Even a good selection of gluten free beers. Both meals were fantastic. Could not fault anything. The atmosphere is really chilled and a lovely place to eat. Good value for money. I was starving that rainy day, so opted for a fried breakfast. Everything was very nice. Super crisp hashbrowns (nothing sadder than a soggy one) The home made sausage was a particular standout item. My girlfriend had some sort of French toast with sweet chilli, which she throughly enjoyed. The menu looked very tempting. Friendly cheery staff.

Food was mediocre. Sounded incredible on the menu, and waitress recommended my choice so I ordered the breaded chicken boa buns. They came with an undressed slaw and a drizzle of sauce on top. It lacked moisture and flavour, even with extra sauces, but I ate because I was hungry from travelling. Beer selection was incredible, and the beer I had was a gluten free IPA which I recommend. The the waffle chips were nice and crispy. Atmosphere is laid back and I get the industrial aesthetic, but personally I found the many adjectives to describe “toilet” written in the stairs off putting to read while eating. I felt the servers, although nice, lacked professionalism, as it wasn’t hard to overhear their personal conversations to each other. I also found their overly nice schpeel a little scripted and inauthentic when paying. It was ok all in all. Wouldn’t not recommend the place, just personally felt it didn’t deliver.

Bach-up..... We were recommended this cafe by some friends, the menu looked great but what followed could have been better, I had the beef tacos which were delicious but my daughter's guinea pig eats more, the milk shakes were on point and the selection was 👍 chips and cheese or should I say chips and cheese slices possibly some slight confusion in kitchen but it definitely was a first and had to be returned..... The waffles were probably the best part of the meal....

Poor service, slow, unorganised. Food very poor, the Korean chicken and waffle bland, waffle undercooked, and overall underwhelming. Fish taco, really just three fish coujans on a taco that reassembled cardboard. Salsa with it relatively tasty. We also had tater tots that were incredibly greasy. Coffee however excellent, but overall not good value for Money.

The place, food, and coffee are lovely. The Bach is Nice. The food options are a bit different than your usual fare, so it's great to check out, especially as the menu changes slightly now and then. Menus can be seen on their website. Vegetarian, vegan, and dog friendly. You have to go up a couple of steps to get in. Lunch time can be very busy, and as a result, you'll be waiting a while.

There are some really tasty options on the menu so we went for brunch on 2 mornings to try some different things. Coffee was great - we ordered it and it arrived within 5 minutes on both occasions - the orange juice is in a huge glass too. The food was really good. On the first visit we had Turkish eggs and poached eggs on toast. On the second visit we had the Hebridean Benedict and the Bich of the Bach (veggie breakfast). Both days the food arrived really quickly and it was hot and delicious. It's a nice airy space with some quirky touches. And I resisted the temptation to buy some Timtams on the way out. Would recommend.

THE GOOD & THE BACH 😩 Lovely building & polite staff, nice vibe about the place. We came as a family, mum, dad & daughter who is severely gluten allergic, this was highlighted to our server before & during the order process. Food arrived & on contact it was apparent the gluten allergy had not been communicated to the kitchen as our daughter bagel was the exact same, you know a GF bagel when you see it & due to the severity of allergy we are extra cautious. On checking with the kitchen it was confirm is was indeed incorrect which could have resulted in a visit to A&E! They did remake it, sadly we were finished our meals before our daughters came out which spoilt the whole experience. On leaving I was given the bill in full which I settled, afterwards I did say I felt her meal alone should have be complimentary or at least a token gesture made but absolutely nothing was given from The Bach, defo missed a chance to improve the customer experience & avoid the negative review. Its a shame we will not return, great food tho.

Disappointing. Had the full breakfast: mostly okay but the bacon were a few pathetic overcooked strips. Pretty poor for 10 quid. But worse was being told twice we had to vacate the table (you’re only allowed 90 minutes apparently). After being swiftly seated we were summarily ignored for over half an hour with no one taking our order. When ordering we were told they had run out of tofu, the only reason we had chosen The Bach as we needed and wanted vegetarian options.. Once we finally ordered drinks arrived ten minutes later (a pot of tea and a tin of orangeade - the orangeade was not what we ordered but we were so thirsty by this point and it had taken so long for them to serve us we just drank it).. and then the hour long wait started for our lunch. Drinks finished and we were still waiting. A member of staff eventually came up to apologise and we waited another fifteen minutes. The veg burger was luke warm, the chips were roasting hot and the poached eggs on toast were literally that - two plain eggs - not runny in the middle but cold and firm, with plain dry toast. No salad. No butter or marg options.. nothing. It was quite honestly a pathetic excuse of a meal and to be charged as much as we were is an affront to even the most mild mannered of people. They couldn’t even bring themselves to ask us how our meal was when we went to pay. I think they were afraid of the answer in all honesty. I had absolutely no idea how they get such good reviews. I would NEVER go to The Bach or recommend it based on our experience. I rarely do absolutes but this is one time I am certain.

Bach serves a really interesting niche in Dundee and it’s great to have it here. It’s a large place that feels very cutting edge. Admittedly, it’s a bit of an odd-duck in terms of product. It is somewhat New Zealand themed, welcomes large groups and has a a fun, unique menu. While I heartily recommend it, it’s not as simple as saying ‘you have to try their Kimchi fries’ or ‘their specialist filter coffee makes it worth a visit’: it’s more a combination of the food, staff, ambience and location that make this a five star location. If you’re in Dundee, especially with a larger table or want something more than muffins and sandwiches with your coffee, visit Bach.

It was awkward then out of the blue we were told, when our coffees (post brunch) hadn't even arrives that we'd have to vacant our table in 10mins. My coffee didn't taste right, like the milk was off but they insisted it was fine and that it was down to individual tastes! It was busy and the feel of the place was positive. The food here is generally pretty good, I have been numerous times and usually pretty happy with the quality and speed that the food is produced. Staff are okay, pleasant enough but nothing standout in terms of customer service. That being said... it must be the only place I have ever gone to where you cannot order a glass of water! They only let you fill-up the tiniest glass from one of the refill stations around the restaurant and will not let you have a bigger glass. As someone who only really drinks water, this is a huge put off for me going back in future. I thought I maybe had a picky server but this has happened 3 different times now. Very disappointing visit today. As you can see food was very good but they would not serve coffees at the end of the meal because our time was up and they needed the table. 90 minutes were allocated and we were still well within our booked limit. The waiter went to the manager to explain this but was told he could not serve coffees. This seems to be an issue since on a previous visit a similar issue come up but this time we were later because our main course was delivered to the table late for which they apologised. Despite this being their fault we were still asked to leave without further service. Pity since we meet there as a family throughout the year. No we wont be bach again.

Oh my word - this place is amazing - and the portion sizes are bang on. Chilli beef on toast is my fave brunch item, along with a lightly roasted drip pour. They've modified the menu a little and have added (or I've just noticed) banh mi. The dirty cheese burger looked small but was really filling, and the portion of fries could have easily fed four. Just been in October 2023 and noticed they have chicken and waffles - crispiness works well with the buttery sweetness. Also, a wasp flew into our milkshake and it was replaced no question asked - did I mention the milkshakes are great too?!

The food stated with an offensive attempt at shakshuka with raw unseasoned tinned tomatoes topped with underdone eggs, wet white and all. The “warm salad” consisted of lazily chopped, undercooked butternut squash plopped on an upsettingly small portion of wilted spinach. The few other components of this alleged salad were made up of a total of three cherry tomatoes and chunks of pickled beetroot that were mummified beyond recognition. The hummus was the best part and even that was lumpy. Sad attempt at what could’ve been some very nice food had anyone in the kitchen actually known how to cook. They also have the audacity to have an automatic tip when customers are made to serve themselves their own tepid water from a communal dispenser. One of the toilets was blocked and the bathrooms were clearly not regularly looked after - especially unacceptable for how early on in the day we attended. A real miracle this place is still in business.

Don't know what happened to this place. Used to be excellent. Certainly isn't now. Food poor. The fun welcoming atmosphere absolutely gone. Having to go up to the till and order and pay each time you want another coffee ( or anything else) is a pain. Why can't it just be table service? Servers not all bad but they are not great either. They used to be excellent. Very disappointed with my last few visits. Time to go elsewhere.

Este café ha cerrado. La cafetería ofrece una variedad de productos libres de gluten para comer en el restaurante o para llevar. Por desgracia ya no es abierto.

Excellent wee cafe ,a hidden gem with a great selection on the menu, we ordered the tuna melt toasties, and we were not disappointed, very generous fillings with side of salad and crisps. Pot of tea and a black coffee. Staff were very friendly. The place was very tidy and clean. Excellent all round.
