Didn't stay at the hotel, we were a visi ting team as part of a snooker tournament's. The bar staff and Steward were very friendly, helpful and happy to help. The piat match buffet was sausages, chips, curry sauce and two rounds of bread. What's not to like? Oh, by the way, we won 4:1. 🏆

I have never stopped overnight at the Avenue and lodge, so this is why I have not rated that part, but I have had a meal and a drink there. We held my sisters wake there last year and their catering was really good. I have also eaten Sunday lunch there and the food is excellent there. The staff are very nice and always helpful.

Don't judge a book by its cover. Good rooms, food, and price

Horrible...if you like mold, noise, the smell of beer, go for it! No joke, holes everywhere, in the walls, ceiling, bedroom door, mold in the bathroom at all the joints (where there are still some...) cobwebs everywhere, dirt on the walls and floor, uncomfortable bed, the worst: our cups of coffee for the morning not even washed... we stayed for 1 hour before fleeing

The room wasn't refreshed for ages. Mould in the shower cabin and ceiling. The carpet was old, well used. Needs general refurbishment.

The staff are very friendly and the location is good - c. 20 mins by car/taxi to the city centre. However, the rooms are really not passable, even at this price. The bed sheets conceal mouldy mattresses; the windows harbour mould; the bathrooms are ridden with mould and other signs of poor cleaning, and they smell foul, which is no surprise given that the shower cubicles are not watertight and there's no working ventilation. There are some nice touches - ample towels, complimentary chocolates, mints, and shampoos, and a working TV (albeit with iffy signal). The hotel is also in a very quiet area - always a plus, especially if you're travelling for work. Overall, though, there are too many basic failings for anything longer than a one-night stay to be bearable. It is a shame because just a little investment of time and money would easily bring the place up to a much more comfortable standard. At the moment, it's definitely not 3-star.

The lady on the check in desk was really lovely, super pleasant and talkative, no fault with her. Despite this, this room was not to a standard to be expected from a 3 star hotel. Holes in the walls and the door to the bathroom, wet floor in the bathroom, strong smell of cigarettes in the bathroom and mould covering the ceiling and all throughout the shower. Mirrors weren’t cleaned as there was a clear imprint of someone’s lips and nose in the centre of the mirror. They provided towels and complimentary body wash but due to the state of the bathroom, we were not willing to use these complimentary items out.

Wonderful venue to enjoy a drink with friends and family, Lovely staff and friendly sociable customers, out of all the drinking venues in Selly Oak area I rate The Avenue Cub highly. £40 for a room is highly competitive. The Manager TJ and his staff ensured our evening was most pleasurable. Will be my go-to venue next time I visit friends and family.

The hotel was okay, rooms were a little small and not the cleanest. Not best value for money at the price we paid and WIFI was pretty bad. Staff were friendly and the place was reasonably quiet

OKAY, please understand that this place is set for the price, so you are not going to get the Ritz's Hotel But what you get is comfortable accommodation, with no thrills

Arrive to the receptionist using the F word to some one . The room felt cold and damp and the carpet was stained, shower room was mouldy. Left despite no refund ,decided we would be better sleeping in the car if we couldn't find anywhere else .

Grab a shawarma with chicken wings. Chicken wings are nice and drizzled with sauce. Shawarma mix with salad and a few chips. £6.50 for wrap or £5.50 naan. Tasty food and great service. I did ask for cheesy chips but only got chips, and I wasn't asked if I wanted naan or wrap. I did expect better quality in the meat in the shawarma given its Turkish cuisine, so I may order something else next time. That being said, it was still good to taste and no major disappointment with the food itself, but I did expect a little more Service was good, greeted well, and asked about my day along with sauce preferences

The chef told me....They bought Spring rolls and Fish cake from Tesco frozen and cooked for customer ( it's only £1 per pack) . If the food wrap very tidy you must sure it's bought from cheap shop.

The main issue, is the service from front of staff on a Friday, as this is the day i generally visit. You can stand waiting to be acknowledged for over a minute while they continue doing what they are doing before they have look up and ask you what you want. Food is generally very good apart from the bacon, in the bee fast which always appears it’s been cooked on a dirty plate After three visits having the same poor service I will not be visiting this establishment again.
