We had booked a room at The Two Bridges but were moved to The Beresford due to power cuts at the Two Bridges. The Beresford was ok, but the room was very small. We were freezing after a day out hiking on the moor but there was no way for us to warm up in the shower because the water from the shower was just a trickle. Our stay was ok otherwise.

As expected of a 3 star hotel , however parking is an additional charge which isn't hidden whilst booking but an unwarranted cost if your staying at the hotel. the restaurant didn't meet my expectations a little over priced and too extravagant for a 3star hotel.

Booked in for work, my bedroom was ok but quite pokey, and the bathroom was so tiny you couldn't even use the sink properly. It was right on the front main road and without double glazing the noise from that was quite loud. Also, there was a cleaning cupboard and other doors outside in the hall which were slamming late and early. Staff were friendly though and breakfast was nice, but probably wouldn't choose to book here again for the money.

Left 24.11.24 in the morning found we had a puncture. Your receptionist and one of the chefs attempted to assist and change the wheel. Most impressed by their commitment and courteousness, highly commended. Rooms a bit tired, no curtain in bathroom and windows rattling. It was windy! Food amazing and menu very interesting.

Perfect location in Tavistock. We held a Wake in the portrait room. There was a member of staff on hand to help with refreshments. The room was spacious and had character. The sandwiches and cakes were delicious with plenty of choice. I would highly recommend for an event or even to pop in and have a drink. Cosy seating next to the fire. Parking at the rear available.

A wonderful afternoon was spent here, enjoying an afternoon tea, which was delicious, for my fathers 80th birthday. Everything went to plan regarding the surprise element of the day. The whole team looked after us efficiently and with warm friendliness. The Hotel itself is a beautiful building with a delightful walled garden to be enjoyed on warm, sunny days. A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon was had by all. Well done to all the team that made the occasion special.

Visited for an 80th birthday afternoon tea which was to a high standard, the food was superb, the waiters were very helpful, and the gardens were well kept. 10/10, well done to all.

The good. Big, comfortable, clean rooms. Nice friendly staff, great location in the centre of Tavistock. The not so good. £8 to park if you’re staying, free if your only eating or drinking in the hotel. Feels like a rip off. Poor, over complicated WiFi. Breakfast was mediocre and took ages to be served.

Pretty poor experience for afternoon tea. The seats were very uncomfortable. The chesterfield twisted my back and was far too low and far back from the low table. I complained at the time but nothing was done. Previous experience of afternoon tea was excellent here but the lounge venue was very noisy as people were shouting down the corridor at each other. So the venue was not appropriate for afternoon tea. No background music just noise! Service, definitely basic and had gone down since last time we visited there. No finesse whatsoever. The food quality was adequate but the way it was presented was not at all delicate. Were the sandwiches cut by a navvy? The scones were too large the whole presentation was out of proportion for afternoon tea which is meant to be delicate afternoon fayre. I know you can do better so why the poor service? Not recommended for afternoon tea.

A Warm welcome with professional customer service from desk to restaurant, with easy parking and car security through a locked down car park after midnight Room was clean, tidy and the bed comfortable, but the room was slightly too hot for my own personal choice. Food quality was good, well presented but offered limited Evening Menu choice, (Only 2 meals I felt I would order). Main Menu offers being of top end decription, that may unsettle a less experienced dinner? The price point was slightly higher than expected for a resident versus a casual diner popping in for lunch, compared to other recent hotel stays. But the menu description format, could be suggested to encourage the use of higher price justification ? Breakfast choice was broad, inline with expectations, with the cooked breakfast being cooked well. Only minor criticism was toast was offered as White or Granary. Granary toast was ordered, but Wholemeal was served.. This may have just been a staff member error or mis understanding of the product ? But did not spoil the experience Grounds were a small oasis within a business town, providing a pleasant morning walk. Would recommend venue to anyone wishing to visit area and would hapoily use again by my own request

Stayed here two nights on business. Being a vegan my food options are usually limited and/or uninspired. Not here though, imaginative dinner and business buffet lunch were superb! Hotel overall was of a very high standard, staff were excellent, attentive and helpful. With great car parking I highly recommend The Bedford, thank you, your hard work does get noticed.

We enjoyed the scones with clotted cream in the very cozy restaurant. The affordable champagne afterwards at the bar rounded off the pleasant stay.

Popped in for a cream tea....still delicious but appalling value for money. £8.50 for one cream tea. One scone ( now much smaller than they used to be) & one cup of tea. I realise products cost more these days but one small scone is mean. Sorry but won't be back.
