Lively pub near the market and several music venues in a lovely part of Stockport. I met some psychobilly friends here before a gig. Really enjoyed the lively and bustling vibe. Friendly. 🍻

Tuesday 24th January 2023 This is one of the best real pubs in stockport The beers in here are from small local interesting breweries. The pub is run by proper real ale enthusiasts and it is a brilliant place to place to drink great real ale Tuesday 15th August 2023 Again, we entered this grand real ale pub 6 handpumpd ales on offer great staff locals and landlord. The beer garden at the back of this pub secluded and a sun trap But the Beartown ales we had was superb well done all involved 5 stars deserved Saturday 1st June 2024 Today, I again entered what has to be an essential visit for real ale drinkers when drinking in Stockport. This pub does always 6 hand pumped ales on offer the land lord really knows how to keep his stillage There is always a great local following in I've visited this pub numerous times and have never been disappointed/read historical reviews. Please keep this pub to be an essential visit for real ale drinkers when coming to stockport. Love this bar, great choice of drinks and lovely staff

Nice friendly pub with a good sized beer garden and decent drink selection. My partner and I were particularly thrilled to find they that had vegan and gluten free lager on tap!

The staff at the angel are impeccable, one in particular shines and that person is DUNCAN. When entering the establishment you will be happy to find you're greeted with not only a big smile but a genuine one at that, this staff member ensures upon deliverance of the finest level of customer service and holds a unique ability to establish a grand rapport wether you're a regular or just stopping for a quick one.

Fabulous pub, lovely beer garden and great selection of beers, staff are always friendly and welcoming, been going here since it opened and without question the best pub in Stockport. Update: Prices seem to be getting out of hand, now £6.30 a pint as of Oct 24 which will limit my visits, shame.

atmosphere was great and everyone was enjoying the night apart from a gentleman serving behind the bar oldish fella with a blue shirt on needs to learn customer service as his attitude towards customers was appauling not the first time we have had bad service of the same person

Staff really friendly very professional . We will be back again next week and definitely recommend. Tom and miln. Was very good to us especially when we got a baby with us

In years gone by, Stockport's classiest pub would be a low hurdle to clear. These days, not so. The Angel Inn clears that hurdle comfortably with a traditional yet refined interior, a selection of fine cask and predominately German keg beers, great wines and an excellent selection of single malts, quality gins, rums and liquers. The real highlight of The Angel though, is the staff. Ably headed up Duncan (and a wonderful team of Abbey, Liv, Liam, Mila and Tom) they're polite, genuinely friendly, knowledgable and incredily welcoming . Don't just take it from me, look at Kevin the dog. He abolutely adores Mila & Liv, can't take his eyes off them

Best pub in Stockport, Liv and Mela are the epitome of quality barstaff, attentive, quick and knowledgeable, they really make you feel welcome with their cheeky attitude and infectious smiles and remind me a bit of the chuckle brothers, to me to you, prices are slightly higher than usual but keeps the riff raff away and the beer garden is lovely, old school pub and quality beers, spot on. Shout out Duncan top man 👨 👏

Well worth a visit large selection of cask and keg ales available served by pleasant and knowledgeable staff. Shame its only open 4 days a week... oh and what's the idea of putting ad stickers all over what is supposed to be a scenic/picture window on front of building ...ughh!! UPDATE: ..since writing this review it went to opening 5 days a week to 6 days a week... back to 5 days...now 6 days ... oh and the windows are clear again. If you like an eclectic choice of music this is the place to be.. (loud) but drowns out the sound of aeroplanes coming in to land at local M/c Airport 😵‍💫.

Absolutely loved it the atmosphere was fabulous everybody was having a great time, some of the staff behind the bar were slow but that may have been because they were knew I'm not sure but overall a fabulous place for a night out

It has a nice, and spacious beer garden (at the weekend) — I never really know what I’m ordering here but it tastes nice enough (as in I’ve never seen it elsewhere, staff try their best to explain it, and they’re usually hospitable)

Visited this lovely pub on Stockport Market Place a few times since it reopened after a very long siesta. Paulicarus likes the range of 6 real ales. We chose a pint of Beartown bitter. Very good. A busy pub on this Saturday afternoon. Managed to grab the last free table inside. Too cold for us to sit outside. ( seats out front and out back.)

Didn't eat there, but had a great choice of beers, staff great, put out a ramp for disabled access to use disabled toilets. Would recommend

Staff really spoil this place. Used to be our favourite on the market, Dylan and Samba were great staff who responded well to all customers. 1st April both staff were rude and constantly used offensive language whilst working. It's a shame , all other pubs were full but people leaving here after just 1 drink or not even finishing drinks .

Great place for Furstenburg and atmosphere. Perfect location for Foodie Friday. In fact, any Friday really.

Absolutely stunning collection of cask ales. 6 to choose from and all the ones we tried were fantastic. Along with the petersgate tap and the magnet, Stockport has three real ale diamonds 👍

Nice refurbished pub, good ambience to the place, reasonably enough prices and good service. Clean and tidy throughout

Hardly anyone in the pub. We bought our beers and sat down. Then very loud and obnoxious music started to be played. We asked the staff if they would turn the sound down or change the music. However, the staff just laughed at us and did nothing, not even when we put the hardly drunk beers back on the bar and left. A place I will never return to.

Beers okay. Place is okay Drip trays could use a clean as the place has a faint stale beer smell. Better than most pubs in Stockport though 🤷

Nice Friday afternoon drink with a friend. Chilled and not really that busy at the time I went in. Though I am sure it picks up later. Nice cool beer though.

No food, but they serve Wienstephan and a selection of Old J Rum. Two of my favourites. The staff were friendly, though the bar closed at midnight...

An excleemt pub in a great location. Excelleny for sitting in or outside... there's a beer garden and seats overlooking the busy heritage Market Place. A vast drink selection at very fair prices. Excellent staff and top marks for cleanliness. Highly recommended!

Always a great atmosphere, good choose of drinks. Staff very pleasant. Only moment of complaint sat chatting and all of a sudden the music was switched on very loud above our heads.

I went on a Friday night as part of Foodie Friday. I have been to this pub before and we struggled to get up the huge step. It was only once we had been to the bar that they said they had a ramp hidden behind the door - a notice or some way of alerting staff from outside would be great as they have no way of seeing us waiting outside. When my friend tried to put the ramp down, punters were stepping over them, which was rude, but not the pub's fault. Anyway, once inside, this pub is quite nice. I was able to approach the bar in my wheelchair and staff were very helpful. There is a disabled toilet, which is pretty good albeit with no red cord. However, the music is really loud so you have to shout at the top of your lungs to have a conversation which ruins the atmosphere for me. It's much better out in the smoking area, but you have to negotiate a patio door to get there. This is another pub which seems to serve giants as most of the tables are so high. The regular, normal height tables get full really quickly. I had a mild, which tasted of chocolate and coffee - not my thing, but the regular pint of beer was good.

A great pub in the centre of the historic Stockport market place. A selection of Beers and wines seldom found in other pubs. The German beers, on tap not bottles, are all worthy of sampling. The pub is well layed out and a popular place to rest the legs when shopping or on a night out.

Cracking pub in Stockport Old Town

I had a great afternoon in here on Sunday for Stockport Music Maps event. Brilliant atmosphere.

I enjoyed my afternoon listening to some bands, but found the drinks expensive, £5-50p for a pint of mixed fruits cider

I come here frequently and always have a great time. Excellent choice of beer and great staff

Good mediaevalesque interior, good selection such as Weihenstephaner and some Porter which was nice. Thank god they haven't used Dunelm furnishings. Everything's traditional which is the way it should be.

What an amazing bar with a lovely beer garden, planes flying directly overhead into Manchester and out front the historic market square! Great selection of beers and lagers from the oldest brewery in the world. Lovely friendly bar staff and some iconic music! Would definitely recommend it!

You are not that pretty please improve your attitude. Still gets 5 stars love the pub the best eat off the staff are great beer, wine selections good beer garden good. One rude member of staff with no personality should effect this. If you are unfortunate enough to actually be served by this person don’t let it judge your experience.

Ordered First Chop Pop Ale & charged for the other 1st Chop Red. Total Joke. Barmaid said that was what it came up on the till. £1.20 Extra. Won't be returning.

First class pub, re-opened after a 67 year period of being closed in its original guise. Locally owned and run by people who care about cask beer and the environment in which it is presented. They have totally transformed the former retail redundant space in to a multi room pub. Very well decorated, a most welcoming addition to the drinking scene in Stockport. Highly recommended.

The best pub in Stockport (well apart from The Magnet and The Bakers, but all equally as good). The female bar staff are all beautiful, sexy and have some seriously great dance moves (especially Ell, who is a legendary dance diva). Oh, Hannah's alright as well, especially as she used to be the second best seller of Body Shop in the Stockport South region. Oh, and Sarah is awesome! The cider is second to none, but I did like South West Orchard that they used to sell in Remedy Bar. Ahh, Remedy Bar! How I miss that place, before it turned into that awful place called Dr Feelbad's. Anyway, back to my review. I've given this place 5 stars and I would have given it 5+, but I'm really unhappy about the log burner being for show only! I mean, who does that?! Apart from the fake log burner, amazingly great and friendly place. But THAT log burner man...

Came here for a birthday pint 29/12/21 and as usual was not disappointed. Not the most attractive pub inside but had a rocking atmosphere for 3 in the afternoon. As usual great selection of beers and the staff were friendly and working hard. We will be back again soon.

Not good, guy who ran the bar 29/10/21 rude and pulled short measure pints but didn’t like been questioned about it, will definitely not be going back!

Good selection of beers 🍻 for me it was the red wine that was the winner 🏆 really good! Nice place with a fab atmosphere it's busy at peak time and loud! There was an outside area but we didn't make it that far back. It's nice to see a small bar being so successful in Stockport we will definitely be back!

Have never been here before, was out with a large group of ex colleagues and we kind of drifted into this bar as one of the group said it had a nice outdoor part covered seating area and it did look as if it might rain although the sun was shining through the clouds. Plenty of drinks choices, prices were ok and very friendly staff.
