The Baguette Bar in North Dorset

My baguette was far worse than a prepackaged supermarket sandwich and that’s saying something not to mention that it cost twice as much! I should have taken the hint when I saw the sign ‘cash only’ - nothing says low budget quite like it.

I had a coronation chicken on brown bread - my young son could have made a better sandwich !! The bread - verging on stale was from the very cheap end of the bread range and the coronation chicken, unpleasantly gristly, was unceremoniously plonked in the middle of the bread and not spread to the edge - so when eating the edges and corners were just bread. No hint or offer of salad either. Definitely poor poor quality.

Whilst visiting Shaftesbury I parked up and my daughter noticed this sandwich shop and as it was lunchtime we decided to have a baguette each. There is a good selection of fillings available and the lady working there was very pleasant indeed and as the shop was quiet we had a good interaction. The baguettes were very tasty with a generous filling, the baguette itself was very tasty. I would recommend this establishment.

Working just over the road and popped out for a quick bite. We walked past it once as it did not look particularly inviting from the outside. We gave it a go and it was like walking into a friends get together with everyone welcome. They had run out of baguettes so I opted for a sandwich instead. Nice sandwiches with generous fillings and good value. It is busy but fun and the sandwiches are great.

Love the baguettes here, but always left disappointed by the attitude. Last time left without the baguettes I wanted, today sent away full stop.

I popped in for a baguette for a late lunch, and although the food was fine, the service was severely lacking. There was a board with several options, but no indication that some were no longer available. The person that served me did not seem interested in offering any suggestions. I felt I had to guess what might be available. Maybe I just hit a bad day, but I don't feel inclined to visit again.

freshly made to order sandwiches and baguettes ..... freshly made tea ..... worth every penny ..... a nice little find tucked away near bell street car park ..... friendly staff .... what more can I say .... we will be back
