Plush hotel in the centre of Exeter. Very well appointed rooms, friendly staff and fabulous breakfast.

We had a stay that included a meal and breakfast that was excellent. We were served by eve and she was spot on. Parking is a pain and an xtra 20 pound which isnt great but it is what it is. We were given a free upgrade on the second nite which was lovely as the first room although nice only had a smalll radiator to heat the room and it didnt do its job Only down mark over our great stay is i got the booked date wrong and they wouldn't change the date over due to company policy so jad to pay for another nite again. They could have least made a small charge to chsnge the date. PS receptionist were all very nice and friendly

An average hotel close to the centre of Exeter. When I got there, two of the amenities advertised, parking and the pool, were unavailable (there is no pool until March). Traffic noise audible in most of the rooms and the interior is dated. Rooms are clean and well appointed. Would not use again

I booked this hotel for an overnight stay with my wife on our anniversary taking advantage of the "Winter Wonders 1-night dinner bed & breakfast" with a complimentary glass of champagne for each guest & late (12am) checkout. I also opted to upgrade to a "Deluxe Room" all for £188. I was aware that parking at the hotel attracted a £20 premium and I booked this the day before travel. As it is listed as a Spa Hotel I was expecting a pool, sauna, jacuzzi etc. but the photos show the pool is outside and there isn't a sauna. 100% my mistake. All good, arrived a little early and I parked the car in the car park, before walking around Exeter for a shop & a drink. Note the spaces are tight. We checked in 4:30pm where we were told that breakfast was 7am - 9:30am, (I suspect to counter the late checkout as it was open until 10am). Up to the room where you realise that the hotel was not purpose build & is a former eye hospital. The "Deluxe" room was very small with a narrow window in the room with another narrow window in the bathroom. The toilet was separate from the bathroom but both were really, really small. The bathroom, with a shower within the bath, is so small & narrow that the towel rail over hangs the sink and the glasses, vanity mirror etc. have to be placed on the window sill. A ridiculous shower arrangement where the controls are at one end of the bath but the shower head is at the other end!!! The bed was large, too large for the room, and the wardrobe appears full height and 5' x 4'6" although most is false with the wardrobe only actually being 9" deep. The room felt claustrophobic. The desk wasn't big enough to comfortably place a laptop on. Considering I had upgraded the room it would be a challenge to find a smaller room in the hotel. I booked our meal in their Bistro for 7pm but the service was so dreadfully slow. The rather cool (temperature wise) Bistro wasn't busy and there didn't appear to be a shortage of staff but it was painful. This was actually noted by the staff on exiting (well after 9pm|) such that they, without request, deducted the discretionary 12.5% service charge. The dinner option I had chosen entitled us to two courses from their a la carte menu, however, three of the main course meat dishes were unavailable. We chose the heavily pushed "chateaubriand" (not a la carte) which was a £17+ surcharge without the wine option. Warm plates arrived but were cold by the time the cool steak & trimmings arrived. we certainly would not describe the fillet steak as buttery & melting the mouth. The sticky figgy pudding dessert was over microwaved & equally chewy. The experience quite frankly killed our evening. On checkout the following morning I was asked to settle the £20 parking fee but refused in lieu of the "complimentary glass of champagne" that there was no sight of throughout our stay. If you wish to make an issue of this please contact me. We visit Exeter frequently but we will not stay here again. 16/01/2025 The lazy, standardised response is noted and indicative of the lack of attention to detail one can expect at this hotel. I can guarantee that there will be no follow up, there never is, it's a response just for show. Prove me wrong. Stayed in Room 219, 6th January 2025, booked direct. You have my email.

Went for a family New Year lunch. Great food with good service. Restaurant is located in a lovely, slightly funky, modern extension. Great place to be and unique close to Exeter city centre.

I stayed at Hotel du Vin, Exeter for 4 nights in July 2023. Generally very good service. Parking is very tight at this establishment so parking spaces must be booked and paid for in advance of your stay at £15 per night. When I arrived, there was a sign with my name on it so I parked there and didn't use the car for the rest of my stay. Reception were very helpful on arrival and answered any questions I had. I had a Cosy Room at the back of the hotel which I was disappointed about as it was very small and cramped and you could still hear the traffic noise from round the corner. Breakfast in the Bistro was great. Very helpful staff. Lots of choice from the Country Table and Hot Breakfast choices. All staff were welcoming and knowledgeable regarding the menu, but at £19.95 per head this was not worth it but I had the free breakfast every day as part of my booking. The indoor/outdoor swimming pool was great. The indoor part had water jets, so a bit like a jacuzzi then the outdoor part, through the wall, was deep enough to swim in. This area also had a nice changing room with showers and lockers. BUT my real gripe was the cleaning of the rooms. I am a cleaner myself so I do understand. I thought there were some marks on the bathroom shelf so I spoke to an older lady about it and she came back to me and informed me something hot had been left on the side so these were probably burn marks. But unfortunately when it came to the bathroom sink drain hole, this was really dirty. This really is not acceptable for an establishment that charges these prices. I called into my room one day to find a young girl tidying up. She just grunted at me when I said hello. No conversation whatsoever. Despite these annoyances, I will be back as I enjoyed my stay and the bed was particularly comfortable and the hotel is centrally located in Exeter. UPDATE This is much improved on last year. This year I paid more for a larger room which was much more suited to the purpose. It overlooked the garden, had a huge bed with plenty of room round it. The cleaning was also much improved. I would always book a Classic Room in the future. It made all the difference. Also, the room was situated at the end of the building, so you didn't hear anyone snoring or banging about. PLEASE NOTE the parking is now £20.

Went to bistro for tasting menu. Quality of food and quantity of alcohol provided for £60 per person was good value for money. We all enjoyed it and would go there again.

Very nice hotel. From the outside this Hotel looks a bit drab. But inside it's lovely. Great restaurant, really nice food. The gardens and spa treatments were brilliant. I can't comment on the rooms as we had a spa day package, including a 2 course lunch. We all enjoyed our time at the hotel spa and restaurant. We couldn't get parking at the hotel, so unfortunately all spent quite alot on parking in car parks. Be sure to work out parking arrangements before arrival, as every parking space in the hotel car park was reserved.

Hotel is lovely and the staff are 5 ⭐️, food was exceptional and I just loved relaxing in the pool post work. Only reason knocking off a star for the room was the tap cover in the bath broken/missing and the wall mirror that lit up had all nasty colour behind it showing through all yellow and manky, just not up to standard.

Great hotel for an overnight stopover. Very attentive staff and great food and cocktails. Will be back to try the spa. Very small room even though I'd upgraded and a king bed is 5ft which is really a queen bed.

Someone knocked my bicycle making it unridable. Toby at reception very kindly grabbed some tools and got it functional again so I could be back on my way. He was kind and helpful and I am extremely grateful!

I took my mum here for a birthday treat. We went to the spa, had dinner and breakfast as well as staying in the hotel. Gorgeous hotel, lovely food and amazing spa, the staff were all lovely. Especially Micheal the waiter, he had a great sense of humour, was very on it and really made our trip. Give this man a raise!! 😂

Hotel provided private dining for a family group of 10 following a small & intimate wedding. Hotel team was all very supportive and attentive enough, but never in the way. Food was very good, satisfied all across 3 generations. The bar staff were overstretched at times, with another (big) wedding party in the bar at the same time.

I went with some friends to experience the day spa retreat. I had a full-body massage, which was okay. Unfortunately, the massage rooms are not very spacious and too bright. The masseuse had limited space to move and massage the other side, causing disruption as she squeezed from one side to another, brushing against the massage bed. This made it challenging for me to fully relax. Additionally, I could hear conversations from the beauty therapists at the reception desk in my room. While the restaurant's decor is beautiful, the lunch service was extremely slow, and the food was average. On a positive note, I enjoyed the heated pool and my friends and I had lots of fun. Despite the mentioned issues, I had a good time. Overall, my experience was not unpleasant.

Hotel Du Vin Spa in the middle of Exeter is a wonderful discovery. It's the perfect place for hardworking women/mums to treat themselves after a long tiring week. I booked a back, neck and shoulder massage with Nathalie, and she was fantastic. She was skilled, polite, and made sure I felt comfortable throughout. Nathalie played relaxing music, warmed the oil before applying it, and gave a thorough massage. The manager, Amy, was also very friendly and professional. I'll definitely be coming back for more.

Treatment is Spa was really good but the changing rooms need some love. Cleaner in there was unphased by it Had to stand on a tiny corner of floor otherwise you got soaked. Was like that from 930 until 1pm so plenty of time for it to be sorted

Stayed at Hotel du Vin in Exeter for a few nights. The building is absolutely beautiful and the interior of the hotel is matching the exterior and the character of the historic building. The room was a junior suite and it was spacious and luxurious . There were bottles of water and sweet treats complimentary in the room as well as bath robes and slippers. In general the room was clean bit there were a few bits like cobwebs and dust around which is acceptable. The only major issue about the room was that the shower gel wasn't topped up in the walk in shower. Had to go downstairs to the reception to ask for more to receive a big bottle of a refill shower gel and then instructed by the receptionist to return when I am done. Which was a bit odd considering we had just arrived. The bed in the room was a good size and very comfortable. There is free access to the swimming pool which was really nice and not busy at all. The pool area provides changing rooms, bath robes and showers, nice touch. Overall the stay was pleasant and definitely will be back in future.

So VERY RUDE! Couldn’t believe it. Tried to get a cup of tea here this afternoon with my little boy. But left after experiencing some very nasty staff. We went to the Riverside cafe just along the river, where the staff and atmosphere was excellent. AVOID

Came here for the first time for coffee. We ordered the matcha and 10 minutes later the staff came out to say they were out of it. Disappointing however we got to order another drink instead which was still yummy nonetheless. The seating outside is very nice and overall good location. Would come back again hopefully they are restocked next time!

Living very close id recommend this chippy over all the ever 12 I've tried in Exeter including the very expensive Krispies, they cannot cook fish. Try the fish supper house you won't regret it
