I used to really like this pub. Gone rapidly downhill. Such a shame. The reviews below do not reflect it as it is now.

I used to like it here, but last time I went in, fridges were basically empty, all taps off except for Fosters.

Fantastic pub in town. Great selection of ales. Service was excellent. Friendly staff. Decor was just what you want from a pub. Highly recommend.

Right opposite Exeter central train station. Can't remember much as it was the end of the night. Good atmosphere, really quirky place. DJ was playing

Music is too loud to be loud to have a conversation

It is a nice, eclectic venue that is full of soul with an exciting atmosphere. The drinks are good and the music is always good fun. I don't like toilets as they need to be renovated pretty badly. They smell and are really dirty however this is expected for a boozer.

16:15 on a Saturday and the place is closed. Never serve food ether

Always good here. Especially on a snow day:- turbo mulled wine! Yum! Update:- the Mickey Mouse is back!

Reasonably priced drinks and a great chilled atmosphere, not a pub that does food unless you count a packet of crisps but definitely one that does a great pint

No food but a proper pub atmosphere, popular with rail passengers waiting for trains from Central. The DJ nights here are legendary...

Super busy and good atmosphere. It took allot of effort to order a drink, ad there were so many people at the bar. Good music, dancing space.

Found the Angel Bar by accident and spent an hour or so enjoying peace, good ale and a relaxing time. Many thanks it was just what I needed. Keep doing what your doing.

Cosy bar opposite Exeter Central train station. Really handy to have a beer while waiting for a train over the road, and nice to sit by the fire in the winter All ales and one cider were unavailable on the Sunday I went which was unfortunate. Apparently due to a busy Saturday night. No evidence this is usual, so will assume it's just down to a busy weekend.

Great old bar opposite Exeter Central station.good service and a friendly atmosphere. Badly let down by the toilet facilities. Graffiti on the doors, missing tiles. Looks like it hasn't been touched since the 70s and not particularly clean. Shame as otherwise a great old pub.

Sorry to give a pub such a low ratting but it is on its way out. Love Pubs and hate giving such a bad starring. Cheers

Great bar with great staff and management. Had a bit of an issue once and the management team responded within the hour and really helped sort out the issue. It plays great music and has a very friendly atmosphere

What an experience...you have to go. Small venue for a rave but what tunes. Big up to the dj on crutches. People were friendly, if you want to dance your socks off til 2am go to the Angel just don't expect 5* go with an open mind...

Simple, no fuzz, friendly little pub bang on the Exeter city centre. If you want to hang out with your friends, you can hang out here. Nice location and friendly people.

Was good but I unfortunately got served chicken and I don't eat meat. That did wobble me a touch

Its a good atmosphere for a small quaint bar. Has a log fire and its cozy. A few seats to choose from and looks like they open at night as there's a dj booth

Been an intermittent visitor since attending Exeter College in mud 1980s. Loved it then, love it now. Proper Ale. Not flash. Friendly staff. 🍺🍺

Nice staff and good products. Just needs a bit of a refurb. Quite small inside, can be quite crowded. Tables weren't clean, no beer mats on table so wet all over.

Experienced quiet and busy side in one night. Feels open and welcoming when quiet but cramped when busy (but hey all pubs need to be busy for the takings at the moment)

Quality staff and really good night out

I love this place. Full of life and a real sense of a welcoming community no matter you're background. My favourite place to go for a drink! If you're passing you gotta pop in and have a drink

There arnt to many jazzy places left to go out for a propa real boogie or bust down in Exeter city any more, but this being ny favourite place to go out for a drink and bust out a few moves to some real dope grooves.

Go here in the day. Sit, drink, read, muse. Then come back on the night events and shuffle or strut the dance floor and just soak it up and sweat it out.

Decent bar opposite central train station. Stays open until around 12.30. Always decent beer and friendly staff

Great contemporary pub; Well kept real ale, friendly staff, great atmosphere. Weekend music is excellent if you like to dance. In my personal opinion, The Angel has been the best place to go for drinks and a dance where you can feel assured it won't be plagued with idiots!

Always love the angel ! Such a lush atmosphere and filled with Devon beauties

Convenient for Exeter Central station but an otherwise unconvincing pub with poor decor. Three casks ales, Doom Bar, Otter and Exeter Avocet. Bit pricey at £4 for Avocet which is a low strength ale.

Very short of staff had to wait a long time for service

We had come to Exeter for the evening by train after a day in Exmouth. We couldn't believe how difficult it was to find a decent little cosy friendly pub to have a couple of drinks before we went for a meal. Surprise.....there are not many in the centre of the city. Eventually we came across the Angel. It sold good beer, had a good friendly atmosphere with not too many students around! And it sold beer instead of wall to wall lagers. Bar staff were good and even though we bought and hated the honeyed chilli nuts the landlady gave us some alternative peanuts for free! We sat on a sofa next to a log fire and had a super time.

If you want a chill night then go to Angel bar

Decent beers and drinks selection. Went in the daytime in winter, had a nice heat from the log burner and a good atmosphere.

A nice pub, good ale & helpful staff- it was busy but everything seemed to work well!

Great pub with great staff. Like a proper pub it serves drinks not food. Great music if you like old school hip hop and reggae. It gets a real mix of people, regulars, people waiting for trains, etc. Doesn't have telly and doesn't permit people wearing football shirts, so avoids all that sort of thing. The toilets are truly dire. Reminds me of a student union disco! Love it!
