The Bawn Pantry in Armagh

My wife and I after this cafe being recommend to us visited today only to arrive to a full sitting at 12 noon. We were asked to sit in our car & await a call as soon as a table was vacant. Nine hours later no call but after a 20 minute wait we made the 2 mile journey to Groucho's in Richhill. Again our first visit to Groucho's but certainly not our last. So thank you Bawn Pantry you did a great job not being able to accommodate us or even the courtesy of a call as we had a wonderful meal in Grouchos. A 1 star as I am unable to give a no star review.

A small and very popular cafe in Hamiltonsbawn nr Armagh City. You always know a place will be good when it's busy with local people. Despite being rushed off their feet the food (home cooked) and attentiveness to customers was outstanding. My daughter has special dietary needs and I contacted them beforehand. Communication was excellent and they made a special apple pie just for my daughter. As it was her birthday she had a candle and "happy birthday" which absolutely made her day.

Food at Bawns is such good value like big portions and always really tasty. Had our cousin Faith's birthday party in July here and she just loved it when Molly baked her a fresh cake with her name on.

Visited for Breakfast with friends as we had heard good things, were slightly underwhelmed as although the staff were friendly and efficient, the menu was disappointing, although specials added a bit of variety, the portions were small, my bacon on the fry was cold, although the huge pot of tea and proper mug helped ease that pain, and on paying the bill, the scones pastries and sweet stuff looked good.However, what put us off was the total lack of COVID 19 precautions, with no social distancing, staff not wearing any face coverings at all, no shielding at till or counter, and the majority of customers not wearing any face coverings, and obviously not being challenged or questioned at all, not good in a country with the highest death rate in the British Isles, and the highest infection rate.

Delicious food. Plenty of choice particularly for vegetarians. Great service & friendly staff. I would definitely make the trip to Bawn Pantry

I visited the bawn pantry with my two teenagers. Everything was delicious. Service was spot on. Food came quickly and was presented beautifully. Large range of mains and desserts. The philly cheese steak sandwich was unreal. Definitely will be returning asap

We had lunch here due to the excellent reviews on Trip Advisor. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Lunch was very tasty and of a high quality. We will return when next in the area.

We ordered 4 take home meals tonight, and cannot recommend it highly enough. The setup is very simple: order in advance and give a time slot, then pay on collection. Food was ready when we arrived, and still piping hot when we got home. Portions are fairly massive and everything was delicious! Great value for money! We will tackle desserts tomorrow when we have some space for them! Thanks to James and the team! Looking forward to eating in your restaurant when you can open the doors, for good!

As a Friday night treat and a night off cooking, we ordered 3 adult meals and 2 kids meals for collection. I can thoroughly recommend the chicken and bacon stack: wow! Clean plates all round! So yummy! And the lemon meringue was amazing! Everything was piping hot, beautifully presented and really tasty. It is excellent value for money. We really enjoyed our meal and will definitely be ordering in the future. Thank you!

Do hope when yous reopen to the public that staff will all be wearing masks, as this was not the case before when I called in before lockdown. Was very shocked to see staff walking about taking orders, serving food with no masks on, this is not acceptable as waiters/ shop workers who are not behind screens have all been expected to wear masks for some time now, and yous don’t have any screens so please wear your masks. As this is why hospitality is suffering.

Just had the Friday night takeaway meal deal, delicious food, excellent service, would highly recommend!

Stopped by this morning for breakfast based on the reviews from trip advisor. Service was friendly and efficient even though it was very busy. Food included french toast and a scrambled egg with smoked salmon wrap. Very tasty, great quality and served hot. Generous portions all washed down with mugs of tea. People were waiting outside for tables, testament to a restaurant well deserving of being no. 1 in the Armagh area.

The best sausage rolls in the country!!! A great cycling pit stop. Very friendly service. Reasonably priced as well.

Visited for the first time on Saturday while visiting family. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Menu was excellent - I’m vegan and 10 year old daughter is vegetarian. Vegan option was delicious and my daughter was able to choose the salads she wanted with her lunch - lots of options - all freshly made and healthy! My sister had the steak sandwich which she said was delicious too! Would definitely go back and would highly recommend!

On the strength of friends and family recommendation we headed out to the Bawn Pantry for a spot of lunch .Despite being very busy we received a warm welcome from the owner James and a table swiftly found and cleared for us .I had the chicken and mushroom pie which had a lovely light buttery pastry .Yum!Mum and Dad had the soup and sandwich combination which both really enjoyed! Came here for one of the Christmas Party Nights and we had a brilliant night. From the atmosphere, to the food - it couldn’t be faulted. From we arrived we all really enjoyed ourselves, and the food was divine. Would definitely book it again.

We visited the Bawn Pantry as a group for one of the Christmas nights. Excellent friendly attentive service and we had the best Christmas dinner I have ever had out. It was delicious, veg and pigs in blankets cooked to perfection, turkey and ham was really flavoursome. We will be booking for this again!

As a party of six ladies we visited the Bawn Pantry last Saturday night for one of their Christmas party nights.We had an amazing night, food was excellent and ambience was perfect for Christmas. James and staff catered to our every need and were so attentive all evening. A super night

In the area and having heard of the place. Popped in for lunch. Sign on the door said close the door. Few people during my time choose to ignore it. No the fault of the staff. Some of the items on the menu were slightly different from the norm. Specials board also different they did have a Christmas theme. Food was good and well presented maybe a bit pricey.

Beautiful, tasty, good value fry up or you can have a Slimming World fry up or other breakfast ideas , morning coffee with scones are yummy too. Cakes are Devine as well

I came here with my GFs dad for a quick bite. The service was excellent and I found the food and coffee to be very tasty, can't fault anything.

Stopped of a couple of times when out on bike rides. They quickly knocked up a very tasty vegan meal and had oat milk for the coffee. Great waiting staff and great food.Highly recommended .

Visited the Bawn Pantry for lunch, with 2 friends on a Friday in October. It was busy and had a buzzy atmosphere. Had to wait for 5 minutes for a table to become available but the friendly staff let us sit by the entrance with a menu. The food was delicious, very generous portions and great quality. Make sure you leave room to sample the desserts, the lemon meringue pie was the best i've ever tasted!

Great food all day long, once you've been you will return again. Just off the beaten track but worthwhile hunting it out and visiting. Recommended.

Lovely place for lunch. So much choice on the menu. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is very clean. Very busy place it is no problem to the staff, Will be back without a doubt.

We went for lunch. The staff are very pleasant. Our lunch was good but my dessert was terrible. Our lunches were lovely, well cooked & lovely served. Couldn’t fault the lunches in anyway. I had Malteser cheesecake for dessert. The base was a quite solid & the top was thick, dry & cheesy like, not soft & light like it should be. The meals here all seemed to be of good quality & well priced. Unfortunately I don’t see the same high quality carried over to the desserts. Truthfully none of the desserts appealed to me but I chose the cheesecake but was disappointed. Will return but will stick to the lunches.

I've eaten at a fair few place in my time but none quite like this little gem. First of all when you walk in the decor and ambience of the place hits. Its really quite a special little place. To me customer service is a must have for any business and The Bawn Pantry has it in abundace. The owner, chef and waitress were so attentive and interested in you as customer you instantly became friends. The seating areas are so cumfortable and you could sit there for hours in real comfort. There is such a welcoming feel its one of those spots that you can go back to time and time again and get the same pleasure. Whether you're on you own, as a couple or a party of work collegues or friends, The Bawn pantry caters for all.

Great food great service it's not a big restaurant, though the staff deal with this really well. All round one of the best in the area

Amazing from start to finish, breakfast treat for my grandsons 6th birthday, he shall remember the fluffy pancakes forever, and having them with choc, cream and strawberries def made his day, plus birthday music with surprise treat, many thanks to James and the most amazing team ever,, girls you are fab , the menu is so wonderful you really are spoilt for choice,, thanks for adding to our family memory box x be back soon

If you haven't visited this restaurant/café yet, do yourself a favour. The food is consistently excellent, with a changing specials menu every day. The staff are friendly and helpful and the prices are brilliant for the quality of food you get. Definitely recommend.

Although situated in the small village of Hamilotonsbawn, this brilliant small cafe/restaurant packs a punch when it comes to variety. The customer service is excellent and matches the wide range of menus from breakfasts, coffees and sweet and a wonderful array of main meals, something for all tastes. The presentation befits that of a top quality restaurant and the standard of food is excellent. It is undeniably popular but if you’re prepared to wait then it is well worth it.

We called here yesterday as we were passing through ! The staff and food were simply amazing! We had a short wait of about 10 minutes for the table but it was Well worth the wait! James and his staff are so welcoming and friendly and the food was simply delicious! We will be making a point of calling again! Highly recommended!

Anytime we visit the bawn pantry it's like going into a friends house..we are always made very welcome..the staff always take time to ask how you are keeping..they remember if something has happened they remember and ask..the food is excellent and they are very accommodating where the grandchildren are concerned..it is the best thing that had ever come to Hamilton'sbawn and James and his staff go above and beyond to help you make at home and they even put an extra date on last year for Santa night to let us get all the family together..thanks again and please everyone go to the Bawn Pantry and l guarantee you'll go back..

Have eaten there on quite a few occasions. Roast dinner visits, coffee and cake visits and ordered some seasonal cupcakes and shortbread. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Looking forward to next visit. Smiles all round 😊

Having travelled 60 miles to visit family we decided to stop at the Bawn pantry for some lunch.. What a find. . Excellent service.. food well cooked and presented and full of flavour. Can't recommend it enough. Many thanks again from the family from Antrim.

Had a lovely brunch....the popularity of this place speaks volumes about the quality of the food & the efficiency & friendliness of the staff. It's always reassuring to see the kitchen area within sight of customers so you know there's nothing to hide.

It was our first visit and upon entering it was very busy! A lady approahed us and said 'sorry about the wait, but we will have a table for you shortly'. It was well worth the wait (no more than 5 minutes) We were talked through the "specials" on the board and you felt so welcome and relaxed. Food arrived and it was simply delicious. For me its the small things....the cucumber on my salad was so finely cut, the beetroot was cut into cubes, the potato salad was just divine. It was a plate to be admired but I was hungry so it went down a treat! Desserts came, and I wasn't sure if I could eat anymore. The lady assured me I could bring it home. Sure enough she arrived with a container for me to bring home my left over dessert!

Such a lovely spot, whether it’s the breakfast, lunch or for a Sunday dinner (I go quite regularly) you’re guaranteed for a great outing! I personally recommend the pancakes with bacon, egg and maple syrup it’s to die for!! A very homely place with very friendly staff!

I live just 5mins from the Bawn Pantry, I have passed it for ages, decided to go in with my wife for Breakfast, it was fantastic, beautiful fry up, clean and modern decor, the girls are friendly and can handle the grub well, it's tasty, reasonably priced, good parking, plenty of room, have been back loads since, never been disappointed, if your just passing through or live locally it's hard to beat, Ive had take out soup and other food, really good home cooking.

Whether it’s breakfast, lunches, takeaway or something sweet your after, you will be in love with The Bawn Pantry. As a lover of ‘brunch’, this place ticks all my boxes (and sets the benchmark) with beautiful daily specials and Ristretto coffee!

Food fine, service quite good but this place leaves a terrible smell on your clothing of fried foods when you leave. Must have very bad ventilation or something but it’s really bad. Always notice it and have to come home and shower afterwards and wash clothes other people are bound to notice it as well. If this was addressed might consider returning.

Call it what you want-a cafe,a bistro,a restaurant. Whatever it is it ticks all the boxes for food with fantastic staff. A lot of locals use it but its obvious more and more people are travelling to it to enjoy what's on offer.If you are passing and don't have the time to sample the food the coffee to go is pretty good as well.

We visited here on a whim having heard of its popularity and good food. It didn’t disappoint. We were seated at the last two seats in the place which was busy, full of flavours, conversation and laughter.

Had a Nutella pancake stack, there was that much Nutella the pancakes where swimming in it. It ruined the breakfast. The staff forgot my coffee and had to ask for it. It’s a loud environment with other people’s tables so close you can hear the conversations. I am not impressed and I was very disappointed.

This is my 2nd time here. First time I had hot food and it was amazing and presented lovely. This time I had a raspberry and white chocolate scone with jam and cream and it was absolutely delicious. Not stingy with the raspberries. I've had scones before and wonder where the actual raspberries are. This is definitely worth the 10 mile drive out of town to get to. 10/10

Called in today for lunch. I had the chicken noodle soup. I have to say it is the best chicken noodle soup I have ever had. The staff are very friendly, helpful and prompt. The tray bakes are delicious, fresh and have great selection. I would have went for the freshly baked rhurbarb tart only I was to full after the soup. Next time

Called in here yesterday, 16 June, at lunch time on our way from Markethill to Portadown. The place was busy and we had a slight wait to get a table but it was well worth the wait. A high chair was promptly brought for our grandson. The staff were working flat out and the food being carried to various tables looked delicious. My husband went for their burger and I had chicken noodle soup and our grandson had a meal from the Kiddies menu. The food was excellent, the staff were excellent. The toilet was spotlessly clean. We will definitely call here again. Couldn’t fault the place. It is a bit off the beaten track if you are not local but a place you would definitely make the effort to return to.

We called in to the pantry today hoping for a good selection for my gluten intolerant brother in law, after severe disappointment in Newry yesterday.

A nearby restaurant was one I would normally go to when in the city but it was full when I was looking for my tea. I found the Bawn Pantry almost by accident and I'm glad I did. I had a lovely meal that was well prepared and presented. It was served to me by a delightful waitress.The food I had offered value for money and the restaurant had a lovely atmosphere. A very clean relaxing place do dine in. I have no hesitation recommending the Pantry if it's good food you are after charged at a fair price.

We stopped for a late lunch and had delicious and generous salads for £6. Everything looked good and they had gluten free bread. Quick service and comfortable chairs. All in all a great cafe.

Have been here many times for breakfast and lunch. The staff are welcoming and the food is homemade and tasty. Pancakes are fluffy and service is quick. Would have no problem recommending to anyone!

Had a lovely breakfast here. The place was clean and has a lovely feel and decor (loved the big plush cushions). The food tasted delicious (lots of choice on the menu) and was served promptly despite the full house. All the staff were very welcoming and every customer in the place was smiling tucking into their meals. Would definitely recommend and will be back for more!

I visited the cafe this morning for breakfast with my daughter and we both really enjoyed it. The cafe is cosy, plenty of parking and the staff are very friendly.

We tend to visit here the odd Sunday for breakfast and we have never been disappointed. The staff are friendly and professional. The cafe is clean and beautifully decorated. Today we had a Nutella pancake stack between our two kids and my eight year old son said it was “the best breakfast he’s ever had!!” And he normally doesn’t eat much breakfast so this was a pleasure to see. The pancake stack was served with fresh strawberries and cream, the portion size was ample between two small kids. My husband enjoyed a full fry and I had a the Irish Man’s Eggs Benedict.This eggs benedict was a delicious and quirky take on traditional eggs benedict and was served with wholesome cuts of pastrami instead of ham. The eggs were poached to perfection and the pastrami was peppery and very tasty. They had at least 5 breakfast specials (and 2 of these were healthy breakfast specials) alongside their normal breakfast menu which has approximately 8 different options, there could be more but I didn’t count! All round this is a fabulous place to eat or grab a coffee- you won’t be disappointed! There’s plenty for everyone.

I hadn’t visited The Bawn Pantry before but shall certainly be paying a visit again. Lovely friendly & welcoming staff, who very kindly went the extra mile & provided us hungry cyclists with delicious food. I particularly appreciated the generous helping of toasted wheaten bread with mozzarella cheese melted on the top, garnished with thinly sliced tomato & rocket leaves. Excellent prompt service & Bike racks outside too - just perfect.

I have visited the Bawn Pantry on several occasions & the food is absolutely fantastic!! This cosy cafe has a warm atmosphere and the staff are very friendly & attentive! My sister & I went for Sunday lunch today and it was so delicious that I thought it was about time I wrote a review! I had the roast beef & she has the stuffed chicken wrapped in parmesan, followed by chocolate fudge cake & ice-cream! I would definitely recommend this place, the only thing I would say is be prepared to wait as its always so busy!

As an Expat from Brazil looking for an impromptu Sunday lunch, this local eatery was recommended by local friends. Set on the main road it was easy to find and ample free parking right behind it. Through the window we could see business was very brisk and feared a long wait. The atmosphere was really buzzing with family conversations and laughter; many patrons knew each other provoking ‘great craic’, which soon engaged new comers. James, the charming owner, quickly identified a vacating table for two and we were seated in minutes. The “Specials Board” was produced plus the regular menu. It was a difficult choice between the good home cooked meals (complete with Yorkshire Pudding). The service was excellent from friendly enthusiastic staff with James ensuring everyone got the best attention. The chosen dishes lived up to our expectations (while envying the other’s plate). To round of the whole experience, it was incredibly good value for first-rate quality food and generous servings. To quote Arnold – “I’ll be back!”

Having perused the Internet for somewhere rural to eat to have a spot of “Brunch” we saw the excellent recommendations for The Bawn Pantry” at Hamiltonsbawn. It is placed in a row of 4 small shops, looks very ordinary from the outside and to be honest, but for the recommendation on trip Advisor, qwe may have passed it by.

Great meal well presented cooked and delicious plenty of empty plates always a good sign sweets to die for.great staff enjoyed having place to ourselves.never disappointed here. Scott family should be proud of their businesses work really hard at it.thank you all very much.

Went for brunch with hubby and two children under 4. Always very busy on a Sunday. Food is very good value for money and children well catered for. Also good options for the Gluten Free Girl. Staff very friendly.

Called here today again for another brunch. At 11.30 things in full swing (Sunday). Pancakes here are the best but the special was avocado, eggs, sour dough bread and bacon or salmon. I though not another egg and avocado combo. But seriously. This combo was first class - with a little pesto drizzle and peppery lettuce leaf it was top nossh. Well done Bawn Pantry def recommend it.

Called in this morning while out cycling after a recommendation from one of the boys. Had a lovely fresh scone and cappuccino which was excellent and exactly what we needed to get us through the rest of the cycle. Definitely worth a visit....enjoy! Oh and great value too!

Wow! The nicest chunky tomato soup EVER!! Teamed up with a salad sandwich and I was good to go for the whole day. This is a bustling busy spot and they offer soups, quiches, sandwiches, burgers and PANCAKES!!! Great for breakfast.

The range of food here is excellent. You can see it being cooked which is nice. It has always been busy when we visited so service is slow. Not much room between tables you can hear everyone's conversations. It's hot too. Food always very hot and tasty. Friendly staff.. clean toilet a plus too.

Visited on Sunday for lunch, had a long wait as tables were all full, staff kept coming to apologise for keeping us waiting and updated us all the time. It was well worth the wait both of us had the roast beef dinner which was delicious and both of us were so full we had no room for desert, need to call soon for coffee and desert.

Hubby and I have had coffee here several times. The food looked so good and we'd heard such great reports, that we went to today for Sunday Lunch. The restaurant, which isn't all that big, was busy and buzzing. The staff are amazing. Welcoming and friendly and keeping everything organised in a very efficient way. We had a short wait, but didn't mind that. Hubby had all day brunch and I had stuffed chicken wrapped in bacon with all the trimmings. Both were cooked to perfection and the desserts looked so yummy, we finished off with rhubarb tart and custard and key lime pie and coffee. Spotlessly clean, good home cooked food, super staff and reasonably priced. What else could anyone ask for!! We'll definitely be back and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone
