The Ashlea Pub in Stockport

The Ashlea was one of our favourite places to visit for a family meal, but after a few bad experiences, we stopped visiting. We decided to retry, and we were very disappointed as the place has not returned to the nice place to eat. The food was not as good as we have had at other Chef N Brewers in the area. Food was dry from heat lamps, and over salted. It's a pity the standards of chef n brewer are not seen here.

Came in for a late lunch with the family.I had a roast dinner and it was delicious. We were served by Jennah and nothing was too much trouble. We’ll be back again!!

Nothing special, edible but very fatty turkey the vegetarian meal had problems with not copying the description in the menu

Had a sirloin the garlic butter on top was frozen solid The starter garlic mushroom was devoid of flavour The sweet jam rolls molly was rock hard All in all very poor for the price

Lovely place nice meal & great service

Popped in to see if it had changed.very dark inside.drinks are quite expensive and food is overpriced.Fisn and chips £19. Outside area at the back looks quite shabby and the front of the pub needs a kick of paint.

Tiny portions but imaginative use of ingradients for non-meat eaters.

Had a wonderful lunch with my wife & our dog here today, the food was excellent & the staff very polite. We were served by Aeron ( very tall chap well mannered) I think that was his name. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Top notch, excellent service by all the staff especially Aaron who always takes time to say hello.

It's a nice, dog-friendly pub with helpful staff. The main downside as a pub is the beer selection is very lager based. The reason for my rating is that I do not recommend eating here. We ate Sunday lunch and it was genuinely terrible. The roast potatoes were dry and hard, the vegetables were mushy, and the cauliflower cheese was in a seemingly microwaved in a disgusting watery sauce.

We enjoyed our food here. Particularly enjoyed the chefs sharing board as a starter! Good service from staff and dog friendly with treats and water available too!

Great food, great atmosphere and great service.

Lovely food as usual. Service was excellent. The lamb shank shepherd's pie was devine and the chocolate fondant dessert is to die for.

Came here for a weekend lunch, pleasantly surprised at the menu which was better than our local Greene King. Food was lovely and the staff were really friendly and welcoming. Would definitely come again - bonus that the dog friendly area inside was so big.

Fabulous meal. Service from Ryan and Megan excellent, We had 4 different dishes and each one was cooked to perfection. Only comment - Would have liked a little more peach in the Peach and Brie salad! Will definitely visit again.

Came on Saturday with family for a meal and as always couldn't fault it! Fish and chips, was delicious! Mixed grill was plentiful and sausage and mash was tasty! Brilliant service from Aeron who was attentive and knowledgeable, price was good, food was fab!

We were a family of 14 attending an afternoon meal. The food came promptly and service was impeccable. Ryan and Megan took care of all our needs, regularly checking in with us throughout the meal.

Absolutely love this place! All the servers are so lovely and helpful, i always get the steak sandwich which is amazing. Definitely recommend this place it’s so homely and welcoming and there is many different areas to sit in. Overall lovely environment and great staff!

Me and my girlfriend came in for food and drinks was a lovey experience Aeron where lovely and kind and the food from Joe and Rory was amazing will definitely be returning

Food not great, portions small for some meals, quality not up to scratch with some meals especially pie, peas and veg. Beers served were sour and off. When taken back to the bar, no apology whatsoever, bad customer service. Just " what do you want now?". Dark and dingy in a lot of the interior, with damage and repairs needing to be addressed. Expensive for what you actually get and not and enjoyable experience our family party will not be returning.

Very attentive staff, excellent table servce and the food was fantastic.... the Pork Belly was the best I've ever had 😋 Highy recommend a visit. We will be back 👍🏽

Came for lunch with my daughter. Both had the fish and chips which was delicious. Generous portion.Aeron served us and was very friendly.Gave excellent customer service.

I came down to surprise my son Aeron ,I was greeted by pleasant friendly staff, they made sure that I had put my car registration was inputted, then they got Aeron for me, he got me some food and a drink, food was good and hot, enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere, enjoyed my visit and I will be returning again 👍

Good food and reasonably priced for what you get, bit more of a relaxed, quiet pub for some food and drinks, if that's what you're after. Would visit again

Had such a lovely meal-three course's and all was so nicely cooked.Our daughter is gluten free and where so helpful.Would definitely recommend and all the servers so pleasant and went above and beyond.

Food was really tasty but the portion size was lacking. Service was good, not bad not great just good. Atmosphere lacked and was dark and gloomy. It's an old pub but lighting could've been better, especially for a lunch sitting.

Went for Dad's day meal with son and family. Sons starter had plastic wrapper in it . Starter was replaced. my main mushroom pie came stone cold in the middle. The meal was replaced.

Car park run by Euro Car Parks -signage unclear and no notice obvious at the bar. Invited to a social event and ended up with a £60 ticket! Also took a long time to get served.

Just had another fantastic experience at the Ashlea. This has been a favourite for our family get togethers for many years and it never fails to disappoint! The food was delicious, the atmosphere was welcoming and the service (special thanks to Aeron) was A+++

Food was very good. All hot and served to our party of 6 all at same time. Steak was a bit tough but still tasty. We would definately come back. Staff very good, helpful and responsive.

Nice pub (bit dark inside even on a sunny day). Outside seating on the front of the pub (roadside). Beer garden at the back, both terraced and grassed, suitable for dogs. Car park available, you'll need to register your number plate on the screens inside the pub to avoid parking charges.

Pre holiday meal with family. Have been here few times. Food, service, friendly professional staff make it all well worth the visit.

Good food but the service was slooooow. I think they were short handed on the staff. Lovely setting, generous portions of good quality just needs a bit of pep from the crew on shift. We will return.

A lovely warm welcoming atmosphere with friendly staff to great and serve you. An amazing verity of food and drink on the menu and they also cater for people who like vegan food. Plenty of parking on site. We was served by Aeron Levi.

Aeron has been amazing to me and my family! I have a broken leg and he went above and beyond to get me a stool to rest my knee on and helped when ever he could! Food was amazing cooked beautifuly.

Pub was clean and had nice seating outside in the sun, staff were friendly and the service was good. , The mushroom wellington, Yorkshires, veg, onion rings, chips and roasted meat were all lovely. However some of the food was not great, the roast potatoes were rock solid (even for me and i like them crispy) and the signature burger was very dry. The veggie burger was not great either which was disappointing.

Me & my husband had lunch yesterday in which we have not been here for years. Staff very friendly service very good. But our food was not up to standard infact it was the worst food I've ever had. We were so disappointed. I got a full refund with no problem whatsoever, its a shame as its such a lovely pub.

Good range of beers including real ales. Great menu. Food has always been perfect. Nice atmosphere, and very friendly staff. New, tasty menus for 2024.

Ordered starters which were lovely. Head waiter came over asked if we wanted to order mains but we only had 20 mins 5 mins later he came back and said we had 2 mins. Felt we were in the way so paid and left

Beautiful pub and amazing food. Especially enjoyed the starters that were presented very well. All the staff were lovely Especially Aleesha who served us our drinks.

Extremely nice and helpful staff, and despite the pub being pretty busy (Saturday lunch time) every time we ordered some more drinks, they arrived very quickly. Food was lovely too. I highly recommend the Sea Bass.

I went yesterday with my family for Mother’s Day and it was amazing!! Aaron was absolutely incredible! Couldn’t help us enough, was kind, professional and even wished me a happy Mother’s Day! Perfect day! Thank you!

A funeral..... buffet was a bit duff but the staff were lovely.

I visited the Ashlea pub with friends on the 3rd March, one of many visits. Lunch was lovely, great food looked after by Aeron always friendly professional nothing is too much trouble. Thank you so much for a lovely afternoon Aeron we have rebooked for our next visit.

We have regular ladies who lunch meetings and this was one of the best ever. The service was fabulous and the food was good we were served by Aeron.

We visited at lunchtime and the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. They were particularly kind in making sure we had an accessible table as my friend was on crutches. The only problem, for which I have deducted a star, was the fact that the seats are very uncomfortable. Not only that, but the seat I sat on was very rickety and I had to exchange it. They could do with a general overhaul of the furniture. Having said that, the food was delicious. I had the Korean chicken and the strips in particular were absolutely delicious, so much so that I still dream about them! My friend had the fish and scallops, which was very nice, but quite a small portion. Fortunately, I couldn’t eat all my chicken so she had some of that. For dessert, we had a chocolate brownie and Bakewell tart, which were both very good. Service was good throughout, cheerful and helpful, and the food was brought out at just the right to speed. We have visited before on several occasions and will definitely be coming again.

We had an amazing time , Aaron was our server and he was amazing. He was friendly and professional . The food came so quick and was very tasty. Totally recommended coming .

Visited for a really nice meal in Jan with my partner. We were looked after by Aeron who was incredible. He really looked after us, so polite and friendly and very helpful when it came to giving us advice on what to order etc. The surroundings and pub itself is very cosy and I especially loved the fire. You cannot beat a log fire in a cosy pub on a horrible winter day! I was going to take my mum somewhere else for mother's day but after the service we got from Aeron I am taking my mum to the Ashlea now as know we will get looked after. I just hope we get served by Aeron again as I know he will look after my mum as she can be fussy! Thank you :)

First visit to the Ashlea in years and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the service. Menu was varied pub grub and standard Chef and Brewer quality. Only paid for drinks as we had vouchers.

We visited the pub on Sat the 20th to celebrate my birthday the food was excellent and Aeron went above and beyond to make sure we had a memorable evening nothing was to much trouble.

Really disappointed with the food. One of the partie was ill. We all agreed we wouldn't be going back.

Genuinely one of the best meals I've had out in years. The staff were wonderfully welcoming and friendly, despite some tech issues with the tills following the power being switched off. Everything was sorted by the time we were finished but the communication was excellent. The Korean BBQ chicken strips were beautiful, and a very generous portion too. The signature burger was full of flavour and tasty meats, the skin on fries were crisp and flavoursome. The salted caramel sundae was one of the best desserts I've ever had. The layers of different fillings just kept coming! Add to that, the bill was reasonable. Would happily come here again.

Good service but the food was pretty bad. Had a gluten free menu so that's a positive for our coeliac person.

Josh and Amy delivered great service and were very helpful and knowledgeable! The food was lovely and the drinks tasted just right My children were offered crayons and colouring as a distraction and were well looked after!

Went for Xmas family get together on a Sunday about 4pm. I ordered Sunday lunch, what a terrible choice. Clearly everything say there all day on the heat plate. Yorkshire pudding hard, stuffing rock hard. Roast potatoes looked like frozen wedges and the presentation of...

We opted for Christmas Dinner it was the worst dinner we've ever eaten, very disappointed.

Had a Christmas meal here last night with friends. Was a bit apprehensive as I know a group had gone the night before and unfortunately not had a great experience. Thankfully we didn't have any problems, Jamie the bartender was lovely and welcoming, the servers were friendly and smiling and put up with us chatting rather than telling them who had ordered what! The food was hot and delicious couldnt fault it and plenty of it. The red wine we had (a bottle between two of us) hasnt left me with a bad head this morning either. We all had a great time and would definitely visit again, its a long time since I was last here. Also really pleased that after a short trial of cashless, its been dropped so you can choose to by either card or cash, otherwise this very positive review would have ended up negative.. Thanks guys have a great Christmas 🎅

Had the festive menu, the Turkey was done beautifully with all the trimmings. The cheese cake was delicious as was the GF version too. Thank you to Evie and Abbie nothing was too much trouble.

Christmas lunch with friends at the ashlea was fabulous, great service and two delicious courses off the festive menu. All really well presented and tasty, especially the pigs in blankets!

We popped into the Ashleigh for a couple drinks and was greeted by a lovely member of staff named Abbie. She was very attentive and super welcoming throughout our visit. It’s always nice to see great customer service like this! Overall the pub has a lovely warming atmosphere and the prices are reasonable. I will certainly be returning!

Food was outstanding, and service by AERON was amazing, he was very polite and very good to chat to. AERON catered very well to our needs anything we needed/wanted he was there. Once again everything overall was amazing would definitely recommend going here!.
