Waited a while for two suppers which was fine as it was a nice day. I usually go to other chippies so thought I'd try this one. I wish I had went to the other ones because the food was so oily it made us both feel sick. Not joking I had to spit the bit of fish out onto a napkin and tried to eat the peas which were fine but could not eat the fish. It looked delicious though, one other thing was the batter made it look like it was a thick bit of fish but when you bite into it there was barely any fish inside it. Anyhow I decided after feeling sick I would just bin it, when I picked the napkin up it was oil soaked, now remember this was from one single bite of the fish. That's a lot of oil if one bite has soaked a napkin. Unfortunately I won't be back. Near £30 for food fit for the bin which in this climate isn't ideal. I couldn't just go elsewhere and spend the same again, not to mention being put off due to the amount of oil. Overall disappointing experience that I don't wish to repeat.

Well food was less than average( greasy, old oil, mashed peas cold, members of team wearing gloves and with the same gloves touching face and hair, expensive too) ... Fish and chips along the road are much better. i won't come back.

You may find yourself queuing for a while with the Wee Chippy, but I can assure you it's 100% worth the wait. Probably the best fish & chips I've ever had, and all the extras are phenomenal (especially the battered white pudding).

Been here on several occasions and was always very good all round. Today was not so good. Service as always was friendly and welcoming. The fish was hot and tasty, chips were not hot enough and not crispy, pale. My partners mushy peas were cool. My coffee was cold , waitress explained that's how it comes out of the machine so she topped it up with hot water! Yuck, undrinkable. Next time we're in Anstruther we'll try somewhere else.

I can say for long time it's the best chippy in all great Britain unbeatable ((TRUE)) all food I have tried but today at back of 3 decided to sit in first time young girl long blonde hair told us 4 to wait outside 20mins later went back in young girl with dark hair did not no nothing about it but there was tables anyway Sat down and waited and waited gave up and sat out side 1 hour 30 mins later after waiting to sit down then deciding to get from side of shop 3 fish supper's pizza 🍕 super and all sides. But something was very very wrong fish was so thin not like it usual is and so over cooked not like this and had over 100+ supper's from what I thought was the best of the best I spent over 10 years in this trade so no what iam saying was the worst I have ever eating what has happened??? Hope you respond as just missed you at the ice cream shop where I said to a very nice girl she said she would say to you, "I hope this was a one off? From a concerned Scotsmanx (( thank you 😊 for your very quick response, very much appreciated, yes, I know what you are saying, but they have to understand product in all seasons and adapt like I had to with cooking but what I seen in shop and was served they looked not happy only one that served me was amazing she was so nice and understanding I said to her happy face anyway thankyoux

I visited The Wee Chippy in Anstruther and had a brilliant experience from start to finish. The queue for takeaway was about 40 minutes, but it was well worth the wait—clearly a testament to how popular the place is. Everything was professionally run and the staff handled the busy crowd with ease and good humour. I ordered the battered haddock and chips along with a single portion of scampi—and both were absolutely delicious. The scampi tasted like proper monkfish tail, not the usual cheap whitefish or prawn some places serve and still call it scampi. A generous portion of haddock, crispy batter, fresh chips, and even a seat by the harbour to enjoy it all—what more could you ask for? All in all, a great experience. I’d definitely recommend it and will absolutely be back next time I’m in the area.

So very disappointed. We had to wait ages on our food(around 40 minutes) and served someone with food who was in after us! We had our dog with us who was becoming a bit agitated with the wait. Food was ok but had a lot better here. . Disappointing.

Took us 40 minutes in the takeaway queue for them to serve a greasy and skinny fillet. It even made one person in my group sick afterwards due to the quantity of oil. If this is the best fish and chips in Scotland, I cannot even fathom imagine how bad the worst chips should look like. Mine went straight to the bin.

I would give this minus stars if I could, queued for 45 mins which was ok because a young man came out to take orders in advance. I mentioned my allergies (dairy and egg) and was told I would be ok but I still asked him to double check, 45 mins later it was my turn to be served only to be asked if I had ordered the gluten free because the regular batter contains my allergens either (dairy or egg). I had not so was told my order would take an extra 10 mins, when I said I had asked the young man to check for me earlier the fact that they were very busy was thrown at me as a reply. I was well aware as I had stood in the blinking queue. However my fish magical appeared within moments. However I wish it hadn't as it was disgusting chips were like yesterdays warmed up and the fish was dripping in oil so bad that I took them back and did get a refund. For a fish and chip shop to serve this is disgraceful. We will definitely never return. Also be aware that if you visit their face book page and leave a negative review they will remove it and block the reviewer

Had lunch here today. Easy to use website for booking table. Super staff, very friendly. Am very glad they did the dog friendly trial. Water and treats for dog as soon as we had sat down. Good menu, everyone's favourites, I had haddock today, but I can see haggis and battered sausages being tried in the future. Staff are all very helpful. They did some grilled fish for the dogs, which they loved. Good quality fish, not just the scraps that you wouldn't give to a human. Nice chocolate cake to finish off. The crab salad that went to another table looked amazing. Bill was prompt and accurate. I don't live far away, so this is going to be my "go to" chippy. Don't waste your money at the old "famous" one. The Wee Chippy won an award in 2024 and I can see why!

Really disappointing. We were in for a take away 20/04 at 8pm, 2 x fish suppers and a curry sauce which cost ~£26. As you'll see from the photo, I dont even know if that can class as a second bit of fish. It was a 10cm length of batter with nothing inside it. Chips were overdone and greasy as hell. Don't often leave negative reviews, but there must have been around 20 staff behind the counter but still somehow waited 25 minutes for this. Straight in the bin.

There is only one criteria for good fish n chips, and that's one where the batter is still crunchy till the last mouthful. And the wee chippy certainly fills that criteria. Good to see them stocking stokes sauces, they are the quality brand. Nice little sitting area out front, if Scottish weather allows. Although it does surprise me that chippies in Anstruther are surprised that people are ordering fish just before 5pm on a Thursday. So a bit of a wait (15 mins) till its cooked, but all Anstruther is the same. At least you know it's fresh.

Not the best I ever had for a fish supper for the money. One and a half bits of fish compare to the normal two bits of fish back at home. Fish was well cook and a very crunchy batter. I know Scotsman are tight. But three press of a trigger from a small water sprayer was a joke for the vinegar. Wife did not even taste the vinegar on her food. Two stars is down to the lack on vinegar. Get a proper vinegar bottle which can place a decent amount of vinegar on the food.

Total garbage. We queued for 45 mins expecting a quality meal, how wrong we were. There was hardly any fish inside the batter which was also dripping with grease, the chips were dry and not particularly hot, it was as though they were warmed up. For nearly £12 the fish was very small and thin and overall considering the awards it was a disgrace. And on their Facebook page you will notice that all the comments are positive, this is because they delete the comments and photos that they don't want the public to see that show it isn't always good, they then block you. It isn't as good as they make it out to be all the time.

Was here a year ago and was excellent, unfortunately on our return this year it was such a let down. Fish was fine but the chips were a disgrace, myself and my wife's chips were looking like the leftovers from the fryer basket. I would say about 80% of them were tiny and overcooked. When it came to paying I was not asked if I enjoyed it so I had to speak up and make my feelings clear as we had left the plates of so called chips (crispy crumbs). What was disappointing is that they left a very young waitress to deal with my complaint and no one from a senior position came through to apologise or witness the state of the chips. I was offered a 20% reduction of the bill from the young waitress after she spoke with someone at the back of the shop, I will be back to Anstruther on my annual visit but I won't be back here again. Update 5 days later, the owner wanted my email etc to investigate.. Heard absolutely nothing after giving my info.. Poor!!

As semi regular visitors to Anstruther we historically eat at the Anstruther Fish Bar. Today we through caution to the wind and visited The Wee Chippy. Simply put, that was a big mistake. 1. They got our very simple three article order wrong. Twice. 2. The food was very very much below average and not nearly as good as other Fish and Chip shops in the area. 3. We were given 3 bottles of out of date Diet Coke. 4. My partner has been left with pretty nasty stomach cramps after eating here. 5. The chips were dry and tasteless and greatly outnumbered by pointless crispy bits. 6. The fish was covered in thick greasy batter. One wonders if The Wee Chippy is happy to sell out of date Diet Coke, what else isn't as fresh as it might be. Don't eat here. Find somewhere else, be it local or otherwise.

We ordered the fish, chips and mushy peas, tea and bread and butter. The tea, bread and butter arrived 10 minutes before our food. When the food arrived we had to ask for cutlery, when the girl came back with our cutlery I asked if they’d forgotten the mushy peas only to be told that they’d run out and did we want beans? (7:30pm on a Saturday and out of peas?) As the food was already on the table we declined. The fish was lovely but the chips were luke warm. So disappointed. Fantastic chippy. We live local and it’s our go to treat place. My fiancée is coeliac and they have an amazing gluten free menu. The team are lovely too ☺️. A big shout out for the Frickles as well. 😋.

Unfortunately the battered fish was really greasy and the breaded fish was really dry. The chips were also underdone. Really wanted to like this place as I’d heard good things but unfortunately, just not for us. Perhaps we came on a bad day?

The best GF fish&chip I have ever had! I am coeliac and The Wee Chippy is well aware of gluten allergies and intolerances. I had the most beautiful experience! I highly recommended!

No acknowledgement from staff entering take away. Plenty staff but a bit of eye contact or acknowledgement would have been nice.

Incredible haddock fish supper, best I've had in a long time. Fresh crispy batter, cooked to perfection! Chips tasted amazing as well. Great service from the staff in the takeaway. Thanks very much.

Soggy fish and chips are never good. The fresh fish wasn't fresh, possibly frozen. The cod was very very thin.…questionable if it was cod or not. 45 minute wait for take out not worth it! Will not go back.

We have been coming here for years and always found it to be on par with it's more famous neighbours down the street. Not on this visit though. We had to have takeaway as we had our dog with us so we ordered two fish suppers and sat outside. Very disappointed with our meals mainly due to the batter on the fish being extremely greasy. As soon as you touched it your fingers were coated in oil. The fish inside the terrible batter was good though but bad batter = bad fish supper.

Good all-around experience. Went for breakfast. I had the full English. Nicely cooked fresh. The food was of a high standard, no cheap sausage or bacon. The staff were excellent. It was the first time I visited, but it won't be the last.

Ordered a takeaway this evening and was unfortunately spoiled because our drinks order was missed off.....so meant a trip back to get a refund. Peas were also cold unfortunately, didn't kick up a fuss as I'm on holiday. Drinks should have been complementary because of their mistake. Apology wasn't really offered. Shame as the fish and chips were otherwise excellent.

A few friends an I spent an enjoyable Saturday afternoon, a few beers, watched the footie, some more beers, dinner, a good yap solving world problems, and another beer for the road. A very warm and friendly atmosphere, good beer and good food.

Sushi was not cold and nothing really tasted like sushi from any of the places I've ever had it (30-40 times in the last 10 years). Imitation krab used as well instead of real crab. Haggis roll was alright, as was the tempura, but definitely not going back. Quality was less than supermarket sushi.

The veggie pakora was delicious as was the chicken pathia, the garlic naan and the rice. However, we had a dish of chicken tikka and a chicken tikka masala and they were not impressive at all. The sauce was extremely sweet, almost like a sweet and sour and there was no spice to it. Bland and sweet. So, 5 stars for everything except the tikkas, they were a 2 at best. Really nice people and service though.
