The Bailey Bridge in Christchurch

We’ve used this Table Table for breakfast on many stays, and Jorge & Eda are always very friendly and attentive. So sorry to learn of the closure of this location.

My husband and I visited twice for breakfast as we were staying at the Premier Inn. My husband uses a mobility scooter and both times we visited, Eda (front of house) made us very welcome and made sure Matt had everything he needed. She was cheerful, friendly and very helpful. Many thanks!

The average rating is due to my wife's disappointing main dish, the Beef & Ale Pie, which looked like a store-bought version and not even a good one. Our fellow diners finished theirs more or less but without any compliments. All that said I don't think any of us were expecting a Michelin-quality meal but what we did have fell short of our limited expectations.

2nd time been here, we came in and I asked if any tables it was full the foreign waitress could not accommodate a family of 6, i went and told my family but they said were go on website and book they have a table forn10 mins time . So went back in got our table . Waitress informed us it maybe 30 mins wait . We ordered our food and drink same time . All out within 30 mins excellent food and the girl who served us was excellent

As usual with our yearly reunions, we would normally have booked a table for up to 7 or 8 people, this time we needed a table for 5 people To make matters simple this was, as usual booked under my name and after a few drinks in the bar, we were shown to a smallish round table in an alcove somewhere - could have done with a somewhat larger table. But so good,so far! A few years ago (2022) we received dreadful service in the bar by some rude and unhelpful bar staff and the service in the restaurant wasn't much better - so after making a complaint and speaking with Lucy the new restaurant manger last year (2023) who promised faithfully, that if we came back, everything would be perfect. We came back, and Indeed as promised, everything was perfect! There were 8 of us for dinner and we had impeccable service, we all had a fabulous time.. and the food was very nice also!! thanks to Lucy for her professionalism. This year I called to hopefully speak with Lucy again, only to be told by someone called Miguel that she had left. I explained our "annus horribillis" of 2022 and stressed that we hoped, in Lucy's absence, that he would make sure that our evening would once again be another success. Miguel also told me that he was now the "restaurant manager" but I was informed on the night that this wasn't actually the case at all! So.. anyway all fingers firmly crossed for a positive outcome Dinner: I can't quite recall what we all had, some of us had the steak and ale pie , some had the fish pie, which I was told was "ok" and I had the "new Thai Green Curry" (I'm a bit of an expert) and I have to say.. I have never never ever seen such an awful sight of what was presented to me.. Yes it was green ... very very green, mainly due to the copious amount of peas and broccoli tender stems. There was hardly any chicken but there was a large dollop of sticky (very sticky) rice and the whole plate was horribly dry without an inch of liquid. They'd obviously not used and/ or completely forgotten to add the coconut milk in the new recipe.. it didn't taste anything like green Thai curry . I suggest , that you quickly take this dish off the menu.. it does NOT resemble a green Thai curry in any way shape or form...such an insult! Breakfast: well this was a joke! One of our party kept being asked if he had paid or not,...as he wasn't on "the list" the interrogation went on and on and on.. and a queue started to form behind us.. (not professional) eventually he was allowed in.. Then, it was my turn.. I was asked for my name and room number at least 3 times and kept being asked if I was on my own. I told her , I am one person in room such and such for 2 nights.. just me on my own with nobody else!! After the 4th interrogation, I told her I was done, and walked into the restaurant only to be stopped and shown to a table laid up for 4 people.. I think I could have managed that all by myself.. breakfast was sort of ok.. but certainly not the usual nice cooked breakfasts in fact it was disappointing Cut a long story short, the following morning we encountered a much friendlier welcome and it transpired that some client(s) staying In the hotel gave his/her/their room number the same as mine! Anyway it somehow all got resolved, plus my friend who was interrogated as to whether or not he had paid , was let in to breakfast with a smile .. and no doubt that "problem" also got resolved Would we come back next year?? The jury is out, and a joint decision was made ... "No thanks" was the collective answer. So bye bye Table Table .. you won't be seeing us again

Nice attending service and nice, delishes food. Drinks arrived very quickly and hot food followed very shortly after.

Had a meal at the Bailey Bridge last night and it was excellent, the barman (Dan) was very friendly and welcoming and gave great service thank you. The meal which included a steak & salad, mixed grill and fish & chips was perfectly cooked and delicious and the waitress was incredibly efficient, friendly and helpful so we will definitely be returning. Thank you all very much.

Stayed in Premier inn next door, ate in this attached restaurant, the food was cheap and plentiful, the staff all excellent- friendly and efficient. Especially Eda!

Second time we’ve been just recently, food very good, and both times we’ve had Keats as our waitress, she is simply amazing, very good at her job, will definitely be back again, and hopefully have Keats serving us again. Also what is really nice, is that the tables aren’t crammed in, you have nice space between them, which is helpful for dad with his walker, so well done.

We have breakfast here at least once a month and would like to thank the staff especially Eda who is always friendly and efficient. The cooked breakfast is great value and you can have as much as you like and the coffee is endless too. Would definitely recommend.

A lovely meal with sister and mother. 2 meals offer gives lots of choice. The smothered chicken and chilli potato were excellent as a the spinach and ricotta cannoloni. Full marks to Tara for enabling my sister to take advantage of her blue light card on the third meal. Nostalgic as my late father used to work at the Ministry of Defence site that used to be where this restaurant stands and my mother cared for Sir Donald Bailey at the Highcliffe Day centre in his latter years. We will.be back no doubt.

We came down to visit a friend and came to the Bailey Bridge for a meal. The food and atmosphere were good, but the waitress Keats made the visit all that better with her personality.

I come down to The Bailey almost every Saturday. My daughter loves coming here for lunch, she is waited on like a princess by the staff, especially by the fantastic Keats- she goes above and beyond. Great clientel, food and atmosphere. If you're looking for somewhere to go in Christchurch, definitely don't hesitate to check this place out.

Dropped in here for an unplanned Easter Sunday visit whilst being in Bournemouth for a weekend break with my wife from Essex. We decided to stop here for a Sunday roast however , because it was an Easter Sunday we thought we would have trouble getting a table but surprisingly the place was quiet and I did wonder what does this mean? Is the food or service rubbish? Couldn’t be more wrong if I tried!! Our waitress Keats was very helpful without being too pushy and was polite which seems to be too hard for certain establishments these days! I have to say it’s a food restaurant designed for speed of service and efficiency which sometimes suggests food quality takes a back seat but this was not the case at all. We had a three course meal, Goujons to start , the large roast with extra gammon and the knickerbocker glory for dessert. All very acceptable and prices were very competitive which also makes a nice change as there seems to be so many places which have put far too much on their food prices since Covid, All in all a good few hours spent on holiday Sunday afternoon in a relaxed and quiet environment although strangely quiet for me but I don’t understand why……. Certainly not complaining!!! Well…..One complaint was the men’s toilets which were blocked and leaking but this was probably down to it being a bank holiday weekend( hopefully!! )🙏🏼 Well done to the table table team and big thanks to Keats!
