Dinner was delicious! Best fish and chips I've had in a long time. Freshly prepared, thoughtful touches like smashed peas, roast lemon and homemade tartare sauce elevated this dish. Lovely service from Charlie our waitress. Very unexpected.

I felt sorry for this family run motel restaurant The staff were lovely. The restaurant is looking a little tired and sadly, on the day we visited, they had replaced their website menu with meals that appear to me microwavable. The burger was cooked dry and presented in a cold bun. The Fettuccine was inedible. Perhaps on this occasion they did not have a trained chef. On the positive, the waitress did her utmost to make amends and we were not charged for my wife’s food. It was a shame; the advertised menu looked lovely and has received great reviews.

Ok, good, what’s wrong with the bathroom sink? Too small, English standard? You can’t drink from the sink, wash the mouth is impossible

First visit to this establishment and will definitely be my last the roast was a piss poor meal I could of cooked better being blind folded group of 30 people and not one didn't complain about something on their place if not all told a member of staff which first blame it on the gravy wasn't anything on the plate I would of fed my dog all I ate was a piece of turkey which was the dearest piece of meat i would ever buy in my life all they could offer was 10 per cent of are meal which lead to us still paying 28 pounds for something we didnt eat i guess the staff needed to paying please don't waste your money I had to work three hours for a slice of turkey shocking

Our son and daughter in law had their wedding reception here in October. Just perfect and we all loved it all from start to finish. Thank you to Emma and Hallie the events co-ordinators and all the staff involved in the preparations for all their hard work beforehand and on the day itself. We couldn't have asked for a better venue. The staff, food, decorations and everything associated with the event were all fabulous. One guest told me it was the best wedding they've ever been to and we have to agree. Thank you again, you all did an amazing job.

Fantastic, scrumptious, well priced food. It's reputation goes before it. Highly recommend a visit.

We had a nice roast dinner with friends. Gets busy Sunday afternoon.

We went for Sunday lunch, very slow service, staff walking around with radios in there ears Really.. The beef was dry even the chef had problems carvery it, stuffing was like dough, just fresh herbs put into veg put not stripped left whole so kept eating small twigs. I use to make the desserts there now very poor showing 4 desserts poached pears from the 90s ice cream served in the cardboard tubs. Think I will keep going to the Shire Inn.

Just a guest in the restaurant and Surprisingly disapointed tonight. I visit the restaurant as a treat for my self every 3 to 5 weeks, so not a regular. This evening the carvery did not diapoint, lovely as usual, it always is, but I did have to sort out my own cutlery and napkins. But then nothing. I would have liked a desert and a coffee but the service staff were absent. So after 30 minutes of patiently waiting, hoping for some service, I got up, paid and left, and I doubt anyone noticed. I'm sure this evening was just a disapointing one off. I hope when I return next time things will be back to normal. I do hope so because this evening has left me feeling quite sad

I couldn't say about the rooms we came for the food. It's always been a favourite place over the years. It's a shame we won't go back anymore, the staff were amazing as ever but the food is now small and pretentious and lagged in salt. The Mrs had a carvery and everything tasted of Rosemary (hint to chef....there are other flavours). I had the burger.....the size of a Mc Donald's double cheese but really tasty.....definitely not worth the money though I went Mc Donald's on the way home because I left hungry. Go back to the old ways, decent honest food where I didn't need to ask what half the menu was due to the crazy wording. No wonder the Shire is always full. They took your customers!

We had a beautiful dinner here for my husbands birthday tonight and they made it one to remember. The chicken Saltimbocca was exquisite. Passionfuit cheesecake was a perfect finish. Our 2 girls are fussy eaters but they accommodated them, no problem. We regularly eat here when in town and the carvery never fails to hit the spot either. Staff were friendly and welcoming even though they were obviously busy. Taking the time to talk and make us feel welcome. Much better than others in the area. 100% will go back. Fantastic value for money. Cannot recommend this place enough. A real hidden gem.

Tried your fish bar today it was excellent lovely light batter on fish chips light and crispy outside soft inside have already recommend it

Really good meal. We booked it as part of the Xtreme VR and we thoroughly enjoyed the food . Chef was very generous to fry fish and chips in vegetable oil rather than beef dripping. Service is top notch and food quality is 5 star. Highly recommend it.

We went out for our daughters 21st birthday. The food and the service was great. Living locally, we visit occasionally and are never disappointed.

Literally one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in, I have been put in room 9 for 3 nights which is directly above the restaurant kitchen and the noise is absolutely unbelievable, from 6pm to 11pm you cannot relax or sleep as the racket from the kitchen is unbearable, I slept in my work vehicle in the car park last night, came back into the hotel at 2am, then woken up by the kitchen noise at 7am, I am shattered and fatigued and cannot go to work today do the absolutely ridiculous levels of noise in this hotel. I will never go near this hotel again

Lovely food. Was very awkward when we walked in, no music, no other customers but that faded with time as a couple others came in. I ordered a halloumi burger and they were out of stock even though we were there first customers which was a little strange but they adapted still and made a yummy goats cheese version. They adapt well to allergies (gf etc) and staff are friendly but few. Food tastes homemade and the meat tastes fresh, not a huge range of options, but what they have is lovely. My partner said that his beef burger was the best he has ever had!!! Bathrooms have very sticky floors, price is a little on the expensive side but you can’t fault the quality. Would recommend!

I had my 80th birthday celebration over a weekend culminating with a superb dinner for 35 people on the Saturday night. We booked every room the hotel had and they also accommodated 4 motorhomes in their car park. We were all treated extremely well, the owners and staff were very accommodating, friendly and provided a first class service. A special mention to the chef, the food was first class and was all delivered at the right time and it was hot!! Most of my guests said they would consider staying there again, we certainly will. Highly recommended..

No room just had a carvery. Service and food were excellent and at a very fair price. Will go back again before our holiday is over. Sue and Geoff

Great food, wonderful staff and brilliant service

Didn't have a room so not rated. Meal only in restaurant. Carvery, desert and coffee was excellent. All at right Money I'd say. Parking is so easy as there is plenty of space.

Enjoyable food. Good atmosphere.

Booked in for a Sunday roast. Staff were friendly and polite. I fancied a bit of roast pork and crackling when booking, unfortunately at the carvery there was no roast pork on the menu, garden peas instead of parsnips, Yorkshire puddings which were inedible, including the gluten free variant, way too stodgy, cauliflower not fully cooked. All in all carvery not recommended.

A lovely restaurant for a carvery in fact they also do other meals too. Worth a visit to this establishment. You won't go away disappointed.

Had table booked for Easter Sunday Carvery. easy booking, outstanding food and excellent service. Staff very welcoming and friendly.Will definatley re-visit
