Excellent choice of food and very clean , staff very helpful at all times , booking your slot for meals is a great idea as saves to many people at the same time

The Angus / Bay hotel restaurant looked lovely but looks can be deceiving when it comes to food, I don’t normally complain about food but this was bowff…First and last visit for us!! No people in the restaurant, should have been the first warning, no bottled water, should have been the 2nd warning! Starter of micro Meatballs, they should have been called golf balls with sauce and wife had a Mozzarella stick..it was a stick cut in to 4 with a meagre salad and I’m not talking some fancy presented plate l either, asked for some sauce….nope, none to accompany the mozzarella stick starter! Mains were not much better, Macaroni with packet sauce and a flame grilled gammon which was really boiled in a pan, the plate was swimming in water from the cheap gammon, the wife’s peas were nice though. £3.55 for a coleslaw side, not worth paying the extra TBH and then to top it off, felt sick even though I did not eat much! Do not go here and avoid like the Corona virus, hopefully I save someone from the runs!!

We had a lovely meal in the Bay Tree Restaurant. Lots of choice on the menu, the service was really good and staff were friendly. All in all a really good place to have dinner.

Food is diabolical not interested in constructive criticism,cream of leek soup bland and not heated through correctly ,if you like lipstick on your glass during Covid this is for you ! Menu says macaroni cheese with cheddar and mozzarella.no mozzarella but there is your body weight in cheddar on the plate which makes up for that both portions half left ,vile! Manager says no other remarks made regarding food but he needs to have a look on here ,overheard people at other table saying breakfast was a joke and terrible role on tommorow and Saturday morning.needless to say we are eating out tommorow if you had paid for this you would be irate.im no toff when it comes to food but I cook and well and this is just garbage to say the least ! Best bit was can of diet irn bru ! Here’s some reviews below I find interesting if anyone from hotel bothers to look ? Suppose if you close your eyes you don’t see the explosions going off around you !

Breakfast very good, served unusually but due to covid- no complaints. Dinner was basic, pub grub and not a chef cooking fresh, but exactly what you would expect for price. Well cooked, presented and tasty so no issues at all.

My wife and I had lunch with my parents here today. We enjoyed the meal but I wouldn't say it was anything special. The food was alright however the service was a bit on the slow side. This might have been due to the fact that it was the first day for one of the waiters. Overall it was decent enough but not outstanding.

We had afternoon tea, dinner and breakfast here, food was excellent although some more kids choices would be appreciated- chicken nuggets, mac & cheese or hotdog and that’s it. Dinner was really good, fish and gammon steak were thoroughly enjoyed and plenty of it. Breakfast was a typical take what you want set up but plenty to eat and regularly topped up. Only downside was you had to go yourself to the bar if you wanted any drinks and if you wanted to charge them to your room you need to get this when you check in.

Family and I were visiting Blairgowrie. After a long 2 hour walk stopped here for some drinks and a bite to eat. Service was good, although my drink was served in a glass that smelt of old ale or Guinness. Glass was changed quickly and waitress was quick to apologise and resolve. Nice atmosphere inside. Food was average. Kids menu not as described. The desert had no mini marshmallows or whipped cream. Just a cone. Overall wouldn't recommend for food, but nice for a drink.

Had a very nice meal with the choice of two menu's Only thing is that we could mix and match the menu's you could only order from the one menu for your whole meal.

Apart from Evening meals - I also had excellent Afternoon Tea and A lunch special- soup couple of sandwiches and pot of tea- Nice

Wir haben während unseres Aufenthalts im Angus Hotel hier gegessen, da wir bei unserer ersten Wahl hätten warten müssen. Im Nachhinein hätten wir das besser getan. Als wir in den Bar/Restaurantbereich gekommen sind, stand dort ein Schild, dass man warten soll, bis man einen Platz zugewiesen bekommen, wie das in Schottland üblich ist. Leider haben sich die beiden Mitarbeiter an der Bar nicht für uns interessiert und sonst war niemand zu sehen. Als wir jemanden angesprochen haben, wurden wir nach einer Reservierung gefragt, die wir nicht hatten. Ohne auch nur nachzuschauen, ob irgendwo vielleicht doch noch was frei ist, wurde uns gesagt, wir müssten im Barbereich Platz nehmen und dann am Thresen bestellen (Pub-Niveau). Das wäre grundsätzlich auch nicht schlecht gewesen, wenn man unsere Bestellung denn dann auch entgegengenommen hätte. Wieder mussten wir lange warten, bis sich jemand für uns interessiert hat, der Mitarbeiter hat sich lieber mit einem anderen Gast unterhalten! Seine Kollegin hat sich dann erbarmt und unsere Bestellung entgegengenommen. Auf einen Extrawunsch (keinen Coleslaw beim Burger) hat sie mit Unverständnis reagiert und in schnellem Englisch mit schottischen Akzent etwas völlig Unverständliches vor sich hingeredet. Man beachte: Sie hatte bei unserer Bestellung ja schon gemerkt, dass wir keine Muttersprachler sind. Auf die Frage, ob sie es bitte wiederholen könne, hat sie die Augen verdreht und genauso schnell und unverständlich ihren Satz wiederholt. Wir wissen bis heute nicht, was sie gesagt hat. Kurz darauf wurde uns lieblos Besteck auf den Tisch gelegt, nicht einmal neben uns, sondern einfach irgendwo verteilt. Das Essen kam nach kurzer Wartezeit und hat nach nichts geschmeckt. Wir hatten beide Burger, einmal Beef, einmal Hähnchen. Geschmecklich hat man keinen Unterschied gemerkt. Die Pommes waren labbrig und ebenfalls geschmacksneutral. Coleslaw war natürlich entgegen unserer Bestellung auf dem Teller. Für das Bezahlen an der Bar mussten wir wieder warten, weil die Mitarbeiter sich unterhalten haben. Dann war der Mitarbeiter verwirrt, hat aber nicht gesagt warum. Kurz darauf fragte er, ob wir zu zweit wirklich drei Getränke gehabt hätten. Was ist daran bitte irritierend??? Die Preise für das Essen waren dann noch total überteuert, wenn man bedenkt, dass es nach nichts geschmeckt hat. Sorry, aber wir hätten sicherlich kein Problem damit gehabt, keinen Platz mehr im Restaurant zu bekommen, wenn man uns nicht das Gefühl gegeben hätte, wir wären nicht willkommen und das Essen geschmeckt hätte. Sterne-Niveau muss es ja nicht haben, aber der Service muss stimmen. Das tut er hier definitiv nicht!

in het Angus Hotel in het centrum van Blairgowrie onvriendelijke dame in het restaurant, ondanks reservatie konden we niet in het restaurant eten en moesten we naar de pub. De pub was onderbemand en er heerste chaos. Lange wachttijd voor eten dat bovendien niet lekker, niet vers en niet verzorgd was. Door het personeelstekort zijn we zelf bestek gaan zoeken. We zagen andere mensen die na een uur wachten op hun dessert de zaak verlieten. En dat op een maandag... dringend nood aan een betere organisatie en wat meer professionaliteit!

Lots of local eatery’s but this is an excellent place for a good meal a varied menu to suit all tastes

Visited for dinner with my parents. Menu didn’t have much variety. My parents had haddock and chips. Chips were not bad. One plate had a much bigger piece of haddock than the other plate, which is not good to see. Other than that , the fish was mostly batter, giving the impression of being bigger than they actually were, notwithstanding the discrepancy in size between the plates. Fish was ok to taste but nothing special and my dad had to give my mum a piece of his, since her piece was so small. As for my burger. A definite thumbs down. Burger was small, dry and over cooked. Bun was tough and chewy. Also there was too much going on in the bun with a slice of beef tomato, some fried mozzarella and salad as well as the burger, which I couldn’t finish. Definitely won’t be returning to this restaurant.

The Dinner was well served and was an adequate portion for most, the breakfasts were superb with full Scottish and continental available along with copious amounts of tea and coffee

Dinner was good, service was slow. We sat for some time between courses, and had to ask for the table to be cleared, when the waitress arrived with coffee.

This restaurant is within the homeland garden centre and pet shop. The staff were very friendly and obliging. The food is first class! We stayed on holiday in Westport and ate here a few times during the week. Highly recommended and great for kids too!

food was tasteless and bland, breakfast was poor but had a good selection if you liked tinned food, give it a miss

Food very average ,the hotel had coach parties staying and food gave impression of mass catering. Breakfast was buffet and a mixed bag.

Bastante pobre para ser perfectamente honesto. . . "4 - queso al horno macarrones". . Lo que significa que para contener mayores cheddar, mozzarella, emmental y queso parmesano. . En un empuje diría que contenía estándar Red Leicester. . Muy sosa!. Muy decepcionado!

Had lunch there today my sister had the fish which she enjoyed my husband had the steak pie which he enjoyed then it went downhill my mac cheese was bland the hog dog was terrible and the burger was dry only saw a member of staff on ordering nobody came near to see if everything was alright will not be going back

Llevé a mi esposa a este restaurante en Angus. Tuve la maltratada eglefino que consistía de dos grandes Haddocks en pila de patatas fritas plato de guisantes y tazón de Tartar de salsa. Mi esposa tenía los cazadores de pollo que contenía 2 pechugas de pollo en salsa y queso cubierto con plato de patatas fritas

Stayed at hotel for two nights and had evening meal here last night (17/06/16)-meal was excellent and was plentiful.I had the Hunters Chicken which filled me to bursting point!

Food very nice and reasonablely priced, service from staff very good and friendly and helpful, would recommend

Used the Bay Tree as part of my hotel stay. The Menu was good with a fair selection. The Table d'hôte menu was a good price with a reasonable selection. The Wine list is ok with a fair selection of nice wines. Average hotel wine prices. The Staff were a bit rushed and seemed flustered. But they did their job well enough. The breakfast was MUCH Better. Staff were quick and efficient. The buffet was great. HAVE THE HAGGIS !!!! It is awesome.

Well thought menu,good selection of various dishes at reasonable prices,steak pie highly recommended, comfortable surroundings especially for older patrons. Service efficient but not hurried. Nice bar area,good selection of drinks

Loads of great scottish food at reasonable prices highly recommend the Steak Pie, Bread and Butter Pudding, Sticky Toffee Pudding, Chicken with leak and cheese Sauce.

Great choice of hot foods in relaxing atmosphere. Variety on Menu was astonishing.Great service from all the Staff One not to miss if in Blairgowrie

Visited this restaurant with my son for early Mother's day treat. Ordered fish n chips and baked potato with chilli beef and sour cream. Positive start when fish n chips arrived as it looked lovely and tasted good (according to my son). However the baked potato was served sailing in liquid with a few bits of mince and onion through it, a dollop of sour cream and salad. The 'chilli' had no flavour of chilli, no kidney beans and was grey colour! Fail to believe that any chef could send out a plate of food like that and should know that it is unpleasant to have salad sitting in gravy. Disappointed but didn't like to make a fuss as my student son had paid for it. We won t be back in a hurry which is a shame as it is such a lovely looking lounge.

great food from a set menu and an £8.50 supplement for the steak which was well worth it for the size , service was good but it was a Sunday night , bottle of house wine £15 / 18 not to bad .

Liked everything about it. Staff were very good and polite. Nothing was too much trouble. They were very helpful with buying tips, Eg buying large bottles of wine rather than small as it worked out cheaper.

A group of 8 of us visited here after a week's golfing holiday. It's unlicensed which meant we didn't have a large bar bill. Food was brilliant, very tasty with a large selection on the menu.. Nan bread was lovely and freshly baked, all the curries were cooked to a good standard. Would certainly go again.

Visited the hotel for lunch and later for dinner. Friendly staff, prompt service and reasonably priced. Food was nice hence why we went back for dinner! Only visited fir food, did not stay in the hotel we were visiting nearby bridge of cally. Would definitely visit again if through there again.......".......................................

very good value for money, good base for a coach tour to stay. staff very friendly and gave good service. Food was nicely cooked and a decent choice. Room were clean and adequate , but our bathroom was ready for an update. we loved all the little extras provided by the hotel for us.

Went for meal. We were with parents. My wife and mum went up to order. They went outside for a second and while pout I went to order drinks. Straight away I was put off by the woman behind the bars attitude. Bit of a chip on the shoulder as if I was there to please her. They way she asked quesrions, the tone, was unpleasant. I asked for a wine, with complete disadain she asked what kind. I asked what they had, Merlot, Shiraz..straight away I said shiraz but how dare I interupt her. She was annoyed. Anyway she insisted on telling me the third option Syrah (which is as we know Shiraz). I was then asked "what size" . it was barked at me as if I am meant to know. Havong never been there before I asked what are the sizes, small or large. 175 or 250. I went small. Well medium because small is actually 125ml. But as I said it reads ok but it was her tone and manner which was the issue here. Awful. Made to feel like an annoyance.Anyway my mum and wife came back and apparently she was unpleasant with them. Without my saying a thing my wife said she really didsn't like the girl serving. Apparently she had an issue with my wife and mum ordering seperately. She turned to another girl amd sai "they're ordering sep-er-ate-ly" and made a funny face intimating, pain in 4rse thoughts. My wife, who would never say boo to a flea felt compelled to say "is there a problem with that?" Why shouild there be a problem. It can't be too unusual for two couiples to pay for their own meals seperately. If it is a problem then it is one of their making. I could understand it if it was a big group but this is two groups. Even so making an issue out of it and showing disdane for the customer isn't on and says a lot for the attituse to those who pay the wages.Incidentally make sure you get information on what is available. There is an express menue hidden on the side so no-one can see it.The restaurant itself was well decorated and nicely lit. There was a couple of kids running a mock but it was pleasant place to sit and eat. The food was nothong special. The usual pub grub you'd expect in any chain restaurant such as Weatherspoons. If a tad more expensibe than elsewhere. Not fine dining. Woupd have been okay but for that woman. The others seemed fine.

The dinner in this hotel was of a poorer standard than any hotel we have stayed in including cheaper ones. If we hadn't been told the starter was smoked mackerel terrine we wouldn't have known as there was a distinct lack of fish in it. The main course was roast topside of beef with herb dumpling except they ran out of herb dumplings and without asking if we minded substituted a chewy yorkshire pudding. The roast beef, even though it was cut very very thin was difficult to cut because it was so tough. The broccoli was soft in the middle but brown and crunchy on the outside as if it had been grilled. After giving up on a main course we opted for cheese and biscuits thinking this a safe choice but no it wasn't. This is the first time we have had brie which crumbled rather than oozed, there was a red cheese which tasted of absolutely nothing and a piece of blue stilton which had seen better days. When we told the manager how bad the meal was she told us their other menu had burgers on it!!The accommodation and leisure facilities in this hotel are lovely just be sure to eat elsewhere.
