The Aurora Hotel in Highland

Italian restaurant. Excellent food. Good size portions presented beautifully. Wine a little expensive. The lady in charge of service was very efficient. Slightly less so the other two waiters who forgot to offer the pepper/parmesan for our main courses. We would certainly recommend the Aurora.

Food was fantastic, staff very attentive and made us feel we were the only guests, if in nairn definitely go here for exceptional food at very reasonable prices

My meal was supposed to be Lasagne...it was pasta stuck together, couldn't find the meat and no cheese sauce. My partner's meal was just acceptable but all outrageously over priced. 'Authentic Italian ' , it is not. Shouldn't have paid for my meal but couldn't wait to leave the premises.

Stayed one night. Had dinner. Won't be back and will tell people we know not to go there. Place wants a deep , deep clean and a few fresh flowers about the place and candles in dining room/ conservatory would go a long way to making it more welcoming. Well over priced we were £110 for the night. Premier Lodge would have been far better. We were on top floor and no lift, ( both in our 70's) room overlooking main A93 so noise all through the night. Dinner was acceptable but well overpriced and did not include potatoes or chips you had to buy separately. Still waiting for the coffee I ordered to have in the bar after my dinner. It was impossible to have avprivate conversation as we were crammed into the conservatory and tables really close together. The menu did not include pizzas even though they say it is an Italian restaurant. The bathroom i found few hairs so had to clean it with antibacterial wipes Towels were great, soft and white. Made big mistake staying here.

My friend and I stayed at the end of our NC500 holiday in June. The bed was so comfortable, I'm hoping to purchase the same mattress! In our rush to leave in the morning I left my battery pack in the lounge. When I emailed the hotel, they had it and sent it back to me free of charge. Mariangela was brilliant answering my emails regarding my battery pack. Thank you so much! : )

We used this hotel as an overnight stop for an event we were attending in the area and we certainly were not disappointed. Check in was so friendly by the owner who made you feel welcome the minute you walked in. Our room was clean, well equipped and very comfortable. We booked a table for our tea and it was superb, good food, more than ample portions and a fantastic choice. The puddings were to die for. We also had breakfast and again the choices were fantastic and served to promptly with a smile. The owners were fantastic throughout and nothing was too much trouble. If in the are we would certainly use this hotel again and would recommend to anyone

We stayed here for 2 nights and have to say, the owners and family are very friendly and welcoming. Our room had recently been refurbished and was the nicest of several places we stayed in the area over an 9 day break. We ate in one night and the food was good but the atmosphere was a bit lacking, with a plastic extension roof that leaked, a major distraction. That apart we would stay again as it is very well placed in the town with plenty off street parking outside. Thank you

My hubby and I had dinner here last night. From the greeting by a member of staff to our leaving, the experience was first class. The food was very tasty and plentiful and the pricing very fair. I would highly recommend this restaurant as somewhere to have a lovely meal either for a romantic dinner, birthday treat or just a night out with friends.

Myself and three friends stayed here on a golf trip (two rounds one night) Have stayed in plenty various hotels from large groups, boutique and family owned (which this one is) The welcome on arrival was genuine and superb very attentive, a credit to the staff and family The food was fantastic, very genuine Italian cuisine, starters were huge potions, my friends had the garlic mushrooms stated they were up there with the best they had. Then mains again loads, could easily feed two! Chicken milianese, outstanding! as was the breakfast! Freshly made coffee, continental as well as full Scottish with high quality food, the black pudding was as good as Stornaway. Rooms basic and if you are not fused by this as a bit dated however very clean (which is key), then you will have a great stay. 100 percent I would go back here, even if not staying just for the food!

Went to the Aurora Hotel for dinner with my wife. We both had an excellent Italian meal which was served promptly by a cheerful waiter. The food was excellent and well prepared. This family run restaurant provided excellent cuisine cooked to a high standard. The owners were very friendly and engaging. A real gem of a restaurant.

Welcoming owners, breakfast was very good and plentiful. Had a meal in the restaurant and it was authentic Italian and good. We had room 8 on the second floor and found it very noisy from the road outside all night, however both my friend and I live in very quiet areas and so maybe a little sensitive to noise. Also found the shower cubicle small and not very easy to access.

Carta bsstante completa en la que destacan los platos de pasta, pero no esperéis encontrar pizza. Tomamos unos antipasti y pan de ajo como entrante, y un plato de pasta cada uno. Very friendly Italian family run hotel restaurant. The service was great. Unfortunately the chef let it down a bit. The menu was very typical with most classics in their style (although no soup). We just shared garlic bread starter at £4.50. Had a good load of Garlic butter just a shame the bread was not toasted enough. My son has escalope milanaise with pasta Arabia ta. I added some salt and was delicious. I had scaloppino al limone.. Veal slices in lemon and white wine sauce. Was very lemon could not taste the wine and the Veal was over cooked and tough... Shame! For £20 + side of saute bump the price up to a dish that should be delicious. It would have been of the chef was more attentive... But it had a nice ambience and service. Food had potential, just not executed will today.

Location of Hotel good, had to park on the road as no room in the hotel car park. We stayed in the family room - lovely large room, comfortable and clean. Decor in public areas needs updating - new flooring, walls painted, furnishings etc. could be very nice as lovely old building. Breakfast was very tasty and owners polite. I would probably stay here again if in Nairn as room was not bad value in comparison to other places we stayed in around Scotland.

È stata una piacevolissima cena in un posto accogliente gestito da una famiglia squisita. Abbiamo mangiato come a casa in Italia, con il sorriso e l’ospitalità di una bella famiglia unita e affiatata. Servizio e cucina impeccabili. Consigliato!

Very pleasant small hotel with lovely staff.. We stayed for a couple of days on a tour of the Highlands. Nairn is a very pleasant quiet little town and great if you want to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the City. It also features a top class Italian Restaurant where we had dinner on arrival. Good authentic Italian food and very friendly pleasant waiting staff. The decor is a little dated however and the TV in the room is tiny (we didn't use it so not a problem for us). Also worthy of note in the town is the Nairn Tandoori where we had dinner the second night 5 stars there too?

Absolutely fantastic food with a real Italian feel. No pizzas here, just a real authentic great tasting Italian menu. Reminded us of our holiday in Italy last year. Great owners and really friendly staff. Would highly recommend.

Took my wife out for her birthday meal and had a fantastic evening. Food was delicious and the service was brilliant. My wife's dessert came out with a candle and the staff sang happy birthday to her which made her evening. Thanks to the staff and owners for the great evening. Walked round the whole of Nairn looking for a restuarant that took my fancy. When I saw Italian I thought, Lasagne. I wasn't disappointed either. Piping hot and delicious. Closely followed by some smooth ice cream rounded off by a coffee. Decor was like your mums front room, but apart from that it was great experience.

Stayed here again in 2022. Very clean & welcoming. The couple who own the hotel are lovely and very friendly. Check in was quick & easy - my room on the top floor very clean & functional. Single bed was super-comfy and breakfast a mix of continental and/or cooked. Very good value & very good service. Hope to return again soon.

When we arrived the staff were very welcoming. We were sat at a table in the conservatory which was very dated, needed a good clean and decorated. Unfortunately it was raining and there was a leak right above our table. The waitress was very good and moved us immediately. The menu is quite extensive, however there are no children's menu. Also, be warned that when you order a main course that it only comes with a small side salad, sautéed potatoes are £4.50/ £4.95 extra. We had the mushroom tagliatelle which was priced at around £14, and the lemon veal escalopes at priced roughly at £17. The veal was grey, obviously frozen and had a lemon and oil sauce that was so overpowering you could taste nothing but Lemon. The veal was also very fatty and looked extremely unappetising. The tagliatelle was mediocre with mushrooms that were well past their best. A member of staff did ask if everything was ok to which we replied mediocre. He just replied with oh ok and carried on. Another member of staff asked, we gave the same reply and he mumbled something as he walked away. The lady (whom I presumed was the manager) did not ask if our meal was ok, and still said nothing when we paid. The staff were all very friendly which is why I gave 2 stars instead of 1. We should have left when we seen how empty the restaurant was. It's the height of the season and the only Italian for miles. I will definitely not be returning. Overpriced and mediocre food.

Nairn was a pleasant bus trip we took to celebrate our anniversary at this outstanding Italian restaurant; which also has a comfortable and resonable hotel attached. We were so impressed with this family owned and operated restaurtant and hotel everything about it was a perfect choice. What a pleasure it was to see everyone in the family working so hard to have everything above our expectations and so proud of their establishments. We had a delious veal dinner and a nice bottle of red wine and finished with the best ever tiramasu derssert. We were seated in a lovely setting at a nice round table for two in the bay window with a nice view. The Aurora Italian restaurant was our personal favorite over the 2 weeks we dined out and the highlight of our trip to Scotland.

We have been twice now to have a meal there. The food served is Italian and it’s taste is very good. The staff are very helpful and the restaurant is clean. Parking is on a side street with no problem. Would recommend anyone to have a meal there when in Nairn.

This was a return visit, six years after our last stay in Nairn. The food was very good, well presented and hot, which is not the case at all restaurants! The service was good and the staff friendly.

On a Saturday night in Nairn we were lucky to find this place where we managed to get a meal without a booking. The car park is very small and difficult to get into but parking in the street, although allowed was impossible. We were shown to a nice window seat and served quickly. While on holiday in Nairn it was my birthday so my husband wanted to take me out for a meal to celebrate. We'd passed The Aurora driving back to our campsite and decided that's where we would go.

I returned here 2 years after I'd first stayed. Welcomed by the same members of staff - a good sign! Checked in to the very same room - so I knew exactly what to expect.

Enjoyed my one night's stay with a great Italian dinner and a cooked breakfast. Stayed in a single room which was roomy enough, with en-suite facilities. There is also car parking available. The staff were friendly and helpful.

I went in this restaurant during my holidays in Scotland with a big group of friends and, being Italian, it’s very rare to find abroad an Italian restaurant with the same food that you would eat in Italy, but this is the case: great food, great people. Do yourself a favour and go to this restaurant !

We were a little early in the evening (6 ish) when we ate here and so we had the restaurant to ourselves. The food was basic, well cooked, generously portioned Italian fare. I had the spaghetti carbonara and my wife took flat spaghetti with a piquant sauce. Both were excellent. The price was right too and a very enjoyable meal was had! Try this place, especially if you’re hungry!

On the way back from Cromarty stopped on impulse at this Italian restaurant in an hotel. Spaghetti Carbonara and Penne Salmone both excellent and helpings just the right size. All staff were friendly and very helpful and attentive. Try the sorbets, delicious!

Well first the staff and the welcome was excellent, the room was a good size but in need of redecorating the wall paper was starting to peel in bathroom and a CARPET!!!!! The hotel and restaurant are prominently and centrally located in Nairn. The restaurant specialises in Italian cuisine and has an extensive menu. We, being a party of three, visited the restaurant at 5.30 pm and were greeted by the owner who also acted as our waitress. Two decided on the smoked salmon tagliatelle, whereas I decided on the vegetarian penne. All 3 meals, which were freshly prepared, were served up with the minimum of delay. The quality of the food was excellent and the portions generous to the extent that all three of us declined the offer of desserts.

Menu seemed a little expensive to start with, £10 for melon and parmaham, yikes! My wife ordered anyway, it would easily have fed both of us. Calamari was ok, nothing special. Neither of us could finish our main meals, both tasted really fresh and delicious. No room for a desert, so can't comment. Be careful, some main meals didn't include a side dish, so would have pushed the price up further. Would definitely recommend and return again.

There are two seating areas; one inside and a glass-enclosed room as well. We ate inside and had a cozy corner table. The food arrived steaming hot. The linguini with shrimp in tomato sauce had some chili spice in it. Quite good. We shared a side dish of sautéed spinach and, at our request, it was prepared without the chilis. The spinach was perfectly sautéed; not watery nor too oily. There was a good tea selection including herbal teas which we always choose. Fine menu for vegetarians. The decor is very "1970's" but still looks pretty.

Nos recibieron en la puerta del restaurante por el propietario y su equipo, que nos acompañó a nuestra mesa en el invernadero, que era luminoso y bien ventilado. El menú es principalmente italiana con pasta, pizza y carnes opciones. Todos disfrutamos de sus comidas y el servicio era muy bueno. La cerveza se sirve desde botellas y que habría sido mejor si hubiera habido una opción proyecto como Peroni, ya que se trata de un restaurante italiano. En conclusión este es uno de los mejores restaurantes en Nairn y no dudaría en recomendarlo a otros.
