The food was good as was the service. It was a little quiet when we went so not much atmosphere. It's quite pricey. Bottomless chips included with my fish but for the money I think they could include a salad or greens. A nice treat.

Overall I am satisfied. Different chef, different taste, the taste was better before. 🤔🤔

Great food and professional and friendly service

Super place in a lovely position. It was very quiet when I went...8pm Sunday, but the whole experience was great. Very hard working and professional staff. Lovely fresh food...the Hake was excellent. A very nice looking interior. I left a large tip as the service was so good. Only ask would be for a 250ml wine option please.

Really appreciated the extensive gluten free menu. Food was delicious, best meal I've had in a restaurant in a long time. Many places fall down on the quality of the salad, but even this was delicious. Many Thanks

The menu wasn't overly clear about what options were gluten free with a confusing amount of different symbols. My wife ordered the chicken but it was very dry and not overly enjoyable. Also we didn't realise you had to pay an extra 3.75 each for chips which would without would have meant she would have dry chicken and green beans. It is shame as been to a few other rockfishs and they have been very nice and great for my wife.

Pretty disappointing, starter was ok, mains were really small and expensive for what they were, had fritto mosso, don't bother, 3 little prawns, 3 little white bait, and some scraps of calamari..refillable chips just means they give you 5chips and you have to try and catch the waiting staffs eye to get more, by which time you've eaten the small main. I doubt we'll be back.

Oysters and cockles were quite nice, the halibut sadly way overcooked and under seasoned. Reasonably attentive service.

My husband booked this for a surprise dinner for my birthday. We were warmly greeted in arrival and asked to take a seat whilst our table was sorted. A few minutes later we were seated and given a complimentary glass of fizz which we were bowled over by and birthday wishes. We shared a starter and had haddock and gurnard (we shared) which were served with unlimited chips and salad. The food was served piping hot and the fish was a good portion size with amazing batter. There was a wait for our mains but we were not in a rush. All staff looked happy to be working there and were on the go the whole time. Our server Jamie had only been there a couple of weeks but gave us information on the dishes before we made our choice. We were not constantly interrupted which we prefer but did have to wait a little time when requesting a further portion of chips. We were both fully satisfied and did not have room for desert. Thank you to the Manager and her team for a wonderful evening.

Things were fine at first - seated at 7pm, order taken in a reasonable time and drinks and starters arrived as expected. However, after that it all went astray - 8.25pm there was no sign of the mains and no explanation. We caught the server's attention and he stated the kitchen was very busy and that he would try and rush our order. It did not seem a very satisfactory reason for such a long delay. Food arrived about 10 minutes later but with one side missing which he said he would rectify but that did not happen. Not sure if our order was forgotten as it looked as though some people who arrived after us received their food in a timely manner. However, based on some of the reviews it seems that delays in service are a relatively common occurrence and this needs to be addressed. We had planned to have deserts, coffee, etc., but by now (gone 9pm) we had had enough so declined the offer for such and asked for the bill. Furthermore, what should have been a big celebration was not as it should have been. It did not ruin things because, fortunately, we can see the funny side but I know my family were disappointed that what they had hoped would be a fabulous celebration did not turn out as expected.

Went as a family of 5 and really enjoyed our fish and chips lunch. Not sure if I upset the staff when they presented me with my coffee!!!

This was my second visit to Rockfish a year after my first visit since I visit Exeter from the US. I was looking forward to returning. They serve very fresh "catch of the day" items as well as other standard dishes. Their motto is "Tomorrows fish is still in the sea." My group had the feature items. I had tge monkfish tails which had a lobster texture but more tender. I look forward to visiting again on my next trip to Exeter.

Nice and delicious food, the best restaurant in Exeter.

Came for my boyfriend’s birthday, arrived to two glasses of bubbles and a birthday card on the table within minutes of arrival served by lovely Hannah. Seafood was phenomal and our waiter Aravindh was 10/10. Couldn’t recommend more, was such a special meal.

Popped in with friends on a wednesday night, took me a little time to find the entrance, as its like a hut on its own with glass from ceiling to floor. only two servers, but it was quiet when we first arrived. Really busy an hour later, and the servers were overwhelmed a little, but held their own, and still ramained calm and attentive, as best they could. Felt a little awkward , asking them for a refill of the unlimited chips, so did not. I had the mussels, which for £26 were just okay. The dessert, the apple tarte, was lovely.

1 out of 5. We have been here 2 hours and only had our starters, which were great. We are a table of four ordering standard items off the menu. The table of four next to us sat down just as we got to our table. They have had starters and mains, paid the bill and left and we are still waiting for our mains.

We have been going to Rockfish for many years (Brixham & Exeter). We gave it a miss for a while but decided to visit the restaurant on Exeter Quay, this lunchtime. We were very excited to see Frito Misto back on the menu, so after our starters, awaited our main course. What a disappointment! 3x white bait, 3 x King Prawns, some scraps of calamari and 2 thumb tipped size of fish. We patiently waited for the chips… which didn’t come! Apparently these are at an additional cost now! Long gone are the days when the main meals at Rockfish were served with chips (refillable) or a salad?! At £22.95 for a small plate of the above? Wow! Sorry Rockfish, but you have changed so much it now appears that your profits are far more important than your customers - we won’t be back!!

We have been to most Rockfish restaurants but Exeter is one of our favourite. The service is always exceptional and the food fantastic. Would highly recommend. We think Ana the Manager is superb and today the lovely Coline served us. A memorable evening.

Today we were served by the lovely Coline who was very attentive, lovely and very knowledgeable about the menu. Both made it a special evening for us. We don't live nearby otherwise we would come more frequently. Would highly recommend!

Superb set menu! Had the set 3 course menu and thought we would be served small portions. Not at all! Fantastic value and excellent service.

Another great meal in Rockfish Exeter. Slight delay on the chips coming out, but overall good food and good service we expect here. Not cheap, but the choice and quality is really good,

Despite the great location sadly this was hugely overpriced for the food which was below average although the kids liked the ice cream. The staff were pleasant enough but it’s clear there weren’t enough of them. We waited for our starters and then another three quarters of an hour for our main courses. The staff offered to discount one of the meals due to the wait but it was very dry and my Mum didn’t eat most of it. Won’t be back.

I had a fantastic dining experience at Rockfish, largely thanks to the exceptional service provided by Josie. Her attentiveness and friendly demeanor enhanced our visit. The food was delicious, and Josie's recommendations were spot on. I highly recommend Rockfish for a memorable dining experience.

We wandered in after taking a look at the menu and noticing the unlimited chips! Thankfully we were seated straight away without a booking, at a table with a beautiful view of the sea. We were absolutely blown away by the delicious food, and I really loved the fried artichoke tacos as a vegetarian option. We felt incredibly well looked after and we loved that they are all about sustainable practices. An excellent dining experience that we would highly recommend to anyone looking for a nice tasty meal in the area.

Excellent quality fish for lunch, removed a star for service and atmosphere as it wasn't quite the experience we'd have liked due to slow response a couple of occasions and a lack of engagement by the staff overall.

Chosen rockfish for it’s quality and it didn’t disappoint. We were a party of 4, but unfortunately did have a longer than usual wait time for our mains. I realise it’s all cooked freshly but we were not that upset because when it arrived, it was all delicious. The setting is lovely, and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Would return the food is always delicious and it’s our favourite place to eat in Exeter.

Thank you for a very good service and delicious, fresh food. We were invited in and offered what we assumed was a complementary hot drink, as we had arrived early, by a really kind man; however we later realised the drinks had been added to our bill, which I think was quite cheeky, as it was not made explicit! We were very happy with the table service by a young man who could not do enough to accommodate us. A positive experience but you should be more transparent about pricing.

Poor main course, microscope Plaice fillet with odd tasting garlic butter. £22.50 for 100 Grammes of overcooked fish and 6 tiny new potatoes. Cost taken off the bill which was fair enough but I won’t be going again.

If your after fresh quality fish look no further! I just walked in was quickly given a table, restaurant is nicely decorated and has an open fire making it really cosy . Service was amazing Ana treated me really well and knew her Fish . Will be coming back !!

We used to be super fans of Rockfish but hadn't managed to visit for a while. What has happened? My main course portion of trout (£18.95) was so small that it was served on a side plate. My friend had the gurnard which was even smaller (also served on a side plate). The biggest disappointment was the chips - they were awful. They used to serve delicious traditional chips. They now resemble oven chips from a cheap pub with a rather unnatural 'coating'. Please Rockfish bring back your old style chips.

We really fancied a seafood meal during our stay in Exeter, and Rockfish fitted he bill perfectly. Staff were friendly, food was delicious. Can't remember when I tasted chips that good - I stole a couple from my friend as I'd ordered the salad, which was also excellent. I was a bit sad that the things I'd most fancied from the menu were not available, but that's a fresh seafood restaurant for you, and the ray wing I had was lovely. I wish they could expand to London, but I guess Brixham is just too far!

Used to be a regular at Rockfish and I will think twice before going again - awfully cooked meal. The excuse was a large table, but its a Saturday night and they weren’t fully booked.

Just has a great birthday lunch at Rockfish Exeter. Service was very friendly helpful and professional. Nothing seemed too much trouble. Fish second to none. The Dorset oysters were superb. Rose was lovely and perfectly paired with the shellfish and seafood. So lovely to be next to the river. Too full for desserts. Service at your discretion as it should be. For me this will be the go to eatery for nearly all occasions.

We did not have a table booked but still was able to get a seat during a busy Saturday night. Lovely food and customer service is top. Price a bit on a high side but what can you expect from a fresh seafood place? Highly recommend if you love seafood.

A really cozy seafood restaurant located at the Exeter quayside that serves delicious freshly catch fish, depending on that day. Fresh-warm ambience and friendly staff. A bit pricey but worth the taste and freshness.

Turned up without a booking. Sunday afternoon. Restaurant was not even a quarter full so not busy at all. Waited ten minutes to be seated and seated ourselves. Then waited another 15-20 minutes at a table waiting to be spoken to by waiting staff. They knew we were here as they made eye contact a few times during our wait. In the end we left. 30-40 minutes without even someone saying hello be with you soon or anything like that doesn’t deserve my money quite frankly. Very disappointed

Exeter Quayside zone, a restaurant known as Rockfish Exeter. Serves delicious food and variety of fresh fish (depending on the day). Lovely place for some dinner with friends and family. There’s also a few other rockfish branches in Exmouth & Torquay

Fantastic meal, not cheap but comparable in price to other pubs/restaurants and yet the Rockfish quality is so much better. Maybe the best chips I’ve ever eaten - and bottomless too! Lovely staff, very kind to toddler and super dog friendly. Great setting, especially outside. We’ve also had Rockfish fresh fish home delivery and loved it.

Absolutely amazing. One of the best in the whole world. We had calamari grill, whitebait, guardner fish etc. Everything was well cooked and very delicious. The grilled calamari is the best I've ever had, and believe me, I've eaten a lot of calamari in my life, as I'm from a seaside country and love to go to beaches. The overall atmosphere, the decorations and the staff were also great.

Good was good but customer service was not really appropriate. We were a big group stopped here enroute London from Cornwall. Unfortunately, the waiting staff were rude, rolled there eyes when we asked them for more of their so called unlimited chips and ignored our requests for more water on a sweltering day. Not impressed by their professionalism at all. We had a huge order with several of their main meals too.

We eat at 7.30pm when people were already finishing their meals so it wasn't as lively as our previous visit. Staff very helpful and attentive and fish was excellent.

Amazing fresh fish, starters and sides! Ate there twice on this trip. The Fish Tacos are out of this World. Would eat them every visit. Super friendly Staff as well. Can’t fault it.

Fish absolutely lovely. Nicely cooked and clearly as fresh as it gets. Would expect proper home made, hand cut chips at £18 for fish and chips. Quite disappointing to get frozen ones. Appreciate they offer unlimited but I’m fairly sure most guests would prefer quality over quantity.
