Only ever had drinks here but believe the food is yummy. Often drop In for a couple of drinks when the weather is nice and sit outside

Cosy pub in a former post office building. Wide range of local and international beers. Events include: pub quiz, poetry night, live music and painting night. I haven't eaten here, but friends have told me it serves good quality, pub-style food. Outdoor seating available. Friendly and efficient staff.

12 pound for a wine and cider, not bad but the cider was undrinkable my partner also said the wine didn't taste right and left it. :(

I went here with my dog and bestie for food and drinks. I was mainly served by Ruby; she was friendly and attentive to both humans and dogs, excellent customer service.

Lovely pub with a decent Pie 'n Pint deal. Good choice of ales and the curry pie was excellent, served with a portion of extra curry sauce. Nice evening so sat outside watching the world go by.

As a family, we absolutely love this pub. It has a great atmosphere, excellent staff who are always friendly and willing to go the extra mile and always a great selection of beers. Highly recommended. 🍺🐶

A lovely pub with good food and atmosphere

We like going into this pub but yesterday was disappointing. A barmaid was stood at the end of the bar eating a pizza. She constantly licked her fingers and then served customers without washing her hands. I appreciate they need to eat and have a break but we left as didn't want to order drinks with dirty hands. Such a shame as a great pub.

Had my birthday here for around 18 friends and family. Gosh the staff worked so hard to look after us and made it a really special day. The food was really lovely and everyone had a great time. Thank you so much. Your effort and attention to detail was noted by us all. I will be back with a smaller group soon.

Both Boothroyd and I are making our first ever visit to this bar in an old Post Office building. A CAMRA Good Beer Guide pub three years running. 2022 to 24. Claim a CAMRA discount on beer. Four real ales and a real cider. Booth decided on a pint of Marble Brewery Pint. A 3.4% session bitter. Try a pint and pie for £10 when on special offer. Food on sale (pies..steak n ale, fish, curry pie etc.) and Sunday roasts. Super one room pub plus snug for hire with open air seating out front. Super find says Booth. Stayed for a 3 pie slider for £15 to share between us. Steak n ale, chicken n mushroom and chicken curry. We were not hungry until we smelt the gravy! Also had a pint of Dunham Massey Dark Mild at 3.8%. One small TV. Pipped music. Cocktails for £7.50. Popular with families. Some tables reserved. Pies excellent..and Booth knows a great pie! Toilets upstairs but also a ground floor disabled facility.

Went here on a Tuesday to meet up with friends for food. We were in the nook, and I ordered the steak pie and mash. The pie was absolutely delicious, full of meat, the mash was gorgeous.... And to top it off, keep the receipt.... And eat again on a Tuesday night in the same month for free. To be honest, it's a cracking deal, and the food was excellent. The staff were so lovely..... The place is a credit to Urmston. X

Very busy on Christmas eve , but plenty of staff on , food was excellent along with the service and the fact we could take our dog was a bonus! Very highly recommended

We had booked a table for Sunday lunch. Despite multiple tables being free in the main bar we were sat in the empty snug with no other customers. We asked to sit in the main bar but were clearly a nuisance even though multiple tables were empty. We were told that’s a ‘four’ … and the table remained empty for the 45 mins we were there. The customer service left a lot to be desired which is a shame as we loved it last time but having seen multiple plates sent back we will go else where next time.

I had a pit stop here with a friend after a walk on a sunny Saturday . I didn't have food but the food I saw coming out for other people looked delicious. I had 2 pints of a stout which were lovely and cold, and my mate had lager which was also lovely and cold. We spoke with a lovely little lady who may have been the manageress who was very sociable and welcoming so we will probably use it as a pit stop again because it's got a nice atmosphere.

Ok for a drink. Nothing fantastic like.

So uninviting couldn't wait to get away didn't even finish my drink never been back. Don't want to go back to be honest, only went to try it because we were told it had been taken over, well sorry but it hasn't changed at all.

My friends and I went for early doors to celebrate a birthday. The food was excellent, the service was great and my dog was spoilt rotten. The young lady who served us could not have do more !

Hot buffet for my sons 18th birthday, cannot recommend enough. Hot, fresh and delicious. Total value, so much food. Of particular note was the chicken wings and excellent scones made our celebration thank-you barking dog

Food always delicious and bar well stocked. However, what makes every trip fabulous is the attentive staff, young and old, who treat all customers so well. Never felt rushed or uncomfortable. Thank you all.

Went to barking dog 2 weeks ago on Tuesday. The pies are delicious & considering I don't like mashed potato it was the best I have tasted. We were then informed that if we went again within the month we got 2 free meals. Lovely place, staff lovely will definitely be going again.

Loved the steak and ale pie...the burger was also amazing...too big to be eaten as one piece, though 😋

Really enjoy quiz and the atmosphere here. Look forward to going again.

Booked as a large group with some other families. The staff could not have been more accommodating, going the extra mile helping me to plan everything, from our arrival time, to dealing with dietary needs and arranging our pre-order of food. Staff were attentive and flexible on the day. Been in several times with just my family too and never been disappointed. The staff are always so lovely and the food and drinks are great - I thoroughly recommend the pies!

5 of us and our dog visited this pub on a very wet Saturday early evening, looking for somewhere we could take our dog and have a meal whilst visiting our daughter at Salford uni for the weekend. Despite being very busy in the pub, the staff found us a table after a few minutes, and when we’d ordered our food it came within 25 mins. We ordered a variety of different dishes between us and they arrived absolutely piping hot and were delicious, in fact I would say the steak and ale pie was the best I’ve had for a long time. I would thoroughly recommend and we will definitely go there again when next up in the area. Thanks guys!!

My small man has a thing for Sunday lunches at the minute and the one here did not let him down. The kid’s Sunday roast would have quite frankly been ample for me a 40 year old never mind the 8 year old! Who’d already eaten his breakfast and a Greg’s sausage roll. Talk about a hungry caterpillar. I opted for the cheese and onion pie and the other half had a burger. We were also extremely impressed. Great beer choices, a chilled vibe and a frankly brilliant music selection being played means we’ll be recommending to friends and returning soon.

I have been many times and it seems to get better every time. Staff are friendly and very helpful. I highly recommend the food.

The Barking dog is a great pub. In an age where there are trendy bars and themed drinks outlets popping up , it’s so good to see a traditional style pub going strong . The beers are great, the staff are great and the welcome is always on point, you can tell that the owner cares. They put a real effort into entertainment and have all sorts going on to cover most interests. Quizzes , DJs and more . The food is lovely and cooked with care . I’ve got a gluten allergy and when I queried the food the waitress did a great job going through the options . Now I’ve worked in hospitality for a along time , mostly in kitchens and if I was ever asked about allergies, especially gluten I would always say that although many items were gluten free , we do prepare food with flour etc and there could be a small chance that some flour could fall or ‘drift’ into another dish. This is highly unlikely and also wouldn’t be an Amount that would cause a problem but better safe than sorry. If someone has a serious allergy their safety comes first . So I appreciated the staffs honesty in relation to this and I went ahead and enjoyed a great meal. The place is well maintained and cleaned. It’s got great ventilation and felt really airy, yet cosy. Well done guys , keep up the good work and see you for a beer soon. When is the bald DJ on next ? He is hilarious. Take care !

Thought to be much better we will jam gonna tell with hardly anything in there as we had to wait an hour for our food. Place could do with dust, to get ride of the cobwebs everywhere, Yorkshire pudding looked like a flower pot and tasted of uncooked bread, Red cabbage soaking in vinaigrette,

High priced beers , waiting for 45mins for a meal when it arrived it was cold The pies where over salty. Not even remotely warm and the red cabbage was cooked in Christ knows , but it was rank ,dusty little snug with cracked paint and cobwebs in the place where the safe was,

If for no other reason, you should go here for the pies. If you go on a Tuesday then you get a voucher that entitles you to another pie the following Tuesday, what’s not to like about that!

Appalling for allergies. Made to feel my medical condition was an inconvenience. I was told they couldn't guarantee any of the food was allergy safe as "its all prepared in the same kitchen". At least they are honest about their disregard for safety standards. >> in response to your reply << you state "We do have a significant number of allergen free options on the menu." and "We have a small kitchen that is not big enough to guarantee an allergen free area due to cross contamination." You clearly dont understand food safety in the slightest or wouldn't make the first statement. Safe food preparation does not require two kitchens or screened off areas, this shows your basic lack of knowledge. Changing gloves for example is a simple step you should take, good chefs knows this and go out of their way to ensure the customer feels their medical needs are being taken seriously, it was only because I reiterated my medical condition that I was told "oh it has to be allergen free, we cant guarantee that". You clearly dont understand what it is like to have a medical condition, and anyone with a dietary requirement needs to know this and avoid eating here at all costs, hence the one star.

Best pub in Urmston bar none. Top beer, great decor, dogs welcome and the landlord is fit as.... Reminds me of buzz lightyear and turns me into woody everytime. Keep up the good work, wuff wuff

Had a lovely evening with my brother his wife and my sister celebrating my brother 65th birthday. They got hooked on these pink looking shots. Was good that they had a selection of alcohol free beers for me as I was driving

Went with family for a father's day lunch and it was great, good food and it wasn't overwhelming despite being busy. The staff were all lovely and it was a good experience as a group.

Thought it was okay. A little dark and ambiance not great.

We had a lovely meal. The menu is great; just hard to choose from so many great options. The children were happy with the children's menu options; . he children's portion sizes were good. (It would be good to include salad/veg with children's pizza). Adult portion sizes were good too. We would be happy to return!

We booked the snug for a family get together. The service was excellent. Food was good. The younger member of our family enjoyed the table games and toys provided.

Great place. Food is select but delicious. Roasts rock. Plenty of seats. A nook eith games for the kids and adults too with free hire!

Great atmosphere, nice and relaxed but always busy. Had a pie and it was really good, I'd recommend this place!

Four of us visited on a Tuesday (honestly because it turned out to be one of just a few places to eat actually open in Urmston on Tuesday!!) and were all really pleasantly surprised at how delicious the meal was. My steak and ale pie was melt in the mouth, with delicious buttery pastry, and the sides of cajun sweet potato wedges and garlic button mushrooms just cooked to perfection and so tasty. The others had pies and sausage and mash, all said how nice it was. I'm keen to come back for a roast now!!

My Mum and I went for Sunday Lunch today. It was really nice. Pud and dinner were great. The two bar staff that were also servers were nice and friendly. The only minus I'd heard so much great thing about the Sunday dinner pie and I was told they had stopped serving it.
