staff member was rude and had the wrong attitude. Asked to move but the people sat after us didn’t have a reservation and made us feel like we were lower than them. WRONG ATTITUDE FOR WORKING IN HOSPITALITY.

Was here attending a wake for a family member. The food that was put out was lovely. The staff were very accommodating and respectful too. Its a very clean and lovely pub with lots of outside seating. Would highly recommend.

Great place to take young children for a meal. Plenty to do outside and in a safe play area inside. Food was very good ans so was the service.

We had a big family party yesterday at the Angels for a 95th birthday and it was great. The soft play area and outside play space made it perfect to keep the children happy so the adults could enjoy themselves. The staff did a good job getting a lot of pizzas out in a short space of time and were friendly and good humoured. The food was tasty too, and prices very reasonable. It was a perfect venue for a lovely family afternoon. Highly recommended. Thank you!

Good food with a great little soft play area for kids. Kept my kids entertained and allowed us to enjoy our dinner.

Haven't been here for years tried for lunch today with a 6 year old, straight away told we can't use soft play because of bookings at 11:45 when dead, left at 12:35 still dead, food came out in 8 minutes microwave special. Nothings changed here also seems to be a salad shortage or some sort of international supply chain issue to mcmullans. Wouldn't recommend.

I went to this venue with my son and grandson. This place is absolutely fantastic for small children with the soft play area. My grandson is 2, and we had a great time. This venue was all about him.

Great place to take families or friends. The children's section has a small soft play area, which costs £2.50 per child and gets added to your bill. Our first time here and we were very impressed.

Decided to try somewhere new, looked at reviews which were good. We had dinner there and it was amazing. The children got to use the soft play area (costs £2.50 per child, which gets added onto your bill) The food took a little longer than expected, but when it arrived, it was amazing. Hayley served us tonight, and all I can say is... she was friendly, welcoming, and the best service we had. The only negative was the toilets were messy, with toilet roll everywhere and flies. Somethibg that can easily be rectified. Highly recommend this place.

Got a lot for kids. Food is alright. But it’s more having the kids be so happy there.

Mercedes and Faye were brilliant for my sons 5th birthday pizza party. They listened and helped us with ALL things to help the smooth running of the party. We will definitely be booking again. Thank-you!

Had a fantastic experience at Angels in Hitchin. Kian was our waiter and was such a friendly and warm young man. Service was excellent and definitely will be visiting again.

Took my 2yo for lunch and play here and its very child friendly. The mini soft play was relaxed and not busy, child's menu was quality food and I had jacket pot with tuna and side salad. Really tasty and reasonably priced. Even has toddler cutlery.

The food was just okay, but the service left much to be desired. The quality of the ingredients was subpar. Our server made several mistakes with our order and brought a lot of extra sides, yet we were charged for everything, including sides we didn't touch. We did not received the side we actually ordered on time, for instance, extra chips that were meant to be a side dish arrived with our desserts. We chose not to complain at the time because we wanted to enjoy our outing. While the soft play area did keep our little one entertained, it was quite old and not very clean. Overall, it wasn't the best experience.

We had our little girl’s birthday party here today and we all had an amazing time. This wasn’t our first time here, I think just about all children from our childminders had their parties here and it works really well. We couldn’t recommend this place enough. It’s perfect for children’s parties and the food is great too. Definitely will be coming back! 😊

We ordered nachos, fish n chips , liit and a beer ! The kids enjoyed indoor and outdoors play settings.

We have been here a number of times as we don't live very far away. In the most part the food has been good, especially the pizzas which are always nice. (A shame they stopped the katsu option). We have also had a nice mixed grill, hunters chicken and fish and the chips were decent. They really let themselves down with their burgers. We have had a couple of burgers about a year and a half apart and they were both awful. They both were extremely dry and dense and seemed like they were frozen supermarket burgers that were reheated or left on the warmer all day. Inedible. Strange to see such a drop off in quality when the rest of the food we have had was nice. We did order a dessert to share which seemed like the right choice as it was supposed to be over 1200 calories. The dessert that arrived would barely be 400. One scoop of ice cream, some squirty cream and a few bits of chocolate with some caramel sauce. Nowhere near the scale of dessert the menu claims it to be. If you are going to order a dessert with over half your daily calories you expect it to be substantial and too much for one. It wasn't. Overall, we like coming to the Angels, staff are always friendly and polite, they allow dogs in the bar, there is a beer garden, kids soft play, we don't usually have to wait too long for service or food (save the one time we were in a rush) and the prices are reasonable, especially on their offer days. If they sort out the frankly awful burgers and make the dessert menu accurate (at least on that one item), we could give 5 stars, although we are unlikely to order those items again to find out changes have been made. Good, room for improvement.

Family Sunday for 7 - waited over 2hrs for mains then advised no turkey (pre-ordered) then nearly an hour for desserts

My partner and I were looking forward to have a nice Sunday roast, I've ordered the chicken and he ordered the beef. The food was looking very nice, and to our big disappointment it didn't taste the way it looked. The vegetables were hard, almost raw, the beef was like rubber, potatoes hard and difficult to cut, and why the red cabbage and not the savoy? The Sunday roast was a big disappointment! Atmosphere was lovely, the staff were very kind, very nice, but the food let them down. Perhaps you can do something to improve the quality of the food?

The food is good, we had the Sunday roast and it was excellent. The kids had a very good time with the internal playground and the adults can sit have a relaxing dinner and keep an eye to the kids of you book a table close to the play area. There is also an external playground for hotter days.

The worst customer service I have ever experienced. Half of our food order did not get put through. When we queried where the food was, we were told it was on its way, and when it did arrive after well over an hr, the order was incorrect. When we complained, we were met with a confrontational and rude waitress who blamed us for the error. It's a shame because the facilities with the soft play for the kids, are really great and the food (when you actually get what you odered) is good, but today it was let down by terrible customer service. Staff need some training in communication, how to deal with unhappy customers, and how to apologise.

We have been to Angels 4 times now, the 1st time was excellent, the food was phenomenal, my son who was 3 at the time had a blast in the soft play area, it was on our first visit we decided to book a pizza making party for my sons 4th birthday. The 2nd visit was the day after our 1st visit as I wanted to share this amazing find with my sister, the food was still excellent however the staff were rude and we got the feeling that we were intruding by being there. On the 3rd visit, the service was excellent again, and the food was just as good as always. The soft play area is an absolute gem making this our new favourite place! On our 4th and most recent visit, we had my sons 4th birthday, I am so grateful to the staff members who worked tirelessly to ensure his birthday was a memorable one, everything ran fabulously all the kids made their own pizzas and ate most of them, the ice creams were an absolute hit, all the parents were very impressed by the high standards and efficency, thank you so much Angels for the truly memorable day!

Food took awhile to come, the potatoes impossible to cut, not much gravy highly disappointing, 3 carrots and two broccoli like come on? Luke warm meat like you would think taking awhile to come it would be hot but noooooo. Got horseradish but it came in a stupid tiny pot like come on what do you expect me to do with this. Your Yorkshire puddings were like cardboard. Desserts took ages like how long does it take to microwave brownie. The best part was the waiter made me laugh though, deserves raise, not paid enough.

Stuck in the play area if you want a drink with your meal you have to pay separately and then you wait ages for the drinks to arrive

We came here on Xmas day whole family of 10 we walked in got offered drinks I ordered a Pepsi which was very watered down but I got over it! got told starters wer coming in 5mins hour later still waiting finally got our starter of burnt cold toast whilst my mother was sat there watching us eat waiting for her soup! It then arrived after we attempted to finish our starter. Another hour wait for our mains again being told every 5mins its was coming! The meat was just about edible the potatoes wer so hard when I tried to put my fork in it it actually flew off my plate the veg was also rock hard pretty much raw. My 8year old had steak which we asked for well done it had blood pouring out of it my son nearly threw up at the sight! We then had to wait another 45mins for desert only dish that was actually fine. Problem I’m having now is we paid over £400 for this meal and we ended up having to get McDonald’s on the way home on Xmas day because of the state of the food in this place. I have also emailed and have had no response at all. It is such a shame because the pub in itself has a lot to offer we had 5children with us from the ages 10-1 which luckily kept going in and out of the soft play whilst having to wait and wait and wait for disgusting food to be served! Home someone actually gets back to me at some point!

There were lots of errors with our order and service. The girls were young and trying hard but lots was wrong.

First time at the Angel . Member of staff told us to sit down and she placed our drink and food order . Myself and my husband arrived at the Angel at 1pm . Received our drinks and waited for our food . We ended up waiting 1 hour and forty minutes for the food , my husband mentioned it to a member of staff and she said our food is been plated up . The food came out I ordered the hummus bowl with steak and my husband ordered the mix grill . The food was horrendous the fried egg with the mix grill was black /burnt underneath and my hummus salad bowl came out with no hummus, guacamole, corn frittas and no garlic ciabatta bread the steak didn't look cooked . We mentioned this to a member of staff she said she will give us a refund even though we haven't payed for the meal yet . The member of staff said she would speak to the manager but when my husband spoke to the manager she didn't know about the situation. We payed for our 2 drinks and left . In all fairness our 2 drinks should of been free . The manager didn't seem to care . Don't know why I'm rating this place 1 star more like ZERO!!!! NEVER COMING TO THE ANGEL AGAIN

Just had a lovely Boxing Day meal. The staff and overall service was fantastic. Everyone was so accommodating and polite. The food could not have been any nicer, it was absolutely delicious. We were a large table who were well looked after. The team were all happy and gave my brother an amazing birthday. Thank you for making the day so special. We will definitely be coming back.

What a lovely visit I had today. I took some of my residents from the care home where I work and we all had a wonderful time. The staff laid on a lovely meal and arranged for a school to come and sing carols to us. I had the best roast beef I have had in ages and probably the best mash potato I have ever had. Pudding was also a delight and they threw in some extras for the residents. They all felt really spoilt. Gemma amd Katie did a fabulous job Thank you. PLEASE do this again next year!

Well nothing like being ignored. Waited at the wait to be seated area for 10 mins. Staff serving but other staff weren't busy, kept looking over then hiding behind the post at the bar. Maybe if he'd walked over and seated us or said someone will be with you shortly but no. So just lost custom of two adult dinners.

Hidden gem in Hitchin. We visited Angels first time yesterday, and were pleasantly surprised. It has a really good atmosphere, great food options and good prices. For us, the biggest selling point is there is a soft play area as well, so our little one could enjoy the slide indoor as well. We also went back today as well for the winter warmers and turned out they have pizzas for half price. Damn,we will keep coming back. Special thanks for Daniel, he is such a nice guy. Shambolic is an understatement for this place, we ordered our meals and drinks, 1 large coke and a glass of water, 20min later and no drinks had arrived so I mentioned this to the waiter and 10mins later he bought them over, about 2 mins later 2 more large cokes and another glass of water arrived, ok we were told we wouldn’t be charged for the extra but who wants all that, another 15mins passed and we were asked if we would like to see the dessert menu, well not really we haven’t had our food yet so off they went to see what had happened, all off a sudden the starters and mains were all just bought out together and dumped on the table, so we now had 5 drinks 2 starters and 2 mains on a small table, anyway we had our meal which was decidedly average and asked for the bill, yet again about 20 mins later and it still hadn’t been bought over, could’ve easily walked out and no one would have noticed, we decided to just go to the bar and settle up and the same excuse we kept hearing was that they were so busy, they weren’t there were a lot of empty tables, they just didn’t seem bothered. If I could give no stars I would, probably the worst place I ever been, we were told to go to chicken George in the town but thought the pub would be a better bet, apparently not, I know where I’m going on my next visit to Hitchin.

Brilliant party for my little one, soft play for the kids and got lovely pizzas and sides for 12 without breaking the bank. Will recommend to everyone and will be back for any gathering or casual dinning with kids

We had a Wake at the Angles, living out of the area we dealt with them over the phone. Everything went like clockwork and the food was first rate, the staff couldn't of been more helpful. if we lived closer this would be a regular place for us to eat

Pre funeral drinks. Lovely looking pub, wood burner and very clean. Only 4 of us in there so little atmosphere but I'd imagine it's a popular place.

What a fab place for families to relax and enjoy. The staff are amazing and so kind. Nothing is too much trouble. One staff member gave my husband an entire bottle of car screen wash as our water had frozen and we were unable to clean the windscreen. The staff go beyond the call of duty. 10 out of 10 to them. Oh and the food is great too.

Booked for 19 people for my Grandaughters 1st Birthday we had a bit of a hiccup after we saw where we were being seated but Lucy The Manager made sure we were moved to better seating and made sure we all had the best Service. Big shout out to Lucy thank you once again.

I visited The Angels tonight to purchase a gift voucher for a friend's birthday. Daniel and the team could not do enough to help me. What lovely and welcoming staff! Now my friends can have a well deserved child-free night in peace! A rare treat. Thanks Daniel, you really cheered me up after a really miserable and gloomy day!

Great kids soft play, OK food, terrible service. Wish I could give this pub 5 stars, it has great potential. Soft play area is good. Food is only average. Very family friendly pub but comes with a bit of screaming kids ambience. Our kids loved it. Unfortunately the service is terrible. 1.5 hours wait for food and then 20minutes wait to pay the bill. We were not told of any wait. No apologies, just excuses. Staff just wandered off to find the card machine and started serving other customers. Did feed back to the manager- but they didn’t seem at all interested. No apology- just “I’ll speak to the waiting staff”. It’s a shame

A usual spot of ours, the manager John is really lovely as is the blonde bartender. Very helpful and welcoming, food is really great value and quality - perfect for families as soft play in the back. Big fan of the fish and chips too.

Regularly visit the Angels..for lunch with a client with eating and mobility issues. We love it here..staff are so accommodating staff member Katie goes above and beyond the call of duty.always a happy smiling face nothing is to much trouble for katie.food is lovely wait time is minimal . Katie is an absolute credit to this lovely pub.

Great food. Pizza's are Stone baked and made fresh, delicious. Great for families with indoor and outdoor play areas. Lovely outdoor area, perfect on a sunny day.

Party of 7 including 3 children. Booked lunch for a Sunday. 1 roast came out cold. Another adult never got her dinner till everyone else finished. Kids had ice cream for dessert which took over half an hour to arrive after ordering. Food average and would not recommend.

Took my partner for a birthday drink and I’m disabled n my friend who game is aswell. They made us feel welcome. Help us to our seats. Give us seats near the toilets. So friendly managers John/ Haley. I said no food is needed just drink please and they knew it’s his birthday they brought little something n put candle in it n sang happy birthday to him which was unexpected n lovely thought . Very nice and made our trip there pleasant.

Caesar salad is my go to meal in a pub. The one in The Angels is in my top 5 ever. Thank you.

Excellent customer service. Our server Kate was very friendly and extremely accommodating. Soft play area was brilliant and the kids loved it. The food was absolutely delicious and came out in really good time. All in all I highly recommend and will be back.

I wouldn’t know where to start with our ‘experience’ One person doing the orders, till, delivering the food which we got about 45minutes and before any of our drinks! All the food orders were either wrong or missing items. Thankfully the kids were unaware and enjoyed the soft play. We pre booked this too for a large party. On arrival we noticed another large party already there and already complaining about the fact that they also hadn’t received their drinks. I hour later, AFTER we’d eaten, our drinks showed up. Needless to say, we will not be returning.

We held my brother in laws wake here and the buffet was outstanding. Plenty of it, the hot food was well cooked and the sandwiches were packed with fillings and of a great variety. Everything was well presented.The pub is an excellent place to hold a wake and an area was sectioned off for us. Thanks to all the staff.

Probably the best roast I've had from a pub. My daughter's pizzas topping literally all come of so she had a pizza base with a clump of cheese on the side. When I mentioned it I was asked what the lad wanted me to do about it. I will go back for roast

Ok must say I’ve never had a bad experience at this particular pub The food can sometimes arrive slightly late at times. But the staff especially Katie are so understanding and helpful and above all friendly… I Definitely recommend this place for the family and the children.

We went for the first time food was good although they ran out of a few dishes. Our waitress Britney was very attentive and efficient and friendly!

Had to wait at front door to be seated but hearing other customers complaining about there food wasn't to good. Ours came and although it tasted OK the fish was over done and the mushy peas was just one table spoon. 5/10

Lovely pub, exceptional service. Server was very nice and accommodating. There was even a tiny bit of hot chocolate left when making mine that she poured into my toddlers cup for her. Service like that makes you want to come back. Thank you Kate.

Yummy pizza, friendly staff ( thank you Kate and Shelby) will now always get sriracha sauce on the side for my pizza. Fun soft play and outdoor play area to entertain a wild 3 year old.

Went with family and grandchildren nice pub. Nice atmosphere very busy. My only concern is the safety that young children are able to leave the children's area of their own accord. Children can be very quick to disappear out when busy. One of my grandson's managed to escape while I was supervising my other 2. Ran through pub as only table height briefly loosing him. Got out onto outside pathway. Spoilt visit so left.

Our seating was early afternoon on a Sunday not particularly busy, yet they had no stuffing no turkey left, so 2 of us were offered half a roast chicken instead of turkey. One chicken meal came out after the other meals, so we asked where the other chicken one was, they said they only had one down even though we originally ordered 2 turkey meals. Another member of staff came and told us that there were no more half chicken's, said they could do a chicken breast instead. We said "that will have to do then", but by the time it came out everyone else had finished eating. My daughter said it was really dry and it was cold. She didn't eat much of it at all. Very disappointing and total waste of over £100.00. won't be going back in a hurry for food. I must add though the staff were friendly.
