The Beacon in North Tyneside

Booked a table at this pub and I was attended to promptly, the food was delicious and the toilets were clean. Very happy and will come back.

Food on this occasion was excellent, sometimes vegetables are a bit hit and miss. Service very good.

Sunday lunch , the worst I’ve had and I go out every Sunday , the beef was on the bone, very fatty and what I thought was a parsnip was actually just a huge wide bone , lunch was barely warm , veg limited, ie , 2 tiny carrots , a spoonful of cabbage , and 2 small partially roast potatoes, won’t be back

We visit every Wednesday night for the quiz and always greeted warmly by Paul and the team. The food is good value and decent quality. There is a good selection of drinks served by Luke, Heather and Lillian who give service with a smile.

Great place with great staff...... especially that Kelly one.

We regularly attend the Wednesday quiz night. It’s a bit of fun and keeps the old grey matter alive! This week we went earlier and used our quiz winnings to have a meal beforehand. The ultimate burger was delicious and I would absolutely have this again. Luke, Trina, Heather and Lilian are always really friendly and welcoming as are Paul and Fiona of course.

Excellent service and really nice food and surroundings.

Had a lovely meal here with some friends. All the staff were extremely pleasant, Luke gets a special mention in particular for being so friendly and helping us decide what food to get. The food we did get was great and the atmosphere was super!

Had a nice meal at The Beacon, the food is of good standard, staff very pleasant, the atmosphere is good as well. Can't complain.

A really lovely pub way above average

Lovely cosy place and great value for money! Had a discount code as well, with a decent sized fish meal, and my daughter had a kids pasta and ice cream all for the same price as a McDonald's!

Took my son, for an impromptu meal, before dropping him off home, at the weekend. The food was very nice, although my son thought the spicy chicken burger wasn't spicy enough - fries were amazing. Great atmosphere and managed to bag a seat next to the fireplace, which was cosy. Will definitely come back again :)

Came for birthday celebration with partner and son ,food was beautiful sea bass fillets for myself , steak Guinness pie partner Sausage mash for my son , piping hot food

Went in for lunch on Sunday ...ordered the lasagne which was.cremated also garlic bread black around the edge's...my husband got the so called special fish and chips the fish was OK but the so called crispy batter was not crispy ...you need a new chef who doesnt rely on a microwave !

For a pub that serves food at christmas time you would think they would be organised. Left hand didnt know what the right hand was doing and all tables and food choices were pre booked. Never again..

Went last week and had an amazing time. Such a wonderful atmosphere, especially on quiz night. Food was reasonably priced and tasted delicious. Great selection of choices. We were served by luke and he was brilliant

Great looking after a group of 9 on what looked like an already busy day / evening - I don’t envy you, especially this time of year! It was my birthday and with the Beacon being my ‘local’ it my suggestion to stay close to home, with friends traveling to visit. My friend and I use the pub frequently, love the menu, reasonable prices and a cosy feel. Thanks for a lovely evening!

Enjoyed Festive Fayre on 6th dec. Food was plentiful and delicious and staff festively decorated our sitting area. Service and atmosphere great

A bit of a disappointment after not having been for a while. Staff couldn't be bothered to find a lime wedge for my wife's drink.

I had a voucher for 50% of for Black Friday portion size was good but the food was absolutely terrible I opted for the Xmas dinner everything was cold apart from the frozen roast potatoes lucky I never paid full price also I am poorly today will not be going back I’m affraid

Really good pub food and nice atmosphere. Really friendly staff. They do a good quiz and play your cards right on a Wednesday night which is worth a visit.

Friday curry night Food was mixed: # Starters were tasty # Mains were ok but the nans were a bit wet rather than oven crisp # popadoms weren’t crispy or seasoned enough Service: Staff are super friendly & efficient Atmosphere: was great, warm & friendly The beer was the star of the evening: Wingman 👌🏻 Super convenient being walking distance but if we want a curry we’ll head down to the Ahar 🫶🏻

Good quality food though chips could be a little hotter. Pleasant atmosphere and helpful friendly staff. Good selection of beers and CAMRA discount available. Will definitely return

Excellent food and friendly atmosphere

Asked for NO roast potatoes and got a load. Gammon was fatty and tough. Veg was lots of peas and a tiny bit of really tough cabbage. Not impressed this time. 50% went in the bin sadly.

Nice place to relax with a drink

Popped in recently for a meal after recommendations from others & loved the food. To improve things in a big way, please don't include waxed lemons or limes into drinks without asking as they are not veggie or vegan. These are covered in shellac which is basically lac pee that is used to preserve citrus fruits but also results in the death of the insects. Spoons are aware of this & so should every other place . Thank you.

Outstanding as always. It has value for money compared to so many other places, with staff and atmosphere unmatched (special shout out to both Kelly and Sam who always work tirelessly to ensure the best possible service). The menu is broad and the way they ensure safety for allergies is reassuring and dedicated. The best pub in the local area by some distance. 10/10

We lived in the area for years and had never got around to visiting until last year. We’ve been lots of time since. Lovely pub. Kept in great condition, the people are super friendly and love dogs and the food/beer are great.

30+ years ago, my favourite TV show was Cheers, ‘where everybody knows your name’ (it’s still my second fave) The Beacon has let me live my dream, because when I (and my family) walk in, they (mostly everybody) knows my name and always know what my usual pint is. Even the chef! - although he calls me ‘Peroni’ which is the best of both worlds. (He calls my wife ‘Madri’ which is also very accurate) It’s always a great, friendly welcome and the management and staff have all built an atmosphere where everyone (and their dog) are welcome. Bar none, it’s the best pub in the area. (No pun intended) I go at least once a week and always look forward to my next visit. Cheers!

We visited on a Friday night and even though it was very very busy, we had the best service and didn’t wait long for any courses and all the food was delicious - in specific the chicken wings, onion fries and the chicken tikka. We loved it !!

Lovely pub, have always gone with my family and have never been disappointed Always feel welcome and the food is great! So nice to be able to bring our dog in now too

As always, in all the times I have eaten there with family members the Beacon has always given good food and a service level second to none. I cannot recommend this pub highly enough.

Really great food, atmosphere and service. Only had food and coffee but brilliant value for money. Super happy ☺️☺️

I had the set daytime 2 course meal and was very average, don't expect too much better buying off main menu. Coffee was also very milky. The staff are lovely, just a pity about the very out of freezer average food. No dressing even a touch of salad would have helped with the presentation.

Service was great, food delivered quickly. Drinks were fine and reasonably priced. I found the majority of the menu options to be high calorie.

Used to come here in the 90s as a kid. Loved the corn beef pie. Came back 4 years ago and it was good. Came yesterday and it was fab. Good food, great service and atmosphere.

Sunday Lunch. Despite being quite busy, the Staff were very friendly and welcoming. They even found us a dog friendly table, as we decided at short notice to take the dog. Nice relaxing atmosphere, waitresses were very attentive and the food was delicious. There is plenty of choices on the menu, and we will definitely be back to try some of these other dishes. I highly recommend The Beacon.

Great place love the burning fires

A very warm welcome as we came into the pub as always. The staff are very friendly and the food is lovely. I would highly recommend this cosy pub.

On entering The Beacon, I was greeted warmly by the staff. The lad that served me was very friendly and engaged in conversation. Had a lovely drink and noticed all of the staff were constantly busy serving food and being very pleasant with other customers. Manageress came across and warmly welcomed us. Lovely pub and lovely experience.

Limited vegetarian options, my haddock and chips, had a small portion of chips, and not very warm. Also, despite trying to attract staff attention, empty plates on our table for over 30 minutes.

Most unfriendly pub in the North East. Bunch of stiffs.

it was nice but never heard a chicken leg as being a half roast chicken .it says on the duo half roast chicken but its not ,its a chicken leg

A well-run friendly pub with a decent menu, and excellent real-ales. (The pints of ale are often quite short-measured, but the staff will always ‘top up’ with good grace when requested).

Only had wine but it was a fair price and cold

Great pub. The quiz is always fun on the Sunday night. Good food and booze. The calamari is top tier. They sometimes offer free drinks on the app too so it's well worth getting. Would recommend going.

Great staff and atmosphere would highly recommend

The pub is nice, service is friendly and beer is fine/ok (although selection is average) BUT the food is shockingly bad (I wouldn’t even give it 1-star: everything seemed reheated or ready meal-based). Called here mid-Dec about 4pm.

Great service. 4 people for dinner. 2 meals excellent 2 meals average. Good value though.

We had the festive lunch , turkey with all the trimmings, thoroughly delicious food , and a lovely sweet for afters, enjoyed by all . Will be back, lovely atmosphere.

We had Sunday lunch (both had Sunday Duo which was chicken and gammon) which was mediocre. My gammon was more a fatty piece of bacon, the Yorkshire puds were not homemade, clearly frozen ones heated up and the chicken was dry. The worst part however were the sullen staff. The lady that initially served us drinks at the bar didn't crack a smile and ignored us when we said we had a table booked, she just walked off. The one who took our payment at the end didn't even thank me or say goodbye, took payment and turned away, incredibly rude. The only staff member who was pleasant was a young lad. We won't be back. To answer the manager's question, it was 4pm, but can't recall the table number.

Lovely staff and atmosphere. We stayed longer than we thought we would. Everything was great except the steak was gristly.

The staff were friendly and efficient and the food was delicious,2 of us had the sea bass which was beautifully presented and the fish was so fresh& my Uncle.had the shepherd's pie which he said was very tasty.Deserts.and coffee were all lovely and pub was warm with a.roaring log fire which all added to the atmosphere, would highly recommend, thank-you to the staff for a great visit

The reason that the Beacon gets 3 stars is simply because I called in for a quick pint. It appears to be a food led pub but does have a number of local drinkers. None of these people give the pub an edge. It seems clean, staff are polite but could be slightly quicker in their service. If I was to stay longer I'm pretty sure that the score would be higher.

Great value for money. Really enjoyed the Belgian waffles. Desserts came out at different times - had to wait about 20mins for waffles, but the staff seemed to be rushed off their feet.

Food was not up the usual standard with the gammon being small portion and rather fatty

It's the value with 40% off Booking that made this visit even better. We like the layout, choice and service and staff though and are regular visitors all the time
