Absolutely beautiful food. We came in on a Sunday, and was greeted by a lovely older lady who took us through and sat us down. As it was a Sunday, the carvery was on and not the main menu - however I don’t eat meat and my partner didn’t want to eat without me. They made us fish and chips upon request and were really lovely throughout the meal. Such a fabulous little place.

Not sure how The Bay Horse Inn got marked on my map, but we dropped in for dinner. Made a reservation and possibly a good move as it was a busy Friday evening. Locals dropping in and out, tractors stopping for a drink, ... most people seem to know each other. We came for dinner.. the menu had a few surprises for us. Two of us has the haggis, one had the pigeon. Not your average menu option in a small pub I'd say. All very good. My friend's pigeon was something she talked about for the next few days.

Popped in here whilst cycling in the North Tyne area. (I’m from the opposition, South Tynedale!) it’s a lovely pub, open all day from 12 which is a rarity round here in the small villages. It’s on the (not too busy) A68, has a lunchtime snack menu although not too cheap! No fire but it was warm. Only had one real beer, a blonde which wasn’t to my taste so I changed to Budvar which was well kept. It was very quiet but the lady on the bar was wonderfully chatty and enormously friendly. I’d have given 5* but for the paucity of cask beers and to some extent food prices.

Needs an overhaul as the decor is dated. It's well located but it's a little small too. Space is not utilised as well as it could be. Damaged tables and chairs. Drinks are affordable though and the foods not bad either, very good portions. It does appear to have a very "clicky" clientele though. I did feel like I was being watched...

Absolutely rotten. Got there to pick it up, was given a “free” garlic bread. Thought that was canny.. got home, could see why (in hope I wouldn’t leave this review) the pizza was burnt to a crisp, the garlic bread not much better and the chips were rotten! Funnily enough, the only decent part was said “free” garlic bread. If only you could give a “0 Star” review.

Hosted an 80th birthday here for twenty people. Food was amazing, staff were wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble & it all went like clockwork.

Our introduction to this country pub was to a spacious, comfortable, immaculately clean bedroom, with stunning views of the fells. Next dinner and cooking of Michelin quality. A highlight was the scallop with belly pork, a brilliant dish. Next morning breakfast, again flawless in every respect from the service to the produce. Any prospective dining pub owner/chef should come here to see how it's done.
