3 Session Street in Dundee City

Got voucher for birthday, which was 3 courses! Great choice on menu, food was fresh, well presented and delicious! Not somewhere I would have gone for food, but pleasantly surprised and would go again

Went here for my birthday, the cocktails were amazing, we got a list of cocktail that's had many options and variations definitely something for everyone with the choices. The member of staff that was with us was very informative and helpful in describing the cocktails he knew what he was doing, he was very professional and he met our every need (he supplied us with alcohol 🤣🤣)

After some searching around for good places to eat we found 3 Session Street to be a top contender and decided to give it a go, so booked a table for 7pm for dinner. We arrived and got seated within a few minutes, initially I was confused as there was a hen party going in and out of the bar area, I soon realised they do some kind of cocktail class experience for groups, for me it felt like I was sitting in the middle of someone else's party. In any case service was really slow (around 1hr 10 mins to get our mains) , I think the hen party cocktail class distracted the staff from paying attention to the diners there to eat which was a real shame, we sat with empty glasses and no mains until we eventually caught the attention of a staff member and I explained our frustration at being ignored, from this point on our food came quickly and the service was excellent. It is a real shame that our experience was not a positive one, the food was excellent and the staff showed they could be really attentive when they needed to be. If I was to give any constructive feedback I'd say keep the cocktail classes & the evening diners separated to ensure both get an uninterrupted and pleasant experience.

We had an Itison deal, 2 courses each. I had mussels in marinara sauce, mussels were difficult to get into and tiny but the sauce was lovely, the sauce and the lentil soup were the best parts of our meal. My fish was in too thick batter, the chips were burnt and the raspy pork belly resembled bits of bacon thrown into over salted mash potatoes that were a strange colour. Highlight was the cocktails we had. If I was paying full price I would have expected a refund!

He says, it was empty inside. 1pm on a Saturday afternoon and we were the only ones there. That said, staff were friendly and the food, the usual pub grub, was much better than expected. Cocktails were great but TBH while there was a large selection, there wasn't much that I'd want to drink. That said, I'd like to go back when there are people there. She says, lovely staff and really nice food (apart from the burger served on a slice of wood, I'm part of the "plates not slates" brigade" Bartender made my favourite cocktail even when it wasn't on the menu. I would go back happily if there was some atmosphere with people!

Looking through these reviews it feels like they’re either really tough customers or went to a complete different place… Drinks are lovely and interesting with all the different flavours, techniques and imagination on the experiments they’ve made to give them their own perfect kick! I’d hate for people to see these reviews and miss out on such a hidden gem… If you want penny cheap fast food go to a take away, if you want penny cheap drinks go to a pub, if you enjoy a bit of class and appreciate a good environment definitely come here! As for the staff all lovely people who put a lot of hard work into their jobs and have a passion for it, I found out lots of interesting things about different drinks and techniques from there that I’d never find from another bar.

Fantastic place, the most knowledgeable barman in Dundee, Alex guarantees the best service. Every single time, the man knows the bar inside and out, regular or visitor, this place is a must stop for a good night in Dundee. Regan the manager, by merit shows his presence, absolute gem of a lad, the lads will give you a professional walk through of any spirit behind the bar. A 5 star experience with the patter that would make punter and well off alike come away feeling like they’ve had the best night of their lives.

Such a good deal and experience. We got a deal that was cocktail making with pizza and a side to share between two. Four of us went and it was a great laugh plus cocktails and food were fab!

Went for an afternoon tea and were very disappointed....no fresh coffee ( or even a cafertere ) , small amount of sandwich’s, bought in scones that were stale and bought in cakes. Atmosphere was noisy and the decor could do with being redone. Outside was just the same cigarette butts all over the place. Not impressed at all. Won’t be back.

Service is good but the cocktails are unfortunately rather mediocre.

3 Session street really hit the mark when it came to our wedding reception. The staff was so friendly and accommodating, they helped with everything we asked for and more. The food provided was very delicious and selected specifically for us, our guests keep talking about how tasty it was. The venue was decorated to perfection, I couldn't believe how beautifully pulled together it was. They also went above and beyond by working with multiple vendors for us, DJ, photobooth, decor, etc. They took all the work from us so we can just relax and enjoy our special day. Everyone who attended had a wonderful time, and wished that more weddings would be as fun as ours. It truly was the best day of our lives, and we will be cherishing the memories for the rest of our lives. Thank you so much to Gordon and the 3 Session Street team for everything you have done!!

Shambles of a venue. Booked an Itison voucher, booked a table via their website (even confirmed by the booking system) then made all of my other arrangements to attend. I then contacted them on Instagram to ask if they were dog friendly and they realised they couldn't actually honour my booking because they'd booked out for a private booking. Had I not contacted them I'd just have arrived on the day and found I didn't have a table. Total waste of my time and effort. Seems others have issues with double bookings too. Don't waste your time.

We were gifted a cocktail making experience at 3 Session Street and I won't lie, my expectations were low. I have a a few years of bar experience behind me and have also attended a few of these sort of "classes" but this was different. The staff were all very friendly, not pretentious, easy going and very knowledgeable. Good start... The cocktails themselves, although known favourites were a little bit different and super tasty. Ingredients I hadn't heard of blended in a slightly different way than normal and all with delicious results. We stayed after the class and had pizza and fries to share, the skin on fries were some of the best I've ever had, not greasy, crispy and fluffy on the inside -yum! The duck pizza was different and while I'm glad we tried it I couldn't eat a whole one myself, very rich and filling. The cocktail menu is divided into interesting sections with unique takes on classics as well as interesting flavours for all palates from sweet to boozy. Highly recommend for the service alone.

Great experience, great staff and great afternoon

Disgrace of a place.... We got our bottle of wine with 2 dirty glasses.... The girl took the glasses away and it took her 4 minutes to bring us back "clean glasses" that we saw her polishing for ages behind the bar... (4 minutes is a long time to sit and wait at a bottle of wine with no glasses) I'm also not convinced they were clean glasses (why would she need to wipe them up for 4 minutes if they were clean or not the original ones we sent back) the girl was very unprofessional and unapologetic, like we were the inconvenience!! there was a group of 18 year old girls screaming at the bar our whole time there having a cocktail masterclass but they also had full reign of the dj equipment and playing horrendous music really loud from the speakers directly from their phone.... Again not professional at all and no consideration to others thinking we were off for a nice experience. (pictures on itison very misleading to what type of place this is) The place was freezing too! Who wants cold red wine?!?!?! If we hadn't purchased an itison deal we would of walked straight back out! The worst experience I have ever ever had in my 36 years! Management also refused to issue a refund via itison, pretty sure if he/she received such service they would of been quick to complain!! Disgraceful place!

Let down for our Christmas Party when arrived as they "double"booked. Very disappointing

Pub was dead, next to no alcohol but it was a chill night and the staff were awesome.

Staff here are incredibly knowledgeable about the drinks they have on offer and went out of their way to help us both pick something different from our usual. Food was good especially the duck nachos and macaroni cheese bites. I could take or leave the halloumi fries to be honest but that’s more a case of my person taste. Would recommend this place to anyone.

This was an itison cocktails with pizza voucher. The cocktail class was really good and staff were friendly and clearly knew what they were doing. On negative side - it all took a long time, and then the pizza took a ridiculous time to appear. I see now from other reviews that this is routine - if you are here for same deal would suggest you ask for the food after 45 min or so, so that you aren’t sitting around waiting for a very unexceptional pizza…

Excellent knowledgeable staff and a fine curated selection of spirits. The vibe has changed since 2020, it feels cold both from temperature & the atmosphere, and little niggles have crept into what was an excellent run bar. It could just be an unfortunate series so will update accordingly.

We visited with our grandson for a pizza and wine ITISON deal. Everything was excellent!!Lovely pizzas-pepperoni, duck and margherita - and fine wine. The two gentlemen we met were a real credit to the establishment-very helpful, personable and professional. We are sure to return in the near future.

Received an Itison Voucher for Afternoon Tea and have been trying for weeks to get a booking but no one answers the only way to book is by email Surely if they are taking your money then they have to honour bookings I tyhink a line to trading standards and Itison is in order

Nice place, waiter efficient and appeared to be the only staff member more most of our time there!. Had to wait 90 mins for food but we were out for the afternoon anyway. Starving and almost finished wine by the time food came. 1st pizza was good, 2nd one slightly burnt but edible, both were tasty. Wouldn't put me off going again as I felt it was more a staffing issue which hopefully will be addressed. I may not have been happy with my visit if I hadn't had a voucher which was good value. Place was quiet when we arrived at 1.15pm but soon filled up, everyone seemed to be Itison deals which have to be booked in advance so surely staff should be planned accordingly.

Food was undercooked and when we raised this with the manager he wasn't interested, we had eaten a quarter of our food and the attitude was that it can't be that bad if you've eaten some of it.

I was given an Itison voucher for Afternoon Tea with a glass of fizz for two people for my Christmas. The venue doesn't have a phone number and you have to email to book. After three emails sent over more than a week with no responses, I eventually sent a message via Facebook Messenger and was told they had been having problems with the emails. I booked a few weeks in advance, but a couple at the next table when we were there said they had had the same problem that week, so it's obviously an ongoing problem. Not great to have a business with no phone and dodgy emails when you're being told the only way to contact them if via email. If I hadn't had the voucher I would have given up and gone elsewhere. I had been here before for afternoon tea and thought it was good - a bit different, but the food was good and the cocktails excellent. This time I thought the place was looking a bit tired - two of the four cubicles in the ladies loo had no doors (!) and the tap on one of the sinks is missing bits. The whole place just looked like it could do with some tlc. There was one young waiter/barman who was lovely but clearly rushed off his feet trying to deal with people arriving, taking orders, delivering food, clearing tables and making cocktails all at once. We expressed our sympathy for how busy he was and he said it was always like that. The sandwiches and brioche rolls were tasty enough, as were the scones with cream, but the cakes were a huge disappointment. There were two of us and we got some tiny (really tiny) pieces of cake that looked like they had come from an individual cake cut into maybe quarters and the chocolate eclairs were so small you could eat them in one bite. Plus points - nice savoury food and really good cocktails. Minus points - very difficult communication, not enough staff, disappointing cakes and the place is badly in need of some maintenance.

We went in for an aperitif. We liked what we saw but can't comment on what it's like when it's busy as we were the first ones in on a Sunday night. As you'd expect we got plenty of attention. Cocktails were delicious it has to be said and at about £8 each they were fairly priced. Decor and furniture is in pristine condition. This is somewhere to go in Dundee that is classy, i hope to go there again sometime soon.

I’m not sure what I wanted, the helpful and intelligent bar staff catered to our quite specific requirements! Fantastic cocktails, amazing service and all with a flirty smile! Me and the girls absolutely loved this and will 100% be returning again!

We had a fantastic dinner at 3 Session Street. We purchased an ItIsOn voucher. We weren't expecting much knowing the previous incarnations of the establishment and not being a massive fan previously. We were however incredibly surprised at the standard of food and atmosphere. Iain, our barman/server, was polite and friendly and recommended a very good bottle of rioja. It may be the most expensive on the menu and not served by the glass but it was worth the money! We ordered the charcuterie, which consisted of a selection of cold meats, each very distinct and enjoyed with fennel and pita. Normally I'm not a fan of fennel but it gave great flavour to the meats. The vegetarian Haggis tater tots were enjoyed with a chutney, which was not too rich and didn't distract from the main attraction in the serving. My personal favourite of the selection was the ham hock bon bons which melted in the mouth. Juicy and complimented with a sweet chilli sauce/jam were wonderful. Sichuan chicken had a nice kick to it and was worth ordering. Hamshucka was a fantastic Spiced mince served with creme freche and pita and gave a great addition of spice to dinner. Overall the experience was fantastic and although 3 Session Street is often thought of as the wrong side of the street and a little off the beaten track I would recommend it to anyone looking for a high standard of food at a good price. We didn't get the opportunity to try the cocktails on offer but we will definitely be back soon and expect an equally high standard of cocktails.

We went for a cocktail making experience which was great and excellent value for money, and I'd really recommend it. The price of drinks otherwise is a little high in my opinion but a good place to start your evening. Also they don't offer any virgin cocktails/mocktails on their menu (That I could see) which is a shame if you're the designated driver. However, our cocktail guru for the evening did help me make up some non-alcoholic cocktails which was fun and our group had a great time.

World class bar. Imagine taking the best of Scotland and hints of world renowned bars and placing them into an informal cocktail lounge. It's a sight to behold. Anyone who rates this less than 5* hasn't been out of Dundee and experienced the real world.
