Came here for the 50% Tuesday and I was really disappointed. The food was stone cold, definitely had been standing on the side for a while. I ordered the vegan burger with cheese and the cheese was burnt off. The pub and the staff itself is great, been here before for food outside of Tuesday and that’s been great. Must just rush food out on Tuesday.

We booked the private room at The Avalon in Clapham for a special occasion, and wow—what an experience! Sophie who helped us book was great and always replied in good time to help From start to finish, the service was outstanding. Despite the pub being busy, the staff were always on hand, ensuring we had everything we needed. Drinks were topped up without us even having to ask, and the food was just as impressive—delicious and well-presented. A special shoutout to Kevin, who looked after our group of 22 with incredible care. Nothing was too much trouble, and he made us feel genuinely welcome throughout the evening. Too often, people only leave feedback when something goes wrong, but this experience deserves recognition. The team at The Avalon absolutely nailed it, and I’d highly recommend them to anyone looking for a great venue with top-tier service. Thank you!

Terrible existencia del día de Navidad. Larga espera para la comida (a 2 horas de sentarse) con tres niños pequeños y una anciana. Incluso ajustar para Navidad fue una espera inaceptable - toda la comida pre - pedido con semanas de antelación. Una vez que la comida llegó, los filetes de carne eran extremadamente raros y en gran medida no comestibles. En general, la experiencia del almuerzo de Navidad extremadamente decepcionante.

Communication with Sophie was impeccable, she did excellent at making sure everything was clear and concise. Service was excellent, as was the food. Venue was lovely, the only reason for four stars out of five was because the music was a bit loud

The beer garden in the summer is so good and this place on a Saturday night is one of the best in the area

Visiting a relative in Clapham we went to the Avalon for lunch. I had the steak in Guinness pie from the specials board and a pint of Harvey's Sussex Best. The pie was excellent, filled to the brim with perfectly cooked meat in a crisp pastry case. My pint of bitter was spot on obviously a well cared for cellar. The staff were all very friendly and gave excellent thoughtful service. I would highly recommend the Avalon to anyone in the vicinity wanting a good meal and a pint.

A group of 7 of us visited for Sunday roast. We were not disappointed . We had various things , the 3 meat (Beef, Chicken and Pork) roast was really good . Veggie roast was good , as was the fish . The waiter staff and bar staff were great , friendly and always about if we needed anything . I recommend this place for Sunday roast. I have also been during the week and menu is good .

Perfect Location and amazing Sunday Roast. We went with friends and family on Sunday afternoon. We tried all the type of meat (Beef, Chicken and Pork) and we cannot say which one was the best. All of them were super tasty. The sides vegetables were cooked perfectly and the Yorkshire pudding freshly made, was superb. Staff very attentive, cordial and professional. really clean environments. Our favourite Sunday roast. <3

Cold and a bit empty when we visited - the epitome of average!

Had my birthday for c.30 people in the courtyard and both the setting and service were excellent. Preston couldn't have been more helpful in making sure everyone was looked after. Only small comment would be that there are no speakers in the courtyard, so may feel quite quiet compared to the inside area.

Absolutely love this place, it’s our local. Great food, staff are awesome. BUT SINCE WHEN do they charge entry on a weekend? Now not a good option when you just want to head down the road for a pint or late dinner, or one on the way home from a night out. So sad!

Met family for food and drinks. Service was great and the staff were very attentive. We ordered starters, mains and desserts.

10/10 Had my birthday there last weekend. Can only recommend it. Excellent service, food, drinks, location and atmosphere. We booked the table in the back garden, amazing mood and location. It was lively and vibrant yet laid back. The communication was great as well with Sophie who helped fulfilling all our needs. The croquettes, wings and pizza are to die for.

A nice pub, close to Clapham Common tube. It’s got a nice large beer garden however on our visit the weather was crap. Our group of 7 ordered a range of peoples from chicken burgers to a salad. Food is fairly typical pub food, most things are fried or covered in breadcrumbs, and showing the football next door means you occasionally jump out of your skin when someone scores.

Came here for my partners, sisters weddings reception and it was a beautiful venue with friendly staff.

I was looking for a spot last minute for an event for 50 people and this turned out to be most incredible spot!! Sophie was very accommodating in helping me book everything. Our waiter, Sam, and the bar manager for the night was unreal in terms of making sure everything went smoothly. Also, there was a really nice security guard who made sure the event remained private. It turned out to be a perfect night. 10/10 would recommend. Just a heads up if you do book the courtyard area — there’s no music due to the neighbours. Also I would recommend preordering drinks to make sure they have stock of what you’re wanting. Other than that, I was super happy with everything!

Walk through to the garden or rear dining area for a great ambience. Lamb was tender tasty and well presented. Service is smiling and efficient.

Very nice pub with a great beer garden! I have been there several times to watch a match or just for dinner as the food is excellent! Highly recommend for a great Sunday roast!

He reservado el Avalon para ver Inglaterra vs Holanda en las semifinales de la Eurocopa 2024. Pagué la tarjeta de regalo de £ 50 para asegurar la mesa y realmente desearía NUNCA molestarme. Aunque el personal del bar era amable, y el pub estaba ocupado, nadie tenía idea de lo que estaba pasando. Gastamos nuestra tarjeta de regalo de 50 libras esterlinas en 1 pizza - y - a - Peroni - por - 15 libras esterlinas - oferta x 2 (30 libras esterlinas ), además de un par de pintas extra y nuestra tarjeta de regalo se agotó por completo. Tan pronto como Inglaterra ganó, la licitación del bar dijo que teníamos 22 libras pendientes, y explicamos que no lo hicimos. Al comprobarlo, estaba claro que estábamos en lo cierto ya que nuestra tarjeta de regalo se había utilizado completamente (puedo añadir, cada vez que usábamos la tarjeta de regalo, el personal nos hacía saber cuánto quedaba en ella) , y pagamos en nuestras tarjetas por todas y cada una de las otras pintas después de la tarjeta de regalo, en nuestras tarjetas de débito. Luego pregunté por la gerente y ella se defendió y dijo 'Bueno, eso significa que nunca te dan la bienvenida aquí'. Vaya. Está bien conmigo, ya que no voy a pagar extra por el error del personal. Anteriormente he trabajado en hostelería a lo largo de la uni (4 años) y simpatizaba completamente con el caos de una noche ajetreada (como le dije al personal). Si ese fuera yo trabajando en The Avalon, no degradaría a los clientes de una manera tan horrible. Arréglalo. No es nuestro error que el personal del bar no se comunicara entre sí a pesar de que usamos nuestra tarjeta de regalo para pagar la noche y también pagamos por bebidas adicionales en nuestras tarjetas de débito. No hicieron nada correctamente, y se quedaron allí rascándose la cabeza por cosas que no cuadraban, y pidiéndonos que pagáramos 22 libras para compensar su desastre. Qué decepcionante. Esta es la primera mala crítica que he dejado en mi VIDA. Pero me sentí obligado a hacerlo, ya que me hicieron sentir a mí y a mis amigos como una completa basura después de una noche tan agradable viendo el fútbol. A good gathering place for a pint and nibbles.

What an unmitigated disaster this place has become. OK so it’s 6-7 years since I was here last but how can such a gem fall so far. The outdoor area is cloaked in a filthy piece of canvas that makes you feel as if you’re walking into an oversize latrine. A theme carried on inside where the stench in the bar was a mix between outdoor sewer and indoor sewer. The high tables were sticky with dried booze (and god knows what other fluids). The bar staff were the most miserable employees on the planet - not surprised tho given they have to work in that stench. The bar interior has less appeal than a rundown O’Neils and was even more miserable than the outside tent. Avalon used to young cool hip and trendy. Whilst many pubs struggle to survive but deserve to be kept open I think I’d prefer this place to be a Foxtons Estate Agents than the crud it’s become. Do. Not. Go

Had a school reunion and the staff were so friendly and accommodating, really friendly atmosphere.

The old lady bouncer was a disgrace, We have footage of her saying my friend was sad because she’s ugly. She also insulted her parents saying they were awful parents. Absolutely vile behaviour especially for such an old lady.

Absolute horrendous place! The female bouncer, Ms Richards, physically assaulted 2 girls and dragged them across the place by the throat and she had a knife on her! The manager was absolutely useless and made excuses, telling the girls to leave and letting the female bouncer continue working! Will never be going there again, zero stars.

Last Saturday I witnessed something really scary. I saw two girls coming out of the toilet, the bouncer was following them and screaming whilst holding a knife. She rugby tackled one of them who was crying her eyes out. When her friend was looking after her, she was aggressively grabbed by the throat and dragged across the room. It was absolutely horrible and upsetting. I will never go here again, I sincerely hope this bouncer was dealt with. However looking at the management I highly doubt it :(.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Bouncers carry knives monitoring the toilets and when calmly questioned you get grabbed by the throat, dragged through the bar and kicked out!!!!! Doesn’t matter if they’re “blunt”, super aggressive staff hence the alarm, which is further validated by the throat dragging. Shame as it ruins what would be a good establishment otherwise.

The roast pork belly and shoulder of lamb were exquisite! Sensational roast. Service a bit slow but they were very busy in Sunday. Table not wiped down. Nice sunny garden ☀️🙏🏽

Nice dining area at the back of the pub, good food, reasonable prices and friendly service.

A decent pub with a little garden area and a fair amount of space, but it gets ridiculously busy (they even had a queue), so be prepared for that. What is also baffling is that they turn the dining area into a disco despite there being nowhere to dance. Why play music so loud and kill the lights?

The service here (Francis in particular, although everyone is first rate) is impeccable! After over 25 years of visiting this country, truly the best pie I have ever had here! This place is a must in Balham! Thank you all for making my visit here exceptional! Nothing but good words! ❤️

Huge pub with extensive garden and rather fancy dining area. We sat in the garden, which was very pleasant. Couldn't get food order to work via QR code, and they don't take orders over the bar. But a glass collector did order for us. Enjoyed our visit, would come again

Had the most fabulous evening for dinner and drinks here. Amazing food (varied menu and very generous portions), lovely selection of wines and drinks. What absolutely made the evening however was the service from Selin, the AGM, who took perfect care of us. We were so well looked after. Thank you, Selin! You were truly amazing

Shocking customer service! Was told we had 10 minutes to leave our table due to a booking, we said no problem had an inch left of our drinks. Next thing I know had a table pushed into my legs as I hadn’t moved 2 minutes later… told we had been asked 3 times to move… which we hadn’t… not sure if we had been considered part of a larger group but we were only asked once to move and had an extremely rude encounter with Selin… the manager I spoke too about the incident was pathetic and Selin saw me talking to him so continued her aggressive nature. Can’t believe she was allowed to talk to customers in the tone she used and basically barged a table into my legs! Won’t be back!

Great menu for a Sunday Roast - we had roast beef, roast belly (gluten free) and the veggie chestnut, grain & parsnip wellington Really tasty food and good value for what was served Half pint the same price as a Diet Coke / lemonade. Overall value was good but portions could have been a bit larger with more roast potatoes rather than mashed potato to prop up the rest of the meal Shame to have no roast chicken left but service was excellent with friendly and attentive staff and a very clean pub Will be back soon!!

Got a sharing table plate and two starters - amazing, found it all very nice , especially the Scotch egg, the Korean ribs and the garlic bread ! Was at 12pm so wasn't busy - but I've been here in evenings and the atmosphere is great. Lovely staff. Banging mojitos 🥳

I took my boyfriend here for his birthday meal as it's one of our local pubs and we got the steak for 2 which was around 65 pounds. Massively disappointing! Firstly, we asked for medium rare but it basically just came rare. This was fine as we are not too fussy and could still enjoy it. The problem was it was majorly overpriced for what it was. It comes with a massive bone across the plate to make it look like a much bigger meal. The steak meat was not for two and was full of fat. I have never been left hungry after steak but I was then. The chips were mediocre and just not that enjoyable overall. Feeling like I wasted my money.

We hired the Blue Room for an event. The service was great and they were on top of getting the drinks to everyone. However, the food was quite disappointing. I think the menu needs to be improved. It tasted really flavourless and bland.

Despite being incredibly busy, the bar staff served us promptly while we waited for our booked table to be prepared. Great food and fantastic service - Edward in particular was outstanding.

Lovely meal here on a Friday evening. Very attentive and friendly staff. Nice atmosphere. Not cheap but value for money because of quality.

We had our Christmas party here and had a great time. We arrived a bit early and had some drinks in the pub. We then went to our private room where we enjoyed a delicious 3 course meal followed by an evening of entertainment singing Karaoke. As our room was only booked until 11pm, the waitress kindly found a table for us downstairs where we could put our things / drinks and continue to enjoy the lovely music. We had a great night here.

The food was pretty disappointing. Described as a chipotle lamb steak with tabbouleh but the tabbouleh was just plain giant couscous so very dry. Wouldn’t recommend that dish. The staff were pretty friendly and helpful with allergens.

My friends and I hired the blue room for a Christmas party. Organisation pre event was excellent, thank you Marley. The service whilst we were there was efficient and excellent. The food was delicious. I had all the vegan options, friends had a mixture of meat and fish options. All very good. The room was very Christmassy and decorated well. After we finished we danced to great tunes downstairs. Thank you The Avalon.

Marley did an amazing job organising my work Christmas party for 70 attendees. Over the course of three months, we exchanged emails and she efficiently addressed all my queries to guarantee a seamless event. Marley was present during the celebration as well. We had a welcoming glass of Prosecco, a delicious three-course meal, and drinks along with a microphone and speaker setup. Many thanks to Marley and the rest of the team at The Avalon!

Fast and attentive service, delicious food in good portions. The pork belly was heaven, the sticky toffee pudding was to die for as well. Only downside is that it can get a bit noisy at peak times since it's such a big hall. But I loved the mixed crowd as well, from families with kids to young groups of friends, all together, a microcosm of London at its best.

We rented the blue room for a dinner and we were so well looked after and really helpful with the tech in the room too

I booked out The Blue Room for a private event and the staff (Maddy and Selin) were absolutely fantastic, it was easy to organise, extremely flexible, and everything went super smoothly. Amazing facilities and quaint decor. Highly recommend.

The venue was absolutely fantastic!! Everyone couldn't stop complimenting how wonderful the space was – so intimate and warm, even though outside! The staff were exceptional! Always attentive and polite! Their smooth service and regular check-ins made us feel incredibly welcome. The food was equally outstanding! Despite a few guests having dietary intolerances, the catering team swiftly and politely accommodated their needs. And those burgers – simply divine! I can't express my gratitude enough for the effort your venue and staff put into making our birthday celebration truly memorable. We are definitely planning to come back again in the future! Great local pub. Went on a Sunday afternoon and the secret garden was lovely. They tend to play most of the big football matches as well, and is a lovely spot to settle in and enjoy sport.

I've always had a great time at the Avalon. The staff are really friendly - especially Selin. Her service is always spot on and always with a smile. The pubs atmosphere is great for a drinks, food and watching sport.
