you for nominating The Barn Bar to be one of The Good Food Guide's Best Sunday Roasts. C. Gilfedder 30 September 2024 Fresh local produce, stunning Argyll venison in a rich jus and lamb roast with homemade yorshires. The layered potatoes were so delicious and crisp, as were the roasts. Wonderful kids menu for our 6mth old. A warm, relaxed rustic atmosphere with superb friendly service. Felt like we had found a secret inn sheltered in serene scenery with an ev charger! The desserts were phenomenal. Freshly picked bramble cheesecake, light moose texture with contrasting crunchy biscuit base. The brownie was a chocoholic's dream served with fresh ice cream and lashings of rich sauce. As someone who grew up down south and is half Yorshire I have long searched for a proper Sunday Roast pub lunch in Scotland and this is the only place that has done it. Seriously, the most enjoyable meal I have had to date and we shall become regulars. So glad to have found the Barn and cannot recommend it highly enough. Can't wait for the winter now to be there with the two stoves roaring and cosy up with the family for some fine dining.

We had the best roast beef dinner, 6 of us all ordered roast beef and everyone loved it! Deserts were fantastic also (especially the lemon tart, bailey cheese cake and sticky toffee pudding). Staff were great, really friendly and accomodating, would definitely be back! Lovely atmosphere.

The Barn is approx 2 miles south of Oban, set in beautiful countryside, Dogs very welcome, ample parking, Very popular with Locals and Tourists, it’s charming and really unique with a very relaxed atmosphere. The menu is written on a wall board, changes daily, promoting local produce. Julie and Leanne were fantastic hosts, their knowledge and pride for the area is massive, they made us feel really welcome and happy, nothing was too much trouble and service is just right. Chef Angus certainly knows his stuff, meals are cooked to order, we enjoyed Haggis Bon Bons, Three Beetroot salad, tried some Malt Whisky and Cider, Venison Casserole, Sunday roasts, Steaks with the biggest and very best Onion rings ever. Desserts were amazing! The Barn restaurant has started to build an excellent reputation locally, which is fully deserved. Thanks so much for the humour and making us, along with other customers no doubt, feel very comfortable and relaxed, it’s been a joy while staying there. 😊

We found this little gem by chance and was not disappointed.. A warm welcome from the landlady and nothing was to much trouble.. No set menu, everything is locally sourced and for this reason the price is very reasonable.. The food was exceptionally well presented and the flavours were outstanding.. Would highly recommend and dogs are welcome too.

Head to the Barn at Cologin for a warm welcome, freshly cooked delicious food, in a converted old stone barn in a stunning rural glen, only 5 minutes from Oban. Book in advance though, as they're a busy wee place.

Julie at The Barn made us feel so welcome. She was so friendly and helpful. I need a Gluten Free diet, not a problem. All the food was tasty, fresh, and well cooked. The atmosphere was buzzing, friendly locals added to the fun. We will definitely return. Great dog friendly place too. Even for a very nervous dog

Our car broke down and 2 of our group ended up at The Barn .......totally unplanned.....for tea/coffee and a cheeseboard to keep us going while the Mechanic was on his way! Carina/Karina? stopped her car and gave us a lift to the Barn ......such kindness....and then a lift back to the broken down vehicle! Other folk were enjoying what looked like delicious Sunday Roasts etc........must be a great Chef! Will definitely go back.....chalets and kids areas looked good too for family hols

We went here for a meal and the food was absolutely gorgeous - we had a roast beef dinner that was so special. This place is out of Oban and satnav will get you there down a single track road (which is not unusual in this area)! The staff were so friendly too - we managed to get a table but I would book to guarantee a place. I think they open certain days - so worth checking. This place is a hidden gem - all home cooked food - dessert was amazing too.

Fantastic accommodation. Very clean and up to scratch, brilliant services in the accommodation. Meals in the bar were fantastic also, well cooked and professionally presented on the platters. There wasn’t much option in terms of alcoholic drinks but we solely put that down to only just reopening post lockdown and not being able to get the supplies in. Other than that, it was all brilliant. The weekend was made ever more special as it was an engagement weekend with a proposal at the Glenfinnan Viaduct (roughly a 90 minute drive North). So coming back to a lovely meal in the barn following by popping champagne in the cabin was very special. Will definitely return.

We have a delicious afternoon tea at The Snug today. The staff were all so friendly and helpful. The food was absolutely amazing. Lots of thought is put into the afternoon tea with a great choices of sandwiches, yummy homemade sausage roll, scone and lots of delicious sweet treats. I would highly recommend this just make sure to book in advance because obviously this needs to be prepared. Excellent value for money. Great atmosphere too.

We didn’t have a booking but the restaurant fitted us in which we really appreciated. We were not disappointed the food was exceptional and so was the service. The menu is small, but perfect. We all ordered a different main course and none of us were disappointed. I have a starter again, beautiful and the rest of the party a dessert again fantastic. The complimentary soup was a nice touch too. It was the first evening of our stay and it could not have been any better. A really great restaurant. Thank you.

On our holiday in Glenelg we popped into this cafe, which is popular with both locals and visitors. We only had coffee, but the food on offer looked very tasty. The owner was very friendly and helpful. There is ample parking nearby. Overall a nice place for a snack. Highly recommend.

Popped in today and managed to get a table as they were very busy so enjoyed our usual wonderful lunch. Always cooked to perfection and the famous "Richard's chips" were fantastic. They are dog friendly too so our wee pooch Alvah had a great time being petted by other visitors.
