacious cafe set a little off the main street in Royal Hillsborough. I've visited a few times, and food and coffee are both decent, but far from amazing. Staff are a little on the curt side, but with how busy it is I can't blame them. The cafe does feel a little bit like an escalator in that there isn't any "special feeling" here at all. Despite this though, I would still recommend for an afternoon trip or meet-up. Takeout is also available.

Extremely overpriced for what you get. Probably one of the worst coffees I have had for many years, zero foam or texture to the flat white, felt like just coffee with cold milk poured in. The food then was very dry in general. The chips were under cooked so still hard. The curry had a good flavour but the chicken was super dry. The fry and sausage roll were also dry. The portions were also small, the fry for £11 plus £1.25 for some dry beans (madness) was very underwhelming. In general the staff were fine just not particularly welcoming or warm. Atmosphere was also fine but in general seems to cater for an older population based on who seems to frequent. In summary, if you want a brunch/lunch with good coffee, decent portions at a good price, I would recommend heading up the street somewhere else or just into Belfast where your options are all much better 😂

I frequent this cafe as I enjoy the food but dread each time the lady who dresses mostly in black with a black faux leather skirt, glasses and black hair tied up. Each time she asks where I am sitting and insists I sit with my partner in a 2 seated table which we have no problem with. The problem we have is that several people on each occasion singularly sit at 4 seated tables or a booth and bring out a laptop or a book and she never approaches them. The worst case was when a couple in front of me ordered their breakfast and proceeded to sit at a 4 seated table and she said nothing! Then asked me if we would sit at a 2 seated table? I had ordered toast and was waiting on my coffee at the counter, I lifted a few pats of butter and she stopped serving the customer after me and grabbed the butter of my tray and threw it back in the bowl and said sternly your butter will come out from the kitchen. Rude, ignorant and a stinking approach.

Surprisingly, having visited three or four times, it seems to get worse every time. My initial visit was with the full family on a Sunday, I thought it was potentially just the fact the staff were young and hadn’t been trained to any standard. Having worked in restaurants for a long time there are few things that really grind my gears. One is staff avoiding customers and doing no work. A second is staffs drinking in public view and a third is staff using a glass as an ice scoop, especially one they had just drank from. The coffee was weak, the food was bland and the staff looked lost. My next visit was with my daughter, she is 2, no help from the staff to carry or even offer to carry anything, was directed to the high chairs (with a 2 year old in my arms) and was told if it gets busy I’d be asked to move….it was 9am and we were the only 2 people in the restaurant. My, what will be my final visit is today, I’m actually sat here on the restaurant right. Same issues about food, this time my omelette was boarder line burnt. I am all for supporting local businesses, but I am afraid this will be my last visit. Massively disappointing.

Takeout experience only. Felt the music was very loud and as such the conversation noise level was even louder and the screen in front of the till is very large with no real gaps to help communicate with the server so it was very difficult to place an order even as someone without hearing difficulties. The brownie was wrapped in a bag which was folded multiple times I though it was going to be squished but I have to say it was a very nice brownie. Had the sausage rolls cold, which was fine. Usually parking on the street isn’t an issue and they accept card payments. Recommend otherwise.

We ordered pancakes and bacon and the food came cold which was unpleasant. Coffee served in disposable cups, which made it lukewarm at best. Cutlery was sitting out on a big table prone to receive any germs from coughs, sneezes and people's hands. The toilet was most unpleasant (bin overflowing, terrible odour, etc). The staff are not wearing masks and not even socially distancing from customers! The tables are almost side by side, not even 1-metre apart, let alone the 2-metres mandated by the government! I didn't give it 1/5 only because the staff were nice but oh-my-goodness in these times when there is an actual pandemic, staff and management are being too laid back! No track and trace details were collected as in other far more responsible coffee shops I've been to. Wouldn't go back!

This was our first visit to this modern cafe - in the beautiful village of Hillsborough. We drove there, the short distance, from Marks & Spencers, Sprucefield - where we had been doing some early-morning shopping (at a quiet time). We were advised to sit at a table, browse the menu, then, one customer was to come to the servery and order.By then, three other customers had gone direct to the servery - and I had to wait (longer than necessary). It would have been better if a waitress had come to the table and had taken down our order; the cafe was well staffed! Our Small "Owl" fry was nicely presented - but the unusual oblong plate was too small - for comfortable eating. The fry was tasty and wasn't greasy; we enjoyed it.However, a fry in Hedleys', Lisburn (our usual cafe) would have cost £5.00 less, tasted just as nice, and the atmosphere/ambience would have been more "homely".This cafe is modern, spacious, has excellent hygiene/distancing arrangements and has fresh (almost clinical) decor. Pleasant background music was played at a comfortable volume. At 09:15, this cafe seemed to be used more for "take-aways", perhaps, than for "sit-ins"!Very suitable for wheelchair users - being just "off the street" - at ground level. It would be a convenient "stop-off" for a meal - when coming to Hillsborough from the A1 Dual Carriageway (Lisburn-Banbridge-Dublin).Staff were efficient and friendly, but more "business-like" than "homely"!

My wife and I bought 2xBreakfast brioche - £5.95 each. I think that’s probably fair. The coffee is over priced - £3.50 for medium americano, £3.75 for medium latte. Then add £5 for for hasbrowns (ridiculous!). The brioche breakfasts weren’t anything to write home about. Everything tasted fair but at nearly £25 I looked at what my money had bought me and felt ripped off. In my view it’s the coffees and hasbrowns that are the problem here. If I want to spend £25 on breakfast, I shall be going somewhere where I feel this price range is worth it. I think Bob and Bert’s are pitching themselves at a level that is above where they’re at. It’s just a cafe, not a restaurant. Sorry but won’t be back.
