Horrible food. Chips tasteless. One of the worst we've ever tasted. Fish was kinda all right but I was expecting more. Obviously they live off tourists who buy the stuff and never come back.

Brilliant friendly staff. Exellent food. Strongly recommend soup of the day. Had two different varieties and both spot on

Takeaway fish and chips were worse than very poor……disgusting! The staff scammed us by charging us 15% gratuity after telling us the price…..got the receipt to prove it. Watch out tourists/visitors to St Ives, this takeaway is stealing from you. These comments apply to the takeaway section, I did not visit the upstairs restaurant.

Beautiful meal with the family this afternoon, food with a good view. Couldn't of asked for more. Staff lovely and very helpful. Kids were amazed by views from restaurant throughout. We had a fantastic time and will be back on our next visit. Thank you all for making the experience so special and welcoming 🙂

Excellent harbourside restaurant, cosy and welcoming, with a lovely atmosphere. Food choice was great, local and fresh options, each paired with a thoughtful wine selection. Quality of the food was great too, well presented and delivered by caring and friendly staff. Great for a date night or a family feast, and anything in between.

Only in St. Ives 5 nights and had dinner here 3 times. Beautiful food, would love to get the cajun vegetable with chicken recipe, had it twice ☺️

We loved this hidden little gem. Service great and the fish we had was perfect. We also have a little dog which they accommodated with no concerns. Great sea views from the tables by the windows.

Very good experience, we have been there twice during our stay and tried different dishes and all of them were absolutely delicious. Nice atmosphere and both of the ladies serving us were lovely.

What a warm welcome on a squally afternoon. We brought a barky, boisterous, young dog who was greeted with a great deal of patience - really was dog friendly, and because of that, he settled down. We enjoyed a rich creamy chowder and a generous portions of scallops. Service was attentive but we were also encouraged to relax and enjoy the sea views.Great food, great prices, great view, great welcome.

Picked up a takeaway of cod and chips with mushy peas from the beach restaurant in St Ives, hoping for a classic seaside treat. Unfortunately, it missed the mark. The chips tasted like they were frozen, and the fish was overly chewy and greasy. For a place right on the seafront, you’d expect better quality. If you’re looking for tasty fish and chips to enjoy by the sea, I’d recommend trying somewhere else.

Frozen food on a sea front. Extortionate prices for greasy, tasteless food. Old guy working there was really rude to the young cashier because she’d made a mistake and belittled her in front of customers. How this place has 4.4 stars I’ll never know. Not exaggerating when I say this is the worst chippy I’ve EVER had. Left me feeling sick and half of it in the bin after £60

Lovely restaurant. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive and were very accommodating to our two young children. The fish and chips were delicious and the views stunning. A fantastic experience all round! Highly recommended!

£27 for two SMALL cold cod & SMALL cold chips. Seemed to be frozen chips, thick steak chips rather than proper fish and chip shop chips. Batter was chewy and very greasy. Fish was grey. Would not recommend, even the seagulls were uninterested in the two portions of chips we left behind on the table.

We have been looking forward to going back to this lovely restaurant since last year. We have told everyone about the fish chowder, it didn't disappoint it was just as delicious as our last visit. I'm afraid I did not like my haddock chips and curry sauce. The batter was soggy, the chips are very very thick. The are definitely the reformed frozen variety. The trouble with those are, if they are not cooked for the correct amount of time you get a very cold hard centre. Sadly the city sauce couldn't save it as it tasted watery. I'm really sorry. I don't even think it's because the staff were young or inexperienced either, as they had great customer service. The food was just a bitter disappointment

We ate here whilst visiting St Ives, which was, in all honesty, unplanned. We did plan on eating at the nearby Thai restaurant, but with it being a Friday night, it was far too busy. After a bit of research we decided to eat here and glad we did as the food and service were both great and reasonably priced.

Visit this place on your way around Cornwall, and our experience was okay. The food was good, but there is room for improvement. The fish and chips let us down. The fish was small for the price, and the chips were very greasy and of poor quality. The mussels were good. The coffee was well made. The only very good thing about this place is the customer service. They were very nice and hardworking. Probably would not return. At a restaurant literally next to the sea, we expect more from the seafood quality. Dog friendly. #travelwithtentbox

One of our 'go to' restaurants in St.Ives now. All freshly cooked, delicious meals. They are able to sympathetically accommodate my mother's various dietary restrictions.

Some of the best chips in the country

Enjoyed a superb Sunday Roast chicken lunch here with all of the trimmings including Yorkshire pudding, and veggies. The two ladies serving were fabulous ….very friendly and efficient. I would hurry back here on next visit to St Ive’s a classy establishment .

Horrible floury frozen chips, not fresh

If you've been searching for the freshest sea food in town then your search is over my friend. Enjoy the delicious fish and chips along with some soul soothing Clam Chowder which is their house specialty. Shabby likes this place so go check it out cause SHABBY SAID SO!!!

Tourist trap!! We had 10.50 cod which was small and 3.50 chips. The cod is fish farmed, non flakey grey type (captain birdseye special), Completely Tasteless and looks very unappealing. Chips were rubbish also. Think weatherspoons chips but thicker. They obviously couldn't care less and are there to rip off anyone within the vicinity. Avoid at all costs.

Fish and chips at the seaside are a national dish. Fish was nice, but the chips were oven chips.

This place does not deserve a 1 star, no lesser options, my husband and I had cod and chips twice, the fish was grey (and we are at the seaside) and the chips were frozen chunky chips. (And we are at the seaside) cost £27 odd, I don't mind paying for nice food but this food was shocking. At least Dick Turpin wore a mask!

So lucky to be able to celebrate my wifes birthday with such amazing seafood! I think we got the last table booking of the night, but so worth it. The beach chowder is rich opulent and worth the hype. If you are in St Ives book a table!

We came here for my son's 10th birthday last year and we are on holiday here in St Ives again this year and my son asked if he could have his birthday meal here again. I booked the table a few weeks ago and we had a lovely meal here again yesterday.

This has to be the worst takeaway fish and chips I have ever tasted. The batter was soggy and the fish was grey. This place is an absolute disgrace to be selling food in such a prime location. I am only commenting on the takeaway and would certainly expect much better quality fish on the coast. Just wasted £27, I feel cross that we have given these people our hard earned money.

I get to go to loads of fancy restaurants with my work, but each time I come to St Ives, this is one of the best places to eat fresh fish. Simple fresh food with a choice of sauce, done well, Good harbour views, casual vibe, excellent fish and seafood dishes with great service, very friendly, walk-ins available

Not good. The takeaway cod was grey and dry. The batter had no crunch. I'm giving a star for the chips which were nicely cut, but £28 should get you 2 decent pieces of fish. It came out of the warmup shelf so who knows how long it had been sitting there.

Arrived at 20:25 with my black partner and was told that the only food available was what was seen in the window. We accepted this however at 20:52 a white family came in and placed a big order of food that wasn't displayed in the window and they were catered to. The only difference was that my partner was black whereas the family was white. They arrived around 30 mins after and still got that privilege handed to them. Disgusting, never coming back here again. Avoid if you have self respect

From start to finish a great evening. We didn't book a table, took a chance to get an early dinner around 6.30pm. What a fantastic team of ladies serving on 22nd July. We were allocated a window seat to use for an hour, as they had diners booked for it later. We were informed of the non availabilty of certain things and after promptly took our order. A starter to share, a generous portion of sesame chicken bites in soy sauce, simple and delicious. Fish and chips (cod) and seabream with Asian salad. The team 'muck' in sweeping sand away from previous customers with the minimum of fuss. This establishment certainly has got the right 'formula' of friendliness and professionalism. We absolutely felt genuinely welcome. We aren't big spenders but that didn't matter at all, everyone is treated the same. Thanks to front of house and the kitchen staff alike. Well done ! !

Lovely atmosphere cocktails to die for

A friend said I must eat here if I visited St Ives and have the Chowder and Sea Bass. The Chowder was remarkable the Bass less so but still enjoyable. The staff and service was absolutely first class. As a solo traveller I was amazed that I was given a table for two in the window overlooking the harbour which made the evening memorable. Not cheap but I wouldn’t class it as pricey. You only get what you pay for. Recommend.

Thank you to Emma, Jess and Holly for a very enjoyable evening when we booked for dinner with our well behaved puppy, Bluey, last Friday. The food was delicious and the service by Emma and Jess was exemplary. The whole team are super friendly, professional and very welcoming. We will be back!

Just had the most awful fish and chips from this place fish was dry like cardboard chips tasted and look like they been re heated 25 quid for this slop 2 pieces of gold fish and rotten chips serve this at that price in seaside towns in Norfolk you would be lynched been coming to Cornwall for nearly 10 years and this is definitely the worse fish and chips I’ve ever had avoid like the plague

Order 2 small cod and chips they cost £27.50, the chips were over done oven chips fried. The fish tasted really bad, it tasted like fish smells. What a rip off

Beautiful harbour views, good fish dishes, staff really nice.

The food here was absolutely amazing. When we arrived the staff were really friendly and helpful. However once we finished our meal we had to wait 30 minutes to get our bill. Which I had to go and ask for. No attempt was made to clear our table either. There was also no attempt for them to help settle out bill. We had to go up and pay. Would definitely eat here again as the food was good. Although the kids burger was a little peppery.

This was our first visit to the Beach restaurant, after many years of visiting St Ives, and the first thing we both said how beautiful it looked. We had a window seat looking out over st Ives harbour, the service was second to none, very welcoming and very attentive. The food was top class, thanks to all at the Beach Restaurant 👌

We were the first people in for the day but by the time we left it was already full, I was not surprised why. We had the Trio of Fish from the specials along with the Fish Chowder. Both were both amazing, large portions & obviously fresh! 👏👏👏

We visited twice during the past fortnight.Once as a party of 2 and once as a party of 5 adults and one baby. Our waitress(who had been there for 23 years) was welcoming and friendly.A lovely person. The food was great.My mackerel pâté starter was to die for.My crispy bream on my first visit was lovely.My mussels on my second visit delicious. The rest of the party all found the food to be of a high standard.My son in law in party loved his lemon sole.My daughter loved her sea bass.The fish and chips were good. Thank you for making us so welcome. The views over St Ives harbour from our window table were amazing. We will definitely be back.

Friendly staff, excellent food.

A casual setting with a great view of the water, but it's the fresh seafood that shines. We had the whole sole with garlic and herb butter and the whole brim with tamarind sauce as mains. Both were just stunning, simple, fresh and delicious. The fresh oysters for entrees were the best we've had so far on our uk trip and we love our oysters. Thanks team for making our St Ives stay also love up to our food goals!

Friendly staff, great food. Chowder was top, crispy bream was great. However chips could be crispier and was under-seasoned.

I had a special of hake on a bed of parmesan smashed potatoes, with grilled asparagus. It was fabulous and the service was great,so friendly.

Chips was not as good as they was so cold to the touch, the gravy was watery, definitely will not be going there again 🤢🤢🤮🤮, I couldn’t eat it and was sick after having a bite.

We have had two meals here, chowder and modules which were first class. It is a comfortable place with very friendly staff I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Wish I’d read other reviews before going in. The worst attempt at fish and chips - even more of a disgrace that it’s prime location by the harbour. Got the food home, opened it and felt sick after just trying a bit of the fish batter. Disgusting. Waste of £20.

Great venue with many fish options on their menu. The restaurant is on the first floor providing diners with a lovely view across St Ives Harbour.

Dreadful fish and chips. As a proud Northern boy I know good fish and chips. I've lived by the coast all my life and sampled as many fish and chips shops as possible. The price is as expected but the chips, an atrocious attempt. So pretentious, basically ended up like thick cut oven chips. Nothing that you'd ever see coming from a traditional chippy. One thing I do not understand, the menu, why is "Cornish fish and chips" haddock but normal is cod? Why is haddock traditional to Cornwall? Clever marketing to pass off cheaper fish or just treating customers like fools? The traditional Cornish fish being pilchards after all? There is another chippy by the RNLI, give that a go, it'll surely be better than this place. Incredibly disappointed.

Amazing vegetarian roast dinner! Highly recommend booking in advance

My husband and I selected this restaurant because they offered a good variety of fish. Firstly, the service was exceptional. Our waitress was welcoming, very friendly and attentive, explaining the menu in detail. We opted for the Hake special, and took advantage of the offer on wine which was a £20 “Wine of the Week”. We had calamari as a starter - which was delicious. Not rubbery- just right. My only niggle was the aioli was more mayo than an aioli - not a big deal. The Hake was served on a bed of smashed potatoes and asparagus which was cooked perfectly. The wine was perfect for our option. The restaurant got quite busy, and our wonderful waitress managed all tables efficiently with a constant smile. Not only was the atmosphere and food wonderful but the view over the harbour made this a lovely experience.

Great food, great customer service We went to the Beach restaurant for my (already grown up) daughter's birthday. The view from the restaurant is beautiful. Immediately, we were warmly greeted by Emma who very kindly understood that one of us (we were 7 in the group) was still looking for parking and she took our drink orders and some appetisers. We had mackerel pate and mussels to start, both of which were excellent, especially the mackerel pate. Emma also took note that our grandson would probably want his food earlier and she made sure it was ordered straight away. Our grandson ate his huge burger! After we ordered our mains. Emma discreetly held back on serving the mains until our heroic car driver had successfully found parking and was finally with us in the restaurant. At dessert time, Emma also placed a lit birthday candle on one of the desserts for my daughter to blow out ( my daughter did not order her own dessert) and they even played the happy birthday song from the bar area so that we could all sing along. The food was excellent. It is a seafood restaurant. I had the lemon sole which did not disappoint. Chips were lovely and chunky. Others had hake and other sea food. All reported they were very happy. The food was definitely good value for money. We will definitely come back!
