5 star restaurant like... I went today to it and it is very very clean and tidy we ordered a carrot cake ,smoothie,double expresseo and a croissant and very thing was very amazing and excellent especially the double expresseo it was better the costo that's what's it's called I think and sorry costo this it better and yea that's it oh and when I say it's clean I mean like its very clean and surprisingly the toilets are like the cleanest toilet I have seen somewhere beside my house but 100% recommended.

Last visited late September 2023 for a ‘family hen do/wedding planning’ date with my mum, sister & Auntie for my wedding. Food was lovely, the waitress who served us was lovely, great decor. Would recommend. Lovely meal and really made the afternoon out with my family.

Have been here few times, but will not be returning...my husband and myself ordered 2 teas, and filled rolls each....tea was brought quite quickly to our table but that was it..nothing more came to our table..after half an hour of waiting for our food (there were no other customers in the place) I asked how much longer it would take as we didn't have a lot of time to spare..girl behind counter panicked and realised she hadn't sent the order off in the first place!!! She didn't tell us this but I watched her!! No apology made..no manners with any of the 3 female staff whatsoever...they just were chatting and putting in their "working day" as easy as they could...I honestly don't know how management can justify paying staff for this disgraceful service...food still wasn't appearing so we did something we have never had to do any where EVER we left!! Won't be recommending this establishment to anyone..

Have enjoyed coming to the Vintage Rooms on numerous occasions but after our experience today that’s me done. For the first 15 -20 minutes no member of staff was visible. When the manager eventually appeared and we said we had been waiting for some time to be served she argued with us claiming she had been on the floor all the time “except for the last minute”. When we asked if we could order coffees she was extremely rude and off hand and finally, when we stood up and said we were leaving, she simply shrugged her shoulders. No customer service whatsoever and appalling rudeness.

We attended the Vintage Rooms on Sunday evening to host a pub quiz for our dance school, Reign Academy of Dance, Hillsborough. I contacted the manager Keith regarding availability, and from the very beginning, he was fantastic. Keith was very helpful and accommodating and answered all questions. Nothing was too much. During the evening, Olly and Dawson looked after us, serving drinks, taking food orders, and helping with setting up the tables for the quiz. Their customer service was first class. Keith, Olly, and Dawson really helped the evening to be a success, and for that, we are very grateful.

Great wee spot in Hillsborough. The soup and wheaten bread were delicious. And the scones are class. Haven’t had anything I didn’t like yet. Friendly helpful staff & great food.

The service here is appalling. The waitress had no idea what was going on with the menu. No cutlery on the table had to constantly ask for the basics.Was served warm white wine asked to change it and was given the same glass back. Food wasn’t bad to be honest but service needs a serious overhaul.

Avoid. Service is not good. It is as if I opened a restaurant and had my children run the place even though they have no experience or interest in it. It is quite disappointing given that customer service in Northern Ireland tends to be excellent. Food was ok. But service is poor and the place is not friendly for people with physical disabilities.

Went for brunch. It was a group of 4 of us. Service was excellent, friendly and efficient. Really reasonably priced. So surprised to get fresh peppermint infusion. The pulled pork eggs Benedict was absolutely delicious. Complimentary tea and coffee with any brunch over £10.

Unfortunately, the food here is absolutely disappointing. I ordered pil pil prawns in garlic and chilli for my starter and they were completely tasteless. We paid £11 to get 4 prawns and a slice of bread with cheese. But my main concern is the special of the day the slow cooked roast beef bap. It was big chunks of beef that were chewy, covered in loads of fat and completely unedible! I had to leave hungry as I couldn't eat it. The staff took my plate to my kitchen and couldn't even charge me for my meal since she said I'm not the first to complain and there were others. On the plus side, the place is beautiful.

I do like the vintage rooms and the service is very good, along with the food. If you're lucky and have a window facing the main entrance to Hillsborough Castle, then enjoy the view.

2nd time here 1st time was great but on returning (new menu) I was left disappointed. £18.00 for a burger that was very small, no side salad, counted 5 chips. New menu is ok but not enough variety. Pretty disappointed this time around, would think twice about going back. Excellent service, staff very helpful

I booked Saturday morning breakfast for a group of 25 people. Staff were extremely helpful and we had full choice from the menu for our group. (This is often not the case for group bookings at other establishments!) In addition, when we placed our order 5-7 days in advance there was an outstanding willingness to accommodate individual preferences and all such requests were accepted. On the day food and service was flawless and everyone enjoyed the time chatting over breakfast and coffee. We were not rushed on, instead we were offered free filter coffee top-ups like every other customer. Simply excellent!

Service was somewhat disjointed. As we were a party of 12 so that's understandable, but the food was just very very average. Could compare it to Tesco's cafeteria. Definitely none of the items in the fry was of any better quality or local.

Spiste frokost her, bestilte avokado toast og smoothie granola bowl. Smoothiebollen var nydelig, fullpakket med gode, sunne ting, masse gode smaker og ulike teksturer. En favoritt.

Amazing value considering the quality of the food. Brilliant and perfect pint of Guinness to be had there also!

Terrible service, totally gormless. Waited ages for a desert before they told me thy didn’t have what I ordered, then proceeded to serve some one else who ordered after me . When the coffee eventually came with out the milk I had asked for it was in a dirty cup. What a joke, may be Royal Hillsborough now but still that clueless Northern Ireland service I’m afraid

Really enjoyed the breakfast here and so did the rest of my party. Food is cooked fresh to order and there are some really good options on the menu. The coffee is also great. Staff are friendly and attentive. The menu is not overpriced. What more do you want?

I went in yesterday with family for coffee and tray bakes. We waited 25 minutes to get our order taken and we had to go to the counter to ask if our order could be taken. Eventually our order came and brownies were tiny. We were in the cafe for an hour and still my daughters fruit shoot didn’t come having asked 3 times and also going to the counter to ask as well. The people at the table beside us got ordering before us and had received their food even though we were in first. My daughter received her drink when we were leaving. It was a very expensive cafe and service was dreadful!!

Stood at the door to be told lunch service would not start for 10-15 mins said were happy to wait however had to wait at leat 45 mins before order was taken. Asked for gluten free options girl had to check with chef however never returned. Had to walk down the stairs to find someone to take order still didn’t know what was gluten free so disappeared again. Over an hour before we actually received any food. Soup was watery and tasteless rest of food was ok but we felt unwelcome no offer of dessert or coffee don’t think we will be back.

We had an evening meal here, I have to say the place was very busy but the service was great. As for the food , well the menu was very comprehensive and after much thought we made our choices. The food was very well set out on our plates and am glad to say it tasted as good as it looked. I ordered a cheese selection for desert. The amount of cheese was very generous. Would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Really disappointing. We came here for breakfast which may as well have been lunch by the time we got our food. We ordered coffees and our food at the same time. It must have been 30 mins before our food came out, which was really only porridge and a veggie breakfast. We had our drinks finished by the time we received our food, so ordered a couple more. Which then only arrived after we had finished eating. So I ended up getting take away cups because it was all taking so long. My porridge was lukewarm and my husbands veggie sausages weren't great and his poached egg may as well have been hard boiled. There was also a lipstick mark on his cup that we only noticed after I poured the coffee into the take away cup. When we went to pay, we were ignored for quite a while. The whole experience was pretty bad, which is really disappointing.

Went here with a group of friends, 12 of us in total. Staff were excellent and the food was good.

The perfect spot for a breakfast or lunch date. The menu is excellent having a good choice of dishes that suit all types of eaters. Last week my husband got the jumbo fry and I got eggs Benedict, we both asked for amendments such as extra toast, sauce on side etc. staff were lovely and very helpful! I often go for lunch with the girls here too, they have an excellent selection and great drinks menu too! It’s a beautiful setting for food, lovely ambiance and in my opinion the best place for brunch in Hillsborough. If you want a tray bake but full, get one to take away to have with a cuppa later! You won’t be disappointed!

Disappointed with quality of food

Not very impressed. My wife ordered fish, and got chicken......🤔. I ordered a Steak and Ale pie and it looked and tasted like a Supermarket special. Also the prices are astronomical.

Called in for some lunch a few weeks ago with friends, including a couple of children & prams. On entering we stood waiting to be seated, our first interaction was a waitress informing us the table we were standing beside was reserved... And then left. When we inquired if there was a table free we were shown to a table, & advised wait time for food was 30 minutes, no problem. 20 minutes later our order still hadn't been taken, multiple tables arriving after us had been served food by this stage. When the waitress did come to take the order, we inquired if it was now a further 30 minute wait, the answer was "it depends on what you order", helpful. In the end we settled for a few coffees & tray bakes, which were nice. Overall, we were made to feel an inconvenience. The only perceptible difference between our table and other tables was the presence of children(under 2 I might add, not running around being a nuisance or screaming). Some thoughts for improvement: -If a table is reserved, put a reserved marker on it -Rather than giving a customer an initial negative interaction, maybe see if you can help -If you're showing someone to a table, & can see they have access issues (prams), maybe try to move a chair or 2 out of the way, rather than walking round them & stand waiting at the table. -Take orders from tables in the sequence they arrive. -If customers are that much of an inconvenience, just say there's no tables free & they'll go elsewhere. I see the majority of poor reviews are in recent history, & are largely around service. Staffing is hard to get at the moment, but what we experienced was a lack of service training & oversight. Not ground-breaking stuff I agree, but we weren't after ground-breaking experience.

Came with our walking group for coffee. I’m dairy intolerant and asked what was on the menu that I could eat. After the server checked I was told the only food available was porridge! I honestly thought in this day and age a well established Tea Room would cater for all allergies or food preferences. Very disappointed.

Slow service. Our group ordered at the same time, but meals came about 5 minutes apart. I had ordered the eggs benedict with the hollandaise sauce on the side, however, when the plate arrived, it was evident that the hollandaise sauce had been poured over the dish and then scraped off. Went for breakfast on Sunday morning, definitely one of the tastiest fry ups I've had for a long time and reasonably priced, will be back soon for sure.

The Vintage rooms fri 26/08/21. Very slow service, 3 or 4 girls walking in circles looking busy but def not busy on fri morn. Should've known on entering it was a mistake, we'd only sat down and a women with her son across from us sent her breakfast back as it was awful, apparently far too cold to eat. In the 15 mins it took for them to get us a menu we had seen a table of 4 get up and leave, another lady also got up and left, and she'd asked for a morning coffee and a tray-bake at the counter before she even sat down. She left 15mins later without any coffee any tray bake without any waitress going near her. Service was awful. On ordering breakfast, (after an age in waiting to be served), I asked for two teas one peanut butter on toast with almonds and banana and one mini fry, but I asked if it would be ok to swop out the egg for a sausage as I've an allergy to eggs. You would've thought I had asked her for the money out of their till. We cannot swop things on menu and bedsides, sausage was meat and not egg. This shocked me to find out that an egg is not meat. As it turns out the meat sausage was in fact pork. "OVERDONE PORK at that). Strange When we "EVENTUALLY" got our breakfast the peanut butter with almonds and banana on toast came without banana and four corners of the toast without any spread or filling. When this was pointed out to the girl, oh yess, forgot to say we've no banana's. My attempt to get a mini fry was also a disappointment to say the least. My egg allergy seen me cancelling my mini fry and ordering sausage beans toast n mushroom. Reason for changing was because according to the waitress their potato bread and soda bread used eggs in the recipe. Never heard of this recipe in tatty/soda bread before. Anyway, the two teas arrived 10mins after we had started eating and only arrived because I called a waitress to the table . Not one waitress asked at anytime if everything was ok for us. Slower than slow and will not be back unless changes are made. The Bill was the fastest thing they set down to us. Any doubts on what I've stated here I'm sure their CCTV will confirm all I have posted to be true.

Food good. Service dreadful. So disappointed. Dropped in for a lunchtime snack today. Served my requested pot of tea without milk and the croissant arrived 17 minutes later. Customers behind me were having same issues I spoke with a member of staff who said that drinks were always served separately unless otherwise requested. Well I should have been told this at the time. Croissant arrived with no butter no knife and no serviette. Sadly I had visited this place just over 4 weeks ago when service was equally poor but I was willing to give it a second chance as we all have off days

Read my review of tThe Plough as we actually ate in the Vintage Rooms. When I tried booking a table it came up as Vintage Rooms. Very disappointed in decor. We were given a table about 15 metres from a display counter selling sausage rolls etc. You felt as if you were eating in a Spar shop

Lovely place friendly staff and nice food

Great food, service and cost. We had breakfast this morning, pancakes and a mini fry with 2 gingerbread lattes. Took a massive scone home afterwards too haha. Great safety procedures in place and we'll definitely be back again soon for either breakfast or afternoon tea.

We manage to get a table even without booking on the day before restaurant closure. We had very good service and we were very pleased with quality of the food, portions, presentation and overall value for money. Certainly recommended

Stood at the entrance door what seemed like an eternity only to be ignored by a member of staff standing directly in front of us plus other staff walking around us, no hello no can I help you no welcome zero nada nothing after a while sat down again ignored resorted to calling to what may have been a manager to be “told off” for sitting down without permission not many customers however to busy despite numerous staff in view and empty tables, maybe talk to your customers, poor front of house and staff management sadly

I was expecting great things from one of the Plough eating spots and the Vintage rooms didn't disappoint. Was here for brunch. Had the eggs royal. Beautiful and always good to get a good cup of coffee. Staff were friendly and efficient and the service was prompt. Will definitely be back.

Date night with hubby was made to feel very special in this great restaurant by the lovely staff and delicious, tasty perfectly cooked food. We shared a mixed bread platter and I had salmon and my hubby had steak. We are definitely going back soon!

Went here for lunch a few weeks ago. Well we tried to go to The Plough but probably should've booked, we were directed here instead. The decor was on the random side, would suit something classier, and there was a bit of a wait but I have to say the food was pretty great and it wasn't expensive in any way.

We had a delicious lunch here and service was friendly and quick. Will come back again and again. Quality of food was fantastic!

Went with three friends for dinner. Choice of menu was vast and in fact we all had difficulty choosing our dishes! Food was well presented with plenty of flavour and taste. Service was great with friendly yet professional staff which is what is very important to me. We will be back

Went to a local market on Saturday and stopped at the Vintage rooms for breakfast. Wasn’t sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. Eclectic decor , friendly staff and good food. I had smoked salmon with scrambled eggs and herself had a fry . Both were very good and I thought great value . Coffee was good too.Will definitely return.

Only getting around to putting this review up apology.I held a business meeting (meal) in the vintage rooms on good Friday from walking in the door we where looked after hand over fist. This was my first time also using the restaurant and 5 stars is under rating this place.Cocktails 10/10Food 10/10Venue 10/10Staff 10/10Cleanliness 10/10Desserts 10/10Also one of the best blue steaks ever handed to me. Feel bad now I can’t remember all the staff that evening but will definitely be back to see Freddie and the team.Many Thanks

This is a lovely restaurant to pop into for coffee or a more hearty lunch. The menu was extensive and the desserts definitely added an inch or two to my waist line! The service was friendly and efficient.

We stopped here for breakfast on 26th January, and it was not a very good experience. We all had the mini breakfast.

Went for breakfast (for 3) this morning and got seated around 10.30, took almost 10 mins for menus to be brought over ... and this set tone for rest of morning! Took order at 10.55 and by 11.35 still no food, totally ridiculous as wasn’t that busy. When it did come there was no apology for the wait and was dropped off with no pleasantness from waitress. The food was ok, definitely had better for less from elsewhere so won’t be back. There was a table beside us that was free but had been booked for 11.30, 3 different sets of people had sat at it only to be told to move as was reserved, surely a sign would have solved this, especially since waitress seemed fed up telling the same story to each set of people. The staff that were there obviously wished they not as attitude was terrible and definitely not customer friendly. On paying I commented on very poor service and was given a half hearted sorry it’s busy answer. If this was service today I would not like to see it if it was actually busy!! Last time I’ll be eating here

Called in on a Sunday around 12:20. seated and order taken around 12:30. Only wanted 2 mini fry’s so nothing complicated. The restaurant was busy with cyclists but they were leaving as we arrived. By 12:50 we still hadn’t received our food but tea and coffee was brought out so we thought it must be just behind...eventually got our food at 1:10... if I hadn’t been hungry I’d have left! Food was good but it’s a mini fry at the end of the day! 40 minutes is verging on ridiculous.

My boyfriend and I had lunch at the vintage rooms today and our experience was mediocre. The service was slow and absolutely nothing special. The food was overpriced for what you got a apart from the flat breads and hummus which was really tasty. A lovely location, ruined by average service and food.

It says on their website that ‘The Plough Group are very proud of their new addition … The Vintage Rooms!’ And their pride is not ill placed for the Vintage Rooms are an excellent social experience focusing on great food and service. Derek Patterson and his staff are exceptional, seldom do you come across so passionate and knowledgeable a ‘foodie’ as Derek. The skill in which he offers up the best produce in the country side is only matched by his knowledge of how and when to use it.

The vintage rooms in Hillsborough is great. I have been for breakfast, lunch and dinner and it is a lovely place to go. Service is great and food is as well. I recommend it if you are ever near bye. It is great all round and is vegan friendly. I really recommend it.

Stopped for a couple of cocktails on a Saturday evening. Ordered at the bar and were told they would be brought down, waited over 40 minutes to have the 3 cocktails and 1 soft drink brought to us, would obviously have left had we not already paid! Half hearted "sorry we had a backlog" when the drinks finally arrived, thing is there was free tables everywhere...the bar was far from busy! Was even more annoying that the cocktails were of average quality at best, certainly was not a "potent blend of house rums" in the £11 drink I had chosen, our designated driver (who also happens to hate the taste of rum) along with the other 3 of us could taste no rum, genuinely think they might have forgotten to put some of the rums in, maybe with the amount of time that had passed they had just forgotten what we ordered. Needless to say we didn't stay for a 2nd and will not be returning.

Large group of people efficiently catered to by attentive and polite waiting staff. Delicious food, all plates sent back empty! Quirky, interesting layout to restaurant.

Lovely afternoon tea had here but have a couple of points. I had asked when we arrived what vegetarian sandwiches were on offer and the waitress told me egg and onion. I think they added an additional salad sandwich to the existing offering which was very much appreciated, but they had the vegetarian (meatless) sandwiches on the same plate as the meat sandwiches (and touching them). I’m not that fussy but I know other vegetarians who would have found this unacceptable. Maybe they didn’t make the connection but it might be something worth considering in future. The second point is that when we arrived it was assumed we were both drinking tea and we felt a bit awkward ordering a Bellini. Again, not a dealbreaker but something to think about in the future. Aside from that, food was lovely, service was good and they offered to package up the food we hadn’t managed to devour in a lovely box. Overall, we had a lovely afternoon.

Went to The Vintage Rooms for a family breakfast. When we arrived at the front bar the girl told it's there was no seats and to make our way downstairs and there are seats. We went downstairs and no seats but the girl seated is at a table for 2 gave us menus and said as a larger table became available she would move us. About 10 mins later we were moved and about another 10 mins the order was taken. When the order finally arrived it was wrong and had to go back, 5 mins later it arrived and then we had to wait until the knives and forks arrived but not all the order came. I was really looking forward to my breakfast but I was really disappointed. The service was awful.....to be honest a couple off people walked out while we were there. Very disappointed and definately won't be bank for breakfast again on a Sunday

Attended The Vintage Rooms for a wedding. A quirky bar with lights made out of Jameson Bottles! Service was brilliant, very attentive and served at the bar with minimal wait. Food was gorgeous and went back the next day for breakfast which was equally yummy. Toilets and venue really clean. Would highly recommend a visit.

Had a nice lunch, food tasty - quality over quantity. Pleasant surroundings - very clean. Staff efficient but not very personable. Toilets very clean - when you eventually find them up two flights of stairs with no signage till you get to the top.

We popped into The Vintage rooms in Hillsborough with family when we last time visited Northern Ireland and had a wonderful lunch there. We were seated and served very quickly. Each dish was nicely presented and I was so enjoyed the choices I made. The lamb with potatoes were exquisite and the sticky toffee pudding was absolutely delight. To my surprise every woman received a flowers for Mother’s Day at the end of the meal. I found it very sweet. I would highly recommend the Vintage rooms in Hillsborough for dining if you should find yourself in Hillsborough Northern Ireland.

This is a truly unique and beautiful venue with amazing local food at affordable prices.

Grrrrrreat food for any time of the day. We go for lunch at least once a week with my grandson (6 months old) fantastic variety of food to suit most people, all very tasty and good value. (average £7-£8 for a main) But the staff are what makes this a pleasure. Friendly and informed. And no problem with the wee man. Just a great afternoon out.

met up with family not seen in a few years, decided on sisters recommendation to visit the vintage rooms, now i used to dring in the Plough in the 1970's so it has changed a lot, the whole place has been rebuilt a few times and wherte the vintage rooms are now is in a 3 story building that didnt exist back in the day, in fact its where the toilet block was , if you can call a door way leading to a wall would be called a toilet. but now its a very nice atmosphereic building full of charm a lot of GIN and Vodka choices and not a farmers dog in sight. we had a selection of tapas and sampled a few of the various gins. very very nice evening all round

Decor lovely, scones perfect - warmed with cream and jam and not dry and crumbly like most places. Friendly staff with a homely atmosphere. Had eggs Benedict and my husband had the cooked breakfast, little on the small side but maybe we’re just extra hungry! Great spot for friends, couples and families. Can’t wait to come back in the evening time!

A recently refurbishment has improved the interior with a would-you-have-guessed modern take vintage feel. There are a number of small areas over few levels that suit 2 to about 8-10 people. Good spacing and sized tables are great for all.

Lovely venue, relaxing surroundings, plenty of space to spread out. Recently updated venue. Clean washrooms. Great breakfast menu, nicely presented, good service.

I always call into this restaurant, when I am in Hillsborough and find it to be a very enjoyable experience. First and most imporetantly, the food is excellent. Tthe premises are deceptively large and the staff are top notch. In fact, I was offered a tour of premises and was glad to accept the hospitality. I particularly appreciate the quirky touches in the restaurant and the various pieces of street art, which adorns the outside walls. Someone described it as a "great find". I totally agree and will be back.

Would never have known this restaurant was here but it certainly was a nice surprise.

The place to go on a Friday or Saturday night is the gin bar at the vintage rooms hillsborough Northern Ireland. There you will find Chris! Well there's nothing he doesn't know about gin, and for his young years his enthusiasm shines through with his job. A real asset to the vintage rooms! A very entertaining night, we will be back.

Stopped off here for brunch on the way down from Belfast to Dublin. It looks like quite a small building from the outside but it surprisingly has many beautifully decorated levels!

Had lunch here with family, menu had a great choice and all dishes tasty and reasonably priced. Staff friendly and helpful.
