I was looking for a place to take my elderly mother, I thought it would be a nice treat for her to have lunch away from the care home she lives in. I did half an hour of research online, looking for a cafe that was not too far away from her care home, that had local parking. I checked online and that this place had good reviews it said it was open now from 09:00 until 17:00 on TripAdvisor. I made an appointment with the care home and told them what I planned to do for lunch with mum. I want to collect her, we had a 15 to 20 min drive to the cafe and found the car park right opposite which was ideal. I park up then took mum across the road to the cafe to find them closed, with no sign on the door or notes anywhere explaining why??? I can NOT recommend anyone waste their time going to this cafe if they can't even be bothered to keep their online details up to date. We did find a great cafe next door Mcgregor's Coffee Shop it is called. Great food, wonderful friendly staff who kept the place clean.

A great wee cafe on Tollbooth Street, next door to the podiatrists. Such a friendly welcome. All freshly prepared. Great v menu. I was just in for a coffee, very good, and had to have a scone because it look as good as it tasted - I found out. Many thanks. John.

This place was a gem but unfortunately they changed the platters too many times. At first they were wonderful... both vegan and vegetarian. My partner and I sometimes took both or either and they were filling.... avocado, cheese, chilli, salad, curry, quiche... a bit of everything. Now the platter for 2 is sparse unless you like olives. There use to be nice cheeses on the platter.... now just 2 slices of vegan cheese. A shame, this place was great. I hope they go back to doing good platters.

Lovely wee restaurant; excellent service, and if you're vegetarian or vegan there's some really nice food on offer. I took some time to make up my mind; eventually decided on the Buddha bowl. It was absolutely delicious and looked so beautiful I had to take a photo. It's the best lunch I have had in a long time. I had my eye on the cakes, but so full I couldn't manage anymore. Price wise? Excellent value for money. I can't fault it, and will definitely be back for coffee and cake and lunch and more. Thank you ladies

I popped into The Bakers Field on my own after a swim at the leisure centre. I’d been wanting to try it for a while but understand it has been closed for some time due to flooding. Staff were welcoming and friendly. I had the soup and half sandwich and it was delicious. Tomato and basil soup followed by half a goats cheese, walnut and sweet jam. My meal was well presented on a slate with accompanying side salad and salad dressing in a small pot. I also had the cafes vegan equivalent of a diet cola and that was tasty too. I’m keen to go back and try the toast, veggie salad, poached eggs and avocado as it seems to be getting good reviews on trip advisor. There were also other delights on the menu. I’m not even a vegan but there were loads of different things to try. The cakes on display looked delicious also.

Visited with friends last month and none of us could decide what to have - the lady very kindly offered to extend the sharing platter to the 3 of us rather than 2 as the restaurant was quiet when we arrived (though it became much busier). It was very tasty and was a great way to try all of the different dishes. We then had desserts which were delicious, though my friend sent back his cake as due to it being the last slice it was dry. The staff kindly swapped it and we were really pleased with how they handled it. The cocktails were delicious and were very good value for money! All in all, would definitely recommend.

Went for lunch. Staff were friendly and attentive. The food was wonderful and the prices are very reasonable. I had avocado, vegetarian haggis and poached eggs on toast and it was sensational. The veggie haggis was much tastier than regular haggis. There’s a great selection of salads and I will be returning to try their Buddha bowl as I reckon it will be fab. Can’t recommend this place highly enough.

Warm welcome and great service by friendly staff. I had the poached eggs and haggis on toast which was cooked to perfection and the accompanying salad was fresh and crisp. A beautifully presented plate with a variety of taste texture and colour. Followed with the peanut butter cake which was mouth-wateringly good.

Hidden Gem of a place, best by a mile I’ve tried for a long time. The food is of exceptional standard, is this really a cafe ! Very creative menu. I had the avocado and poached egg, wow this was cooked to perfection and the presentation was faultless. Finished with sconce and tea, again faultless. Who is the chef!! The staff are brilliant warm friendly and attentive as is the ambiance. I defy anyone to find fault. Very few towns offer high end produce at affordable prices let alone cities. This will now be a regular choice for me. My compliments to staff and mostly to the chef absolutely top notch 👍

Visited for the first time in September on the recommendation of a friend. The pastries (strawberry and a coffee tower) were amazing! Can also recommend the oat shortbread and the Dundee Cake. Staff were friendly and everything was displayed beautifully. We had gorgeous weather the day we were there so took our treats with us to the cathedral.

Fantastic hidden gem, great coffee, and the food......mwah. Mini Canolli are £1.25 so if you've never tried one before, you can get a taster size at a reasonable price. The Ciabattas are made to order and very tasty, with a wide choice of fillings. The staff too are very welcoming and a joy to interact with.

Our tour guide recommended this restaurant for the best fish and chips. She was right it was truly the best fish and chips that my husband and I have ever had! We also shared muscles which were very good. Our server, Declan was excellent, he is a student at St Andrew’s University. I took the picture after we started eating.
