The best potatoes in town! Seriously. You can’t get fed quite as much yummy food for the price point they offer anywhere else in town. If you’re on a budget, if you need to meet a variety of dietary requirements, if you just love potatoes as much as I do! The Potato shop is a staple of Edinburgh. Love them!

Baked potato place without meat (vegetarian and vegan). Tried three toppings, they were all delicious (haggis, cheese/onion/pineapple and a spinach/bean salad). The potatoes could have been warmer. The place is quite small, ideal for a quick stop. The ladies were lovely.

So happy to find some vegan food to go easily! The curried corn was delicious, as I’m told was the vegan haggis. Exactly what we needed after a couple of whiskies on an empty stomach!

This place deserves to be bigger!! Just a little sit-in area, luckily I got a seat by the window. Great service with great food. The baked potatoes are very good size, two and half is standard. In the picture - baked beans, grated cheese and avocado salad 😋 And of course being in Scotland, Irn Bru drink.

we ordered 2 baked potatoes there's no more S or M size only L. 8 £for 2 toppings on potato kinda expensive but it was great haggis and mexican salad(a bit spicy) if no one's counter should ring the bell !

Amazing baked potato with an array of delicious fillings. Plenty of veggie and vegan options - we’d recommend the vegan haggis or the spinach salad. This place has the science of cooking the perfect baked potato down to an absolute tee! Not much seating but both times we’ve been we haven’t had a problem. It’s a little gem to fill you up in the heart of Edinburgh.

The food is amazing and affordable! The portions are very generous, I shared with someone else and it was enough. I recommend!

Muy buen lugar para comer unas patatas asadas rellenas. Elegimos este lugar por las valoraciones y acertamos. Las patatas estaban buenas y a buen precio, el lugar es pequeño, tiene un par de mesas pero suficientes para poder disfrutar de la comida.

베지테리안을 위한 가게! 매운걸 시켰지만 하나도 안맵고 느끼합니다. 현재는 메뉴에 라지사이즈밖에 없고 감자반개짜리 3 개가 나와요. 퀄리티에 비해서 가격은 꽤 높습니다. 감자를 매우 사랑하는게 아니라면 추천하지 않아요. 질려요 ^^*

Para mi es una buena opción para coger energía rápido y seguir paseando las calles de Edimburgo, tiene solo 3 mesitas para sentarse, pero está súper céntrico. La patata estaba en su punto Justo de cocción, puedes añadirle mantequilla sal y pimienta opcional, todo opciones veganas/vegetarianas. Pedimos Huggies vegetarianos y estaban ricos y chili (que dijo que picaba 4/10 pero que bah, picaba más). Los dos menus en total fueron 14,5£ por lo que el precio es súper bueno y las raciones tiene un tamaño ideal👍🏼 Los dos chicos atendían un poco lento para mi gusto, aunque fueron amables.

Riquísimo...nos encantó. La chica además era muy simpática y nos explicó como iba. No hay demasiadas cosas para elegir de relleno, pero está muy rico y de precio también está bastante bien.

Great place. Very small. The smell of baked spuds kinda lures you in. The food is simple but consistent comfort food, the portions are great and there's lots of options to choose from.

El local tiene espacio para dos mesas y dos barras (vista hacia la calle)… es pequeño, pero la idea es pedir para llevar. Pedimos una cheddar cheese y otra Chickpea salad. Calidad precio aceptable.

The man that runs this shop is the most nicest man. I came into the shop soaking wet from the rain and he was so kind and made sure I sat near the radiator. Really lovely potatoes, generous portions. Can't wait to come back.

The meal was filling and very tasty🤤yum yum....potatoes were cooked to perfection ...that is when you eat the entire potato....plenty of cheese and garlic butter....and the two staff members are pleasant and helpful ....highly recommend you stop here for a great inexpensive lunch break.🤗

I just popped in for a quick takeaway snack. A very friendly proprietor, tasty vegetarian snack ( although I'm not vegetarian) and quick service with a smile.

Hearty and filling veg and vegan baked potatoes. There is an abundance of toppings to choose from. Baked beans and Mexican salad was a nice combo. Maintaining a vegan diet while traveling is challenging, but this place was a gift from vegan heaven. The service was also exceptional. I wish I had gotten the names of the employees while we were there. The first day we went was quiet and cozy. The second day we came a rush came in right after us. The girl behind the counter maintained a positive and respectful demeanor while handling some VERY challenging, rude, and messy customers. She was working her butt off and we appreciated her ability to stay calm because we wouldn't have been able to. If you can make it in, do it! Especially if you're vegan or vegetarian.

Always a fav. Discovered this little gem about 25 years ago on my first visit to Edinburgh. Never get tired of their potatoes and banter. Great to have a good veggie place in the city centre.

Heard that this was a good take-away place so thought I'd give it a try. Arrived around 6:45 and was told by the staff that they wouldn't serve us because they were getting ready to close. Really? At 6:45? Just make sure if you want to eat here that you know when they close.

Was looking forward to popping by here as haven't been for a good while but was really disappointed shouldn't have bothered. Couldn't fault the two staff members but the spuds were woeful... The grated cheese filling was too hard to be able to melt a bit inside the lukewarm spud. Might be an idea to not have the cheese so "frozen" and guessing if had chosen all hot fillings the spuds themselves would have been warmed by this perhaps but surely a spud should be served piping hot regardless of filling chosen....

We ate here yesterday and it was absolutely delicious. We chose coleslaw and vegan haggis. The portions were very big; the food was delicious and the staff were really friendly. We ate in and the staff cleaned the tables as soon as each customer left. A very tasty meal which didn't break the bank.

As fully paid up meat eaters, a vegan food place is always a little worrying. However, we just had a great baked potato with chilli and cheese. Nice flavours, very filling and friendly service.

The potato was good and there was a good portion. The filings offered had a great variety.The potato with 2 fillings was £7.50 which was a little overpriced. Also they give a potato and a half for the portion which is classed as large and the only option . I would rather get a regular and pay less and eat less!They have a meal deal with one filling which is on the board but the markings are not clear on how to add more filings. Overall good and tasty hot lunch!

We went here on recommendation and were not disappointed. Easily overlooked, being small and off the main High Street, it is chiefly a takeaway but has a few seats and tables. Potatoes were hot and stuffed with fillings, of which there is a good range suitable for all diets. Friendly service and very reasonable prices. The slight negative was that wiping down of tables was not thorough or Covid-compliant.

Fuimos de casualidad a este local en el que hacen patatas rellenas asadas para llevar pero también puedes comerlas allí (hay dos pequeñas mesas). La comida es excelente, vegana y vegetariana, las raciones son grandes (no pudimos terminarlas y nos las puso en una cajita para llevar) y el precio bastante económico (17£ por 4 patatas gigantes). Los rellenos son una delicia y no son fritos, lo que se agradece después de descubrir gran parte de la gastronomía escocesa. Lugar muy recomendable! Volveremos.

Soy vegano y no pude encontrar ningún lugar barato en el centro de la ciudad y me sorprendió positivamente la comida. ¡Comí una papa al horno con haggis veganos y estaba realmente delicioso! El tipo que preparó nuestra comida fue muy agradable y comimos la comida adentro. Un montón de opciones veganas, un montón de opciones vegetarianas y también hay algunos postres.¡Puede una comida completa y satisfactoria por 10 o incluso más barata!

If you find yourself in Edinburgh (perhaps even during the summer festival which usually falls in August of each year) and are willing to spend a little for lunch and avoid the usual macdonalds or fast food, I recommend you try the baked potatoes for 'Baked Potatoes Shop 'offering baked potatoes stuffed with various ingredients that everyone decides on the spot! I have tried stuffed with onion and cheese (the yellow orange that you find only in Scotland!) A potato is a meal, practically, a viable alternative to macdonalds! The store is located in Cockburn Street, which is one side of the Golden Miles (descending from the Castle you will be found on the left side in a curve of the Golden Miles).

I’ve been going to this shop for 10 years. This place USED to be amazing and I would bring all my guests here to try the potatoes. I was proud to show this shop off to my friends, not anymore!The shop has recently undergone a well needed refurb but it has totally lost its charm and filled with uniform seating and grey walls. Why nothing on the walls? Why aluminium seating? In the past you’d get the choice of potato size- small, medium and large and the portion size actually reflected that! The toppings were plentiful and you could compliment your meal with a vegan cake - where have these gone?The new sizing is not what it was. The large simply isn’t, it’s a normal sized potato. The extra large- they just choose a slightly larger potato. This place used to have customers queuing out of the door for its portions and toppings, not now and there is a reason why. To pay £6.99 for a regular sized potato with 2 toppings is steep. This business is losing customers due to ripping customers off now. Potatoes aren’t expensive and bulk buying the toppings isn’t expensive. Either charge less or give better portions or you will continue to see your profits dive.

This used to be my favourite place to eat in Edinburgh and have been going for well over 10 years now. We left feeling upset that this shop seems to have lost all the charm and uniqueness that it once had. Now selling chips?? The refurb has completely taken away all the character the old place had. Blank, grey walls and tacky furniture replaces what used to be a cosy atmosphere with a rustic vibe, despite the lack of seating which never really bothered me anyway. Thankfully the fillings were much the same although the portion size was not. There didn't seem to be any clear description of what each filling was though (used to have a big board with all of them all on).Although the potatoes were nice they were certainly not as I had remembered. A "large" potato today would probably be the same size as a "small" when the "small, medium or large" options were available. However, the price remains the same and what used to be good value for money made me feel slightly ripped off (and embarrassed as I wasn't the one paying). Over £12 for 2 potatoes seemed unjustifiedWe sat in and were presented with the potatoes in a small bowl/dish with metal cutlery which matched the unsightly interiors. The service was fairly nice, not very chatty but polite nonetheless. Unfortunately they had the music a bit too loud which slightly tainted the experience more, not to mention them skipping songs every 5 seconds from downstairs as we ate. In the past when I've sat in the place has been buzzing with people flowing in and out. It may well have just been a quiet day but not a single person came through the door as we were in there. The place just looks and feels like your bog standard takeaway now.When telling a friend about the changes later in the day they asked if we would go back and unfortunately with a heavy heart I had to say I don't think I would.

I lived in Edinburgh a long time ago and was visiting this weekend for Christmas shopping. I made a point of visiting the potato shop because it used to be my favourite. The potatoes are cooked to perfection for my taste, soft and fluffy inside and well cooked but soft skin. I got cheese and soured cream and my bf got cheese and beans. They're really not cheap for what you get to be honest, £6.99 for a large potato (big but not gigantic) and 2 fillings. I don't think you get your money's worth if you get the basic fillings like we did. Still an absolute gem of a place to get a good lunch, just be prepared for a queue on busy days!

Outsanding customer service, as long as you get the young Female potato-expert. Highly recommended! Came all the way from Finland to eat these tatties. Best combo is XL with Veggie chili!

When we arrived there was a sign saying there was a wait for potatoes and we were glad we did. The baked potatoes were great and perfectly fluffy. They have a large range of veggie and vegan toppings and they give huge portions of them. Perfect comfort food.

Fomos lá buscar para jantar no hotel . Peça para ver a batata e escolher tem L e XL . Devo dizer que a L é enorme ! Escolhem o tamanho da batata e se querem 1,2 ou 3 recheios . Pedimos com 2 . Foi 6,99 . Com 1 é 5,99 e com 3 é 7,99 . Mais de 2 parece me exagero a não ser que peçam a XL . Para quem gosta de batatas a murro ou assadas no forno é excelente. Comida boa e barata!

I love baked tatties! What a delight tae be recommended to The Baked Potato Shop. Nice tasting large tattie with amazing vegan bean salad (so so delicious) and hummus. Tattie was nicely seasoned too with a proper crunchy skin. Home bakes made on the premises too, highly recommended the vegan tiffin. Great shop for a takeaway, tremendous service by the young gentleman. Most certainly will be returning for a great feed.

We went here more as a curiosity than for a good meal. Our potatoes were huge and they were not very expensive. There are many toppings, most of which (to our American tastebuds) were both odd combinations of food and also things we would not normally put on a potato. But we enjoyed it. The service was fast.

Hier bekommt man, wie der Name schon sagtn Kartoffeln. Die Füllung kann man sich aus einer Auswahl an verschiedenen Salaten, fleischhaltigen und veganen Alternativen selbst aussuchen und ganz nach dem eigenen Geschmack gestalten. Einziger Kritikpunkt: Leider gibt es nur einen Tisch mit vier Stühlen. Die Kartoffel ist also eher to go zu kaufen.

Auf die Idee muss man nur kommen. Im Mittelpunkt steht die Kartoffel. Das drumherum wählt man selbst aus und kann alles miteinander vermischen. Scharf ist zu empfehlen und mit Cheddarkäse

2 years ago we were there and it was very good. This time overcooked potatoes, just awful. I teturned one plate and got a new one, same thing.We wont go back.

The toppings available were not what I expected. I would have been happy with cheese, ham, bacon, sour cream or the like. These were ready made (tuna salad, coronation chicken, etc.). The potatoes were large and the toppings generous. Just one employee, so it took a bit of time to get it all ready.

Terrible Customer Service !- I went to the shop with my family that came from out of the country - I had to translate the toppings which took less then 3 minutes - there were no customers behind us ! When I had asked which topping he would recommend, I was advised in a very aggressive voice to ring the bell when I am sure what order I would like - I had smiled and rang the bell to place my order - when I had started speaking he threw the items he had on the counter and I had asked him why he was not happy and I was advised to leave the store immediately and i would not be served ! When a coworker came up the stairs to ask what we would like he advised him to not serve us and cursed us going downstairs ! This was a very upsetting experience for us and my family and I wanted to address this with the manager - I had contacted the team 4 times over Facebook messenger for over a week and was not provided with a contact person - I am sure your potatoes are amazing but being thrown out of a store for asking for help is upmost upsetting and very sad for an establishment which has such a good reputation since this is how businesses also can suffer since staff that is treating others this way is not acceptable ! I hope this will get addressed !

Recommandé par de nombreux guides, ce petit resto street food propose des pommes de terre copieuses avec un large choix de garnitures. Vous en avez largement pour votre argent, mais l’adresse n’est pas incontournable (la qualité n’est pas vraiment au rendez-vous). Dommage...

The potato looked and tasted like it had been in the oven all day, dried and burned to a crisp. The restaurant itself was dirty and rundown. Total waste on money.

Very very generous with toppings. My wife had the baked potato with cheese and baked beans it was huge she could not finish it all. Although I did not have one myself I tried hers and it was very nice.

Un pequeño lugar donde se sirven enormes papas con una buena variedad de rellenos, todo vegetariano o vegano. Tuve la ensalada de frijoles, que era muy sabroso. Es un buen valor y te llenará. Debido a su ubicación, le falta un poco de lugar para sentarse y comer, pero si tiene que caminar un poco, le aconsejo que lo lleve a los jardines de Princes Street, a los que puede llegar caminando alrededor de las 7 - 8 minutos.

Endroit recommandé sur plusieurs guides et par des avis pour son rapport qualité/prix, ce fut franchement pas terrible. Les pommes de terre étaient réduites en forme de bouillie. L'endroit est sale et le serveur nous a pratiquement mis dehors pour laisser la place.Nous étions 4, personne n'a aimé.

Not a bad place if you're shopping the Royal Mile and you want something different for lunch, this isn't a bad option.

This place is a lovely healthy option to have when out and about in Edinburgh. There are a good variety of topping options, including a lot of vegan options. Only small complaint is that the potato was a little soggy.

The Baked Potato Shop is on Cockburn, just a few steps off of the Royal Mile. We had this place recommended by friends, but didn't plan on trying it. Then... there it was... right when we wanted a quick lunch, so... This is a tiny shop, with only one table inside for dining, most people eat outside as they stroll. We were lucky to get there 15 minutes before opening, but they let us in and so we got the only table! Basically, you order a potato (one huge potato!) and the hot or cold topping of your choice. The potatoes are wonderful, toppings good, atmosphere priceless! The walls are covered in avant garde posters for bohemian cafe entertainment, giving you a sense of being in the Haite Ashbury District of San Francisco! OK... this is not a place to go for great dining. But it is a place to go for a kitchy dining experience for fast food, without the MickyD fatty foods! Definitely an experience that we enjoyed.

My friend (an omnivore who also had the vegan haggis) had been before and demanded we go for lunch. I was blown away by the options for vegans, and the vegan haggis did no disappoint. The potatoes are huge and buttery soft inside, with lovely skins. The haggis is nutty and spiced beautifully, perfect on a drizzly day walking around the city!

We are vegan and there are a few options. I had a baked potato with baked beans and it was just perfect. Not a big place and very little room to sit, but on a sunny day you can take your potato to go.

Potatoes were nice and soft (there's nothing worse than a hard potato) but the price is a bit steep for what essentially is a potato and cheese.
