The Barn Hotel & Spa in South Kesteven

Had a lovely stay. Staff were very helpful moving one of our rooms so we could be close together, very friendly and welcoming. The pool was great for the children and adults can also enjoy the steam and sauna rooms. Arrived quite late to breakfast but the staff (Jane in particular) were extremely accommodating bringing out fresh food from the kitchen for us. They were also very friendly with my children. Would definitely return again.

Staff fantastic, very helpful, food very good. Visited this hotel over 10 years ago which then was exceptional, however on revisiting things not quite the same. The bedrooms are now very tired and the 2 I used were in need of a lick of paint and some updating, bathroom and toilet needing some bleach as lots of marks and stains wherever you looked,

This hotel in a couple of miles off the A1, making it both convenient and sometimes busy with coach parties. Obvious efforts have recently made to make good wear and tear and upgrade rooms. Not quite there yet, but this is reflected in the good room prices. A very busy buffet breakfast BUT quality is maintained. We attended a Burns Night and greatly enjoyed it.

Currently here, it's dreadful! Couldn't get to the pool and facilities during to reaching maximum capacity. Our treatment was brilliant, but that's it! Room is very tired, shower un clean, beds are too soft, restaurant closed so food served in bar, however we arrived at 7pm, no tables so asked to wait in the lobby. £4.10 for a coke. 1 hour 20 minute's later our food arrived. We ordered tapas, 5 items plus a side of chips. The prawns were raw, had to send them back, bread was cold, tortilla was very dry and cold! When prawns returned, they were hot but still not cooked. We left, it has bee truly awful. This was a Christmas gift to myself and my daughter from my son and husband. They spent over £200, it's a disgraceful hotel, with rude bar staff and receptionist! DO NOT STAY HERE! We would have left if it wasn't a 2 hour drive home! Not staying for breakfast as I can only imagine how bad it will be!

We booked a spa experience here via Virgin Experience Days. We couldn’t believe that we had managed to get a spa day and night experience for only £169. When phoning to book our room for Valentine’s Day, we were told there was a £20 weekend supplement. This was paid over the phone and then we were advised to upgrade our treatments for £30. Again, this was paid and we looked forward to our stay. The evening before our stay, we received an email advising that the restaurant was bookings only. We phoned and was told that it was fully booked and would have to find somewhere else to eat as they would also be closing the bar food area. We arrived at the hotel at 1pm, with our first treatment being at 1:55pm. We made our way to the spa and was told that because we hadn’t paid £25 to check in before 3pm, we would have to pay £20 to use the changing rooms and facilities before 3pm. Reluctantly this was paid as the hotel had no facilities for getting changed / no luggage room. The treatments were the only positive throughout our stay. We then decided to use the swimming pool thinking this was going to be a romantic and relaxing spa day. Nope. Children were screaming, splashing around, jumping in the pool with inflatables - despite the pool sign saying none of the above was permitted. I think we stayed for about an hour before returning to our room. For our evening meal, we found a little Italian called Bela’s around 3 miles away. It was just what we needed and would highly recommend going here if you are staying at this hotel. We checked out this morning after having breakfast, which was ok. We would not return to the hotel for a spa weekend and are quite disappointed by the experience. We are not people to leave reviews (good or bad) but need to make future guests aware of all the additional fees!!

Ok place to go. Don’t expect anything crazy. Spa/leisure facilities feel dated and there isn’t much on the grounds. Rooms were okay, decent size bathroom and shower. Comfy king bed. Carpets in the room were very old and stained. Bar is decent and food was a 6/10. Breakfast felt weak in comparison to other hotel spas I have stayed at. Also very long wait for breakfast in morning, no staff around to seat us. So we sat ourselves and then the waitress was rather rude about it even though there were only 3 other people in the whole restaurant. We stayed midweek, hotel was very quiet. Most people staying for business/working away. Most likely wouldn’t stay again, I’d rather go to a premier inn. Whole place is in need of a good refurb. Definitely good potential not being realised.

I had the best night I’ve ever had in this hotel

The location is nice. The hotel itself is in need of some maintenance. The upkeep of the building is far from great everything is dated. The room smells awful from the bathroom. The TV controller was sticky. The bathroom had mold spots the list goes on.

The deals you can get for this place are really good, however with cheap prices comes at a cost. The breakfast was nice, although they should have a buzzer or a bell to ensure people queuing for entry are seen to promptly. Full English breakfast - minus the black pudding, cereals, croissants, mini doughnuts, bagels, cheese and hams along with juices and tea and coffee. The carpets in some of the areas looked like they should have been replaced a while ago and some areas of sealant looked like it had not been done to a professional standard. There is a notice above the jacuzzi stating that the pool time should be kept to one cycle, however the pool doesn't have cycles, so I assume it meant jacuzzi. It also stated that the pool is 1m deep when around the pool it states 1.5m deep, it's inconsistent and it creates disbelief in signs that are designed to keep you safe. The spa has a pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. The pool is good, warm enough and not too crowded as they limit the numbers, so get in there early & as it is an adults spa in my opinion children shouldn't be allowed in or have their own. The sauna was at 90°C with a humidity of around 40%, the steam room felt like you were on the surface of the sun and the paint on the inside of the jacuzzi was peeling and looked in need of replacement, although it worked fine and was plenty warm enough. They do murder mystery nights which looked extremely popular with people dressing up and sounded excited to be taking part. The therapists are great, chatty and know what she was talking about - and great at massaging. The gym is good enough for a session, the equipment was dated but it worked fine and it was quiet. I would go back for a themed evening however I wouldn't hurry back for the spa.

The best feature of this hotel is the staff working at the Spa. Friendly and long-serving, dealing with all issues.

While the hotel and spa had its enjoyable moments, there were a few issues that impacted our stay. We had to wait a long time to use the leisure facilities, especially the pool and jacuzzi. Unfortunately, some of the leisure center members were rude. One older lady was particularly unpleasant, pushing us in the pool and making mean comments, despite having plenty of space. It was uncomfortable and frustrating. There should be time limits for the pool and jacuzzi to ensure everyone gets a chance to use them, as we barely had any time because others stayed in for so long. Additionally, it felt like this hotel and spa catered more to an older crowd. My family and I are in our 20s, and we received some uncomfortable looks from several guests, though a few were lovely. This made the experience less relaxing and welcoming than we had hoped. A more inclusive environment would go a long way in improving the experience for younger guests like us. While my stay had some positive aspects, there were several disappointments that left me feeling unsatisfied. The dinner was quite bland, and although the breakfast was decent, it also lacked flavor. On top of that, my sister and brother didn’t even receive their desserts during dinner, and there was no one around to ask for assistance or to bring them out, which was frustrating. One highlight, however, was the massage therapist—she was incredible and gave me the best massage I’ve ever had. It was a truly relaxing experience, and I was impressed by her skills. Unfortunately, I don’t think I will return. The atmosphere felt uncomfortable, with many of the guests being quite rude. This was especially true for the members at the leisure facility, which made the experience unpleasant. I expected a more welcoming environment, but it didn’t feel that way for me and my family.

I didn’t stay in hotel. But I used the spa treatments as I live locally. I had my eyebrows waxed and eyelashes tinted on Fri 26th. I have completely forgotten the name of the lady who did it for me, but she was incredible. If you could tell write her name under this response. But she was welcoming, made me feel relaxed and did a great job. See you when they need redone soon! Thanks again:)

Sleep in an attic, suffocating because of the condense air. Also my bed had several yellow dirt marks all over.

Didn't start off too well. Arrived early (our fault) room not ready. Still not ready at 3pm so went off for a swim. Returned back at 4.30pm and thankfully it was ready. Room spacious (804) ground floor view to car park. Well equipped with tea/coffee making tray etc. Iron & board. Wardrobe. Desk. Small table and bucket chair. Well decorated. Bathroom with a nice big bath plus walk in shower. Big fluffy white bath towels. Overall room very clean and welcoming. Carpet let the room down though, it was quite stained and a bit sticky. Beds were comfy and bed linen fresh and white. Breakfast was excellent! Very good choice of hot and cold food. Very well laid out and tasty. One staff member stood out for us, and that was the young girl behind the bar. Very lovely, helpful, hardworking and experienced, I hope she's appreciated.

Great overnight spa break, very comfortable if a little tired however the new owners have upgrading plans in development...all in all good value for money but don't expect Cordon Bleu meals just simple food from a limited menu....I would definitely go again!

Very cute hotel. Very clean. Loved the staff. The only problem was the bathroom door dragging on the floor and making noise . Overall, it’s cozy and welcoming!

Had lunch in the bar and have to say we were very very disappointed. It took a long time for the food to arrive and when it did, the cheese and pickle sandwich that we had ordered was mostly pickle with a sprinkling of cheese on top. The white bread was of poor quality which was in complete contrast to the roll that came with the soup. We sent the sandwich back and rather than re-do or indeed remove some of the pickle, it simple had a bit more cheese on it with some extra cheese on the side. Very poor service from the kitchen and quality and food and we won't be returning

My step son paid for a few nights for a spa pool side was hard to feet and the rooms very run down no towels in one room and other room bed dirty as I got diagnosed with Huntington yesterday I wouldn't go back maybe for the murder mystery Very good and a lady called Abby food and drinks manger needs a medal 🥇🥇

Rather remote. Good service. Dinner was lovely & all you can eat buffet breakfast, but why do people leave food on their plate when it's serve yourself.!! So wrong, when there are people starving in the world.Our room was far too hot, the radiators below where very hot downstairs in the corridors. Room service quite poor. Plus our window couldn't open, bar an inch & had loads of mosquitos coming in, being so warm, so do take some fly spray if you visit just in case.

Went to a full day conference here, close to Grantham. Location is ideal, just off the motorway. The hot food buffet was great.

Stayed for a night, chilled in the mini pub and had dinner was pretty decent pub food. Deigo was lovely and looked after for the night! In the morning we had a facial, the lady was lovely and very good! Then, we spent a few hours in the pool and steam rooms, after finished of with a tea and some snacks. More for older people or people on work courses but lovely for a quick stopover, love the views of the farms and fields can really see the stars at night.

Stayed here 2 nights in room 503. This was supposed to be a superior room but it was nothing like their photos. The room decoration was beyond tired. See the photos for yourself. The skirting boards were rotten in several places. Black mould in the shower. Furniture so chipped and rickety that the local tip wouldn't want to take it. Overall the room was clean though, just poorly maintained. The leisure facilities were ok. But like the rooms, it was starting to show signs of poor maintenance. The food is good though. The restaurant food was great, so was the breakfast. As it's close to the A1 it's a convenient overnight stop.

A great venue, we went to the murder mystery event and it was so much fun! The 3 course meal was amazing. Super comfy bed, quiet and clean.

Good clean staff very freindly and helpful. Breakfast 10/10. Beer expensive. Nice bar food.

Very disappointing visit. Our room was supposed to be a superior double but it definitely wasn't. Very tired furniture, slats missing off the blind, iron burn on the carpet. Needs a lot of tlc. The evening meal was an absolute disaster, the restaurant was extremely busy (we had been booked in at 7.45pm which we find a little late to eat but they couldn't change the time). We had to wait an hour before the meal came out (we did make the staff aware) and it was awful. I did go and see the lady on reception and told her about the delay and how disappointed we were. Breakfast was ok and we had been asked by email to see if we wanted Sunday lunch. It was delicious! The restaurant manager said he was very sorry to hear about the previous night's meal and we could have a free drink each - because we had booked a package we couldn't have a refund?? Swimming pool OK. I had taken my partner away as he hasn't been very well and thought this might cheer him up a bit but we both were very disappointed. I contacted the hotel via BWH and was offered a complimentary one night b and b stay, which I turned down. First of all we had booked a break with evening meal and secondly why would we go back to somewhere where we had a disappointing stay??

Myself and my wife stayed as a little honeymoon after being married. Could not fault the rooms the services on site nor the food. The restaurant was to die for. Little upset that the restaurant was shut on the Sunday evening as there was things ok the menu I wanted to try but the bar food was good quality and was brilliant. The only thing that was a let down this weekend was staffing. First night Sat 6th April there was one chef on in the kitchen. Still food came out hot and delicious-all be it slow but can’t fault the chef for completing everything on his own. Sunday night service was slow for bar food once again because of staffing ONE person (duty manager Phil) to serve drinks take food orders clear tables and serve food is ludicrous. The poor guy never stopped once all night and made sure everyone was tended to. Felt sorry for the guy when people were complaining rightly so. Once food came it was very nice but once again cannot fault anything but the fact there was not enough staff. The spa was brilliant good quality treatments a good pool steam room and sauna which you can visit as many times as you like with the spa access to your room. Breakfast was pretty good. Nice spread and decent cooked breakfast. Lunch at the bar also pretty good as well. Prices for bar drinks are a little steep but for the quality of food service and facilities on site can’t really complain paying that little extra. Will come back and hopefully staffing issues will have been resolved.

The bar staff are very terrible no customer service experience and very childish one of the bar staff siad she was going to get some boys to get me out when I did nothing rong they also do drawing of people and take fun of them just seams to me they are very childish

There were quite a few of us there, some rooms don't have windows some have a nice view of a wall, to be fair there must be some normal rooms with a view as you can see them from the carpark. One of our friends got one of quite a few rooms that are right next to the function room, and as there was actually a function on, they got to listen to the disco and loud drunken people til quite late.

We stayed for the 1 night it was good just to chill evening meal was good and breakfast.. very quiet area we enjoyed it .. Thank you

Yes I'd recommend and I will explain my star rating. We had a very nice room. The food was really good, 3 courses for £25. Great value, very tasty! Staff overall were very nice. Checked in on line dead easy and I am so not technical!😂 If I went again and I would by very happy to go, maybe their Murder Mystery weekend. Definitely would not bother with the Soa Treatments but would use the pool instead. So that was the reasoning for the overall 4 stars. Firstly I had an operation on my eyes so could not have the Indian head massage and changed to a back exfoliation with a neck and back massage. This was in with the package I booked but was under the impression it was about a half hour. One therapist did not turn up, we were supposed to have our treatments at the same time but friend had her treatment first, again half the time she expected and then me about 10 minutes done and out! It was still very pleasant. Anyway I left my brand new nightie, so I sent them a stamped addressed envelope and they posted it straight back to me so very happy with that. So yes I would still recommend and I would be happy to rebook!

My wife & sister had the misfortune to visit this establishment for what was supposed to be a relaxing spa day. The place is filthy, grimy and smelly. They managed to bring forward their treatments (which were fabulous) and left early due to the disgusting state of place. Avoid like the plague!

Staff friendly and nothing was too much trouble . The food was well presented, and plentyful. Breakfast was buffet style . Spa facilities good, staff helpful and friendly , Only criticism was that WiFi at end of the block we were in was poor and variable ...public areas different again.. Parking in and around hotel good ..

The pool was very clean and the spa services were good. We had a great hot stone massage. Our room was cold upon arrival but a second heater did the trick. Food in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast was really good.

Excellent facilities, spa/fitness staff very welcoming informative and always happy to help.

Only visited the hotel as my daughter was giving blood, but what I saw of the lounge and some other areas, it was well decorated and welcoming,

If you need to be in this area it'll do nicely
