The Bear And Bells Beccles in Waveney

Not up to the reputation I’d been led to believe, especially on a fairly quiet Friday. 2 huge fish cakes which lacking in fish and too much potato on a HUGE bed of peas with a mix of cherry and sun dried tomatoes - a very confusing combination. An enormous side of fries. This was more about quantity and quality, as many places seem to be like in Beccles now which is such a shame. Other main was chicken supreme - was okay but the peppercorn sauce was horrible - very very thin and overpowering. Shame.

Works Christmas meal, we were in a separate room, fab room, own bar and own toilets. Food was amazing, everyone has commented on how lovely the food was, presented lovely. Waitresses attentive, really friendly staff and wonderful atmosphere. Perfect Christmas do, we will be back. Thank you team bear and bells.

Had a fantastic lunch for my birthday with the family. Lovely waitress too and very good value. The food was well presented with good sized portions.

Disorganised with average food. Also, no guarantee they won't get reservation time wrong. Prepare to wait. We did. They're obviously ill-equipped to feed groups. Meals were pre-ordered. Not everyone received their meal at the same time. When it finally arrived, the meal was cold. As a diner waiting till everyone else was almost finished, it's unpleasant and unacceptable. Staff is pleasant but Management is not customer friendly. Dine elsewhere.

We were a party of about 30, meeting for a Christmas get-together in their private back room. They made it nice and festive with a tree and decorations. The food was absolutely cracking. The choices were traditional turkey dinner, brisket and salmon, plus vegetarian option, all presented beautifully and in huge portions. The staff, Gemma and Georgia, were attentive and kept pace. Overall it was such a good venue and we'll definitely be booking again. Thank you Bear and Bells.

Stopped here for Sunday lunch.... Absolutely fantastic would highly recommend. Staff were great, food was delicious, couldn't fault it. Highly recommended

Stayed for a couple of nights in Beccles & this pub was my local. Staff were very welcoming. They were really busy but were able to bring us food to eat in the bar. Great atmosphere & great value.

Not been for a while but first class experience, food was ace. What shook me was I was recognised from our last visit. Can't praise the staff enough. Brilliant

Due to circumstances which were totally unforeseen which necessitated them bringing another chef in, our meal was terribly delayed. However Jemma and her staff were wonderful in keeping us informed of the situation and more than recompensed us for the inconvenience of the delay. Having been in the trade I understand these things can and do happen, it's the way that it is dealt with that leaves the lasting impression. Well done to all at the Bear and Bells 👍👍

We popped in for a meal and straight away we were met by a lovely smile and a " good afternoon". Good start I thought! We ordered our meal, we both had scampi & chips a favourite of ours and could not fault it, not only was the presentation first class but the quantity was great too. All too often your get 6 or 8 pieces of scampi but here you get about twice that , lovely tartar sauce tasty chips and mushy peas and all for an acceptable price too. The landlady was helpful friendly but efficient other staff on duty were pleasant and chatty. The building itself has the old wooden beams, a bit dark inside but this is in keeping with the age of the building. Would we eat here again, of course we would, we would be silly to eat elsewhere Keep up the standard, nice pub lovely atmosphere. Say hi to Arthur

Called in for drinks en route to Funeral. The landlady stepped in when there was no cabs available to get us to the Crematorium, she kindly took us in her own car to make sure we made it on time. A very kind gesture. Great pub with great beer, the food looked great too.

The best steak & ale pie, really home made. All our party had great plates of imaginative foods. Sweet was pretty as a picture. Lovely staff and excellent cheffing. Will go again soon. Thanks guys

Planned to come here after a swim at the lido whilst on holiday.Ideal location & dog friendly.Arrived and it was clear it was our first time as we asked directions to the bar staff to the garden area at the rear for the dogs.Asked for menus just before 2pm to be told no food on offer.To add insult the table next to us then received meals.I asked again & was told as it’s now after 2 we will not be served.Clearly don’t need the business & website info attached-advertised food till 2:30pm.Needless to say won’t be frequenting here again

Having visited some time ago whilst under previous management I had no intention of returning Having heard of the change of ownership 4 of us visited on a Friday evening I would advise booking The service was friendly and efficient the food was very good we had sausage and mash steak and ale pie chicken parmigiana and the Bear and Bells burger all very good The prawn and white bait starters were generous and tasty All in all a very pleasant dinner which will be repeated Biggest relief was that aunt Bessie has had the sack

Decided last minute to have dinner. Sat outside with our dog. Food was fantastic; fresh ingredients, piping hot and delicious tasting. Good size food portions too. Staff really friendly and helpful. Lovely evening all round Thank you very much.

Hubby and I heard about the restaurant/pub when we moored at the marina. Totally took us by surprise, amazing food, freshly cooked but beware, the portions are big! Staff were very friendly and attentive.would definitely recommend.

Whilst being on holiday on the Norfolk Broads we went to the little market town of Beccles and not knowing where to eat we went to the nearest Pub which was the Bear and Bells We weren’t disappointed we had a great meal there and...

Very nice smart pub but menu doesn’t have the widest of ranges but is very nice food. Doesn’t really cater for children but beer is well kept

Called in for a quick drink with our dog, very warm and welcoming. Comfy and relaxed atmosphere. Will be calling in again if I’m the area.
