The Ballymac Hotel in Lisburn

Sorry to say this but the food was poor standard . Looked like it had been sitting all day , just waiting to be heated in microwave . Thought we'd give it a try as had not been there in years . Bar service was good and floor staff were excellent . We went there for dinner ,it was a big let down . Can't see us going back anytime soon .

An absolutely horrific experience. My family went here for our Easter meal, staff were rude from we arrived- we waited 50 minutes before anyone approached us for a drinks order my partner actually went to the bar to see if he could put an order in as nobody had came to the table and he was told to sit down and be patient. When we did eventually get our drinks we waited a further hour to place our food orders and when the food arrived it was piping hot in places and stone cold in others none of the meals could be ate. Our food had to be corrected numerous times as we also kept receiving the wrong meals. As we had children in our company and they had not ate in a few hours and their meals were stone cold we asked to speak to a manager to try and resolve the situation and make him aware he approached the table and was extremely rude, aggressive, defensive and patronising. He told us tough luck it’s Easter what did we expect and literally told us to pay and leave. We were shocked, I have never seen a man speak to women the way he did I hate to complain but I am so glad I did because the food and the service was a disgrace. I think if this establishment wants returning customers or any customers at all it needs to re train the staff and teach them common manners and contemplate replacing the angry horrid little man of a manager. Shocking! We were also not the only table who had complained one table actually got up and left half way through their meal and we witnessed the manager swear at them on the restaurant floor. Vile behaviour. Avoid at all costs!

A hotel in northern ireland that doesnt sell a smithwicks or a bass with zero concern wether you had a beer or not is a disgrace! We arrived into the front area that had no direction to a bar or restaurant the only signs on the doors were ladies and gents toilets turned left to find a member of staff showing customers around a hall and then grossly looking at me because i walked into the wrong room. Then turned to the only unidentified door to see a bar and as soon as we walked in a person got us a table. All was well until the waitress came to us for drinks. I asked what red ale they had, waitress looked at me as if i was a complete moron. Sadly she had to go and ask a senior person. He just stated with impunity we dont do ales.! This was a little shocking as they did not seem to give one concern wether i had a beer or not. When the senior person left? I asked is there an alternative and the waitress simply looked back at me with zero answers. So i ordered cokes all round. They arrived and we got 200ml bottles otherwise known in the trade and mixer bottles. The smallest drink of coke i have ever purchased for what was to be a nice sunday dinner. Cokes arrived. Food was ordered and came quickly however this sunday dinner was nothing more than canteen food. The beef was 2 thin slices with one barely roasted boiled potato the size of a golf ball and the plate was bare looking like something you would see in a canteen for schools. I have provided pictures of the saddest dinner i have ever seen. Veg came in mix of over boiled ingredients with zero taste. Who ever the chef is needs to learn about how it looks when it arrives with the customer sadly i wont return to this low class high priced eatery. They seem to act like my custom was meh and return custom continues but ill never return nor will i ever recommend this poor place to anyone.

Haven't been for a while as not good last time unfortunately not much has changed £15.95 for fish and potatoes no veg wife's peppers chicken smaller portions than before higher price never ask at any time was everything ok poor service obviously can't be bothered wouldn't be rushing back or recommend the owners used to be very fussy how times have changed.

We had this gem of a hotel recommended to us and it didn't disappoint. From the moment we got there the staff were helpful and friendly. Dinner was excellent and breakfast was outstanding. The bar/restaurant is beautiful and we enjoyed some great cocktails there. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The grounds were wonderful. Close to some great walking trails with breathtaking views and convenient to Belfast city. Can't say enough about our experience. Would definitely recommend and look forward to going back

Ruddiest manager I ever meet Removed a dessert that was not finished and placed another empty plate on top of it and when told it was not finished he replaced it somewhat flatter and walked off when we said we did not want to pay for the dessert he said he would change it to the room and that we were just messer’s. Our group payed over £2500 to the hotel over a week or so and this manager made sure he got the £5.95 for a spoiled dessert.

The Caribbean curry was just chip shop curry sauce, the chicken was over cooked, the rice was terrible and not pilaf rice as stated, Uncle Ben’s instead and the chips tasted of old cooking oil. Both bland and woeful. The Sea Bass was over cooked, the vegetables the same and the champ bland. Waitress asked how the meal was, we told her it was terrible, no one else thought to ask, when we returned most the food nor as we were paying. Worst thing is it was a gift voucher and we have more to spend at this terrible establishment. Thank you for ruining our lunch.

The attitude of two of the staff members was shocking I would never think about speaking to anyone the way they spoke to me and then also the food was shocking really wasn’t happy at all then also the price of the meal was so expensive for what you get I will never be back again

We held a family event here today (Sunday afternoon) with 50 guests . The reception team were really helpful with booking and arrangements. The room was attractive and well laid out. A large number of very friendly staff ensured that the service we received was exceptional. The menu was varied and the food delicious. We were very impressed to say the least

Dirty room, mouldy bath, dried blood on windowsill, finger prints all over mirror, black hairs in bath

Food was very nice , pitty about the staff !!! On top of you , constantly standing over the table , when handed food was asked 3 times was the food ok in the space of 10 mins, soon as you put your fork down they dive on top of you to take the plates away , approached the manager ciaran , his face said it all , basically made an excuse because one of our orders where wrong that, they done it out of kindness , felt very out of place and couldn’t enjoy the meal as staff members constantly staring !! As I said food was nice pity about the unwanted experience

The food is always delicious and is reasonably priced. Staff are always really friendly and there's a great atmosphere every time we go.

The food and service today was exceptional. All social distancing was exemplary and the cleanliness was as good as could ever be expected. We ate in the bar area and our food was brought out promptly, was hot and cooked perfectly We will be coming back

Stayed last night lovely please good staff but room was in stank wife fell sleep with sore head and ya dont even get a fry for breakfast toast and coffee most please do frys not really good for 70 pound

Went to the Ballymac Hotel last Saturday for dinner with my family for my Sister's Birthday. It was very nice, the staff were kind and welcoming. We had our own room just for us. The staff couldnt do enough for us, the food and drinks were delicous and for what we paid was very reasonable. Really enjoyed by all the family and we are regulars to the Ballymac and with the Lockdown missed going up for our Dinner. The lovely staff knows us and always make you feel welcome, will defo be going back soon for dinner. It was an amazing afternoon spent in the Ballymac with brillant staff, gorgeous food and made to feel most welcome. Cant wait to go back.

Just returned home from Ballymac after having New Years Day dinner here. We called around 3pm to see if they have any availability between 5-6pm. They said they where so busy they squeezed us in at 6pm. When we arrived we stood in the bar for 5mins until they figured out what booking our room was in. They brought us in to the function room where they hire out for weddings. The place was empty and we were allocated a fold up table sitting in the middle of the dance floor which I already found very uncomfortable. When the food arrived I literally couldn’t believe what was sat in front of us 6 adults!! My dad ordered a steak which came on a plate on its own and a side bowl of frozen chips. Not even a onion ring, a mushroom or a fried tomato for garnish!! It was ridiculous. Something you would be handed in a canteen! So I asked the waitress how much was the steak and did it come with anything other than itself! She replied no that’s it and it’s £21. My brothers peppered chicken came in a bowl swimming in peppered sauce.. which to mention definitely was not peppered sauce it was more like a tub of double cream emptied into the bowl!! Disgusting. My mums chicken dinner came without the roasties so we had to then ask for them. My meal was steak ciabatta which was pure soggy with the amount of cheese and onions on the bread. Again served with frozen chips!! My husbands side salad with his scampi was also soggy and the scampi was just pure batter.The kids had chicken goujons & the burger and at the end I asked does ice cream come with their meal. I was told ‘no not with this menu’ (which was the bar & grill menu) So £8 for a kids meal and not even a bowl of ice cream!!! Everyone of us left our plates filled with food and not one waiter asked was it ok! Completely over priced, disgusting food I will never recommend nor step foot back in there again! Charging hotel prices for absolutely disgusting food!! It’s a joke. One thing I also noticed was that we can’t leave reviews on Facebook and the reviews left of trip advisor are never replied too!! I hope that £160 we handed over goes towards hiring a PROPER chef!!

Came here for dinner with family, two of us ordered the fillet steak (one medium, one well done) for £25 each, when they arrived my medium steak came with two large fillets and my dad's well done steak came with one fillet, butterflied, clearly half the quantity of steak he was supposed to get. We communicated this to the manager (male) who was extremely arrogant and rude and told us that we were wrong. The medium steak had not been rested before serving resulting in my plate being covered in blood, ruining my meal. Also would have been nice to have some garnish or onion rings served with the steak, rather than just the steak on the plate. This manager needs to go on a customer courtesy course as he has clearly not been given any training about how to deal with customers. We were disgusted with the service we received from him and will not be back.

Recently my Wife and I visited the Ballymac hotel for a meal in the Restaurant.The hotel was busy but when we visited the toilets at reception there was a sign up saying toilets not in use. We had to use the disabled toilet which was working!!After having some drinks in the seating area beside reception we went into the restaurant. My wife ordered fillet steak and I sirloin steak cooked medium with mash and chips and French Fried Onions! Both the steaks were undercooked and the mash and chips were very bland and tasteless!.I handed over £70 for this meal including bottle Wine!Will be in no hurry back!

after this review for THE BALLYMAC Hotel facebook they have deleted them and blocked me from commenting.. I have so much more to add to this as well.. If you are considering booking wedding and any special requirements is needed make sure they confirm by email or in writing As we spoke to Dena on a number of occasions about 2 extra beds in our bridal suite for our children, didnt put the beds in for them, when we asked about it the attitude from Jim was 'theres nothing we can do' so we ended up home on the night of our wedding with 4 children in tears. Didn't accept responsibility for the mistake and still no apology. Ruined the end of our wedding, memories are still raw. Can't believe how we were treated. Twice they messed up. Sorry I didn't change. Not just what happened that night but they way they handled and spoke to me on the phone. The last call I was in tears, I had to give the phone to my sister to speak to them. I was so upset and angry, a lot of my memories are revolving around that. The hurt they have caused us is unreal. A simple 'we are sorry lets try and sort the beds out' or even after that night a phone call of apology. But far from it, I got my video back with all the guests messages and the first one was my daughter leaving a message and at the end saying she was excited to stay in hotel. Then the anger flowed back.. Unforgivable for how the dealt with it and all what was said by all the management, Terry, Ciaran and Dena.Suggesting that my guests could have took my kids or my guest could have had our bridal suite while we had a normal room. Saying that they lost revenue on a room, well the amount I ht money my parents paid and guests that day/night would have covered £70 also my mother didn't get her flowers and a few other bits and pieces. After my sisters checking next day to see what was there belonging to me. Everytime I spoke with Dena, she was like awk hold on a minute, I thought this and that. We are really busy, I will call you back. 9/10 times I was ringing back. It pains me to say, that I would have been looking forward to our wedding anniversary and this is all we have to think about. Some people look forward to spending that night in the same or talking about the next morning spending it at breakfast with all our family and friends. Instead we barely spoke to each other, not out of being annoyed with each other. We had Birthday dinner/party for my 80yr old mother on Friday 29 March. When we arrived in the afternoon to add the finishingtouches to the room, we were so pleased with the set up. We had 32 for the meal,the Ballymac's personalised menu just added to the special night. The food was excellent, vegetarians options delicious, desserts amazing. The staff could not have done any more to help us. They were courteous, pleasant, patient and just really professional. The Ballymac made a special 80th birthday even more special. Thank you so much Ballymac Hotel management and team.

Decided to go to the Ballymac very last minute on Sunday. Was pleasantly surprised to be seated immediately - even though it was around 5.30pm. Myself, my husband and my granddaughter had a really lovely meal and we will definitely be back. Two mains, two desserts and a kids' meal plus 3 soft drinks and 2 beer came to £62 and it was well worth it. There was basically nothing left on our plates and we had a really enjoyable time. There was plenty of parking outside and I couldn't really fault anything with the whole experience. Service was spot on. Highly recommended.

We decided to eat here as we have been many times before, we had booked a tableSo that wasn’t a problem, really pleasant server, food was nice as usual, however I was surprised at how small the portions had become! It’s not a cheap place to eat either. I thought the price for a jug of dilute juice was a rip off. Also my 2 children had found a piece of plastic in their dessert that they had been sharing, to be fair the server did go into the kitchen and it was from the packaging, they did deduct a dessert from the bill however not what you would expect from a place of that class especially for the price you pay

Went for my daughters Hoy communion the food was terrible, cold and just not worth the money at all! Won’t be back

Visited here on my way home from the airport for a spot of lunch. I had previously heard great reviews about here so I thought I'd give it a try. Very few light meals on the menu, most appeared to be big dinners even at lunch time. I was able to order a prawn open sandwich after negotiating my order with the waitress however it was tasteless and boring, I struggled to finish it. Food overpriced also. Very disappointed.

The basr and restaurant offers great value for money and the staff are excellent - the menu range is fantastic and the portions good value for money

Went for a casual late lunch and had the so-called “homemade” mushroom soup. I guess if opening a can constitutes homemade then they got that right. The bowl was about the size of a large yogurt pot. Total rip off at €5. Side portion of luke warm chips was €3.50. Tea weak as dishwater. This place is long past its heyday. Service was quite gruff when the order was taken lacking a friendly salutation by the unkempt man on duty. Will not be returning and would advise others to check out nearby StranfIeld for a better experience.

Visited with my family for Sunday lunch. Food was ok and staff friendly. I spent £100, but was extremely disappointed to see I had been charged 2X£3.60 for 2 small jugs of cordial. This could only be described as very,very lightly flavoured water. So I effectively paid £7.20 for a couple of glasses of water.

Was there with family members for a last minute dinner date! Quick service with food that was so tasty and not greasy. The menu was varied and there was such a selection to choose from. Price was very reasonable for the quality.

We were booked for a family meal to celebrate a milestone birthday. A deposit was paid, they were expecting us, despite the fact it was Father's Day. We ordered our meals, they arrived but were all accompanied by chips. They had ran out of potatoes!!!! No mashed potatoes or champ. Some of us would've ordered a different meal had we been told before it arrived. A roast dinner with chips is not my thing. They offered baby boiled potatoes which we accepted only to then be told they were out of those too. Although they apologised and didn't charge for coffee at the end, the meal was completely ruined. How can you run out of potatoes???? Shops sell them, go and buy enough to get you through. The worst part though was taking the order, preparing the meals, serving the meals and only being told there were no potatoes when we questioned why we were getting so many chips. Free coffee does not compensate for a ruined birthday meal. Never again.

Really enjoyed the food. Nice atmosphere. Nice looking restaurant. Staff are professional, give you space to enjoy your company. Reasonably priced. Bit dear if you add wine but worth it.

i have been at ballymac twice the first time I ordered scampi which was deep fried in batter and swimming with grease my next visit was about a month ago my daughter and 3 year old granddaughter went for lunch as I thought it couldn't possibly be worse than my first visit i ordered the chicken curry and rice when it was served the rice looked and tasted like uncle bens and the curry sauce tasted like packet sauce my daughters 4 chicken chill strips were placed on a bowl of stacked up salad so as to appear more and my granddaughters cheap looking burger was slapped on a dry roll wit anaemic oven baked french fries served along side to add insult to injury our main meals cost almost 13 pounds each and the childs meal almost seven pounds

Nice cosy feel to restaurant, seating area beside bar. The menu had plenty to choose from and also a specials menu.

Could not fault you . Excellent service/ staff superb and anything asked for was delivered . Food fresh and hot congrats to all the staff. Don’t do this often but well deserved Ballymac , a guest at the wedding . Stayed over room gorgeous and ready for my breakfast which was delicious and fresh xx respect

Over in Northern Ireland for work with a client and they recommended the Ballymac Hotel. A traditional style hotel a few miles from Belfast near Lisburn.

Hadn't been for food here in years and I must say that I will not leave it as long for my next visit. 7 of us were delighted at what we hadserved up to us and the staff were more than attentive and very poilte and service was exceptional. The food itself was plentiful and was piping hot.

Después de leer algunas de las críticas sobre la comida me preocupaba ir aquí. Éramos 6 de nosotros y teníamos 5 comidas diferentes entre nosotros. Todo estaba bien caliente, la comida y los platos. El pato se dijo que 'encantadora con una salsa de ciruela muy sabroso. El 2 que había carne asada dijo que estaba bien 3 rodajas gruesas de licitación y liberado en la boca. Pavo, jamón y relleno de pollo, jamón y el relleno y eran encantadores. El bistec era enorme en boca se funde bien cocinada, salsa de maíz pimienta crema y ricos. Un montón de patatas puré y selección de gran plato de verduras roasties trajeron cuando pedimos para ellos. Los postres eran todas muy buenas. Bueno apple gruesas y estuvó cremoso flan. Bueno y el calor naranja pavlova y pastel de chocolate que estaba para morirse. Aparte del aspecto desinteresado camarero gruñón tomar la orden de bebidas, el personal era agradable amable y atento. Alrededor de £27 por delante para la comida, té y café y desierto una ronda de bebidas. Muy buena relación calidad-precio.

Nuestra habitación era hermosa. . 4 cama con dosel y sofá, etc. La comida estaba bien. Mi pescado. muy soso. Comimos el menú de 2 platos y cuando le pregunté si en lugar de un postre voild. que posiblemente tienen un café en vez de calypso me dijeron que no. Esto me chocó como pido este para todos lados y yo decir que viajar y alojarse lejos en un montón de hoteles. Nunca me he negado antes. . muy decepcionado con la actitud personal y en general no era muy amable y acogedor, aunque no estamos desagradable. Quizás no volveré, de hecho. En una palabra. Decepcionó .

Like I said before ,ive been going on n off to ballymac for over 28yrs ive always praised it but on easter tuesday I was out driving with my husband n sister,it was around 2.30 we were feeling pekish so decided to go to the ballymac for a bite to eat .well the first time in a these years I have a nagitive feed back ,I asked could we have the rump steak half chip half salad as this is my favourite ,my husband was having a serlion steak my sister wanted something light so decided on chicken cugons,with salad n garlic mayo.the girl went to ask chef about the rump steak n he definately was,nt for doing it ,no matter what (first time this happened) but told young girl not to worry id just have the same as what my sister took I really dont know if they have changed their chef or not but defo did not enjoy .husbands steak very fatty, n for our chicken I could,nt work out if it was over cooked or reheated.as for the salad my god a few lettice leaves no nothing else not a tomatoe ,onion (nothing else) .I was that tired from travelling I could,nt be bothered to complain ,I was ready for home, saw carin but he was busy ,behind bar ,I knew he would of sorted this but needed home at this stage .I definately would,nt be rushing back again because it seemed like the chef could,nt be bothered,and I can understand what some other customers were talking about when they mentioned the staff ,they are all very friendly but to many standing over the top of you n seem to ask is everything alright when you,ve just put food in your mouth, first time I never even left a tip, I think the portion size was as though they,d run outa salad ,I went home n ordered a chinese, dissapointed very much but my other review id wrote about ballymac was praising it so much I think its fair that I right this review thats left me very annoyed.

Sólo nos alojamos una noche, pero no me puedo quejar, el personal es agradable, habitación limpia y cómoda cama, desayunar bien, así, en general, fue un buen viernes noche

Visitamos el Ballymac el domingo. Siempre muy concurrido y esto le da un gran ambiente. En primer lugar, el personal es excelente, amable y educado. Los propietarios, creo, en el caso de los clientes y hablando y trabajando en la habitación. Pero es la comida. No es la cantidad, porque hay mucha, es la calidad. Más allá de la resistencia, verduras cocidas rebanadas carne asada que están secas como cartón y con una apariencia gris. Tan desalentador como cada cosa es tan buena. Los postres son bastante buenas, bien presentado y atractivo. Tan cerca de ser un destino perfecto para la familia.

No hemos estado en un tiempo, pero decidimos llamar el domingo 1 de enero en la calle y fue genial sigue siendo tan bueno como siempre NO ES NECESARIO RESERVAR gran

It's not the First place that comes to mind for a quick dinner but it should be. Haven't been in a long time and kind of forgot how good it is. The food, all different menu is just old proper food well cooked. Lovely staff.

We had our wedding here on the 3rd June 2016 and my wife and I could not fault one thing about the hotel, the staff, and the food. The staff were very helpful, Jim in particular was a great toast master and made us feel so relaxed through the day/evening and the next morning. The bar staff were pleasant and the food was amazing, large portions to suit all our guests needs. The hotel was clean and well looked after. All our guests rooms were very clean, spacious and comfortable. We both would highly recommend this hotel for a wedding. WELL DONE OWNERS AND STAFF OF THE BALLYMAC HOTEL.

We visited this hotel for a wedding and stayed overnight. It was superb. The food was 5 star. The staff were excellent. The room was huge with ample facilities. The location is excellent with country veiws. We would recommend people to go and stay .well done Ballymac Hotel . looking forward to our next visit.

This was a good hotel for a short stay. Good size rooms plenty of room for hanging clothes,coffee and tea making facilities,good sized bathroom with great shower.The bed was very comfortable.Nice bar area with friendly helpful staff.

We went to a wedding at The Ballymac Hotel on Fri 6th May.. On entering on the red carpet, we were greeted with tea/coffee and beautiful heart-shaped shortbread. The atmosphere itself was totally warm and welcoming. We were then seated for the wedding dinner. The staff were very competent to say the least, they briskly served the starters, mains and desserts all in good time and everything was perfect . The staff couldn't be more friendly. The wedding itself was extra special as everything was perfectly timed. Thank you to all The staff at The Ballymac Hotel Stoneyford, we'll certainly be back for a meal again.

Had a christening party here for my son, the buffet was top notch and the staff couldn't do enough.. Impressed :) will definitely be back

My family and I have been going to the ballymac for years now and even though we live some distance away we didn't mind the long drive as the food was so nice. My son and I are vegetarian so always loved that there was around three options for us and we usually opted for the broccoli and cheese flans as they were delicious. Earlier this year we were disappointed to discover they were no longer on the menu and instead there was a tomato based veggie tartlet, which we both tried and even though it wasn't bad we weren't blown away by it, so we decided to give ballymac a miss and try other places ( we used to go once a week) After almost a year of not going we decided to give it another go and when we got there we saw they have only one veggie option which is a curry, my son doesn't like curry.So my husband and I ordered drinks and we all left.Why completely disregard vegetarians? I noticed the menu was pretty much the same bar the veggie options. Vegetarians like to eat out you know.We won't be back and it's a shame because we used to love it so much. I hope the management take this review on board because just having a curry isn't great in this day and age.

Myself and my wife visited the Ballymac for some dinner. I chose the fillet steak and my wife the sirloin. The steaks were absolutely massive, the sirloin was around 15 inches in length and the fillet filled the large dinner plate. Both steaks were very tender and and cooked to perfection (medium rare). This was accompanied by their legendary pepper sauce which is well known locally! An absolute must when in Northern Ireland!

Beautiful food, the portions are huge and most helpful attentive staff. Well worth a visit. We have booked our wedding here for March 2016 and cannot wait......if our meal was anything to go on then it'll be a fantastic day at a fantastic hotel :)

Attended the hotel for dinner. We arrived early and went into the bar to sit down for a drink. The waiting staff tried to usher us back out to the foyer with drinks to keep the tables free for people arriving for food although no showing reserved signs or even having a section of the grill for people to have a drink. I maintained that i wanted to stay in the bar and we would eat starters from the menu to hold a table, they agreed. We went through to a well appointed, warm restaurant. I noticed the menu was the same menu as the bar, pretty limited choice and a bit on the expensive side. We found the food was very bog standard and possibly made with basic ingredients e.g. side salads with the general cheap tomatoes as opposed to say sweet ripe cherry tomatoes and a nice dressing. We found it to be not really as nice as described if you know what i mean for the above average price. We got a steak platter between us and to be honest had way too much meat on and not cooked as ordered. All a bit messy looking and dried out.The waiting staff, friendly enough but a bit old school, sort of rushing you through the courses. They started tidying off the table even though one person hadn't finished on starters and mains. A bit rude if you ask me.Don't think i'll be back through choice in a hurry. You need to sort out some basics around service, food quality and price as there is better value and quality out there.

Our meal was great. The pub was packed and there were 2 birthday parties going on in the larger rooms. Even though the restaurant was busy, service was above par. Have eaten here before and will return

The Ballymac Hotel and restaurant is just outside Lisburn Northern Ireland just 20 minutes drive from Belfast , on the Stonyford Rd set in the middle of the country side,It's a olddworld style place.The meals are excellent the staff are great they can't do enough for you nothing is to much trouble,we stopped there on our ride out for lunch,next time you come to Belfast in your car give it a visit ,its on the Ulster grandprix course.

Food as always was great. Very busy which was good to see. Unfortunately after we had our mains we were asked to leave the table and go into the foyer........had only been at the table for 45 mins, even in larger more expensive restaurants you get a 2 hour slot!!!!!! At this stage we hadn't even decided if we wanted desert or coffee, was disappointed needless to say we didn't move!!!!

The last itme I ate in here was 5th January for my birthday. As always the food was tasty, well cooked and plenty of it. I have ate here on many occasions and have yet to find fault with it..It must be nearly time to go back again lol.

Went here for Sunday lunch and have to say after reading the reviews I was expecting so much more! Food was just ok everything was cool and service is where things really went wrong! Made feel unwelcome an rushed! Hanging round are table an spilling food on table as sat plates down, really uncomfortable place to sit would not recommend

Went there for a 75th birthday ( not mine) celebration for dinner. Service was attentive and the restaurant staff hard working. Food was above the average pub grub and prices reasonable. As its on the way to the International Airport its a good stopping off point. Plenty of parking.

I've been going here for years and I've never been disappointed. There is lots of variety on the menu, the scampi is one of my favourites. They also have a great childrens menu and the desserts are delicious. Great atmosphere, service and value for money. Love it and can't wait to go back next time I'm in the area.

Called in on the 3rd January as me and my Girlfriend were stuck for somewhere to grab dinner and thought we'd call in on the off chance there'd be a table. It was quite busy in the bar and grill and we were seated at a table for 4 which was good as sometimes a table for 2 can be quite small. I got the sweet chilli chicken and my girlfriend had the nicest sirloin i'd ever seen and tasted. Because we are young and look quite young (22) sometimes when we go out we don't get great service because of our age but every single member of staff treated us exactly the same as any other customer through the door. We'll definitely be back!

Excellent food, plenty of it & the steaks were cooked exactly as we asked, bounty cheesecake was amazing! Service was top class

Called in on way to Belfast International for a bite to eat and tried the T/bone . It was cooked to perfection, the staff were so friendly I didn't want to leave. What a wonderful place a real ambassador of a hotel for NI.

We go to this place alot and we are never disappointed. Love the roast dinners and the desserts are amazing. We love this place so much we even got married there. The staff are wonderful very helpful and friendly and very accommodating to any requests. The hotel rooms are very comfortable and there is plenty on offer for breakfast.

If you want a top quality down to earth meal at a reasonable price then do not go past the Ballymac. My wife and I have just returned from there after a Sunday evening meal. Despite its geographical location in a quiet country location the place was buzzing. There were lots of happy customers and an army of efficient, attentive, pleasant, good humoured staff. There is an extensive grill menu. The food was served quickly. Staff checked regularly to ensure everything was ok. We are occasional customers of the hotel and find that standards are always high but today trumps them all for quality, quantity and service. This restaurant deserves your custom.

One of my favourite places to eat! Food is always well presented, full of flavour and priced well. Staff are always very attentive and pleasant. Beautiful restaurant and hotel and the grounds which the hotel are set in are beautiful. Overall I would definitely recommend this to families, couples and anyone. I have visited for lunch during the week, dinner during the week and on weekends and every time I go I thoroughly enjoy the food and service.

Overall great, minus a few hickups. Firstly, myself and my boyfriend had never been here before so it was our first time. On arrival there was no clear indiciation of where the restaurant was. There was a visable sign for hotel but not for restaurant. So we went to the bar and the lady offered us a table, when we said we had booked a table we were informed that we were in the wrong area and she brought us to the restaurant (no other doors visable). Ordered our food, and there was no need for starters as the main courses were massive. Absolutely beautiful. I had the vegeterian curry and my boyfriend had the steak. Absolutely gorgeous, no complaints. I noticed how on each table there was a little tealight..just sitting there nothing coverering it, so I was hesitant of napkins being on the table..and within 10 minutes later, a young boy at the table next to us had set his napkin on fire, so maybe a nice candle holder would come in handy. Also, we had to move the flowers in the centre of the table as we couldnt see eachother. Whole experience was delightful, the dining area was lovely also.The only thing that REALLY annoyed me was when we were finished. The waiter asked if we would like desert and we said no, we'd just like the bill. He then came down with the bill, and as me and my boyfriend were getting our money out he came over to ask if we were ready...we said no..2 more minutes...and as sooon as my boyfriend set the money on the tray thing, the man had grabbed the money. We were finisihing off our drinks when another member of staff came to us to ask if we were waiting for somehting...we said no we are just finishing our drinks and she wallked away. Now bear in mind, there was 5 tables taken and alot more were free. We felt rushed so we left and nobody thanked us or said goodbye the way it is in most restaurants. Overall, the food and atmosphere was lovely. But we felt slightly ackward being there.

Just back from a meal in the ballymac haven't been here in years so we thought we would give it a try again and boy I'm so glad we did it was really nice and plentiful service was fast and pleasant and a very reasonable price for 3 people.

Having been advised the portions were large we skipped starters and it was a wise choice. The staff were friendly and helpful. They even prepared an item not on the menu for my partner.

I have been a regular at the Mac for years. We went for dinner earlier this week and the experience was superb. The staff are very attentive and friendly, and the food portions are huge. I have also attended weddings here and have never been let down. One minor criticism is, that as a vegetarian, I would like to visit on a Sunday and be able to have a Sunday roast, e.g. nut roast and veggie gravy, potatoes etc. Also, like most other restaurants, more veggie choice would be nice. But this is the only complaint, and the veggie food that is on offer is delicious!

We eat here lots but of late the food seems to be bulk pre-prepared. Heated in microwaves . Kept warm(dryed out). Our chicken maryland was really dry. The banana/pinapple fritter solid like freeze dryed! Seafood pasta full of very overpowering smoked salmon(last i heard they are freshwater).. no fresh ingredients.....staff were so apologetic but replacement meals were carbon copies( all pre prepared) ..giv it a miss till the chef starts cooking fresh to order..instead of staff filling plates from a behind the scenes buffet trolly.

Ballymac was a favourite of my dads when visiting Northern Ireland and now I understand why. We ate there on two occasions while visiting family. The first time there were close to forty family members and the service and food were unbelievable. The owners came to speak to us personally upon arriving and thanked us when leaving. The second time we went there for dinner there were eight of us ordering and once again everyone was pleased with their meals and the service provided. All time favourite of all my travels!

Went here for something to eat after a very wet Ulster Grand Prix. I ordered a "mild" curry and expected it to be mild. I was presented with a orange curry and rice. I had one spoonful of curry and my mouth was burning. Not what I would call mild curry. Not much selection of food on the menu since my visit last year. Too big portions as well. Would not recommend for someone looking for a nice meal out!

Went to the Ballymac hotel for a meal with my family. Was very impressed with the meal. I ordered the roast beef and my partner ordered the rump steak. All meals came with large side orders of potatoes, chips and veg, overall it was a nice day out, only down fall was that the hotel didn't have a cocktail list. Would book again.

Had a delicious meal where on Saturday and honestly couldn't fault any part of the meal or the customer service.The building itself is very clean and tidy.I had the steak and it was the nicest steak I've eaten in a long time. Also the portions are fantastic even the kids portions.And the desserts are amazing.Will definitely be back soon

Firstly may I apologise to the Ballymac for not writing this review years ago. It's been a regular haunt for Sunday lunch for at least 15 years and it has never failed to impress. I was there again last Sunday and it delivered the same good homely food at a great price with fantastic service. As I said, I've eaten countless times here and it's the ideal place if you're not in the mood to cook and fancy something tasty and wholesome. Last Sunday I'd my usual favourite of liver ,bacon and onions served with an intense, velvety gravy, mash and vegetables. Seriously delicious! Ok, liver may not float everyone's boat but there's a wide variety of dishes to choose from. One word of warning; the portions are enormous so be careful what you order; perhaps skip a starter if you don't want to explode! The best thing about this place is the service; polite, efficient and unobtrusive. It's a real credit to the manager that, despite changes in staff, that the same quality of service has been maintained. I can't recommend this place highly enough and is certainly worth a visit alone for the warm welcome you receive. I've eaten at restaurants where I've paid nearly 10 times as much for a meal and not enjoyed the experience a tenth as much.

Decided to eat here for our wedding anniverary, Well what can I say ,staff were friendly very efficent food was excellent. Great value for money hotel was spotless in all aeras. Staff are a credit to this hotel nothing is to much trouble .Thank you .

We have had lunch here several times. Friendly efficient service. Fresh ingredients full of flavour cooked simply and with excellent results.

We called in as we were passing and enquired if we could get a bite to eat. At 7.30 on a Friday evening we were met by a manager who was only to happy to offer us the bar or the restaurant. We chose the bar as I do to like my baby annoying other diners. The staff were prompt in serving us and the meal was very good. We ordered duck spring rolls and spicy chicken wings (tasty but not very spicy) followed by salmon and chicken roast. The food was very good and I felt very well priced. We thoroughly enjoyed it and had more than enough as portions are large. On leaving the manager was very attentive ensuring we were happy with our experience. The Ballymac certainly didn't disappoint.

My wife and I decided to try the "Ballymac Hotel"for a lunch today Feb 14th... the place is very good on both outside and inside, a good range of beers and wines, spirits. The menu looked good , so we had veg soup x 2, Lasagne an garlic bread for my wife and I had battered cod with mushy peas an chips.. my wife said too much basil in lasagne and no garlic on bread, she left hers, the best part of my meal was the chips ...I can.t say any more than that..... we wont be back again....
